Words were going around that Qualcomm was working on two new chips for quite some time. The first one was the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, which the company unveiled just a few days ago. Now they also released the other “SM7675” chipset with the market name — Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3! In this article, we will be discussing the recently launched Qualcomm mid-ranger in further detail.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 Overview

Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 is the successor to the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2, as the name suggests. The latest chip follows the same route of bringing flagship architecture to the midrange space. However, this time it takes things up a notch, which we will discuss in the…

Internals

Starting with the fact that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 comes in a similar architecture to the top-of-the-line Snapdragon 8 Gen 3! This chip features a cortex-X4 prime core, which is the third time we have seen this core in a Qualcomm chip. On top of that, this is the first time the core has been featured in a midrange processor.

To clarify more on the architecture of the chipset, it comes in TSMC’s 4nm fabrication process. Meanwhile, it has one prime core @2.80 GHz, four performance cores (Cortex-A720*) @2.60 GHz, and three efficiency cores (Cortex-A520*) @1.90 GHz.

Meanwhile, in terms of graphics, the latest 7 series processor might pack the Adreno 732, which reportedly clocks at 0.9 GHz. The naming of this GPU suggests that it will be slightly weaker than the one featured on the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3. However, we get to see Adreno Frame Motion Engine 2 on this chipset. As per the company, this feature allows you to double the frame rate of a game. Despite having a similar architecture it unsurprisingly does not feature ray-tracing.

Presenting: On-device Generative AI

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 comes with on-device generative AI capabilities. This is the first time we are seeing such a feature being introduced to the 7 series, and by extension in midrange chips. Moreover, it comes with support for a variety of leading LLMs and LVMs.

Hardware Support and the rest

The latest Qualcomm 7 series processor comes with similar hardware support to the Qualcomm 8s Gen 3. Meaning, it comes with support for up to 24GB LPDDR5x RAM with frequency of 4,200MHz. Meanwhile, you also get UFS 4.0 storage and USB 3.1 Gen 2 support. This chip can support on-device display of 4K @60Hz or QHD+ @144Hz.

Talking of the camera, it can work with up to 200MP sensors. However, you can enjoy only 30FPS with Zero Shutter Lag on lenses of up to 108MP resolution. It supports video recording of up to 4K @60fps.

Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 3 Display support

The Qualcomm 7+ Gen 3 deviates from the latest semi-flagship in terms of modem, as it opts for the X63 5G modem. It, however, is WiFi 7-ready as well as Bluetooth v5.4 support. Similarly, this chip also comes with triple-frequency navigation support with GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo, QZSS, and NavIC satellites. Lastly, it supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 5 technology offering you breakneck charging speeds.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 Launch and Availability

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 was announced on 21 March 2023. The OnePlus Ace 3v is the first smartphone to pack this processor which also launched on the same day.
