With availability of various laptops in Nepal, the gaming laptop market has become segmented. You can choose from the budget, mid-range, or flagship categories. And here, we’ve compiled a list of the best midrange gaming laptops under NPR 150000 (1.5 lakhs) currently available in Nepal.

How to choose a gaming laptop under NPR 150000 in Nepal?

Let’s first start with the things that you should consider before buying a mid-range gaming laptop. At this price range, you should not settle for GTX graphics like the 1650. You can even get laptops with the latest RTX 40-series GPU with hardware-based Ray Tracing, DLSS AI super-sampling, and DLSS Frame Generation.

As for CPU, you can go with either Intel or AMD as long as you are getting the H-series processors (Intel 13th/14th Gen or Ryzen 7000/8000 series). Instead, pay more attention to RAM and storage. Most gaming laptops under Rs. 1.5 lakh in Nepal ship with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of SSD, which is not enough for gaming in the long run. So, upgrade to 1TB SSD whenever you can, even if it means going over the budget by a bit.

144Hz screens are common, but unless you are into competitive gaming, higher refresh rates should not bother you much. Most laptops in this price range come with panels with 250 nits of brightness and 45% of NTSC coverage. Things like portable form factor, metal body, and RGB backlighting are still somewhat rare.

6. Acer Nitro V 15 (2023)

The Nitro V (2023) is the latest addition to the popular Nitro series. You can get a number of CPU / GPU configurations in this series. For this price point, your cheapest option would be to go for an i7 + RTX 4050. But, we recommend a more balanced option i7 + RTX 4060 model for not a whole lot extra. On the other hand, you can also opt for an i9-13900H CPU with a weaker RTX 4050 card as well. Moreover, all cards support DLSS Frame Generation, which can do wonders in many games that support it. But you aren’t getting the full performance because of its 75W TGP which is something to keep in mind.

Opening the lid gets you to the 15.6-inch IPS panel with a 165Hz refresh rate and FHD resolution. Unfortunately, the display might not be up to the mark for creative folks as it can only display 45% of the NTSC colors. Fueling this 2.6kg laptop is a 57Wh 4-cell Li-ion battery with 135W charging.

5. Acer Nitro V 16 (2024)

It is hard to curate a list of the best budget gaming laptops without mentioning the Nitro series from Acer. For this list, we have chosen the new Nitro V 16 (2024) with a Ryzen 8845HS processor and RTX 4050/ RTX 4060 graphics with 6GB  and 8GB of GDDR6 VRAM respectively. Moreover, you get 16GB of DDR5 RAM and 512GB of SSD by default. Moving on, the laptop has a 16-inch display with a 165Hz refresh rate and accurate colors (100% sRGB). This gaming machine gets its juice is a 57Wh battery with 170W AC adapter charging.

3. Dell G15 5535 (2023)

In the third spot is the G15 5535 gaming laptop from Dell with a powerful hardware combo. It is powered by a Zen 4-based Ryzen 7840HS processor with 8 cores, 16 threads, and a boost clock speed of 5.1 GHz. On the GPU side, we have the RTX 4060 card from NVIDIA but the company doesn’t disclose its TGP on the product page. Doing some snooping around, it seems like the card is running at the full 140W power so you aren’t leaving any performance on the table.

It has a unique arcade aesthetic to it with its colored shell portion and is built well. The display is an FHD IPS with support for up to 165Hz refresh rate. Colors are also pretty decent at 100% sRGB. Although the MSRP of the G15 is high, it is currently available for just around NPR 150,000 through the Hukut store.

If you’re willing to shell some extra dough, you can also get the Intel variant which ships with a faster Core i7 CPU. But we are cutting some points off and not ranking it as high here because of its scarce availability right now.

2. Acer Predator Helios Neo 16 (2023)

For the second-best gaming laptop around that 1.5 lakh mark, we have Acer’s Predator Helios Neo 16 with a powerful Core i5 HX CPU and the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 graphics running at up to 110W.

It ships with 16GB of fast DDR5 memory with either 512GB or 1TB of NVME Gen 4 SSD by default. Of course, there are extra slots for both the RAM and SSD here for upgradability down the road. The display is a taller 16″ FHD+ panel running at 165Hz with 100% sRGB colors and over 400 nits of brightness that’s perfect for not only gaming but also for color-sensitive work and media consumption.

Moreover, there’s a large 90Wh battery, plenty of connectivity options, and a 4-zone RGB keyboard which are just the cherries on top.

Currently one of the best bang for your buck machines around the 1.5 lakh rupee range is the Nitro 16 (2024) from Acer with a Ryzen 7 8845HS CPU alongside an RTX 4060 GPU.

It ticks all the boxes you’d want in a performance-centric laptop from a high refresh rate screen (165Hz) to powerful processors and speedy memory. The Ryzen chip inside is based on AMD’s Zen 4 architecture which brings both performance and efficiency gains over the Zen 3 processors.
