Meta announces its first ever Orion AR glasses with holographics display

0

Meta has launched its new Orion AR glasses, designed to connect digital information with the physical environment. In this article, we will cover the latest Meta Orion AR Glasses, including its features.

Meta Orion AR Glasses Overview

Display and Design

Meta Orion AR Glasses

According to Meta, They feature holographic displays that enable wearers to view 2D and 3D content overlaying objects in their line of sight. Orion incorporates micro LED projectors that improve color accuracy and brightness. The optical-grade silicon carbide lenses provide an approximate 70-degree field of view, which is currently the widest in the AR glasses market. Additionally, the lightweight magnesium frames help distribute weight for comfort during use.

Tracking Capabilities

These glasses come equipped with miniaturized cameras and sensors that track eye, hand, and environmental movements. This technology helps the glasses understand the user’s surroundings. The wireless design eliminates the need for cables, allowing users to move freely while using the device.

Features

Users can control Orion through voice commands, eye movements, and hand gestures. The glasses also include electromyography (EMG) technology in a wristband, which allows for discreet control without requiring hands to be visible. This feature is particularly useful in dimly lit or crowded spaces.

Meta orion ar features

Moreover, Orion enables users to make calls, take photos, and access videos and games. It pairs with a wristband to help users navigate the content displayed.

Meta Orion AR Glasses Overview: Pricing and Future

Zuck says the production cost for the Orion glasses is estimated at $10,000 per pair, primarily due to the silicon carbide lenses used in the current prototypes. Meta plans to explore alternative materials in future models to enhance resolution and reduce costs.

While Orion is not ready for consumer release, it is a well-developed prototype. Meta will gather feedback from select users to improve the product further. The company aims to release new devices in the coming years based on ongoing research and development.

Acer Aspire 5 with Core i5 12450H is up for grabs this Dashain!

0

One of the older Aspire notebooks from Acer is now available for a great discount so we’ve decided to dedicate this article to give you a short glimpse of its features, and offerings. Here, we will cover the Acer Aspire 5 (i5 12450H), its specs, and current Dashain Offer pricing and availability.

Acer Aspire 5 (i5 12450H) Overview

It’s got power at an affordable price

One of the major highlights of this Aspire 5 is definitely the H-class chip inside. It’s got an 8 Core (4 Performance + 4 Efficiency) i5 12450H Intel CPU that clocks up to 4.4GHz. With this, you can not only hope for snappy single-core performance for everyday activities like launching applications and exploring the web but also take on heavier things like rendering for example.

Intel cpu

Unfortunately, the catch here is that there is no dedicated GPU and the one inside the i5 12450H is also Intel’s weaker UHD graphics and not Iris Xe. As such, gaming is mostly a no-go here. There’s also an Aspire 7 available in the market that has the same Intel CPU but with an NVIDIA RTX 2050 (4GB), but that one’s about 30% more expensive. So yeah, for the price, this one’s still very well specced.

Design and Display

Talking of other things like the build, it’s just about what you’d expect from a budget notebook. You are getting an 18mm thick machine that weighs about 1800 grams and is made mostly out of plastic. That’s not exactly heavy or bulky for a laptop so it’d be perfect for students and office folks. The weight of the charging brick isn’t specified but given the 90W label and drawing from experience, the overall package of around 2 kilos for everyday commute is just about the sweet spot.

Acer Aspire 5 i5 Dashain Offer

Moreover, the 15.6-inch screen is an IPS panel with a Full HD resolution and 16:9 aspect ratio. The colors, refresh rate, and brightness levels aren’t especially interesting but hey look at that price tag once more.

Battery and Others

Now that we are done with the major stuff, other things like battery life, ports, and connectivity also deserve mention. The battery is unfortunately the same 50Wh cell you’d get in the U-powered laptops so expect less than 4 hours of battery life because of the more powerful CPU. Onto the ports, there’s a Thunderbolt 4 port, so you can reduce some of the heft I talked about earlier by using a PD charger for both your phone and laptop. Complementing that you get three 5Gbps Type-A ports, an HDMI, an ethernet jack, and a 3.5mm audio port. Additionally, you get a backlit keyboard and a fingerprint sensor too. Regardless to say, it’s a lot of features for a budget machine.

Acer Aspire 5 (2022) Specifications:

  • Design & Build: Plastic chassis, 1.77kilo
  • Display: 15.6-inch IPS panel, 16:9 aspect ratio, 45% NTSC, 250 nits
  • Resolution: FHD (1920 × 1080 pixels)

Acer Aspire 5 (i5 12450H) Dashain Offer

Now, I know I’ve been teasing on the ‘price’ aspect of this for long so let’s get to that. For the ‘Steel Grey’ i5 variant of the Acer Aspire 5, with the Festive Offer, the effective price is just NPR 69,999 for the 16 GB RAM, 512GB SSD variant. Given all the things we talked about, that’s an excellent deal and we highly encourage you to check it if you are in the market for a powerful yet affordable notebook.

Tecno Pop 9 5G announced with 48MP Sony AI camera and NFC support

0

Tecno launched the Spark Go 1 in the Nepali market a few days ago. Now, the Transsion Holdings subsidiary just announced the Pop 9 5G in our neighbouring country — India. This new phone comes with a 48MP Sony AI camera, which is apparently the first time in the segment. In this article, we will discuss the Tecno Pop 9 5G in further detail, including its expected price in Nepal.

Tecno Pop 9 5G Overview

Design and Display

The latest Tecno offering is a pretty standard-looking phone that comes with IP54 water and dust resistance. It ships in three colours: Midnight Shadow, Azure Sky, and Aurora Cloud. If you do not like the default choices, Tecno has included two poppy vibrant looking skins with the Pop 9 in the box. The latter two options have a patterned finish, while the former is a monotone option. Its camera setup looks pretty interesting — it is an awful lot like the iPhone 16‘s cutout, sitting inside a larger squircle island.

Almost all the information on the display of the Tecno Pop 9 is under wraps at this time. We do not know the panel type or the resolution. Even the screen size is currently unknown. However, the company did reveal that it is a 120Hz display.

Performance

Under the hood, it has a MediaTek Dimensity 6300, an entry-level 5G chipset. It has eight cores, comes in 6nm fabbing, and offers a peak clock speed of 2.4GHz. Similarly, the Tecno Pop 9 is available in two different configurations: 4GB + 64GB, and 4GB + 128GB. The phone allows you to virtually expand the memory by an addition 8GB.

Tecno Pop 9 Performance

Furthermore, it boots on Android 14 with the company’s custom UI on top. In the tank, it has a 5,000 mAh battery with 18W charging support.

Camera and the rest

One of the main highlight of this phone is that it comes with 48MP primary camera with Sony IMX582 sensor underneath. Though there is an extra cutout on the back, there are no auxiliary lenses. Meanwhile, the company has not specified the specs of the front camera.

Tecno Pop 9 Camera

Another attractive feature of the Tecno Pop 9 is that it has NFC support, which as per the company is a first-time in the 5G phones in this price segment. Other than that, this phone has dual speakers with Dolby Atmos support and an IR blaster with which you can control other appliances in your home.

Vivo V40 review: Zeiss lens, Premium looks & IP68 Rating in a midrange price

0

Vivo V40 landed in Nepal a week ago and we are here with its review. This new midrange offering comes in a new design, the same Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chip from last year’s Vivo V30 but with ZEISS branding. And I have been using this phone for weeks already. And here in this Vivo V40 review article, I will share all of my experience regarding its camera, battery, display, and all!

Before that, let’s get into the specs of the Vivo V40 first!

Preorder Vivo V40 5G Here!

Vivo V40 Review:

A Nice Design

Vivo phones are known for nice designs and the Vivo V40 continues the legacy. This curved beauty with a curved middle frame gives a nice feel to my hands. And despite boasting a 5500mAh battery, this phone is slim. This Moonlight White variant I have has a matte finish and that’s why there are no fingerprint smudges. Besides this shade, you can also opt for Nebula Purple. The camera module is new this time with a circular main module with an elongated pill shape holding a flash and a Flicker sensor. And the IP68 rating is a worry-free feature against dust and water splashes.

A Gorgeous Display

Like the Vivo V30, the display on this year’s model gets no complaints. The 6.78-inch AMOLED panel has a 120Hz refresh rate, a peak brightness of 4,500ntis, and 1200nits of HBM. So be it for multimedia usage or normal tasks, the V40’s screen feels great to use, thanks to the 100% DCI-P3 and 105% NTSC color gamut. And yeah, Vivo has finally brought a stereo speaker setup on the vanilla V series phone which was missing on its predecessors. It’s pretty sharp and fairly loud while the bass is not that great. But the haptics are still buzzy and it is not acceptable for a premium midranger!

Vivo V40 Media Playback

Talking of the refresh rate, it is well-optimized and changes as per the refresh on the screen. No, it’s not LTPO for sure, but it can switch between 60Hz and 90Hz and 60Hz, 90Hz, and 120Hz  in smart refresh rate mode and high refresh rate mode respectively. So, I would suggest you go for the latter one if you are fond of using 120Hz smoothness, albeit for the sake of slightly less battery life.

Performance

Now, comes the performance and it’s the literal same processor from V30, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3, which is not exactly a bummer, but Vivo should have provided a performance upgrade for the price it is asking for! The SD 7 Gen 3 still works great for normal usage as well as for gaming. I’m talking about 60fps gaming PUBG, 80fps on Mobile Legends Bang Bang, and some 47fps on Genshin Impact. The latter one is one of the heaviest games ever made for a smartphone, so, it’s pretty imminent for SD 7 Gen 3 to stutter here.

Vivo V40 Gaming

And during normal usage, I found the phone to be a bit sluggish here and there. That’s why a Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 or at least a Dimesnity 9200 would have been the key or a phone costing 66,000 rupees.

FunTouch OS 14

The phone runs on FunTouch OS 14 which is, of course, based on Android 14. It comes with a few bloatware but no ads! To be honest, I have never been a fan of this skin as it is boring despite having some customization features. But some of you might like it so, I should not complain much about this department. Vivo is providing three years of OS updates and four years of security patches.

ZEISS Camera

The camera resolutions this time are unchanged, it’s the 50MP trio, two on the back and one on the front. But ZEISS coating is here marking some sort of a premium feature on a midrange as it’s a top-notch lens maker. And the cameras are pretty impressive, although, I would have been more happier if a telephoto lens was provided!

Vivo V40 Camera

Daylight

As expected, the daylight images are quite punchy with good details and a very decent dynamic range. You get ZEISS natural mode and Vivid mode here. I loved the latter one while you can go for the natural mode if you prefer a natural tone. And the ultrawide camera is equally beautiful as well.

Portraits

The 50MP main camera is the sole thing for portraits as there is no tele lens as aforementioned. But, the focal length options are the savior here allowing you to capture some good-looking portraits at 24mm, 35mm, and 50mm. So, it’s safe to stay, it kind of suffices the need for a 2X telephoto. And the outputs are also punchy and social media-ready.

Nighttime

When the sun goes down, the normal mode of the Vivo V40 is more than enough to capture nice low-light shots. You wouldn’t want to use the dedicated night mode as it overprocesses the images to my liking!

Selfies

It’s a Vivo phone, so, good selfies are mandatory. And the V40 fills in the steps with ease. The selfies are nice with good skin tone although a bit smoothened. But I can bet, most of us will surely go for a smoothened look than the natural looks, we see every day in the mirror!

Videos

Alright, the video section is sorted for up to 4K 30fps recording. Turning on the stabilization makes it better than the default mode. The front can also shoot at the same resolution, but there is no stabilization option.

Battery Life and Connectivity

Now, let’s talk about the battery. You get a 5500mAh cell powering this guy, a 500mAh more battery power than the last gen. I got around 6.5 hours of SOT here which is just fine but I have also seen other 5500mAh phones granting you over 7 to 7.5 hours of battery life. But it’s not a major thing to be concerned over and the 80W charger in the box saves the day by topping off the V40 in just an hour.

Vivo V40 Charging

Connectivity-wise, you are sorted with 5G, 4G VoLTE, Carrier Video Calling, and WiFi calling. The unit I’m using is an Indian variant though, so there is no Band 20 support, barring my unit from enjoying carrier aggregation on the NTC network. But the one that has launched in Nepal has support for all the bands of local telcos, so it is not an issue. In short, the connectivity section is pretty neat!

Vivo V40 Review: Conclusion

Okay, let’s come to the conclusion guys. So, the Vivo V40 is a decent option for someone who’s not looking for the absolute beast for the price in terms of performance. Realme GT 6T is for that with Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3. Besides that, the cameras are good here and the looks and feel of this phone are premium as well as the battery life is great.

Vivo V40 Camera Casual

But I’d say, the pricing could have been more aggressive here, given the competition has another camera-centric contender, the Honor 200 with a 3X telephoto lens and overall good camera performance.

Vivo V40 Review: Pros and Cons

 Pros

  • Premium design
  • Great display
  • Good ZEISS optimization
  • Good battery life

Cons

  • Performance could have been better
  • No telephoto lens for the price

Realme launches Narzo N61 in Nepal with metallic frame

Realme launched the C61 smartphone a little back and it entered the Nepali market some months ago. Now the company has launched the phone under the Narzo N Series in Nepal. This Realme Narzo N61 comes with a solid build and UNISOC T612 SoC. Let’s take a look at the Realme Narzo N61 in further detail while also discussing its official price in Nepal.

Realme Narzo N61 Overview

Design and Display

The Realme Narzo N61 is basically the same phone as the Realme C61. This reigns true in terms of design and even their promotional materials. But that is a good thing though, because this phone also features Realme’s ArmorShell protection. It is a combination of multiple things like metal build and frame, reinforced glass, coated protection film, shock-absorbing internals, silicone strips and foams, etc. All this adds to the durability of the phone and as a result, it is TÜV Rheinland certified for high reliability. It also comes with IP54 water and dust resistance.

Realme Narzo N61 Design

On the front, the phone has a 6.74-inch display with HD+ resolution. The company shies away from mentioning the panel type of the Realme Narzo N61. This leads us to believe that it is a TFT LCD, which is a cheaper panel option commonly seen in this price range. Other than that, the screen is capable of a 90Hz refresh rate, a 180Hz touch sampling rate, and a peak brightness of up to 560 nits.

Performance and Software

The primary driver on the Realme Narzo N61 is the UNISOC T612 chipset. It is a relatively low-powered silicon that comes in a 12nm fabrication. Furthermore, the processor has eight cores, clocks in at 1.8 GHz, and scores over 250,000 on AnTuTu. Meanwhile, the phone is available in two configurations: 4GB + 64GB, and 6GB + 128GB. It also allows you to expand the memory and storage by up to 6GB and 2TB via software and MicroSD card respectively.

Realme Narzo N61 AI Boost

In terms of software, the phone boots on the Realme UI based on Android 14. The company ensures that it will offer a lag-free experience for four years. The Realme Narzo N61 also comes with AI Boost Engine that smoothens the performance and improves the frame rate during demanding activities like gaming and multitasking. It also comes with Mini Capsule 2.0 which is Apple’s Dynamic Island knock-off and Rainwater Smart Touch that improves touch recognition even when your hands or screen is wet.

Camera and the rest

Optics-wise, you get a 32MP primary shooter and a 5MP selfie camera. There is also an auxiliary lens on the back. However, its purpose has not been stated. It is likely a dummy unit just for show. In the tank, the Realme Narzo N61 packs a 5,000 mAh battery that supports moderate 10W charging. For wireless connectivity, it has dual SIM, 4G LTE, dual-band WiFi, and Bluetooth v5.0. On the other hand, for wired connections, the phone has a USB Type-C port as well as a 3.5mm headphone jack.
