Intel has announced its newest and most powerful desktop processor to date, the Core i9-13900KS, which is a special edition model of the 13900K. It boasts an impressive top speed of 6GHz, making it the world’s first chip to achieve this feat. More about the Intel Core i9-13900KS along with its expected price in Nepal here.
Intel Core i9-13900KS Overview:
The Core i9-13900KS is able to reach its astounding top speed of 6GHz without the need for overclocking, thanks to Intel’s Thermal Velocity Boost technology. This level of performance, however, comes at a cost, as the processor requires a significant amount of power to keep running.
To compare, the base power of the 13900K was 125 watts, but Intel has increased it to 150 watts on the 13900KS. This makes it the world’s most power-hungry desktop PC processor at its base TDP. At max turbo power, the processor is able to hit 253 watts. Whereas, there’s a new Extreme Power Delivery Profile that enables up to 320W with an ICCMax of 400A.

Aside from the difference in power and turbo frequency, the i9-13900KS is very similar to the 13900K. That is, it uses the same 24-core architecture, with 8 performance cores and 16 efficiency cores. However, the performance core’s base frequency has been increased from 3.0GHz to 3.2GHz.
The rest of the specs are the same: 32 threads, 36MB of Intel Smart Cache, and 20 PCIe lanes (16 PCIe 5 and four PCIe 4 lanes). As a result, with a BIOS update, the i9-13900KS supports both the Z790 and Z690 motherboards that are compatible with the 13900K.
Unfortunately, Intel has not released any benchmarks or performance details about the processor, so you will have to wait for third-party reviews.
