Optoma Cinemax ultrashort throw projector with a 120″ 4k screen is here!

We don’t generally cover projectors and smartscreens but this one seemed a little too special to avert eyes from. Optoma’s Cinemax D2+ projector with a 4k native resolution and up to 240Hz refresh rate is finally here, so we’ll discuss its features, specifications, and price in Nepal shortly in this piece.

Optoma Cinemax D2+ Overview

Projection

The Optoma CinemaX D2+ is a laser light home projector meant to elevate your media experience with an expansive 4k screen going up to a whopping 120 inches. It can effectively project a large enough screen from a short distance due to its ultra-short throw of 0.25:1. That means at just 15” from the screen, it can project a 60” wide picture, making it optimal for homes and living spaces.

It covers 121% of the standard Rec 709 colorspace with different resolution presets ranging from 1080p to 4k at 16:10, 16:9, and 4:3 ratios. It’s also great for a game hub of sorts since the input latency is just about 4ms and the refresh rate can go up to 240Hz at 1080p.

Battery and Power

Moreover, the laser illumination projector can go super bright at up to 3000 lumens and has a rated lifespan of 30,000 hours. That’s about 20,000 soccer games, 13,000 movies, or 4 hours of everyday use for over 20 years. It also supports HDR content and Hybrid Log Gamma with a contrast ratio of over 1.8 million to 1.

The projector consumes anywhere from 190W-230W during operation so to keep it cool, the fans kick in, but the company claims fan noise of under 30db which should not be a bother to your entertainment sessions.

For connectivity, there are 3 HDMI 2.0 ports with eARC support for a rich audio and video experience. There’s also an S/PDIF port, a 3.5mm jack for audio, and a USB A port alongside an RS232 on the back. You also get some extra neat features like four-corner adjustment, 2D keystone correction, and warping support.

In terms of dimensions, it measures 576 x 383 x 130 and weighs 12kgs. The package also includes an Android TV dongle from Hako Mini. There’s also an inbuilt speaker unit and IP5X rating against dust and debris.

Redmi launched its flagship K80 series in China. Alongside the phones, the company also outed some accessories to go with them. In this article, we will look at the Redmi Watch 5 in further detail, including its price in Nepal.

Design and Display

The Redmi Watch 5 has a functional crown on the right for easier navigation. It can be paired with various quick-release straps for further customisation. Buyers can also choose from optional Kona leather magnetic straps for added style. Furthermore, the watch is 5ATM water resistant.

It has a 2.07-inch AMOLED display on the front with a 60Hz refresh rate. It peaks at 1,500 nits of brightness. The bezels are rather slim too at just 2mm. Xiaomi launched its flagship phones, the 15 and 15 Pro, just last month. Now, the company’s value-oriented sub-brand, Redmi, has also launched its flagship offering. The new phones come with top-tier flagship chips and a design overhaul. This article will discuss the Redmi K80 in further detail, including its expected price in Nepal.

Redmi K80 Overview

Design and Display

The Redmi K80 looks quite different from its predecessor, with an updated circular camera island. The phone has 2.5D curved edges and a dual-tone finish. It is also IP68-rated against ingress and water exposure. It ships in Snowy Rocks, Black Mountains, Green Tide, and Blue Moon at Night colour options.

On the front, the phone has a 6.67-inch OLED screen jointly developed by Redmi and TCL Huaxing. It stretches 2K in resolution, refreshes at a rate of up to 120Hz, and achieves a peak brightness of 3,200 nits. Likewise, it offers a standard and instantaneous touch sampling rate of up to 480Hz and 2,560Hz respectively. Furthermore, you get full-range DC dimming, 12-bit colour depth, P3 wide colour gamut and wet hand touch support. Redmi has also layered the K80 screen with Corning Gorilla Glass 7i for added protection.

Performance

The Chinese tech giant has opted for last year’s Qualcomm flagship processor for the primary performance duties. Meanwhile, the Redmi K80 comes in various combinations of up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage.

The phone packs a large heat dissipation unit and a bunch of in-house chips that boost various performance aspects such as signal reception, battery management, and charging. Fingerprint sensors are one of the most convenient ways to unlock your phone, but have you ever thought about the type of sensor inside your device? There are three main types of fingerprint sensors: Physical, Optical, and Ultrasonic. While physical sensors are easy to identify since they’re located on the exterior, Optical and Ultrasonic sensors are both in-display sensors, which can cause some confusion. Let me help you navigate the differences between the two.

Optical vs Ultrasonic sensors

Optical fingerprint

First, let’s define each type. Optical fingerprint sensors work by reflecting light off your finger. When you touch the scanner, the phone’s display lights up. Inside the display, there’s a small camera and a few LEDs that bounce light off the ridges of your fingerprint. The camera captures a 2D image of the pattern, which is then processed and compared to stored fingerprints. The phone unlocks if it finds a match.

Ultrasonic fingerprint

On the other hand, Ultrasonic fingerprint sensors use sound waves to scan your fingerprint. These sensors are hidden behind the display and emit an inaudible sound wave when your fingertip makes contact. The waves hit the pattern of your fingerprint and return to the sensor.

By analyzing the reflected waves, the sensor creates a 3D model of your fingerprint. Unlike optical sensors, ultrasonic sensors don’t rely on light, meaning they work well in any condition—rain, shine, or with wet and oily fingers. This makes them more accurate than optical sensors.

Which is the better choice?

While optical sensors are generally cheaper to develop, ultrasonic sensors offer significant advantages in terms of compatibility and security. They also provide better performance, especially in challenging conditions. However, it’s important to note that while ultrasonic sensors are more secure, they are not foolproof. Display Features

The Redmi K80 Pro comes with a 6.67-inch 2K AMOLED flat display, co-developed with TCL. The screen offers a peak brightness of 3200 nits, a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, full brightness DC dimming, and 12-bit color support. The bottom frame is narrower compared to the previous generation. The Redmi K80 Pro has a glass back and a metal frame. It includes IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance.
