The iPad (2025) features a modified version of the A16 chip, which has a 5-core CPU and a 4-core GPU. In comparison, the A16 Bionic chip in iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 15 models includes a 6-core CPU and a 5-core GPU. Additionally, the device does not support Apple Intelligence.

This is the first entry-level iPad to offer a 512GB storage variant. Base storage now starts at 128GB, replacing the 64GB option from the previous model. The new iPad also supports Bluetooth 5.3, an upgrade from Bluetooth 5.2, and exclusively relies on eSIM for cellular models worldwide, removing the physical SIM slot.

The iPad (2025) continues with a dual 12MP camera setup and now supports Smart HDR 4, an improvement over the previous model’s Smart HDR 3. Apple claims this enhances detail and color in photos.

As for the display, it is available in 11-inch size with Liquid Retina IPS LCD panel, similar to its predecessor. The iPad (2025) remains compatible with the first-generation Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard accessories.

2. Apple iPad mini 7th Gen (2024)

2024’s iPad mini brings a larger 8.3-inch Liquid Retina display with support for True Tone technology and a P3 color gamut. The display can get as bright as 500 nits. The biggest upgrade in this year’s iPad mini has been the processor. The new A17 Pro offers 30% and 25% improvements in CPU and GPU, respectively.

At the back, there is the same old 12MP camera capable of recording 4K/60 fps videos. There is another 12MP shooter at the front with the Center Stage feature.

3. Apple iPad Air 6th Gen (2024)

Apple 6th Gen iPad Air is the 2024 model of the iPad Air and comes in two screen sizes — 11″ and 13″. This thing is powered by an M2 chip and Apple has also been generous enough to bump the base storage from 64GB to 128GB. But what’s ironic is that although “iPad Air” is supposed to be Apple’s lightest lineup of iPads, it’s actually heavier than the new M4-powered iPad Pros.

Other than this, the 6th Gen iPad Air has a bunch of other smaller upgrades too. Its front-facing camera sits in landscape orientation and it supports the newer, faster WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3. And like its predecessor, the cellular variant of the M2 iPad Air is currently not available in Nepal.

5. Apple iPad Pro M4 (2024)

If you want the most powerful iPad Apple has to offer, then this is it. The 2024 model of the iPad Pro is powered by an M4 chip. XRING O1 is being developed by Xiaomi and will launch by the end of May 2025. This chipset is the company’s first in-house processor since 2017.

Architecture and Process

The chip uses a 1+3+4 core structure. It includes one prime core at 3.2 GHz, three performance cores at 2.5 GHz, and four efficiency cores at 2.0 GHz. The specific core types are not yet confirmed and may change in the final version. Additionally, XRING O1 is built on TSMC’s 4nm manufacturing process.
