Lenovo updated its Legion gaming laptops with the latest mobile chips from Intel, AMD, and NVIDIA at the CES 2023. It is now available in Nepal. So, let’s discuss the specs, features, price, and availability of the Legion 5 Pro series 2023 (Pro 5 and Pro 5i) in Nepal.
Legion Pro 5 Series 2023 (Overview):
Lenovo seems to have revamped the Legion gaming laptops series—since we only have two options this year. Unlike what’s generally assumed, the Legion Pro 5 replaces last year’s Legion 5 and not the Legion 5 Pro.
Performance and Memory
As always, there are two models under the Legion Pro 5 series: Pro 5 and Pro 5i. The “i” suffix on the latter represents the Intel processor inside. Here, Lenovo has gone with the latest 13th Gen Intel HX-series mobile processors. The base configuration has the intel I7-13900H, while users can also opt for higher-end models with Core i7-12700H and Core i9-13900HX.
There are three CPU options on the AMD Ryzen-powered Legion Pro 5. Here, users can choose from Ryzen 5, 7645HX, Ryzen 7 7745HX, and Ryzen 9 77845HX.
CPU aside, other specifications of the 8th Gen Lenovo Pro 5 and Pro 5i are pretty similar, starting with the GPU options. The base model of the Legion Pro 5 series (2023) comes with the RTX 3050 processors. However, you can opt for RTX 40-series GPU as well: RTX 4070, 4060, and 4070, all with a 140W TGP. Legion Pro 5 series (2023) also boasts a MUX switch to bypass the integrated for that extra bit of performance.
Lenovo LA AI Chip and Cooling
This year’s Lenovo Legion series laptops are the first gaming laptops with a dedicated AI chip. While AI-based solutions have been there on gaming laptops for performance improvement, Lenovo claims the new LA chips on its Legion laptops are the first AI hardware on laptops. The LA A1 on Legion Pro 5 reads the load on the CPU and the GPU to adjust the heat management accordingly.
Moreover, Lenovo has upgraded the cooling system to keep up with the heat. The new Legion Coldfront 5.0 cooling tech brings an improved fan system, custom fan curve controls, larger intakes, and exhausts.

Design and Display
Lenovo Legion Pro 5 and Pro 5i will be available in Onyx Grey and Abyss Blue finishes. These laptops feature a polymer chassis with a metal lid. Most Legion laptops now come with a 16:10 IPS screen, and it is the case with the new Legion Pro 5 series. Here, you get a 16-inch WQXGA screen with up to 240Hz refresh rate, 500 nits of brightness, and 100% Adobe RGB covers. Screen options listed so far boast NVIDIA G-SYNC, X-Rite Pantone Certification, and Dolby Vision.
Interestingly, there is no FHD option this year, but we expect Lenovo to bring it down the line for South Asia and other regions.
Rest of the Specs
The Legion Pro 5 and Pro 5i (2023) are fueled by an 80Whr battery with support for Super Rapid Charge. Thus, they can go from 0 to 80% in just 30 minutes and reach 100% in an hour. Based on the configuration and the region, these laptops will ship with 300W, 230W, or 140W adapters.
The connectivity is also pretty good as you get two USB-Cs, three USB-As, one HDMI, one ethernet, and a combined audio jack. Likewise, there is Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.1 for wireless networks.
