Xiaomi working on Mi Kids Smartwatch 7C and it will have an eSIM?

While Xiaomi is churning its gears for the 15 Pro, which is apparently due in October. A recent report from Gizmochina suggests that the company is working on another product as well. And it’s a smartwatch… for kids! Well, let’s take a look at this Xiaomi Mi Kids Smartwatch 7C and all that we know of it in this article.

The aforementioned source spotted the kid’s smartwatch in their IMEI database which carries the model number “MTSB28XUN”. Other than that, the finding reveals that the watch will have the market name “Mi Kids Smartwatch 7C”.

In the same listing, we can see “mitu” as well, which could also be (a part of) the official naming.

It’s not the first

As the watch’s name would have you guess, it is not the first kids’ smartwatch from Xiaomi. It will likely be the successor to the Mitu Children’s Phone Watch 6C which you can find on AliExpress for about USD 155.

In the meantime, Xiaomi’s global website also lists a kids’ watch on it but does not have any indication of the generation of the product.

What to expect?

The core design of the smartwatch will likely remain unchanged. We can expect Xiaomi to toss around with the colours. The camera, microphone, speakers, GPS, NFC, and teaching apps all are essential to the Xiaomi Mi Kids Smartwatch 7C, so we can expect it to retain them.

On the other hand, the bezels on this thing will hopefully go thinner with a bump in screen quality. Likewise, the storage and battery will likely see an upgrade from the 4GB and 950mAh on the previous iteration. The smartwatch has had cellular connectivity but it has always been through a physical SIM slot. Maybe this time around Xiaomi will decide to throw in an eSIM instead, which will help add to the ingress and water resistance of the watch too.

The watch was only recently discovered in the IMEI database, which is barely an indicator of its release. Sometimes a product launches in mere weeks after it has been spotted. At other times, it might take many months for the product to finally hit the market.

All in all, all we can say is Xiaomi Mi Kids Smartwatch 7C is in the works and will be available for purchase hopefully within the course of the next few months.
