Motorola Moto G87 Price in Nepal

Alongside the announcement of the Moto G37, Motorola also introduced its new premium mid-range Moto G87. This new phone from Motorola is the direct successor of the Moto G77 that we saw last year. This year, new smartphones are coming with better cameras, sharper displays, and greater durability, which I will explain later. Right now, let's discuss the details, including the expected price of the Moto G87 in Nepal, its specifications, and its availability.

      Motorola Moto G87 Overview

Tough build paired with Vivid display

Keeping a similar build to the Moto G77, Motorola aims to improve this phone's durability. To achieve that, they are providing you with the IP66, IP68, and IP69 ingress protection ratings, while to ensure further durability, this phone also holds the MIL-STD certification. With this protection, this phone should work pretty smoothly for underwater photography.

      Motorola Moto G87 Display

Moving on, the display of this phone also looks pretty decent, with a 6.78-inch AMOLED panel and 1.5K (1272 x 2772 pixels) resolution, which is the sweet spot for a phone like the Moto G87. This resolution will work well for offering more details on the screen than the FHD+ resolution. The cherry on top for this phone is its 5000-nit peak brightness, which is higher than that of many flagship devices on the market. With this, you might have a great visual experience, and the HDR highlights on the phone should “pop” nicely.

Also, the screen scrolling on this phone should be smooth enough thanks to its 120Hz refresh rate. This phone also has 100% P3 color coverage, which should make the visuals on the screen closer to true life.

Motorola is also offering Corning Gorilla Glass 7i, which provides better durability by protecting your phone during accidental drops. And they are not disappointing us with the color theme either. They have maintained the subtle vibes with “Phatone Overture” while giving a more vibrant vibe with “Phatnoe Blue Atoll”.

Is the 200MP Camera fully used?

The other major highlight I noticed on this phone is the optics. Here in Moto G87, you can see a major upgrade with the main sensor. They left behind the 108MP sensor we saw in its predecessor and moved to a 200MP f/1.8 main sensor paired with the old 8MP f/2.2 ultrawide lens. With OIS on the back camera, your video content should look smoother and more stable, and low-light photography should also look more detailed.

With this major upgrade, you can now record 2K videos from the back panel, which is decent for a premium mid-range phone, as phones like the Poco X8 Pro Max offer better video resolution with smaller MP camera hardware than the Moto G87. This looks like the classic “bottleneck” situation for Motorola, caused by a mismatch of the camera hardware and chip selection.

Up front, the 32MP f/2.2 sensor remains the same as in its predecessor for selfies and video calls. With this front camera, you can also record 2K videos.

      Motorola cut corners on Performance

As I said, this phone has been upgraded in many respects, but Motorola messed up the chip selection. They use the same MediaTek Dimensity 6400 Soc built on a 6nm processor that we saw in its predecessor. Phones like the Honor X9d and the Infinix Note 60 Pro are examples that have the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 and Snapdragon 7s Gen 4, respectively, which deliver way better and faster performance than this MediaTek budget SoC. This might cause the Moto G87's performance to fall short in real-world scenarios.

Memory-wise, the Moto G87 offers 4/8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128/256GB of UFS 2.2 storage. And if you run out of storage, you can use a microSD to expand it up to 2TB, while you can also virtually boost RAM up to 24GB.

Setting everything aside, the Moto G87 has upgraded the “My UX” and moved to the “Hello UI” on top of Android 16 right out of the box for a cleaner, more intuitive UI experience. While it only promises one major OS update and up to 4-year security patches, I feel this phone is lagging behind its competition, like Samsung, for long-term use.

      Battery and others

As for power, the Moto G87 packs a 5200mAh battery with 30W TurboPower charging for quick top-up. You can expect this phone to last a day on casual use. It also provides Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4 for wireless connectivity. Motorola is also claiming this phone offers louder audio than its predecessor.
