Tecno just showed off something pretty spectacular at MWC 2025 – the Spark Slim concept phone, which measures just 5.75mm thick. While this is still a concept, Tecno says they’re keen on bringing its charm to market in a different form this year. This article will discuss everything about the Tecno Spark Slim concept, including rumored specifications and expected pricing.

Tecno Spark Slim Overview

The whole Android maker world has gone into this frenzy mode lately, all trying to out-thin each other ahead of Apple’s rumored iPhone 17 Air launch. Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge is expected to be 5.84mm thick, but Tecno beat them to it. Although, the question is whether people actually want phones this thin, but that’s beside the point right now.

Design

Tecno spark slim thickness

The Spark Slim comes in two variants – a 4G version and the Pova Slim 5G. Both phones are ridiculously thin at 5.93mm and 5.95mm respectively, weighing around 156 grams. Tecno had to completely rework their internal components to achieve this – the USB Type-C connector alone is just 0.45mm thick, and the vapor chamber inside is a mere 0.3mm. What’s really impressive is that they didn’t sacrifice the battery to get this thin. The 5,160mAh battery pack is somehow just 4.04mm thick.

Display and Build Quality

You’re getting a 6.78-inch curved AMOLED display with 144Hz refresh rate and 4,500 nits peak brightness.  The back comes in either stainless steel or ceramic finish. According to GSMArena, who got hands-on time with the concept, “The stainless steel has a mirror-like surface, which looks premium for all of two seconds, before becoming a smudge-fest. The ceramic version, on the other hand, doesn’t show as many fingerprints and looks amazing at all times.” They also noted that Tecno actually added artificial weight to the phone because it would’ve felt like a toy otherwise.

They’ve gone with rounded edges everywhere. The aerospace-grade fiberglass back cover is just 0.36mm thick, and they’re using something called Honeycomb Space Stacking Technology to maximize internal space, although it is not disclosed what that actually means in practice.

Performance and Software

The 4G Spark Slim runs on a Helio G200 chipset,. It with 8GB RAM and storage options ranging from 128GB to 256GB. The phone runs Android 15 with Tecno’s HiOS 15 interface on top. Then again, with a phone this thin, heat dissipation during heavy gaming would probably be a nightmare anyway.

Camera and Battery

The Spark Slim pack a dual 50MP camera setup on the back. It gets something unique – a Mood Light LED bar between the cameras that can show different lighting effects and animations for notifications. The 5,160mAh battery supports 45W fast charging. As I mentioned earlier, heat dissipation during charging must’ve been a nightmare to solve. They’ve also included 10W reverse wired charging, so you can use your phone as a power bank.

But the thing about ultra-thin phones is that finding a case for a 5.75mm phone is going to be tough. And while Tecno used premium materials, there’s always the worry about bending with such a thin profile. Remember the iPhone 6 Plus bendgate? This is even thinner.
