With this average camera setup, can this phone compete in the premium mid-range segment?

Vivo has expanded its premium mid-range Y-series with the Vivo Y600 Turbo in China. With this series of phones, Vivo is focusing more on packing in a large battery, as we recently saw with the Vivo Y600 Pro. Here, this phone comes with a massive battery that can easily last more than a day, targeting users who want long battery life. In this article, I will explain the new Vivo Y600 Turbo in detail, including its expected price in Nepal, specifications, and availability.
Vivo Y600 Turbo Overview
Long-lasting battery, but average cameras
Starting off, the Vivo Y600 Turbo packs a 9020mAh Li-ion battery that is said to last more than a day, even when you play games. Along with this, the phone also supports 90W fast charging to quickly power the battery. It also has reverse-wired charging and Bypass charging, which will be a highlight if you are looking for this phone for gaming. And Vivo also claims that the battery retains at least 80% health even after 1,200 charge cycles.

For optics, Vivo keeps things simple with its 50MP f/1.8 primary sensor paired with a 2MP f/2.4 depth sensor, delivering precise background blur in portrait shots. While Vivo packs only an 8MP f/2.05 front camera for selfies and video calls. The surprising part of this camera setup is that Vivo has given the front module autofocus (AF), while the depth sensor still relies on fixed focus (FF). This is just the opposite of what we usually see on other phones.
However, the lack of an ultrawide camera on this phone is quite disappointing compared to other phones in this price segment, such as the Poco F8 Pro Max and the OnePlus Nord 6. Even its own Vivo V70 FE has better cameras than this phone, which falls in the lower price segment.
Performance and Software
Under the hood, the Vivo Y600 Turbo uses the mid-range Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 SoC, built on a 4nm octa-core architecture. With this chip, you can expect better battery performance and more stable temperatures during heavy tasking on this phone. And this is the same chip we saw in mid-range phones such as OnePlus Nord CE 6, Redmi 15 Pro Plus, Motorola Edge 70 Fusion, and Nothing Phone 4a.

Based on the phones already using this chip, we can expect strong mid-range performance from this phone too. To maintain this performance, the Vivo Y600 Turbo also features a 7K Ice Dome VC Liquid cooling system alongside the graphite heat dissipation layer for better heat conductivity. So, you might not experience thermal throttling in this phone even when playing graphics-intensive games like Genshin Impact and COD.
Memory-wise, it supports up to 12GB dual-channel LPDDR4X RAM and up to 512GB UFS 3.1 internal storage. On the software side, this phone runs OriginOS 6 on top of Android 16, which includes smart AI tools alongside AI photography tools. Though they don't mention the updates explicitly, we can expect at least 2 major OS upgrades and 3 years of security patches, as with every other premium mid-range Vivo phone.

Design and Display
Moving on, the Vivo Y600 Turbo sports a clean, modern design with flat sides and slightly curved edges for a comfortable grip. And despite packing a large battery, Vivo has managed to keep the slim profile by measuring only 8.29 mm thick. The 215-gram weight of this phone is also quite competitive compared with other large-screen devices on the market. And for ingress protection, this phone has IP68 and IP69 ratings against dust and water. Here you can choose between “Sand Dune Gold”, "Millennium Pink", and “Electric Blue” finishes.

In terms of display, it packs a huge 6.83-inch AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution that offers a 94.47% screen-to-body ratio, all thanks to its thin bezels and a tiny punch-hole cutout on the front. This phone also supports smart refresh rate switching between 60Hz, 90Hz, and 120Hz, depending on the task you are performing. And the brightness of this phone is also quite impressive with 2000-nit HBM, letting you use it under direct sunlight without much struggle.
The Vivo Y600 Turbo also features 4320Hz high-frequency PWM dimming to reduce eye strain during extended use. You can also expect a good pop of colors when watching HDR content, as it supports 1.07 billion colors and P3 color coverage.
