Best mobile phones under 50,000 in Nepal [Updated: June 2020]

best phones under 50000 nepal

Inside this vast sea of phones in the market, it’s only natural to find an overwhelming number of choices! And those choices are made trickier by the price ranges available in the market. This is a list of one of trickiest price segments there is – under Rs. 50,000. Because, well, this is a category that’s more than mid-range yet less than the premium mid-rangers. But even so, there are some phones in this price range, too. So, here are the best smartphones under Rs. 50000 in Nepal.

1. Redmi K20 Pro

Inheriting the legacy of the Pocophone F1, Redmi K20 Pro brings flagship-grade features at a mid-range price. Like, all the flagship phones of 2019, the Redmi K20 Pro packs the flagship-grade Snapdragon 855. And with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, the performance here is absolutely fluid. Because of this, the K20 Pro has taken the number one spot in our list of top smartphones under 50000 available in Nepal.

xiaomi redmi k20 pro design best phone under 50000 nepal

2018’s Pocophone had a fair bit of downsides as well and one of them was the display. Purging the downside, the K20 Pro comes with a sharp and vivid 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display. The notch, which was then considered ugly has also been eliminated completely on the K20 Pro. Bezels are also kept at a minimum. And to achieve that, Xiaomi has included a pop-up style selfie camera, which captures images at 20MP.

And talking about the cameras, there is a triple camera setup on the rear panel. It means that the K20 Pro is even more versatile than the OnePlus 7, which is often hailed as the flagship killer. Similarly, you get a massive 4,000 mAh battery on the battery, which promises an enduring battery life.

Redmi K20 Pro Specifications:

  • Display: 6.39-inch Super AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection
  • Resolution: Full-HD+ (2340×1080 pixels), 19.5:9 aspect ratio

2. Samsung Galaxy A71

Belonging to Samsung’s new #AWESOME generation of smartphones, the Galaxy A71 brings the “best” of the company. By best, I mean the similar design choices that we’ve seen in the latest S20 series. As usual, Samsung’s chipset selection isn’t the most modern and most justifying to the price. Still, the A71 does have a great overall build.

Samsung Galaxy A71 Display

Starting with the display, you get a tall 6.7-inches AMOLED panel with a tiny punch-hole cutout for the 32MP selfie camera. No, it’s not notch-less like in the Redmi K20 Pro, but let me tell ya, it’s the next best thing. Talking about cameras, Samsung has deployed a quad-camera setup at the back, with a 64MP main shooter, a 12MP super wide-angle lens, a 5MP macro lens, and a 5MP depth sensor.

And like how we’ve consistently been impressed with cameras on Samsung’s mid-range smartphones, this one doesn’t disappoint either. The Galaxy A71 is powered by the Snapdragon 730, which is a decent mid-range SoC. And that is coupled with either 6/8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.

Samsung Galaxy A71 Specifications:

  • Display: 6.7-inches “Infinity-O” Super AMOLED panel with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection
  • Resolution: Full-HD+ (2400 x 1080 pixels); 20:9 aspect ratio

  • Price: Rs. 49,999 (8/128GB)

3. Mi Note 10 Lite

Xiaomi Nepal is mostly known for its excellent budget and mid-range smartphones. However, breaking that tradition, the company recently launched its flagship Mi 10 and the new Mi Note 10 Lite in Nepal. It features quite a unique design choice for a mid-range device; with its slightly curved display and back panel. Besides giving a more premium look, it also makes for a better grip. The front-camera sits inside a tiny waterdrop notch, though we would’ve liked a punch-hole implementation instead.

Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Lite

First thing, the phone has a manageable appropriate 6.47-inches AMOLED panel with HDR10 support and 430 nits of typical brightness. Therefore, content consumption on the Mi Note 10 Lite will be a great experience. In terms of performance, the phone is powered by the Snapdragon 730G chipset, which is a gaming-centric SoC. That has been coupled with either 6/8 of RAM with up to 128GB of non-expandable storage. And the only variant available in Nepal has a 6/128GB memory configuration.

Another highlight of the phone is its quad-camera setup. It has the flagship 64MP Sony IMX686 sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, a 5MP depth sensor, and a 2MP macro lens. And there are also a ton of camera features like a dedicated “Vlog Mode” to make use of the camera sensors. Similarly, the phone’s 16MP selfie-shooter has been placed inside the teardrop notch. Furthermore, Mi Note 10 Lite has a pretty big 5260mAh battery which supports 30W fast charging.

Mi Note 10 Lite Specifications:

  • Display: 6.47-inches AMOLED panel with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection; 91.4% screen-to-body ratio; 398PPI
  • Resolution: Full-HD+ (2340 x 1080 pixels); 19.5:9 aspect ratio
  • Chipset: Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G; 8nm Mobile Platform
  • CPU: Octa-core (2×2.2 GHz Kryo 470 Gold & 6×1.8 GHz Kryo 470 Silver)

    – Quad-LED flash
  • Front Camera: 16MP, f/2.5 aperture
  • Battery: 5,260 mAh with 30W Quick Charge
  • Connectivity: Dual-SIM (Nano-SIM, dual stand-by), WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS/AGPS/GLONASS/Galileo/BDS, USB Type-C
  • Sensors: Fingerprint (Under-display), Accelerometer, Gyro, Compass
  • Price: Rs. 44,999 (6/128GB)

4. Samsung Galaxy A80

Remember that crazy Samsung phone with flipping cameras? Yeah, that’s the Galaxy A80. And man did it gather quite the hype! This is the first and only Samsung phone to date to feature a motorized camera mechanism, and thus a notch-less display.

More on the display, it’s a gorgeously tall 6.7-inches Super AMOLED panel. Remember, the camera modules have a flipping mechanism and not the regular one that pops-up. That means you get an excellent camera performance since the same module is used for selfies and back camera photography. It’s got triple lenses with a 48MP primary shooter, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a ToF 3D sensor.

samsung galaxy a80 rotating camera

Performance ain’t bad either. Galaxy A80 has the same Snapdragon 730 chipset like the A71. The phone comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of non-expandable internal storage. While it came at an outrageous asking price of about Rs. 79,000 when it hit the market in Nepal, the Galaxy A80 is now available at a lot less. Therefore, it’s one of our top picks for top smartphones under 50000 in Nepal.

Samsung Galaxy A80 Specifications:

  • Display: 6.7-inches Super AMOLED panel with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection
  • Resolution: Full-HD+ (2400 x 1080 pixels); 20:9 aspect ratio
  • Chipset: Qualcomm Snapdragon 730; 8nm Mobile Platform

5. Samsung Galaxy A70s

It’s not news that Samsung has been expanding its A-series to all kinds of price ranges. And this one targets the higher-end-mid-range segment. Yes, that’s confusing. But well, it is there. The Samsung Galaxy A70s almost steps up to the phablet category with a tall 6.7″ Super AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution. Also, the A70s’ display has the same kind of Infinity-U display as seen on other A-series phones.

Samsung Galaxy A70s design pattern back plastic panel

It has a triple camera set up at the back that comprises of a 64MP primary camera, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, and a 5MP depth sensor. The U-notch houses another 32MP selfie camera. Also, you get the new Snapdragon 675 processor powering it, along with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. In addition, there’s a large 4,500 mAh battery with 25-Watt Fast Charging.

Samsung Galaxy A70s Specifications:

  • Display: 6.7-inches “Infinity-U” Super AMOLED panel

6. OPPO Reno3

The next entry in our list of top phones under 50000 is the recently launched OPPO Reno3. Like always, the cameras are the main highlights of this phone. The Reno3 has an impressive quad-camera setup at the back, which comprises of a 48MP primary lens, a 13MP telephoto lens with 5X hybrid zoom, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and finally a 2MP B/W monochrome lens. The selfie camera, on the other hand, is a big 44MP lens housed inside the small waterdrop notch on top of the display.

oppo reno 3 color options

From our preliminary testing, the cameras produce decent images, so that’s nice. In terms of performance, the OPPO Reno3 is powered by the Helio P90 chipset. That’s a pretty good mid-range but it’s in no way on par with the ones from Qualcomm, namely the Snapdragon 730/G or the new 765/G. Anyways, it’s coupled with 8GB of RAM and has 128GB of internal storage. With its admirable cameras and good-enough performance, the OPPO Reno3 takes the 5th spot in our list of top smartphones under 50000 in Nepal.

Another impressive thing about the Reno3 is the Hidden Fingerprint Unlock 3.0, which the company claims can unlock the phone in about 0.34 seconds. Moving to the battery, the OPPO Reno3 has a 4,025mAh cell, that supports VOOC 3.0 quick charging.

OPPO Reno3 Specifications:

  • Display: 6.4-inches Super AMOLED panel
  • Resolution: Full-HD+ (2400 x 1080 pixels); 20:9 aspect ratio
  • Chipset: MediaTek Helio P90; 12nm Mobile Platform
  • CPU: Octa-core (2×2.2 GHz Cortex-A75 & 6×2.0 GHz Cortex-A55)
  • GPU: PowerVR GM9446
  • RAM: 8GB
  • Storage: 128GB (expandable)
  • OS & UI: Android 10.0 with ColorOS 7 on top
  • Rear Camera: Quad-camera;
    – 48MP, f/1.8 primary shooter
    – 13MP, f/2.4 telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom, 5x hybrid zoom

  • Sensors: Fingerprint (Under-display), Accelerometer, Gyro, Proximity, Compass
  • Price: Rs. 46,990 (8/128GB)

7. OPPO Reno2 F

Slightly different from the others at this price, the Reno2 F has an amazing seamless design. Like the K20 Pro and V17 Pro, this one has a 6.53-inches AMOLED display and a pop-up selfie camera. You get a total of 4 cameras at the back whose performance, you could say is better than the K20 pro and Nova 5T. The front camera performs equally good as well.

Battery- wise, the 4,000 mAh battery is very enduring and the good thing is the phone charges very quickly. It takes 1 hour 28 minutes to get from 0-100% with its VOOC 3.0 charger. The performance, however, is backed by an underwhelming Helio P70 chipset.

oppo reno2 F best phones under 50000 nepal price

Though the camera performance, the design, and battery endurance on the Reno2 F are quite good, the core performance is really not comparable to other phones on the list. However, if you’re someone who doesn’t value the core price-to-performance thing and are just looking for a phone with good design & cameras, the OPPO Reno2 F is a good option.

OPPO Reno2 F Specifications:

  • Display: 6.53-inches AMOLED panel with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection
  • Resolution: Full-HD+ (2340 x 1080 pixels); 19.5:9 aspect ratio
  • Chipset: MediaTek Helio P70; 12nm Mobile Platform
  • CPU: Octa-core (4×2.1 GHz Cortex-A73 & 4×2.0 GHz Cortex-A53)
  • GPU: Mali-G72 MP3
  • RAM: 8GB
  • Storage: 128GB (expandable)
  • OS & UI: Android 9.0 (Pie) with ColorOS 6.1 on top
  • Rear Camera: Quad-camera;
    – 48MP, f/1.7 primary wide-angle shooter
    – 2MP, f/2.4 depth sensor
    – 8MP, f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle lens
    – 2MP, f/2.4 B/W monochrome lens

  • Front Camera: 16MP, f/2.0 aperture (motorized pop-up)
  • Battery: 4,000mAh with VOOC 3.0 Fast Charge

8. Huawei Nova 5T

The Nova series from Huawei is one of the most popular series in the Nepali market. The Huawei Nova 5T is the latest addition and offers flagship-grade Kirin 980 chipset. Hence, it is quite similar to the Redmi K20’s performance. Even the camera quality is similar to that of K20 Pro. The Nova 5T, however, misses out on the telephoto lens but offers a macro lens for closeup shots. Also, it lacks the OLED display and instead offers an IPS panel.

huawei nova 5t screen with punch hole

There’s a 32MP selfie snapper that we liked while reviewing it. The 3,750mAh battery also provides a typical 1 day of usage. There’s 22.5W fast charging that charges the phone in less than 1.5 hours. All in all, Huawei’s Nova 5T is a stellar mid-ranger and thus is one of our picks for the best phones under 50000 in Nepal.

Huawei Nova 5T Specifications:

  • Display: 6.26-inches IPS LCD panel
  • Resolution: Full-HD+ (2340 x 1080 pixels); 19.5:9 aspect ratio

9. Vivo V17 Pro

Unlike the K20 Pro and Nova 5T which offers flagship-grade performance, the V17 Pro isn’t all about performance. It features rather dated Snapdragon 675 chipset which we now see on budget phones like Redmi Note 7 Pro. But, the Vivo V17 Pro still manages to find a place in our list of top smartphones under 50000 in Nepal.

vivo v17 pro back design view

The V17 Pro offers a dual pop-up camera that houses a primary 32MP selfie camera and an 8MP wide-angle lens. The wide-angle selfie camera at this price range is a plus since no phone has this feature. Similarly, there’s a quad-camera setup at the back that compromises of the usual 48MP primary lens, 8MP wide-angle lens, 13MP telephoto, and a 2MP depth sensor.

Vivo V17 Pro Specifications:

  • Display: 6.44-inches Super AMOLED panel with Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection
