Microsoft Surface Pro 8 goes official with a 120Hz screen and Intel's 11th gen CPU

Alongside the new Surface Duo 2, Go 3, Microsoft also launched the new Surface Pro 8 and Pro X 2-in-1 PCs at the September launch event. In this article, we will get through the specs, features, expected price, and availability of Microsoft Surface Pro 8 and Pro X in Nepal.

Microsoft Surface Pro 8, Pro X Overview:

Design and Display

To begin with, both the Pro X and Pro 8 boast a 13” PixelSense display with 2880 x 1920 pixels resolution (267 PPI). However, the latter has support for a 120Hz refresh rate and Dolby Vision. Though the screen runs at 60Hz, it can dynamically jump to 120Hz during touch and stylus input. That being said, both Surface Pro 8 and Pro X are compatible with Surface Slim Pen 2 and Surface Pro Signature Keyboard.

Performance

Powering the Pro 8 is either the Intel Core i5-1135G7 or Core i7-1185G7 CPU. It can be configured with up to 32GB of LDDR4X RAM and up to 1TB of SSD storage. The graphics, on the other hand, are handled by integrated Intel Iris Xe GPU. With this configuration, Microsoft is citing it as the “most powerful Pro”. Likewise, the Pro X is also available in two chip configurations—Microsoft SQ1 and SQ2. The former comes with Adreno 685 GPU, while the latter has Adreno 690 graphics. It is paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 512GB of SSD. Moving on, both come pre-installed with Windows 11 out-of-the-box. But interestingly enough, the LTE variant of the Pro X still runs Windows 10 Home and will be upgraded to the new OS when available.

Camera and Audio

In terms of the camera, either of the devices carries a 5MP lens on the front and a 10MP sensor on the back. The latter can record up to 4K video. Plus, they support Windows Hello face authentication as well. Now, like the Surface Go 3, the Surface Pro 8, and Pro X have 2W stereo speakers with Dolby Audio.

Furthermore, the I/O options include two USB-C, a Surface Connect, and a Surface Keyboard port in the Pro X. Similarly, the Pro 8 has two USB-C with USB 4.0/Thunderbolt 4, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a Surface Connect and a Surface Type Cover port.

Microsoft Surface Pro 8 is available at a starting price of USD 1,099.99 for the 8/128GB, Core i5 variant, going up to USD 2,599.99 for the Core i7 model with 32GB RAM and 1TB storage. We expect the price of the Microsoft Surface Pro 8 in Nepal to start at NPR 150,000 if and when it launches here.

Microsoft Surface Pro X Price in Nepal and Availability

The base model (SQ1, 8/128GB, Wi-Fi) of the Surface Pro X starts at USD 899.99. We expect the price of the Microsoft Surface Pro X in Nepal to start at NPR 125,000, if and when it launches here (but like the Pro 8, they're unlikely to arrive in Nepal officially).
