Honor Pad 8 goes official with 2K display, octa speaker setup

Honor has launched its new budget-friendly tablet, the Honor Pad 8, in China. The tablet competes with the likes of Oppo Pad Air and Xiaomi Pad 5. So, let’s get into the specs, features, availability, and expected price of the Honor Pad 8 in Nepal.

Design and Display

The Honor Pad 8 features a design language similar to many Android tablets out there. The back is made of anodized aluminum, weighing about 520 grams. Its 6.9mm thickness is also in line with the competition. The Pad 8 is equipped with a 12-inch 2K LCD on the front. It has narrow 7.2mm bezels, which is a good viewing experience when paired with the 10:6 aspect ratio. However, it lacks a high 120Hz refresh rate like the Xiaomi Pad 5. The display also has TUV Rheinland hardware-level low blue light, no flicker, and eye protection certification.

Performance

Here, the performance is handled by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 processor. Honor has limited the storage option to only 128GB. Nonetheless, it is available in 3 RAM variants: 4GB, 6GB, and 8GB. The Honor Pad 8 runs MagicUI 6.1, based on Android 12. It comes with multi-screen collaboration, an application split screen, and a new Smart desktop experience.

Camera

The optics on the Honor Pad 8 are handled by a single 5MP shooter on the back. Likewise, the front bezel houses a 5MP sensor for selfies and video conferences.

Rest of the specs

Another highlight of the tablet is the presence of 8 speakers with 8.8cc sound chambers. Out of them, 4 units offer treble, and the other 4 work on bass. Honor also offers DTS:X support alongside its Honor Histen sound effects. The pad is powered by a 7,250mAh battery capable of 22.5W fast charging. Furthermore, Honor sells a detachable keyboard for the Pad 8, which also supports stylus input.

The Honor Pad 8 costs CNY 1,499, CNY, 1,799, and CNY 1,999 for models with 4GB, 6GB, and 8GB of RAM respectively. The company has equipped all the models with 128GB of storage. The Honor Pad 8 is expected to start at NPR 29,999 and go up to NPR 39,999 if it launches in Nepal.
