Qualcomm officially unveils the Snapdragon X Plus processor for laptops

Qualcomm has finally announced their latest processor for laptops, the Snapdragon X Plus, which is a slightly step-down processor from the X Elite. In this article, we will discuss the Snapdragon X Plus in more detail.

Qualcomm Snapdragon X Plus Overview

Processor 

The Snapdragon X Plus is built on a 4nm process and features a 10-core Oryon CPU with clock speeds up to 3.4 GHz and a total cache of 42 MB. Additionally, it boasts an integrated 3.8 teraflop (TFLOP) Adreno GPU. The Snapdragon X Plus features a 45 TOPS Neural Processing Unit (NPU) for accelerating artificial intelligence and machine learning tasks.

Display 

The Snapdragon X Plus comes with a display processing unit (DPU), named Qualcomm® Adreno™, which supports a maximum on-device display resolution of 4K Ultra HD at 120 Hz and a maximum external display resolution of 4K at 60 Hz. It also supports HDR10 and can drive up to three concurrent displays via a DisplayPort 1.4 interface.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon X Plus features Qualcomm® Adreno™ Video Processing Unit (VPU), which  offers advanced video encoding and decoding capabilities. The encoder supports 4K at 60 Hz, 10-bit depth, and codecs such as H.264 (AVC), AV1, and H.265 (HEVC). Meanwhile, the decoder can handle 4K at 120 Hz, 10-bit depth, and codecs like H.264 (AVC), VP9, AV1, and H.265 (HEVC). The processor includes a dual Qualcomm® Spectra™ Image Signal Processor (ISP) with 18-bit depth, enabling advanced camera capabilities.

Memory and Storage

The Snapdragon X Plus supports LPDDR5x memory with up to 64 GB capacity, 16-bit width, 8 channels, and a transfer rate of 8448 MT/s, resulting in a bandwidth of 135 GB/s. For storage, it offers SD 3.0, NVMe over PCIe 4.0, and UFS 4.0 interfaces.

Connectivity

In terms of connectivity, the processor features Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 support. Additionally, it integrates the Snapdragon™ X65 5G Modem-RF System, offering peak download speeds of 10 Gbps and peak upload speeds of 3.5 Gbps.
