Compact phones are more or less extinct in today’s scenarios. However, Unihertz says it’s just getting started and aims to put together the world’s smallest 5G phone. Well, it’s ambiguous whether or not it is the smallest 5G phone, which is why the company has put a “?” behind the title. In this article, we will delve further into the Unihertz Jelly Max and discuss all about it.
Unihertz Jelly Max Overview
Design and Display
Touted as the smallest 5G phone, the Unihertz Jelly Max is truly tiny. This thing is just 128.70 mm in length, however, it has a considerable chunk at 16.30 mm. On the other hand, it weighs in at 180 grams giving it a similar heft to a regular smartphone. This phone has extremely curved edges and comes with a transparent back panel and a customisable button on the side. Additionally, Unihertz is also designing magnetic armbands and clips, and Bike Mounts to go together with this phone.
On the front, this phone has a 5.05-inch LCD panel that stretches 720 x 1,520 pixels in resolution. The company says that the screen-to-body ratio on this thing has gone up by 50% compared to their previous offering i.e. Jelly Star. While that may be true, the bezels on the Unihertz Jelly Star are on the thicker end by 2024 standards — especially on the chin area.
Performance
While the Unihertz Jelly Max might be tiny in terms of stature, this thing does not sleep on the performance side of things. You are looking at the MediaTek Dimensitty 7300 as its primary driver. This is the same chipset we saw on CMF Phone 1 and it comes with 4nm fabrication and a peak clock speed of 2.5GHz.
Additionally, it packs a 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage. This is the only combination the phone will be available in. The Unihertz Jelly Max also supports a MicroSD card. However, the upper ceiling of the external memory support has not been specified. On the software end, this phone boots on Android 14 and apparently comes with new features to offer enhanced data security, expanded accessibility, and seamless connectivity.

Camera and the rest
The cameras on the Unihertz Jelly Max are also impressive, at least on paper. It has a dual-camera setup on the back comprising of a 100MP primary shooter and an 8MP 3.4x telephoto lens. Similarly, the front-facing camera is 32MP in resolution and doubles down as a face scanner. For additional biometric security, you get a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.
In the tank, it has a 4,000 mAh battery which is large enough considering its size. Furthermore, it supports charging speeds of 66W. For cellular connectivity, it has a hybrid dual SIM slot and 5G support from numerous telecom operators. In addition, the Unihertz Jelly Max comes with WiFi 6, Bluetooth v5.4, NFC, and a dual-frequency four-way navigation system as well. Lastly, it is also equipped with an IR blaster through which you can control other home appliances like TVs, ACs, etc.

Unihertz Jelly Max Price in Nepal and Availability
This phone is currently up for crowdfunding, making it the company’s tenth phone to be brought to life through this medium. It go for mass production and will start shipping on October 2024. While the regular price of the phone will be USD 339, supports can bag this phone for as low as USD 199 per unit.
Given the limited nature of this phone, it is highly unlikely to be available in Nepal. But by some miracle, if it arrives here, we expect the Unihertz Jelly Max price in Nepal to be NPR 54,449.
