Samsung relaunches the Galaxy Tab A9+ — for kids this time

Samsung launched the Tab A9 series near the end of last year and shortly made their way to Nepal too. Now the South Korean tech giant has launched the Tab A9+, but this time it’s targeted at kids. In this article, we will be looking at the Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+ Kids Edition in further detail including its price in Nepal.

What’s new?

The Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+ Kids Edition is mostly the same old goodie. However, you do get some things extra. Starting with the thick puffed cover with a built-in kickstand. This case is similar to the ones you get with other kids’ tablets and is available in multiple colours including Blue, Red, and Yellow.

Additionally, Samsung is offering three crayon-like styluses and two interchangeable lanyards to hold the pen. The Crayo-pens come in the same colours as the case i.e. Blue, Red, and Yellow. Other than that, the Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+ Kids Edition comes preloaded with the Samsung Kids app. With this, parents can create separate profiles, set screen and app restrictions, and monitor children’s online presence.

Design and Display

Underneath the thick case, the Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+ Kids Edition looks and is the same as its regular counterpart. It comes in the Graphite colour option on the back and pretty thick bezels on the front. Moreover, the tablet weighs nearly half a kilo by itself and has a clean design over its back.

Over on the front, it has an 11-inch display with a TFT LCD panel. It stretches WUXGA in resolution and offers a colour depth of 16 million. Likewise, the screen is capable of a 90Hz refresh rate as well.

Performance and the rest

The performance on this thing is delivered by the Snapdragon 695 chipset from Qualcomm. This processor is capable enough to easily handle whatever children’s needs from the tablet might be. Though the chip supports a 5G network, the Samsung Galaxy A9+ Kids Edition is available in a WiFi-only variant for now. However, the company apparently plans to launch one with cellular support later on.

Besides that, the tablet can be found in two configurations — 4GB + 64GB and 8GB + 128GB. The storage can be further expanded with a MicroSD card by up to 1TB. Furthermore, the Samsung Galaxy A9+ Kids Edition has an 8MP camera on the back and a 5MP one on the front. For power, it has a 7,040 mAh battery that supports charging speeds of up to 15W.

We are all familiar with the American smartphone manufacturer Motorola, and most might also remember the ups and downs it has faced in the Nepalese market. Well, the brand is charging right in again, with Chaudhary Group (CG) at the helm. In this short article, let’s quickly take a peek at what you can expect with Motorola’s re-entry into Nepal.

Motorola in Nepal: A quick history lesson

The brand entered Nepal back in 2017 with budget phones from its C and E series but ultimately lost the battle of value against Chinese competitors like Xiaomi, Vivo, and Oppo.

In terms of design, the Zeblaze Ares 3 Plus is a rugged smartwatch that is quite reminiscent of some G-Shock watches. Apple is all set to shake things up with the 17th version of its device. From the rumors, it seems like the company plans to retire the Plus model in favour of an all-new “Slim” iPhone. Let’s dive into all the buzz surrounding the iPhone 17 Slim (or Air) and the things it might soon unveil.

Instead of being the ‘iPhone 17 Slim’, there’s a good chance that the upcoming phone might be launched with the “Air” moniker.

Mirroring the design philosophy of the MacBook Air and iPad Air, this new model emphasizes a lightweight and ultra-thin form factor, targeting casual consumers who prioritize portability and sleek design. Not only that, with a single rear camera, a titanium-aluminium alloy frame, and a focus on design over high-end features, the iPhone 17 Air aligns perfectly with the concept of a smooth, mid-range device. Although Apple has yet to make any official announcements, the “Air” designation seems to capture the essence of this new iPhone, suggesting a fresh approach to combining style and functionality in their product lineup.

However, most rumors point at it being called the iPhone 17 Slim so that’s what we are going with.

A new iPhone form factor

Even before the iPhone 16 hits the shelves, rumours about the iPhone 17 are already making waves in the tech world. A brand-new form factor for an iPhone is on its way.

Reports suggest that Apple is focusing more on aesthetics this time. As the name implies, the new model’s main attraction will be its thinness, unlike the Pro models, which emphasize camera quality and processing power to stand out from Apple’s standard iPhones.

Why the Slim?

According to a report by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the Plus model makes up only a small percentage of (5-10%) of all new iPhones sold. This suggests that the other three models (Standard, Pro, and Pro Max) are already meeting the needs of customers looking for high-end iPhones, and the Plus model doesn’t add much value and is considered “redundant”.

So, Apple may phase out the iPhone Plus, a larger-sized base model, in favour of the new iPhone 17 Slim in 2025. That being said, there is conflicting information regarding this where some reporters suggest that this upcoming model is not meant to replace existing models; while others claim that it will replace the “Plus” in the lineup.

The iPhone 17’s design features a sleek, ultra-thin profile with a titanium-aluminium alloy metal frame, emphasizing form-factor above everything. Well, this could be a clever idea for Apple to get customers excited about the iPhone’s design again. Motorola adds an object tracker — “Moto Tag” to its catalogue

We all remember AirTag and all the commotion it created. Now, Motorola too is offering a similar product to its customers. In this article, we will look into the Moto Tag in further detail and also discuss the chances of its availability and potential price in Nepal.

Moto Tag Overview

Design

The Moto Tag is quite similar to the AirTag as it is a circular disc. The dimensions of the two are nearly identical too with the former measuring 31.90 mm x 8.00 mm and the latter coming in at 32.00 mm x 7.90 mm. Given the design similarity, the Moto Tag goes well with various AirTag accessories. You get IP67 dust and water resistance on both the trackers too.

The two may be alike, but there are certain differentiating characteristics between them. Firstly, the Motorola offering has a protrusion on both sides while the AirTag has a smooth unibody. Likewise, the AirTag has a stainless steel build but the Moto Tag opts for plastic instead. The material choice cuts its weight down to only 7.5 grams, making it 3.5 grams lighter in comparison. Lastly, the Motorola tracker is available in more colour options, namely Starlight Blue and Jade Green.

Features

The Moto Tag is equipped with Bluetooth v5.4 as well as Ultra-wideband for tracking and connectivity. The Bluetooth is obviously a low-energy one to maximise the device’s battery life. This tracker works with devices running on Android 9.0 and up, where it can be seamlessly paired through Google Fast Pair.

It taps into Google’s Find My Device network to do the tracking. You can then locate your belongings with Precision Finding. If you still cannot find the tagged belonging, then you can even beep the Moto Tag and it produces a sound of up to 75dB. Not only does it help locate whatever you tagged, it works the other way around and helps you find your misplaced phone. Other than that, it works as a remote for your smartphone camera as well, allowing you to take hands-free photos without setting a timer.

Talking of the battery, it goes with a CR2032 cell which can last a year with the Moto Tag. The battery is a coin-like unit that goes in other appliances like watches, calculators, and even toys.

Privacy is a concern when dealing with devices like these as it can facilitate stalking. To counter this, the Moto Tag notifies all the Android in the vicinity of 100 metres about its presence. However, only the owner of the tag can exactly pinpoint the location of their tag on Google Maps. Additionally, the whole notifying process is anonymous and end-to-end encrypted.
