Redmi Earbuds S launched: Is it the best TWS earbuds in its price-range?

Redmi Earbuds S launched price in nepal launch availability

A few days ago, Realme launched the new Realme Buds Air Neo, which is a decent wireless earphone under INR 3,000. Soon after that, Redmi has now launched a pair of new budget earbuds dubbed the “Redmi Earbuds S“. Let’s check out the specs, features, expected price in Nepal and availability of Redmi Earbuds S.

Redmi Earbuds S Overview

The new Redmi Earbuds isn’t a new product in itself. It’s just a rebranded Redmi AirDots S, that was launched about a month ago in China. Given the price and the launch period, it will go head to head to with Realme’s Buds Air.

During the launch event, Realme India’s CEO, Madhav Seth claimed that Realme Buds Air was the second best selling wireless earbuds in India. So, it will be interesting to see how the two new earbuds perform in the market.

Design and Display

Redmi EarBuds S looks quite similar to the Redmi AirDots. Unlike the Buds Air Neo, it doesn’t copy the design of the Apple Airpods. It is small, compact, and goes right into your ears. You don’t get any stem hanging outside of your ear. There’s one color option – Black. Both Earbuds S and Buds Air Neo are light at 4.1 grams per earbud.

Driver and Connectivity

Redmi Earbuds S features a 7.2 mm sound driver with DS intelligent technology for ambient noise cancellation. It is based on Bluetooth 5.0 technology and can connect to the device within the 10-meter radius. Xiaomi claims that the chip allows up to 2x data transfer compared to its Redmi Airdots.

Redmi has included a mono mode which wasn’t there in the original Airdots. With this, you can connect a single earbud at a time. The brand has also made the switching between mono and stereo mode smooth and hassle-free.

Redmi Buds s low latency mode

Like its competitor, it also has a low latency mode for gamers. It can be activated with a double click. Upon activation, it will limit latency to 122ms by reducing transmission and with better sync between audio and video.

Battery and Durability

Each earbud equips a 43mAh battery. On a single charge, the earbud will last up to 4 hours which can be extended to 12 hours using the charging case. The charging case has a capacity of 300mAh and can be charged using a micro-USB port. It also has an IPX4 rating against splash damage.
