The new Corning Gorilla Glass 7i can survive drops on the surface replicating asphalt from a height of up to one meter. This feat was achieved during the lab tests. To compare, an aluminosilicate glass can crack at a much lower height of 0.5 meters or less. Not just drop, but this new glass has also improved scratch resistance. Corning claims its strength to be two times that of lithium aluminosilicate cover glasses.
Will replace Gorilla Glass 3
If you are not aware already, most of the budget midrange phones have Gorilla Glass 3. And it was introduced way back in 2016. So, finally, we’ll get to see a new Corning Gorilla Glass in the market with improved strength and resistance.
