OPPO F23 5G goes official with 120Hz IPS display, 67W fast charging

OPPO’s “F” series is a pretty popular lineup of midrange smartphones from the Chinese tech giant. And OPPO F23 5G is the latest addition to this series, which is an apparent successor to 2021’s OPPO F19 since last year’s OPPO F21 Pro series didn’t have a vanilla F21 model. By the way, OPPO F23 5G is a simple rebrand of the OPPO A98 that launched in Malaysia a week ago. So let’s get into the specs, features, and expected price of OPPO F23 5G in Nepal.

Design and Display

Like how most OPPO phones have a special emphasis on visual aesthetics, the F23 5G gets a similar treatment. It boasts a boxy form factor with 8mm thick flat frames. Looking at the rear side, the circular camera module is encased in a pill-shaped frame with a shiny glowing pattern flowing below. The back panel is also 3D curved and carries a glossy outlook, especially on the “Bold Gold” color variant. Whereas the “Cool Black” derives a subtle dark look.

On the front, you get a 6.72-inch IPS LCD panel with an FHD resolution. This screen has a 120Hz refresh rate, a 240Hz touch sampling rate, and covers 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut too. Thanks to its LTPS technology, the display also features a 6-level variable refresh rate option.

Performance

And running the show on the OPPO F23 5G is Qualcoomm’s Snapdragon 695 5G chipset, which is almost two years old now. This mid-range silicon consists of two Kryo 660 Gold (Cortex-A78 @2.2 GHz) and six Kryo 660 Silver cores (Cortex-A55 @1.7 GHz). Handling the graphics here is an Adreno 619 GPU.

For a 2023 smartphone, this chip should still suffice the needs for casual everyday usage and some gaming. But something newer like the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 would’ve been a much better choice. The phone is available in a sole 8GB RAM and 256GB storage configuration and boots on ColorOS 13.1 built on top of Android 13.

Camera

Moving on, OPPO F23 5G houses a triple camera setup, headlined by a 64MP f/1.7 primary shooter. It is followed by a 2MP microscopic sensor with 20/40x zoom and a 2MP monochrome unit. Yep, there’s no ultrawide camera here. Upfront, you get a 32MP f/2.4 selfie camera with 89° FoV. Sadly, both the front and back cameras can only record up to 1080p 30fps videos.

Battery and Others

This smartphone gets its juice from a 5000mAh battery with 67W SUPERVOOC and 18W USB-PD charging support. For connectivity, it has 5G, WiFi 5, Bluetooth 5.1, a USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Furthermore, OPPO F23 5G houses a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and dual stereo speakers.

In India, OPPO F23 5G will be available from May 18, and it will cost INR 24,999 for the sole 8/256GB variant. We expect the OPPO F23 5G price in Nepal to be NPR 44,999 if and when it launches here.
