With cut-throat competition in the mid-range segment, no one will blame you if you have to think more than twice about all the available options. So, if you’re looking for the best phones under NPR 40000 in Nepal, you are in luck. This list is actually almost identical to our recently updated list of best midrange phones in Nepal (30K-45K). Therefore, I’ll be keeping things super simple here. Let’s begin.

Best mobile phones under NPR 40000 in Nepal:

6. Samsung Galaxy M33 5G

Kicking off our list of best phones under NPR 40000 in Nepal is the Samsung Galaxy M33 5G. This smartphone brings a capable Exynos 1280 under the hood that can do your everyday chores with ease. In terms of memory, it is available with either 6GB or 8GB of RAM paired with a sole 128GB of internal storage.

Similarly, the phone is fitted with a big 6000mAh battery that delivers an excellent screen on time. However, this time around, the company does not provide a compatible charger inside the box.

And, courtesy of the beefier battery, the device measures 9.4mm and weighs 215 grams. Yet, Samsung has done a good job in terms of weight distribution, so the phone doesn’t feel uncomfortably heavy in the hands.

How’s the display?

While everything appears to be going well thus far, the M33 falls short on the display front, with a 6.6-inch TFT screen. However, because it has a 120Hz screen, UI navigation feels smooth and responsive.

Moreover, the M33 has a good set of cameras capable of capturing photos with nice colors. The primary sensor here is a 50MP which is accompanied by a 5MP ultrawide and a couple of 2MP depth and macro sensors. For selfies, it has an 8MP lens on the front.

Samsung Galaxy M33 5G Specifications:

  • Dimensions: 165.4 x 76.9 x 8.4mm, 198g
  • Display: 6.6-inch TFT, FHD+ resolution, 120Hz

5. Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite

Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 4G - Peach Pink

Xiaomi is mostly known for its value-for-money smartphones. But that doesn’t mean the company hasn’t experimented with other market strategies. The Mi 11 Lite is an unconventional phone from Xiaomi in the sense that this is a lifestyle phone—rather than a pure bang for your buck.

For the most part, it shares a lot of similarities with the Indian variant of the Redmi Note 10 Pro. Yet, there are a couple of factors that the company has implemented differently here which makes for a pretty appealing smartphone to many.

Starting things off is the glossy finish at the back. Protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 5, Mi 11 Lite tries to deliver something entirely different than what Redmi-branded phones in this price range offer.

Reflective back

We understand that this “smudge magnet” design isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but then again, Mi 11 Lite is an unorthodox phone. It is IP53 dust-and-splash resistant as well. Upfront, it brings a 6.55″ AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate. Xiaomi says this is HDR10 certified and can reproduce over 1 billion colors.

Still, we found this screen to be inferior compared to the one on Redmi Note 10 Pro Max. Powered by Snapdragon 732G, regular performance is no trouble for this lightweight machine although the phone heats up by quite a lot under load. Its cameras are just about average as well—especially when it comes to low-light images. Mi 11 Lite is fueled by a moderate 4250mAh battery that will last you through the day pretty easily.

Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite Specifications:

  • Display: 6.55-inches 90Hz FHD+ AMOLED, 402 PPI, Gorilla Glass 5
  • Chipset: Qualcomm Snapdragon 732G (8nm Mobile Platform)
  • Memory: 6/8GB RAM, 128/256GB (expandable)
  • Software & UI: Android 11 with MIUI 12 on top
  • Rear Camera: Triple (64MP main, 8MP ultrawide, 5MP telemacro)
  • Front Camera: 16MP sensor (punch-hole)
  • Fingerprint sensor: Physical (side-mounted)
  • Connectivity: Hybrid Dual-SIM (Nano), WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS / A-GPS / Glonass / Galileo, USB-C, NFC
  • Sensors: Accelerometer, Electronic Compass, Gyroscope, Ambient Light, Proximity, Linear Motor, IR Blaster
  • Battery: 4250mAh battery with 33W Charging
  • Price in Nepal: Rs. 34,999 (6/128GB)

4. POCO X3 Pro

POCO X3 Pro - Phantom Black best phones under 40000 in nepal

While phones under the 40K price bracket in Nepal have never really been a winner in the performance front, POCO has gloriously changed the game. Powered by the Snapdragon 860 chipset, the new POCO X3 Pro is easily the best performing phone in its class.

Therefore, if gaming is your top priority when choosing among the best phones under NPR 40000 in Nepal, we can’t recommend the X3 Pro enough. The phone can push even the most graphics-intensive games like Genshin Impact and PUBG Mobile to their highest settings.

Unrivaled gaming

Even so, we wouldn’t exactly recommend you do so because POCO X3 Pro will eventually struggle with keeping things cool under such settings. Having said that, with a slight tweak in settings, you’ll easily be able to play such games at a smooth 60 fps. Now, as you could tell, everyday usage is no issue for this beast either.

POCO X3 Pro also features a 120Hz refresh rate screen but unfortunately, it is prone to stutters every now and then. This was a problem on its predecessor too so we’re not sure how to feel about POCO’s indifference to the issue.

Moving on, even though the 48MP quad-camera system shoots decent photos, it lags behind the likes of the Redmi Note 10 Pro which has a 108MP primary camera. Plus, X3 Pro’s relatively bulky might be a turn-off to many too.

POCO X3 Pro Specifications:

  • Display: 6.67-inches 120Hz FHD+ IPS LCD, 396 PPI, Gorilla Glass 6
  • Chipset: Qualcomm Snapdragon 860 (7nm Mobile Platform)
  • Memory: 6/8GB RAM, 128/256GB (expandable)
  • Software & UI: Android 11 with MIUI 12 for POCO
  • Rear Camera: Quad (48MP main, 8MP ultrawide, 2MP depth, 2MP macro)
  • Front Camera: 20MP sensor (punch-hole)
  • Fingerprint sensor: Physical (side-mounted)
  • Connectivity: Hybrid Dual-SIM (Nano), WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS / A-GPS / Glonass / Galileo / BDS, USB-C
  • Sensors: Accelerometer, Proximity, Gyro, Compass
  • Battery: 5160mAh battery with 33W Charging
  • Price in Nepal: Rs. 31,999 (6/128GB) | Rs. 36,999 (8/256GB)

3. Samsung Galaxy M62

Samsung Galaxy M62 - Laser Blue best phones under 40000 in nepal

Taking the silver medal in our list of best phones under NPR 40000 in Nepal is the Samsung Galaxy M62. Compared to the M51 above, the company has brought a big upgrade in the performance department. Here, Galaxy M62 is powered by Samsung’s the-then flagship chipset of 2019: Exynos 9825.

Based on an energy-efficient 7nm process, it delivers excellent performance (while still falling behind the Snapdragon 860 in POCO X3 Pro).

Here, games like PUBG Mobile are smoothly playable at 60fps at the highest graphics settings. So, this phone brings a healthy combo of great gaming performance on top of handling everyday usage like a champ.

Still, we’re a little hesitant on recommending this phone to gamers seeing how it lacks a high refresh rate screen. While the big 6.7″ Super AMOLED Plus screen is color-rich, a higher refresh rate would’ve made so much more difference. And like the POCO X3 Pro, its plastic body is quite bulky too.

Great cameras

Moving on, M62 is also one of the best phones in terms of camera and software support in this list. Its 64MP-led quad-camera array shoots better photos, videos than the Redmi Note 10 Pro. For a reliable smartphone experience in the long run, Samsung has also promised 4 years of security updates on this phone. Another highlight of Galaxy M62 is the colossal 7000mAh battery that will easily last you a couple of days, maybe even more.

Samsung Galaxy M62 Specifications:

  • Display: 6.7-inches 60Hz FHD+ Super AMOLED Plus, 393 PPI
  • Chipset: Exynos 9825 (7nm Mobile Platform)
  • Memory: 6/8GB RAM, 128GB (expandable)
  • Software & UI: Android 11 with One UI 3.1
  • Rear Camera: Quad (64MP main, 12MP ultrawide, 5MP depth, 5MP macro)
  • Front Camera: 32MP sensor (punch-hole)
  • Fingerprint sensor: Physical (side-mounted)
  • Connectivity: Dual-SIM (Nano), WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS / A-GPS / Glonass / Galileo / Beidou, USB-C
  • Sensors: Accelerometer, Proximity, Gyro, Ambient Light, Geomagnetic
  • Battery: 7000mAh battery with 25W Charging
  • Price in Nepal: Rs. 39,999 (6/128GB) | Rs. 42,999 (8/128GB)

2. Redmi Note 11 Pro

Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G Atlantic Blue

Next on the list is the Redmi Note 11 Pro which is a well-balanced phone for the price. The smartphone features a 6.67-inch AMOLED panel that delivers excellent colors and contrast. This is complemented by a good set of stereo speakers, so the Redmi Note 11 Pro is a capable multimedia consumption device.

By the way, the screen here has a 120Hz refresh and 360Hz touch sampling rate panel, so you get a smooth navigation experience across the UI.

Premium build

Moreover, the handset sports a premium glass-sandwich build. You also get an IP53 rating for dust and water resistance. At the back, there’s a triple camera setup led by a 108MP primary sensor. Accompanying this is an 8MP ultrawide and 2MP macro lens. Inside, Xiaomi has packed MediaTek’s Helio G96 chip which delivers reliable day-to-day performance.

There’s also a 5G variant of the Note 11 Pro powered by the Snapdragon chip. Apart from the processor, these two phones are one and the same in every other department. It is available with up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Fueling the smartphone is a 5000mAh battery that supports a whopping 67W fast charging. On our tests, we were able to charge the device from 0 to 100% in just 50 minutes.

Redmi Note 11 Pro Specifications:

  • Body: 164.19 x 76.1 x 8.12mm; 202 grams
  • Display: 6.67” FHD+ AMOLED DotDisplay, 120Hz refresh rate, 360Hz touch sampling rate
  • Chipset: MediaTek Helio G96 (12nm) / Snapdragon 695 5G (6nm)
  • CPU: Octa-core (2×2.2 GHz Cortex-A78 & 6×1.7 GHz Cortex-A55)
  • GPU: Adreno 619
  • Memory: 6/8GB LPDDR4X RAM, 64GB/128GB UFS 2.2 storage

1. Samsung Galaxy A52

Samsung Galaxy A52 - Awesome Blue

Finally, sitting atop our list of best phones under NPR 40000 in Nepal is the Samsung Galaxy A52. And, there’s a lot to love about this device. From its stellar design to top-notch cameras, the A52 is still the best phone in this price bracket. Contrary to other Samsung entries in this list so far, it brings quite a refreshing look.

No, the A52 doesn’t have a glass back like the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G or the Mi 11 Lite above—but this pastel finish is quite something. More importantly, the A52 is the phone on this list to boast IP67 dust/water resistance. So if you’re one of those who are always anxious about dust or water damage to their phone, the Galaxy A52 will give you peace of mind.

Upfront, it has a 6.5″ Super AMOLED display protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 5. While the M62 didn’t host a high refresh rate support, this one does—albeit at only 90Hz. It’s still an upgrade over 60Hz screens but Samsung could’ve had a bigger advantage with a 120Hz refresh rate. Still and all, A52’s display has excellent colors, contrast, and can stay visible even under bright outdoor situations.

Top-notch cameras

But it’s the cameras where this phone shines the best. You’re getting a quad-camera setup led by a 64MP primary sensor. Compared to the Galaxy M62 and Redmi Note 10 Pro, we found that the A52 comes off victorious in practically every aspect when it comes to photos. The 64MP sensor is also complemented by OIS for sharper low-light images but we liked the photos from Note 10 Pro’s 108MP camera more.

Powering the phone is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 720G which is perfectly capable of handling lightweight to medium usage. However, it’s not as powerful as the Snapdragon 860 or Exynos 9825. Then again, if you have software support more, Samsung has promised 3 years of platform and 4 years of security updates for the Galaxy A52. In terms of battery, it has a 4500mAh cell that supports 25W fast charging.

Samsung Galaxy A52 Specifications:

  • Display: 6.5-inches 90Hz FHD+ Super AMOLED, 407 PPI
  • Chipset: Snapdragon 720G (8nm Mobile Platform)
  • Memory: 6/8GB RAM, 128/256GB (expandable)
  • Software & UI: Android 11 with One UI 3.1
  • Rear Camera: Quad (64MP main, 12MP ultrawide, 5MP depth, 5MP macro)
  • Front Camera: 32MP sensor (punch-hole)
  • Fingerprint sensor: Optical (in-display)
  • Connectivity: Dual-SIM (Nano), WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (Dual-band), Bluetooth 5.0, GPS / AGPS / Glonass / Galileo / Beidou, NFC, USB Type-C
  • Sensors: Accelerometer, Gyro, Geomagnetic, Hall, Light, Virtual Proximity
  • Battery: 5000mAh battery with 25W Charging
  • Price in Nepal: Rs. 40,999* (8/128GB)
