Redmi Note 12S is a familiar device with a new design

Looks like, Xiaomi is into refreshing old smartphones. The brand recently rebranded the Note 10 Pro Max as the Note 12 Pro 4G with a few changes. And now, the Redmi Note 12S also joins the race with specs borrowed from the Note 11S. In this article, we’ll walk through the specs, features, and expected price of the Redmi Note 12S in Nepal.

Design and Display

Except for the camera module, the Note 12S boasts a similar design to its predecessor, the Note 11S. You get the same flat frames and a similar form factor with an IP53 rating here. Besides that, the button placements are identical along with the speaker grill on the device’s top frame.

On the front side, the phone features the same 6.43-inch AMOLED hole punch display with FHD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. Redmi has also retained an IR blaster. And the device is available in Onyx Black, Ice Blue, and Pearl Green color options.

Performance

Not a surprise! Redmi Note 12S uses the same MediaTek Helio G96 processor. For reference, Helio G96 (12nm) has an octa-core CPU with two Cortex-A76 (@2.05 GHz) and six Cortex-A55 cores (@2.0 GHz). Whereas on the graphics side of things, it brings Mali-G57 MC2 GPU.

And the chip is coupled with up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Users can also virtually expand the RAM to up to 13GB while the storage expansion is up to 1TB via a microSD card. On the software side, the Redmi Note 12S boots on MIUI 14 built on top of Android 13.

Camera

Coming to the optics, the Note 12S sports a triple camera setup, unlike the quad one of its predecessor. Nevertheless, the main camera is the same 108MP shooter, followed by an 8MP ultrawide and a 2MP macro sensor. Upfront, you get a 16MP selfie snapper.
