SanDisk announces world’s first 8TB and 4TB SD cards

0

SanDisk has announced two new memory cards: an 8TB SD card and a 4TB microSD card. These cards mark a significant advancement in storage technology, especially when considering that the largest SD cards in 1999 had just 32MB of capacity. The company has also introduced a 16TB version of its SanDisk Desk Drive, currently in the proof-of-concept stage, with a potential market launch on the horizon. However, in this article, we will exclusively talk about the latest SanDisk 8TB SD card, including its expected price in Nepal and specifications

SanDisk 8TB SD Card Overview

Capacity

The 8TB SD card can store approximately 165,000 raw 24MP image files, while the 4TB microSD card can hold over 660 games with a 12GB file size.

Applications

The new cards are particularly useful for handling 8K video and high-resolution still photography.

The 8TB SD card is suitable for professional photographers who need to store large volumes of data on a single card. Meanwhile, the 4TB microSD card is well-suited for use in drones, smartphones, and gaming devices like the Nintendo Switch and Steam Deck. The new cards are particularly useful for handling 8K video and high-resolution still photography.

Performance and Potential Risks

Both cards are UHS-I, meaning they have slower transfer speeds compared to UHS-II cards. The speed rating (V classification) has not been disclosed. Additionally, there is a risk of data loss if a single high-capacity card fails, so some users might prefer using multiple smaller cards for backup purposes.

SanDisk 8TB SD Card Price in Nepal and Availability

SanDisk has not announced the new cards’ pricing or release dates. The 8TB SD card is expected to be significantly more expensive than current high-capacity options, such as the 1TB SanDisk Extreme Pro, which is priced at around $140. Hence, we will update you when it officially gets available,

Itel RS4 is the most affordable phone in Nepal powered by Helio G99 Ultimate

Itel similar to its sister companies — Infinix and Tecno, specialise in offering good deals on budget. While the latter two have started building a brand reputation, Itel falls behind in that regard. However, that did not stop them from introducing the cheapest smartphone powered by Helio G99 Ultimate in Nepal. Let’s take a deeper look at the Itel RS4 including its price in Nepal in this article.

Itel RS4 Overview

Design and Display

The Itel RS4 comes in a pretty standard smartphone design of recent times. As such, it has a large centrally aligned circular camera island. It also has streaks and lines on the back which are inspired by racing cars as per the company. This reigns true for the Silvery White and Lurex Black options only. The Elegant Beige comes in a vegan leather finish with stitching running across it, giving it a premium look. Sadly, this variant of the phone did not arrive in Nepal.

Itel RS4 Display

On the front, the phone sports a 6.56-inch HD+ display. The company is reluctant to mention the type of panel on this phone. This likely means that the Itel RS4 is probably rocking an IPS LCD panel. While the vibrancy of the screen might not be the best, it is not at all slow. It boasts a rapid refresh and touch sampling rate of 120Hz and 240Hz respectively.

Performance

Itel is leaning heavily on the gaming capabilities of the phone. It packs the MediaTek Helio G99 Ultimate, which is pretty much the best option in this price range. In fact, this is the cheapest phone to come with this processor. Talking of the silicon itself, it comes with 6nm fabrication and clocks in at a maximum of 2.2 GHz. Itel also promises that the RS4 can deliver high frame rates on popular titles like Mobile Legends, PUBG, and FreeFire.

MediaTek Helio G99 Ultimate

In addition, the phone comes with either 8GB or 12GB of memory with an option to virtually double it. However, only the lower option is available in Nepal. On the other hand, the Itel RS4 has a single storage option of 256GB. It boots on itel OS 13, which in turn is based on Android 13.

Camera and the rest

The camera department in this phone is rather mediocre. It comes with a single 50MP shooter on the back. It also has what seems like another camera lens, but all it does is play pretend. Meanwhile, the Itel RS4 has an 8MP unit on the front for selfies and facial recognition.

Itel RS4 Camera

It packs a 5,000 mAh battery with up to 45W of PowerCharge support. Similar to its sister companies, Itel lets you toggle between the charging types depending on your needs. Not only that, the Itel RS4 also supports bypass charging. This tech allows the phone to be directly powered through the charger instead of the battery. As a result, the phone does not heat up while also ensuring the longevity of battery health. Lastly, the phone also packs a Z-axis motor, gyroscope, dual WiFi antennas, and dual speakers to further enhance the gaming experience.

Itel RS4 Specifications

  • Design and Build: Monotone design with vegan leather or plastic back, 8.15 mm, 200 grams
  • Display: 6.56 inches, LCD Panel*, 120Hz refresh rate, 240Hz touch sampling rate

Samsung Galaxy S24 FE’s renders are out!

Samsung launched the Galaxy S23 FE just a few months earlier, and it was quite a unit (check review). Now, recent developments suggest that the company is gearing up for the 2024 iteration. Let’s discuss all that we know of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S24 FE in this article.

Samsung Galaxy S24 FE Rumours Round-up

Design and Display

Design-wise, Samsung has already reached its final destination. So, we might not see any changes here. And the recent renders by Android Headlines also show that. As you can see, the S24 Fe retains the typical non-Ultra flagship vibe with the metallic frame. There is no key isnald here which has become a thing on the A Series phone.

Meanwhile, the display will be a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2x panel with an Infinity-O cutout, 120Hz refresh rate, and 1900nits of peak brightness. We might see a minimal increase in the size to 6.6 inches from the 6.4 inches on the S23 FE. Furthermore, the screen will come with the Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ protection like its A35 and A55 compatriots.

Ahem… Exynos!

The Samsung Galaxy S23 FE came with the Exynos 2200 chipset under the helm. Now with the talks of even the high-end S series phones integrating Samsung’s in-house silicon from 2025, it’s almost a no-brainer that the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE will do the same. And the recent rumors have proved this fact.

Samsung Exynos 2400 chipset

The Samsung Galaxy S24 FE will feature the Exynos 2400e processor. It should be a bit different from the regular Exynos 2400 chip found on the S24 and S24 Plus.

Camera and Battery

If the leaks go true, the S24 Fe will sport a 50MP 1/1.57-inch main sensor, the same as on the Galaxy S24 and S24+. So, the rest of the cameras are a 12MP ultrawide, an 8MP 3X telephoto sensor, and a 10MP selfie snapper.

Fueling the phone will be a 4,565mAH battery with 25W of charging support, most probably.

Samsung Galaxy S24 FE Specifications (Rumored)

  • Display: 6.7″ FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity-O, 120Hz refresh rate
  • Chipset: Exynos 2400e 5G (4nm)
  • Software & UI: One UI 6.1 on top of Android 14
  • Rear Camera: Triple (with LED flash)
    – 50MP primary lens with f/1.8 aperture, OIS, Dual Pixel AF
    – 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens with f/2.2 aperture, 123º FOV
    – 8MP telephoto with f/2.4 aperture, 3x optical zoom
  • Front Camera: 10MP, f/2.2 lens (punch-hole)
  • Security: In-display fingerprint sensor (Optical), Samsung Knox
  • Sensors: Accelerometer, Barometer, Gyro, Geomagnetic, Hall, Proximity, Ambient Light
  • Battery: 4,565mAh with 25W fast charging

Samsung Galaxy S24 FE Launch and Availability

The exact date for its launch is still under the curtains. But rumors are speculating it to launch in early 2025 or October 2024. We’ll continue to add more info as and when they become available. So stay tuned.

Realme 13+ spotted and ALL MAJOR SPECS ARE OUT!

Realme has been busy with its 13 series, launching the Pro and Pro+ models near the end of July. Then the company unveiled the 4G-only base model a few days ago. Now we are getting some wind about a “Plus” model too! Let’s look at the Realme 13+, all the rumours, and what we know about the phone.

Realme 13+ Rumours Round-up

Certifications

Geeksdigit spotted a new Realme smartphone in Chinese telecom authority TENAA’s database. This phone carries the model number “RMX5002” and is suggested to be the Realme 13+. The listing also gives us a first look at the phone and reveals its key specifications!

So, what’s up?

Design and Display

The Realme 13+ has a similar design blueprint to its series compatriots. That being said, it has a large camera circular island sitting at the top and aligned to the centre. Meanwhile, the phone has a monotone finish without any visible textures or patterns. As of now, only a Black colour option has been spotted. Realme will likely provide at least one other shade to choose from.

Realme 13+ design leak

On the front, the Realme 13+ will sport a 6.67-inch display with AMOLED panel. The screen will be FHD+ in resolution stretching 1,080 x 2,400 pixels. We also have hands on the dimensions and weight of the phone. It will be 161.70 mm x 74.70 x 7.60 mm while weighing 185 grams.

Performance and other hardware

Under the helm, the phone will have an eight-core CPU that will clock in at a peak of 2.5GHz. Sources are expecting the processor to be MediaTek Dimensity 7300. Other than that, the Realme 13+ will offer four memory as well as storage options. The RAM on this thing can be 6GB, 8GB, 12GB or 16GB. In the meantime, internal storage starts at 128GB and goes all the way to a terabyte.

Realme 13+ TENAA listing

The listing mentions that the phone has a 4,880 mAh cell in the tank. This is likely the battery’s rated capacity and will have a typical capacity of 5,000 mAh. The source also mentions a 50MP primary shooter and a 2MP auxiliary lens. This means that the Realme 13+ has a dual camera setup on the back, and one lens is only a decor. Talking of the front camera, it will be a 16MP unit.

Geekbench Listing

The same source also spotted the phone on Geekbench. This time around, the phone has a little different model number i.e. “RMX5000”. However, the overall similarity between the two model numbers suggests it’s likely the same phone, just different configurations.

Realme 13+ Geekbench listing

Anyhoo, the Realme 13+ variant spotted in Geekbench carries a 6GB memory. The listing also reveals further details about the processor. It has four cores clocking in at 2.00 GHz and the rest goes up to 2.50 GHz. This architecture is indeed the one MediaTek Dimensity 7300 has, more or less confirming the speculation. Furthermore, the chipset has a single-core and multi-core score of 1,043 and 2,925 respectively.

Realme 13+ Specifications (Rumoured)

  • Design: Monotone design with large centre-aligned circular camera island
  • Dimensions: 161.70 mm x 74.70 mm x 7.60 mm
  • Weight: 185 grams
  • Display: 6.67” AMOLED Panel
  • Resolution: FHD+ (1,080 x 2,400)
  • Chipset: Octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 7300 (4nm)

  • Front Camera: 16MP Camera (Centre-aligned hole-punch cutout)
  • Battery: 5,000 mAh (Typical), 4,880 mAh (Rated)

Realme 13+ Launch and Availability

There are no words on the launch date of Realme 13+ at this time. However, with all the leaks and listing, it feels like it is not very far off. The Realme 13+ might go public in the coming few weeks, maybe a few months at the latest.

New Chipset, Same Old Story? Unpacking the MediaTek Helio G100

0

MediaTek has announced its new series of chipset which closely resemble its predecessor. In this article, we will discuss MediaTek Helio G100 and its specifications.

MediaTek Helio G100

Rebranding of Helio G99

The MediaTek Helio G100 is built using TSMC’s 6nm (N6) chip production technology, which is quite outdated we can say. It has an octa-core CPU, with two Arm Cortex-A76 processors clocking up to 2.2GHz and six Cortex A55s at 2 GHz, and a capable Arm Mali G57-class GPU. It also supports LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2-class storage, good enough for daily tasks. However, nothing of this is new to the Helio G99!

The standout feature of the Helio G100 is its improved ISP. Unlike the G99, which supported 108 MP, the Helio G100 now supports a 200 MP single camera. It also includes 2.2μm pixel binding for enhanced night shots, hardware dual camera support, and lossless in-sensor zoom. The G100 supports dual 16 MP shooting and 32 MP video recording at 30fps, features that remain unchanged from the previous model.

MediaTek Chipset

Helio G100’s new feature

One new feature in the Helio G100 is the “Elevator Mode,” which quickly restores cellular connections from areas with no coverage, such as tunnels or elevators. It also supports dual 4G SIMs with VoLTE (Voice over LTE) and ViLTE (Video over LTE).

It’s not totally surprising, but it’s still kind of unusual that MediaTek revealed the chipset over a week after the Tecno Camon 30S Pro‘s release with the same chipset.

Just the G99 in Disguise?

So, Helio G100 is basically G99 with a bit better ISP. While it primarily focuses on improving camera performance, particularly with features like Elevator Mode, there aren’t any changes in other aspects.

Helio G100

The MediaTek G99 chip is a quite popular option for budget smartphones, and because the G100 isn’t very different, it’s expected to achieve similar market success in the budget segment. However, the Snapdragon 4s Gen 2, a likely competitor to the G100, in comparison offers slightly better performance and storage (UFS) support. So it might potentially be more preferred option in the entry-level processor segment.

Xiaomi preps to launch a smartphone with 7500 mAh battery and 100W charger

0

You probably have heard of Oukitel making headlines with their massive 10k to 20k mAh batteries and might have wondered whether the big smartphone companies will create such big batteries. Well, in a recent report, we have found that Xiaomi is apparently making 7500 mAh batteries and overall shifting its approach towards enhancing battery capacity.  In this article, we will discuss everything about the recent rumors regarding Xiaomi’s battery development approach.

Xiaomi’s Battery Approach Rumor

A massive wave of fast-charging approaches broke out a couple of years back, with companies trying their best to charge smartphones as quickly as possible, and Xiaomi even hitting the 200W mark. However, the Chinese company has now taken a different route in its approach to batteries and fast charging. According to a leak from Digital Chat Station on Weibo, Xiaomi is now focusing on enhancing battery capacity in its smartphones, potentially signaling an industry-wide shift in priorities.

7500 mAh battery

The New Battery Configurations Under Development

At Xiaomi’s R&D center in the Nanjing Science and Technology Park, engineers are reportedly working on new battery technologies that balance capacity and charging speed. The following configurations are rumored to be under consideration:

  • 5,000 mAh with 120W charging: A full charge in 18 minutes.
  • 5,500 mAh with 100W charging: A full charge in 34 minutes.
  • 6,000 mAh with 120W charging: A full charge in 30 minutes.
  • 6,500 mAh with 100W charging: A full charge in 49 minutes.
  • 7,000 mAh with 120W charging: A full charge in 40 minutes.
  • 7,500 mAh with 100W charging: A full charge in 63 minutes.

These new options suggest that Xiaomi is aiming to provide users with longer battery life while maintaining respectable charging speeds, rather than chasing the diminishing returns of faster charging.

Industry-Wide Shift

Xiaomi is not alone in this pivot towards larger batteries. Other leading smartphone manufacturers, including Honor, Vivo, and OnePlus, are also making similar moves. These companies are increasingly adopting silicon-carbon cells, which, while not the fastest to charge, offer significantly higher energy density. This means larger batteries can be packed into slim devices, offering consumers more usage time without frequent recharging.

For example, Vivo’s X Fold3 includes a 5,500 mAh battery with 80W charging in a device just 4.7 mm thick. Similarly, the OnePlus Ace 3 Pro features a 6,100 mAh battery paired with 100W charging. And there is a recent rumor on X (previously twitter), that the upcoming Xiaomi 15 Pro might feature a 6000 mAh battery as well.

Looking Ahead: What’s Next for Xiaomi?

While it remains unclear which specific model will first feature this new battery technology, the company’s reported change in direction suggests that consumers may soon benefit from smartphones that prioritize longevity and balanced performance over the raw speed of charging. If these rumors hold true, Xiaomi’s next-generation devices could set a new standard for battery technology.

NVIDIA RTX 4080 Super Price in Nepal [Updated]

0

NVIDIA just announced the Super variant of its 4080 graphics card for a much more digestible price than what the RTX 4080 initially went for. It also brings a bit of an upgrade when it comes to performance with faster memory, more CUDA cores, and an uncut AD103 chip. In this article, let’s take a quick look at the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 super, its specs, upgrades, price in Nepal, and availability.

NVIDIA RTX 4080 Super Overview:

Super variants of NVIDIA graphics cards are basically GPUs with slightly improved performance and sometimes added features. The RTX 4080 Super we are talking about also brings a couple of hardware tweaks for improved horsepower.

Getting into the basic overview, the Nvidia RTX 4080 Super features an uncut ADD103 chip. That means the full 10,240 CUDA cores, 320 texture mapping units, and 112 ROPs. The base clock frequency of 2.21GHz stays the same while the boost clock gets a slight boost from 2.51 GHz to 2.55 GHz. Besides that, there’s also a larger 736 GB/s bandwidth and 16GB of GDDR6X VRAM. The TGP stays the same at 320W.

NVIDIA RTX 4080 Super comparision

Performance Gains

With all that, if you thought that the 4080 Super doesn’t look very appealing over the 4080, you are not alone. NVIDIA has positioned the 4080 Super for those upgrading from older cards like the 2080 Super or 3080 Ti.

RTX 4080 Super Gaming Chart

In fact, NVIDIA says that this card is 1.4x faster than the RTX 3080 Ti in games like Alan Wake, Cyberpunk 2077, and Portal with RTX with raytracing and all the other settings cranked to max without frame gen. With it though, the company claims double the performance over 3080 Ti which is super impressive especially if you consider the price.

Since its a high-end graphics card, there’s a lot of use for applications like ML (Machine Learning), creative uses, and streaming as well. For instance, NVIDIA says that producing 1024×1024 images using Stable Diffusion WebUI by Automatic1111 is 1.7x faster, and generating video in Stable Video Diffusion is 1.5x faster than the RTX 3080Ti. Even 3D apps like Blender should run up to 70% faster than previous-generation cards.
