A big phone with a big processor and a big battery!

POCO Nepal has been on a roll lately. The company launched the POCO X7 Pro, POCO F7, and the POCO F8 Pro a couple of months ago, and it has now added two new devices to its portfolio. We have already covered the vanilla POCO X8 Pro in a separate article, and here, we'll tell you everything you need to know about its big bro: the POCO X8 Pro Max. Including its features, specifications, official price in Nepal, and more.
POCO X8 Pro Max Overview
Display and design
So unlike the regular POCO X8 Pro that tries to lean towards the “compact design” territory, the X8 Pro Max is a BIG phone through and through. You're looking at a 6.83-inch 120Hz OLED display with 1.5K resolution, which also supports 3840Hz PWM dimming in case you are sensitive to PWM flickering when looking at the phone screen at low brightness levels. Not just that, but POCO has also secured an impressive 2,000 nits of full-screen brightness, a 12-bit color depth, and even a Dolby Vision certificate for this screen.
And in our experience, we found the display on the POCO X8 Pro Max to not only be perfectly bright for all conditions, but also extremely color-accurate. Fast-paced games and videos feel buttery smooth, and even viewing angles are excellent—much better than what we expected from a semi-flagship phone.

Moving on to design, the glass front, aluminum frame, and glass back give it a solid feel here. The X8 Pro Max measures around 8.2mm thick, weighs around 218 grams, while its IP68/IP69K ingress protection ratings add peace of mind for dust or accidental splashes. The unit I tested is in White, and it looks minimal yet premium. And there’s a fun little touch here: you get RGB lights around the camera module.

Performance and software
Under the hood, the X8 Pro Max runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 9500s with the Immortalis-G925 MC12 GPU, paired with 12/16GB RAM and 256/512GB storage. During our hands-on testing, even heavy games ran without stutter. We played a few demanding titles back-to-back, and the FPS remained smooth and stable, thermals were under control too, and the phone never felt sluggish.
| Games | Avg FPS | 5% Low |
| PUBG | 117.6 | 112.8 |
| Genshin Impact | 59.3 | 56.4 |
| Mobile Legends | 120.1 | 119.1 |
Multitasking between apps, switching between YouTube, Instagram, and games, feels instantaneous thanks to the large RAM and fast storage. Similarly, it runs on Android 16 with HyperOS 3, which has tons of customization features. And like the regular POCO X8 Pro, this guy will also get 4 major OS updates and 6 years of security updates.

Camera and battery
While everything has been “sunshine and rainbows” about the POCO X8 Pro Max so far, its cameras are frankly nothing extraordinary. It brings the exact same camera setup as the vanilla POCO X8 Pro, including a 50MP main, an 8MP ultrawide, and a 20MP selfie shooter. And in our testing, we found that the phone handles daylight shots well. Colors are vibrant, and details are sharp. Portraits are okay but not extraordinary, and low-light performance is average. Selfies sometimes come out a bit contrasty, but it’s enough for casual use or social media posting.

Anyway, battery life is another highlight of the POCO X8 Pro Max since it's fueled by a massive 8,500 mAh battery. The Indian variant actually has an even larger 9,000 mAh battery, but since we're getting the global variant in Nepal, that's a minor compromise here. And in our usage, the X8 Pro Max would give anywhere between 10 – 12 hours of screen time on average, which is absolutely fantastic! It supports 100W wired, and with a compatible charger, the X8 Pro Max can go from 0 to 100% in around an hour.
