      Redmi Pad 2 9

Redmi is constantly bringing compact versions of affordable tablets you can carry for day-to-day use, such as Redmi Pad SE 8.7. To continue this trend, they are here with a new entry-level Redmi Pad 2 9.7 in the Nepali market, targeting users looking for a decent tablet for studying and casual content watching. This tablet has a higher refresh rate and screen resolution than its predecessor. In this article, I will explain the Redmi Pad 2 9.7, including its expected price in Nepal, specifications, and availability.

      Key Highlights

      • Redmi Pad 2 9.7 is officially available in Nepal for NPR 25,999.
      • It features a 9.7-inch 2K IPS LCD display with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate and TÜV Rheinland certification.
      • The tablet is powered by the Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 2 chipset paired with 4GB RAM and 128GB storage.
      • It packs a 7600mAh battery with 18W charging support, stereo speakers, and HyperOS 3 based on Android 16.

      Redmi Pad 2 9.7 Overview

      Design and Display

Starting off, Redmi Pad 2 9.7 comes with a sleek design with a 7.4mm thin all-metal unibody profile. However, the tablet weighs 406 grams, which is a bit heavier than its predecessor. This could be due to a slightly larger display. With this tablet, you get to choose between “Graphite Gray” and “Silver” finishes.

For the display, this tablet comes with an IPS LCD panel similar to its predecessor. This panel has a 2K (2048 x 1280 pixels) resolution, which should be sufficient for watching long-form content. While scrolling, this tablet should also be smooth, thanks to its 120Hz refresh rate. However, outdoor visibility may be limited due to its 600-nit HBM brightness. But Redmi is giving you TUV Rheinland certification on this tablet, so you can watch long-form content without worrying about eye fatigue.

      Entry-level performance

Under the hood, Redmi Pad 2 9.7 uses the entry-level mobile platform Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 2 SoC built on a 6nm processor. This chip closely resembles the older budget Snapdragon 680, and its 6nm architecture is a generation behind what modern mid-range tablets should have. Though you can expect decent performance for day-to-day tasks, this chip is not for those considering it for 3D gaming.

      Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 4

In terms of memory, this tablet features an entry-level configuration with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage. Due to the 4GB of RAM, you might experience the app closing in the background. This can cause the tablet to reload apps or browser tabs more frequently when multitasking between heavy applications.

For software, Redmi Pad 2 9.7 runs on Xiaomi HyperOS 3 on top of Android 16. This interface brings several dedicated multitasking and lifestyle features to the device. Thanks to its software optimization, you can expect at least smooth operation when scrolling social media or reading an e-book.

      Camera and Battery

In terms of optics, Redmi Pad 2 9.7 keeps things simple by just using the same layout that we saw in the 11-inch version of Redmi Pad 2 (Review). At the back, it uses an 8MP f/2.0 camera that should perform decently in good lighting. With this, you should be able to scan the documents, capture notes, and take a quick reference photo. You get the 5MP f/2.2 selfie shooter in a horizontal orientation, making it easy to attend meetings, online classes, and work remotely.

Moving on, the battery looks decent, with a 7600mAh capacity that Xiaomi claims lasts up to 13 hours for online video playback. And if you are using it for online reading, it goes up to 14 hours, while casual use can let it last for more than a day. Similarly, this tablet supports up to 18W fast charging, but Xiaomi has included only a 15W charger, which takes around 2.5 to 3 hours to fully charge.

      Redmi Pad 2 9.7 Specifications:

      • Design, build: Metal unibody, 226.5 x 148 x 7.4 mm, 406 g, Graphite Gray/ Silver
