Vivo X500 arrives with a 144Hz AMOLED display and massive 7,500mAh battery!

Vivo has officially introduced the X500 as part of its latest flagship X-series. The phone brings a mix of flagship hardware and sits right in the middle of the lineup in terms of size between the X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max. It features a 6.59-inch 1.5K AMOLED display, a Dimensity 9600M chipset, a Zeiss-backed triple-camera setup, and a huge 7,500mAh battery. In this article, I will cover everything about the Vivo X500, including its specifications, availability, and expected price in Nepal.

Vivo X500 Overview

Design and Display

Starting with the design, the Vivo X500 carries the same overall flagship identity as the rest of the X500 siblings, but has its own look and differs in proportions. The phone measures 8.15mm thick and weighs 211g and 213g, depending on the variant. It also retains the IP68 and IP69 dust and water resistance rating. 

On the rear, Vivo has introduced what it calls the “Superhealing Floating Island”, where instead of a standalone center circle, the camera array sits inside a large circular ring shifted toward the left. The lenses are completely housed within a raised rectangular glass plateau that smoothly covers the upper back panel. It is available in Sunny Day, Dawn, Earth Echo, and Night Photography color options. 

Moving on to the display, the Vivo X500 sports a 6.59-inch 1.5K AMOLED panel with a sharp resolution of 2750 x 1260 pixels. Just like the Pro models, it supports a 144Hz refresh rate, which should make scrolling, animations, and supported games feel noticeably smoother. Here, as the screen uses an LTPS panel, it switches between 30Hz, 60Hz, 90Hz, 120Hz, and 144Hz depending on the use case. Which is interesting, as the Pro models get a more flexible 1-144Hz refresh rate range, while the standard X500 starts at 30Hz.

Additionally, the screen sustains 2,000 nits of high brightness for clear visibility in bright outdoors, and can peak at a blinding 4,000 nits for HDR content. It also supports 10-bit color and HDR for immersive media consumption. For eye protection, the panel comes with adaptive dimming and Night Owl protection 4.0 for comfortable viewing in low-light conditions.

Performance and Software

Under the hood, the Vivo X500 is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9600M chipset, which is manufactured on a 3nm process to handle demanding apps, gaming, and other intensive tasks efficiently. The phone comes with 12GB of LPDDR5X Ultra RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage. This should provide plenty of room for apps, games, photos, and videos, while the faster memory and storage standards should also help with everyday responsiveness.

On the software side, the Vivo X500 runs OriginOS 7 based on Android 17. Here, you can expect five years of major OS upgrades and five years of security patches. Furthermore, the phone also comes with a 72-month anti-aging rating, which is said to be designed to maintain smooth performance and responsiveness over up to six years of use.

Camera and Battery

For optics, the Vivo X500 features a Zeiss-backed triple-camera setup, with the 50MP main camera using a 1/1.28-inch Sony LYT828 sensor, a 64MP APO telephoto camera using a Sony LYTIA-610 sensor, and a 50MP ultrawide camera. Both the main and telephoto cameras also support OIS, with the main lens getting Zeiss gimbal-level stabilization to cover everything from low-light shots to action videos. 

Interestingly, even as the standard model, the telephoto camera offers 3.1x optical zoom and up to 100x digital zoom. So, rather than relying entirely on digital cropping, you get a dedicated telephoto lens for subjects farther away. The phone can also record video at up to 8K resolution. On the front, it has a 50MP camera for selfies and video calls. 

In terms of battery, the Vivo X500 packs a huge 7,500mAh battery, offering plenty of endurance even with heavier use. It also supports 90W wired and 40W wireless charging, which should make topping up the large battery relatively convenient.

Vivo X500 Price in Nepal and Availability

The Vivo X500 has been officially launched in China with a starting price of CNY 5,499 for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant. The 12GB/512GB version costs CNY 5,999, while the top-end 12GB/1TB model is priced at CNY 6,999. There is no information regarding its global launch yet, so no news about its availability in the local market either. However, if it gets announced here, we can expect the Vivo X500 price in Nepal to be around NPR 125,799 for the base variant.
