If you have taken an InDrive ride before, you may have known that — the kind of car you will be getting is anyone’s guess. It could be new, it could be old, who knows? But with the InDrive Comfort feature, you get a curated selection of sedan-class cars.
In the context of Nepal, that would mean the Tata XPRES-T EV since it is the only sedan-class vehicle used as a taxi here. The only other such vehicle I have seen running as a cab in the Kathmandu valley was a Neta V50 — that too once.
All in all, with InDrive Comfort users get high-standard cabs with clean and spacious interiors, air conditioning, and an overall luxurious ride experience.

With the great standard — of course — comes great prices. (That’s some Uncle Ben stuff right there). However, the spike isn’t as great as you would expect. In my brief time of comparing the prices, the InDrive Comfort rides were about 6% higher than the regular option. Sounds about right.
The company says the pricing is fair, transparent, and without surges running in the background. The bargaining feature is still there. That being said, the riders rarely accept the minimum fare you offer anyway. So, the pricing might not go how you exactly want it to. Meanwhile, the company personnel did hint that the waiting time could be a little longer in exchange for the premium features you will be getting.
InDrive Comfort: Conclusion
The introduction of InDrive Comfort brings more premium service in exchange for a slight price hike — sure. But this also marks the shift of the top two ride-sharing platforms in our country towards a tiering modality. Yes, Pathao also has a similar service called “Car Plus”.
As such, both InDrive and Pathao are following in the footsteps of Uber, which has over 10 tiers of ride-sharing ranging from Uber Pool to Uber Lux. This isn’t bad or anything, but it does have a potential dark side, which Mrwhosetheboss explains in detail in his video. Hopefully, we are not heading in a similar direction.
