Two variants of Infinix Zero 40 spotted online

Infinix is working on its next batch of products and we have already heard about the Hot 50 series and their first-ever folding phone. Now information about another one of their offerings has started surfacing. In this article, we will discuss all the rumours and talks surrounding the Infinix Zero 40 series in further detail.

Infinix Zero 40 Series Rumour Round-up

The Tech Outlook has been rigorously following the recent developments on the Infinix Zero 40 series. All the information on the 4G as well as the 5G variant of the phone is a courtesy to them.

Certifications

Both phones have appeared on different certification sites including FCC, Geekbench, and BIS. They also appeared on TÜV Rheinland and Google Console databases. While we could see their model number on all the listings, the latter site revealed the marketing monikers of the phone as well.

These phones will go by “Infinix ZERO 40” and “Infinix ZERO 40 5G”. The former’s model number is “X6860” and the latter’s is X6861”. The Google Console listing also revealed some key specs of both phones.

Some key specs

Infinix ZERO 40

The listing reveals that at least one of the variants of the phone will come with 8GB RAM. Likewise, an earlier FCC listing suggested it could have 512 GB  storage. Furthermore, the phone will boot on Android 14 and run with a processor dubbed “Mediatek MT6789”. The silicon has two Cortex-A76 clocking at 2.2GHz and six Cortex-A55 @2.0GHz.

While the listing does not exclusively mention the name of the chipset, sources are expecting it to be MediaTek Helio G99. Additionally, the phone will pack a display with 1,080 x 2,436 resolution and 480 PPI pixel density. Meanwhile, the TÜV Rheinland listing reveals that the Infinix Zero 40 has a 4,900mAh battery.

Infinix ZERO 40 5G

Similarly, the 5G variant of the phone was seen rocking 12GB memory which is 50% larger than that of the 4G variant. In the meantime, it comes with the “Mediatek MT6896Z/CZA” processor, which could either be MediaTek Dimensity 8200 or 8200 Ultimate. Regardless, it will be an eight-core chipset with a maximum frequency of 3.1GHz.

Infinix Zero 40 5G Blueprint

Other than that, the screen resolution, pixel density, and battery capacity on the Infinix Zero 40 5G is the same as its 4G counterpart. We got to the design blueprint of this phone as well. However, both variants of the phone will likely look the same from the outside, apart from colour differences.

Infinix Zero 40 Series Launch and Availability

While we do not exactly know when the Infinix Zero 40 series will launch, it seems an Infinix launch event is near the horizon with the sheer number of leaks surfacing. Hence, we can expect both phones to be announced at that time.

Infinix entering the foldable market too — it’ll be a clamshell

Infinix is well-known for offering premium features at an affordable price. Recently they equipped most of their Note 40 series phones with magnetic wireless charging — which even popular flagship phones lack. Given that, it is extremely exciting to hear that the company will be also stepping into the foldable market! Their first offering will apparently be called Infinix Zero Flip and we are here to talk all about it.

Infinix Zero Flip Rumour Round-up

Certifications

Infinix Zero Flip has been picking up certifications left, right, and centre. Sources have spotted the phone on multiple platforms including BIS, FCC, NBTC, and TÜV Rheinland Japan.

Even though the phone has appeared on different sites, barely any information has leaked about it. On all those sites, it carries the model number “X6962”. However, none of those listings mentions the name “Infinix Zero Flip”. The naming stems from a supposed leak from X user Sanju Choudhary.

Leaks

The tipster posted a blueprint of the phone’s design along with some key specs. As per the post, the Infinix Zero Flip will come with over six inches of flexible AMOLED panel. This screen will be capable of variable refresh rate of up to 120Hz. No information on the phone’s SoC is available as of now. However, through the BIS listing, we can tell it will be a 5G processor.

Infinix Zero Flip Blueprint

Other than that, one of the configurations that the Infinix Zero Flip will be available will be with 8GB memory and 512GB storage. Furthermore, it will have a dual camera setup on the back and a singular shooter on the front for selfies. The leaker claims the battery would be 4,700 mAh with 70W fast charging support.

Battery

However, the TÜV Rheinland listing of the phone disputes the tipster’s claim on battery capacity. As per the listing, the Infinix Zero Flip has a dual-cell battery with the larger one measuring 3,410 mAh and the other being 1,180mAh. Combined, the battery totals 4,590mAh only, which is quite lower than what the leaker claimed.

This could be the battery’s rated capacity, which means the typical capacity of the battery on the upcoming foldable could nevertheless be 4,700 mAh. However, we cannot say for sure, as of now.

Infinix Zero Flip Launch and Availability

The leak claims that the phone will be available by the end of August 2024. In terms of pricing, Infinix Zero Flip is expected to land around INR 50,000. If this price stands true, it will be one of the cheapest foldable phones in the market.

All that you can do on Nagarik app

0

Nagarik App — you might have it on your phone, or at least heard about it. It is presented as if it is THE way to achieve the goal of digital Nepal. But is it? Let’s discuss further in this article along with the things you can do on the Nagarik App.

Nagarik App Overview

What is the Nagarik App?

The Nagarik App is a one-stop platform where you can find all your legal documentation developed by the Nepal Government. The app includes different types of personal documents and educational certifications. In addition, you can request different governmental services and documents through the app.

Nagarik App Features

Its beta was available on 15 January 2021 and Nagarik App was formally launched on National ICT Day (2 May) the same year. The app carries the slogan “support of communication and information technology, government services hand in hand”. Since its release, it has amassed over 800,000 downloads altogether. The services on the app have also been expanding since its release.

What’s in the Nagarik App?

You can find numerous features and services in the Nagarik App. The app has been deeply integrated with the SIM card to ensure user identity and security. Meanwhile, there are a total of 25 segments of services available in the app as of now.

A) SIM Card Integration

To register in the Nagarik App, you’ll have to enter your mobile number. After which you will receive an OTP to proceed. Then you will be asked to verify with any of the following documents:

  1. Citizenship
  2. Driving Licence (Smart Only)
  3. Passport
  4. Voter Card

The point to be noted here is the Citizen App Operation Guideline – 2077 requires you to have the phone number registered in your name. Hence, you can only use Nagarik App if you have a SIM. This SIM integration ensures that no one else can misuse your details while also safeguarding your privacy.

B) Legal ID

The Nagarik App serves as a one-stop location for all legal IDs. You can access the many different documents from the app, however, you will have to link them for the first time (except for citizenship). Here are all the legal IDs you can link and access through the Nagarik App:

1. Citizenship

Citizenship is the most important document that indicates that you are a citizen of any given country. Once you register into the app, the Nagarik App taps into the CIMS (Citizenship Information Management System) database to extract your citizenship details.

Nagarik app citizenship

Still, it asks you to confirm if the document information being displayed on the Nagarik App is correct or not. You can request correction if any info is incorrect. After this, you can easily access your citizenship details right from the app apart from the photograph and fingerprint.

2. Permanent Account Number (PAN)

It also has access to IRD (Inland Revenue Department) allowing you to get legitimate details of your PAN card. You can also access your tax history right from the app.

Nagarik app PAN

The cherry on top is, you can apply for a PAN card through the Nagarik App if you don’t already have it!

3. Driving Licence

Likewise, you can link and display your driving licence through the Nagarik app. However, this service is only available for those with a digital driving licence. Additionally, you can check the traffic rule violation record as well.

The app pulls this information through the Department of Transport Management. While the app does allow you to link a pre-existing digital driving licence, you cannot apply for a new one like a PAN card. Or even check the license print status.

4. Passport

Similarly, you can also like your passport on the Nagarik app. However, it is unclear if only e-passports can be linked to the app or the old ones too.

In the meantime, check out how to apply for an e-passport.

5. Voter Card

Another one of the legal IDs that you can link in the Nagarik app is your Voter Card. The information displayed here is extracted from the books of the Election Commission which oversees the issuance and datakeeping of everything related to elections.

C) Personal Certificates

Apart from the legal IDs you can also link and access other personal certificates. Such as:

1. Educational Certificates

You can link the graduation certificates of your national-level examination from grades 10 and 12. This means you access SLC/SEE as well as HSEB/NEB certificates on the Nagarik app.

Sadly, you cannot link your Bachelor’s or higher degree on the app as of now. Hopefully in the future.

2. Health Insurance

The next service you can link to the Nagrik app is your state-offered health insurance details. In other words, you can get the details of the service you are receiving from the Health Insurance Board (HIB).

HIB Banner

However, it appears that the HIB database is not up to date. This is because when I tried linking by insurance to the app, it could not find it. This could be an issue for the folks from Kathmandu and Lalitpur only, as those districts were the last to receive the service.

3. Electricity

The Nagarik app also supports the linking of Nepal Electricity Authority IDs. You need not have your name on the metre box to link the NEA ID. After linking, you can check the statement and the issued electricity bills.

4. Drinking Water

You can also link your drinking water — more specifically KUKL ID, to the Nagarik app. KUKL if you don’t know, is a semi-government entity that oversees the drinking water supply in the Kathmandu Valley.

By linking your KUKL ID to the Nagarik app, you can see the billing details on your drinking water connection.

5. Land

Similarly, you can enter the 11-character Landowner Identification Number and have your land linked to the Nagarik app. The service is also known and is cited in the app as Malpot.

D) Funds

Along with the extremely essential personal details, the Nagarik app also has a record of the funds you have contributed to. There are three fund details you can check:

  1. Citizen Investment Trust (CIT)
  2. Social Security Fund
  3. Employee Provident Fund

National Funds

E) Services

Similar to how you can apply for a PAN card in the Nagarik app, you can also apply for other services. Such as:

1. Police Clearance Report

When applying for the Police Clearance Report through the Nagarik app, the applicated goes straight to Nepal Police Headquarter. After the process is complete, you can also download the report straight from the app.

Online Police Clearance Registration System

If you require the Police Clearance Report for purposes inside the country, having linked citizenship is sufficient. However, if you need to apply for your visa, you need to have your passport linked.

2. NOC

Similarly, you can also apply for the No Objection Certificate (NOC) for foreign studies. The app allows you to fill out the entire form for the certificate.

3. DOFE

Services related to the Department of Foreign Employment are available in the Nagarik app too. But you will have to link your passport to access them.

4. Lok Sewa

Lok Sewa is a coveted exam that one must clear to secure a government job. And to take that examination, you need a Lok Sewa Master ID. You can apply for a new one through the Nagarik app. Meanwhile, if you already have one, you can apply for various government vacancies accordingly.

5. Hello Sarkar

The “Hello Sarkar” is a feature where you lodge a complaint about any of your issues. You can also see the complaints other countrymen have dropped.

6. Nagarik Pahichaan Dwar

The Nagarik Pahichaan Dwar was one of the most interesting features brought forth when the Nagarik app was launched. This feature was designed such that banks or any other institution could access all the necessary details through the app.

Nagarik Pahichaan Dwar

For this to work, the bank would have a QR code, which you would scan, and the bank would receive all the necessary documents including Voter ID, Citizen profile, mobile number, citizenship details, and passport details. Nepal Bank and Siddhartha Bank went ahead with this partnership, however, it could not catch on as expected.

F) Other IDs

There are a handful of other IDs that you can link in the Nagarik app. This includes:

1. PMEP

PMEP i.e. Prime Minister Employment Programme was brought forth such that individuals could find employment opportunities more easily. If you are enrolled on the programme and have a PMEP ID, you can link it to the Nagarik app.

2. Press ID

If you are a reporter under the Department of Information Broadcasting (DOIB) or Communication Registration Office (CRO), Bagmati, then you can link your press ID into the app as well.

3. Kitab Khana

Under Kitab Khana, records of government personnel are recorded. Here, you can link the Personnel Information System (PIS) and view the available information. This ID falls under the Department of National Personnel Records (Civil). The department oversees and ensures that all the personnel are receiving the services and pensions they are entitled to.

G) Information Access

Along with all the personal details and services, you can also get other information through the Nagarik app. This info might come in handy in your day-to-day lives, so having it at your disposal is always great.

1. My Municipality

Under this feature, you can find all the necessary information about the municipality all across the country. Here you can find the number of wards, their members and contact numbers, prime location in the municipality, the budget, and so on.

2. Nearby Police Stations

Likewise, you can also find the police station nearby with the “Nepal Police” feature. When I tried, the feature was unfortunately not working. I hope it gets fixed very soon as it is a really useful and important feature.

3. FOREX

You can also check the Forex rate a.k.a exchange rate of Nepali Rupees to 21 different currencies. You can also calculate the exchange amount as per the current exchange rate.

FOREX

4. Weather Forecast

Lastly, you can also check that particular day’s weather forecast. It includes the maximum and minimum temperature, and rainfall amount at 20 different locations across the country.

H) Frozen / Discontinued Services

While the Nagarik app surely has a lot of features and services, some of them just don’t work. There are two such services:

1. COVID Vaccination

The app introduced this feature during the coronavirus pandemic. With this feature, the government ought to streamline the applications for vaccination. In the meantime, also to provide documentation of those who were already vaccinated. Given the vaccination card was a very precious document at the time, it made sense to include it in the app.

However, this feature miserably failed as vaccinations were provided regardless of pre-registration. On the other hand, those who applied for the inclusion of vaccination cards into their documents never heard of it after that. It’s been years since the pandemic has passed, but the verification of vaccination cards is still pending because “they are taking time to verify due to overwhelming applications.”

2. VRS

Vehicle Registration System (VRS) was one of the highly praised features that was embedded into the app. With this feature, users could view their vehicle details, update it, view tax details of the vehicle, and best of all — PAY the vehicle tax.

Nagarik app VRS

Paying the vehicle tax has always been a bothersome process in Nepal complete with long lines. Thus, the Nagarik app allowing you to pay the vehicle tax through it was quite revolutionary and highly popular. But good things don’t last forever, I guess. For some unknown reason or complication, the app got rid of the VRS feature entirely without even elaborating why.

Will the Nagarik App help build a digital Nepal?

Well, sort of! It was a step towards the right direction, at least. But the implementation of it so far has been poor, to say the least. As I was covering the features of the Nagarik app, I mentioned quite a few times that those features were not working. Similarly, an app like this needs to widen its services for the country to go digital. But, quite the opposite is going on as the app got rid of a useful feature like the VRS instead.

Nagarik App Licence Notice

Then there is a whole other issue of credibility. It appears that the government bodies aren’t ready to embrace the digital future just yet. A public statement was made stating that traffic police would accept vehicle owners showing their licence through the Nagarik app. However, the very day traffic police requested to still carry the original. It was as if they were saying — we don’t think the thing you show on the app is real enough. This comes even though the app extracts the licence info from the DOTM database itself, and you can even see the past violations right at the side.

Nagarik App: Conclusion

Despite being a very good attempt, authorities aren’t treating the Nagarik seriously enough for it to have a substantial impact on building a digital Nepal. The authorities should focus on the app as it has a huge potential. Every year Nepal spends billions of Nepali rupees on printing driving licences alone. The number must be even higher when considering all the other documents.

While some nations are transporting the entire geography of the country to the digital world, we are struggling with just transporting our documentation. The whole ordeal is saddening. Hence, authorities must shift their focus to developing the Nagarik app such that it can save the government a lot of money, and offer citizens the convenience of technology.

Infinix Hot 50 series will have FIVE members!

Infinix launched the Hot 40 series near the end of last year. As per exclusive news from Gizmochina, the company is working on the successor series. In this article, we will be looking into all that we know of the Infinix Hot 50 series so far.

Infinix Hot 50 Series Overview

Let’s look back…

Before getting into the nitty-gritty of the upcoming series, let’s take a look at the Infinix Hot 40 series. The series had three members: Hot 40i, Hot 40, and Hot 40 Pro. All of them were 4G-only offerings wherein the latter two rocked MediaTek Helio chips. The former came with a UNISOC silicon and even made its way to Nepal.

Infinix Hot 40 Design
Infinix Hot 40

Apart from that, Infinix Hot 40 and Hot 40 Pro also collaborated with Free Fire for limited edition offerings.

What now?

Now the company is increasing the number of smartphones in its upcoming series. The Infinix Hot 50 series will have five different models. Gizmochina spotted these devices in the IMEI database along with their model numbers. The following are the spotted details:

Infinix Smartphone Model Number
Hot 50i X6531
Hot 50 X6882
Hot 50 5G X6720
Hot 50 Pro X6881
Hot 50 Pro+ X6880

What to expect?

Well, there is barely any information available about the upcoming series right now. We will have to look back at its predecessor to get some idea about it. No doubt, these phones will be budget phones. Hence, they will likely have low-powered chipsets.

Infinix Hot 40 Performance

The lowest offering from the series will be Infinix Hot 50i. The Hot 40i came with a UNISOC T606 processor, so we might see an incremental upgrade to T610 or T612 perhaps? Likewise, the Infinix Hot 40 was a singular offering with Helio G88 chipset. This time around, the Infinix Hot 50 will be available in 4G as well as 5G flavours. So, Infinix might go with the fairly recent 4G and older 5G chips. Meanwhile, it seems that the 50 Pro and Pro+ will both be 5G offerings, and the name suggests will likely pack even more capable processors than the base 5G model.

Infinix Hot 50 Series Launch and Availability

Only the names and model numbers of the phone series have been uncovered as of now. It will likely take a month or so for us to hear more about these phones. This means we are likely many months away from the product launch. If we are to go by the history, the Infinix Hot 50 series will likely be available near the end of 2024.

Soundcore AeroFit with open-ear fit launched in Nepal

Soundcore is the audio division of Chinese electronics manufacturer Anker Innovations Co. Ltd. It is also one of the go-to brands for audio accessories in Nepal. They recently launched open-fit earbuds in Nepal with Bluetooth v5.3 connectivity. In this article, we will look into the Soundcore AeroFit earbuds in further detail including its price in Nepal.

Soundcore AeroFit Overview

Design and Audio

As I mentioned, the Soundcore AeroFit comes in an open-fit design such that the buds go around the user’s ear. The earbuds feature an aerospace-grade titanium wire inside that allows it to retain its original shape even after 5,000 bends. They are also IPX7-rated and can withstand sweat exposure pretty easily. On top of that, these buds come in “skin-loving material” (likely silicone) which feels soft when wearing.

Soundcore AeroFit Design

For audio, these open-fit earbuds come with 14mm dynamic drivers with a titanium polymer coating on the domes. The Soundcore AeroFit offers directional acoustics with its uniquely designed nozzles. They optimise acoustic reflections allowing for precise re-direction of sound waves towards the user’s ears and preventing sound leakage. Additionally, the buds are equipped with four beamforming microphones, which are then coupled with an AI algorithm to deliver a clear calling calling experience.

Features and Battery

Talking of the features, the Soundcore AeroFit comes with touch controls, and Bluetooth v5.3 for wireless connection with your smartphone. They only support the standard AAC and SBC codecs though. These earbuds are compatible with the company’s custom earbuds app which allows you to fiddle around with settings and offers further functionalities. Starting with the multipoint connection, which connects these earbuds with up to two devices and also allows you to switch between them. Likewise, you also get access to custom EQs and Find Device features.

Soundcore AeroFit Multipoint

For power, they pack a large 85mAh battery on each side with an additional 750mAh in the charging case. With this, Soundcore is confident that the AeroFit can last up to 11 hours independently. When considering the charging case, they can pump out nearly two days of continuous usage. In the meantime, the buds and the charging case take an hour and two to fully charge respectively. While that may sound like a lot, a quick 10-minute plugin can last four hours, which is more than enough for a commute to work or a gym session.

Soundcore AeroFit Specifications

  • Design: Open-fit with IPX7 rating, aerospace-grade titanium wire for earbuds’ structure
  • Sound Driver: 14 mm dynamic drivers with titanium-coated domes
  • Noise Cancellation: AI ENC with 4 mics during calls
  • Connectivity: Bluetooth v5.3
  • Codecs: SBC, AAC
  • Companion App: Soundcore (Android | iOS)
  • Battery: 85 mAh (Buds), 750 mAh (Case)
  • Playback (With Case): Up to 11 hours (Buds), up to 42 hours (Case)
  • Charging: Via USB Type-C, <1 hour (Buds), <2 hours (Case), 10 minutes charge = 4 hours usage
  • Features: Touch Controls, Multipoint connection, Cutsom EQ, Find Device, Auto Power Off
  • Colour Options: Midnight Black, Calm White, Soft Pink, Cozy Blue

UK based chip gaint ARM is reportedly working on a GPU for gaming

0

Arm is reportedly expanding into the dedicated GPU (dGPU) market. The company, known for its work in mobile processors, is now developing a new graphics processor unit (GPU) at its Ra’anana development center in Israel. This move puts Arm in direct competition with established players like Nvidia and Intel. In this article, we will discuss everything we know about the latest Arm dGPU in detail.

Arm dGPU Overview

Who’s in the team?

A team of about 100 engineers is leading this project. These experts are part of Arm’s global graphics processing group. Their efforts focus on creating a GPU for the video game market, though future applications in AI are possible.

Any different approach?

ARM processor

Arm’s approach differs from traditional chipmakers. Instead of manufacturing its own processors, Arm develops intellectual property and chip development software. Companies like Qualcomm, MediaTek, and Apple use this technology in their products. While Arm has provided technology for various markets, this new development marks its first significant step into high-performance GPUs.

Collaboration and Market Context

The new GPU aims to focus on gaming performance, a market where Arm’s technology is already present in mobile devices.. Arm’s Ra’anana office also works with local startups, including those in the AI sector which could help Arm expand its reach beyond gaming.

Are they going to succeed?

Entering the dGPU market obviously presents challenges for Arm. The company must balance power efficiency with the high performance required for gaming and AI tasks. As Arm continues to grow, it faces competition from both established companies and emerging open-source technologies like RISC-V. Stay tuned! We will bring more news and development of ARM dGPUs.
