Oppo brings some major upgrades this time... but will the real-world experience match the hype?

After the global success of the Oppo Enco Air5 Pro, Oppo has brought back its sibling—Oppo Enco Air5—in China. The new earbuds from Oppo are the direct successor of the Oppo Enco Air4 that we saw some years back. With this new earbud, you can clearly see improvements in ANC, connectivity, battery life, and more compared to its predecessor. In this article, I will discuss these new Oppo Enco Air5 earbuds in detail, including the expected price in Nepal, specifications, and availability.
Oppo Enco Air5 Overview
Design and Comfort
Starting with the design, the Oppo Enco Air5 uses a lightweight in-ear design with silicone tips for a secure fit that sits directly in your ear canal for a better listening experience. Apart from this, the whole device weighs around 43.5 grams, with individual buds at around 4.3 grams. This weight distribution makes them highly portable and lightweight, so you can use them for long hours without ear fatigue. You can also choose ear tips in three sizes (Large, Medium, and Small) for your comfort.

Moving on, the charging case for these buds has a compact, round, pebble-like shape that fits effortlessly in your pockets. Here, you get the option between “White”, “Black”, and “Purple” finishes to choose from. It also comes with an IP55 rating against dust and water, so you can use these earbuds in light rain and even during intense workouts at the gym.
Audio and Noise Cancellation
Under the hood, Oppo Enco Air5 uses the 12mm dynamic driver, which is quite large for in-ear wireless earbuds. Oppo said these drivers are designed to deliver deeper, punchier, and more accurate bass, along with decent vocals and treble performance, resulting in better performance than its predecessor, the Oppo Enco Air4. Likewise, it supports AAC and SBC codecs, as well as Spatial sound effects on mobile devices. This is said to add an extra dimension to your music, movies, and gaming experience. To back this up, it has a 47ms low-latency mode for lag-free gaming when you activate the gaming mode.

For call, Oppo has a triple-mic setup on each bud with an AI noise-reduction algorithm so that ambient noise does not affect your speech delivery during a call. Interestingly, Oppo also claims to offer vocal clarity at wind speeds up to 25 km/h, which we have seen in their higher-end Pro earbuds, such as the Oppo Enco Air5 Pro.
In terms of noise cancellation, Oppo Enco Air5 offers up to 52dB ANC, which should be enough to shut out intense background sounds like a plane engine, subway rumble, or a busy office environment. Here, you get intelligent automatic switching covering a 5000Hz frequency range.
Battery and Connectivity
In terms of battery life, the Oppo Enco Air5 packs a 530mAh battery in its charging case. With ANC, the battery life of these buds is limited to 6.5 hours, which can be extended to 27 hours with the charging case. In normal use without ANC, Oppo said the buds offer up to 13 hours of battery life and, with the case, up to 54 hours of total playback time. And if you are out of time, just 10 minutes of charging can give you up to 4 hours of playtime with these earbuds.

Battery life actually looks impressive here, especially for users who travel frequently and have no dedicated time for charging their earbuds every day. For connectivity, this bud uses Bluetooth 6.1, which is said to provide a wireless connection up to 10 meters.

App compatibility and customizations
Likewise, the Oppo Enco Air5 comes with a 10-band custom EQ for personalized sound tuning alongside the preset mode. If you have a phone from another brand, this feature is available via the HeyMelody app on the Play Store and Apple App Store. And if you're on the latest model of an Oppo, OnePlus, or Realme phone, then you dont even need this app, as these features are available in your phone's native Bluetooth settings menu. Here, you also have the option for a dual-device connection, which lets you pair these buds with your phone and tablet simultaneously.

Moreover, you can also control the ANC modes on these buds, including deep, medium, light, and transparency. Here, you can also customize gestures for more personalized control of the buds. Plus, you get remote camera control and AI translation in over 24 languages via the phone with ColorOS/OxygenOS, rather than processing them locally.
