Samsung’s next midrange processor — Exynos 1580 is here!

Samsung just launched its next-generation midrange processor. This one succeeds the Exynos 1480 bringing some incremental upgrades with a redesigned architecture. Let’s discuss the Samsung Exynos 1580 further in this article and its eventual availability.

Samsung Exynos 1580 Overview

Internals

This new Samsung processor is built on the company’s in-house third-generation 4nm EUV FinFET process. Its predecessor was also built on a 4nm process, however, the company has not specified the lithography generation. While that may be true, the Exynos 1580 likely has a better fabrication than the last-gen chipset.

Samsung Exynos 1580

Samsung also updated the CPU architecture to a tri-cluster design. Previously, the Exynos 1480 had four performance and efficiency cores each. In contrast, the Exynos 1580 comes with a Cortex-A720 acting as a prime core clocking at 2.9GHz. In addition, it has three more Cortex-A720 cores capped at 2.6GHz and four Cortex-A520 cores with 1.95GHz clock speed. The featured cores are the newer ARMv9 ones, offering better efficiency.

Graphics and NPU

The graphics department also sees an upgrade to AMD’s RDNA 3 architecture facilitating a 37% increase in peak performance than the Exynos 1480. In the meantime, the Exynos 1580 offers 20% better performance when consuming the same amount of power. The GPU also has an increased GL2 cache.

The NPU however, appears to be the same 6K MAC units. Regardless, the on-device AI might still be better as this chip has a larger 2MB cache. Furthermore, Samsung mentions that this processor supports 14.7 TOPS of AI performance.

Hardware Support and Connectivity

Moving on, the latest chipset from Samsung supports LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. Likewise, it supports an FHD+ display with a 144Hz refresh rate. For cameras, you can have a single camera of up to 200MP resolution. The Exynos 1580 works with a dual-camera setup as well, albeit both lenses are capped at 32MP. Video-wise, this chipset can process 4K videos at 60FPS.

Talking of connectivity, this silicon is unsurprisingly 5G-ready and supports both NR and mmWave bands. Additionally, it also supports Bluetooth v5.4 and WiFi 6E.

Samsung Exynos 1580 Launch and Availability

Samsung unveiled the Exynos 1580 on 24 October 2024. However, it will be some time before this chipset becomes available commercially. The Samsung Galaxy A56 will be the first phone to sport the Exynos 1580, which might launch around March next year. Moreover, the smartphone has already appeared on benchmarking sites with this processor — further solidifying the case.

Oppo Find X8 Pro launched with dual telephoto cameras!

0

Oppo launched its top-of-the-line Find X8 series in China yesterday with a base X8 and a pricier X8 Pro. Since we have already covered the Oppo Find X8 in detail, let’s dive a bit into its Pro sibling, alongside its features, specifications, expected availability, and price in Nepal.

Oppo Find X8 Pro Overview

Design and Display

Oppo’s Find X8 series features flat frames and a sleek premium look. The display on the Pro version is slightly curved on the four corners while the base X8 has a fully flat front. The camera ring is more compact and less protrusive than before and the X8 Pro is available in China in typical Black and White color options with a characteristic Blue variant available as well. Oppo Find X8 Pro Design

The screen is a QHD+ AMOLED screen with a variable refresh rate of 1-120Hz (LTPO). It supports over 1 billion colors and can reach an all-screen brightness of a whopping 1600nits. There’s also HDR 10+ and Dolby Vision support where certain zones can reach up to a blinding 4500 nits.

Performance and Memory

At the helm, there’s MediaTek’s new hero: the Dimensity 9400 baked on TSMC’s N3E 3nm node. The chip looks super fast with its prime Cortex X925 core @ 3.63GHz complemented by a couple of Cortex X4 performance cores and Cortex A720s for efficiency. Alongside that, the upgraded Immortalis GPU promises a substantial boost in graphical workloads of up to 30%. For cooling, there’s a graphite sheet, a large vapor chamber, and some thermal gel for dissipation.

MediaTek Dimensity 9400 Rumors

As for memory, the RAM is LPDD5X with up to 16GB capacity, and the storage can be configured with up to a terabyte. Everything’s running on OPPO’s Color 15 skin built on top of Android 15.

Cameras and Battery

For the Find X8 Pro, Oppo has offered a quad camera rear setup consisting of a primary lens, two telephotos: one with up to 3x optical zoom and the other with up to 6x, and an ultrawide. The primary is Sony’s LYT 808 sensor with a f/1.6 aperture and a focal length of 23mm while the ultrawide and 3x telephoto carry over from the base X8. The extra 6x telephoto is an IMX periscope lens with an aperture of f/4.3 and Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). Housed in the hole punch upfront is a 32MP selfie camera.

Oppo Find X8 Pro Camera

Fueling the Pro is an impressive 5910mAh Silicon Carbide cell that supports up to 80W wired and 50W wireless charging. The Find X8 Pro has WiFi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and NFC support as well alongside 5G connectivity.

Oppo Find X8 Pro Price in Nepal and Availability

This Oppo smartphone is now available in China with a starting price of CNY 5,299 for the base 12/256GB variant. Although unlikely, if the device makes it here, we expect the Oppo Find X8 Pro price in Nepal to be around NPR 140,000.

Oppo Find X8 launched in China with Dimensity 9400!

0

Oppo recently unveiled the curtains on its flagship Find X series with the introduction of the Find X8 and Find X8 Pro. While the ‘Ultra’ of the bunch will be revealed further down the road, the base and the pro models are now readily available in China. In this piece, we’ll take a quick look at the gateway to this X series, the Oppo Find X8, its features, and specifications, and finally an expected price in Nepal alongside some availability scoops.

Oppo Find X8 Overview

Design and Display

Oppo’s flagship X series has always sported an elegant and premium design but the Chinese smartphone maker has gone one step beyond this time to make the X8 sleeker than its predecessors. The camera bump on the back has been noticeably reduced due to the use of multi-prism technology, and the phone in general is slimmer by a millimeter, and more compact in all dimensions.

Oppo Find X8 Design

That’s to say, the display is now a slightly smaller 6.59-inch flat LTPO AMOLED panel that refreshes between 1-120Hz. It’s got all the bells and whistles you’d expect out of a flagship like vibrant colors, high brightness, durable protection, and lots of others. It’s got Dolby Vision support and a very crisp resolution yielding a pixel density of roughly 450 ppi.

Performance and Memory

Under the hood, the Oppo Find X8 is powered by the new Dimensity 9400 chipset from MediaTek. It’s a 3nm chip led by a superpowerful Cortex X925 Arm core running at up to 3.63 GHz. Others that follow are 3x Cortex X4 cores and 4x Cortex A720 cores that clock in at up to 3.3GHz and 2.4 GHz respectively. Since the new SoC has an upgraded Immortalis GPU as well, expect the Oppo Find X8 to dust its predecessor in gaming workloads.  To ensure that, and keep things under wraps, the X8 and its sibling feature a redesigned thermal solution with graphite sheets, vapor chambers, and thermal gel.

Oppo Find x8 Specs

From the memory side of things, the base variant of the Find X8 ships with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. But, there are many different configurations including 16/256GB, 12/512GB, 16/512GB, and finally the top-end 16GB/1TB model. As for the software, the phone boots on ColorOS 15 based on Android 15 with a new look, and many different optimizations, especially in terms of animation fluidity.

Cameras

The cameras are most in focus when talking about new Find X smartphones and this time it’s no different. While the Pro version gets an additional telephoto lens, the base X8 features a 50MP primary Sony LYT 700 sensor, a 50MP ultrawide, and a 50MP IMX 882 telephoto. The primary and telephoto feature both Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF) and Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) while the latter is missing on the ISOCELL ultrawide.

Oppo Find X8 Cameras

All of that is now housed in a sleeker camera island that protrudes less than the previous generation. It is especially commendable considering the primary is the same sized 1/1.56 “ sensor and there’s a similar telephoto with a 73mm focal length. The trick here lies in the use of multiple prisms to save vertical space instead of a periscope layout. Anyways, that hardware is now paired with Oppo’s HyperTone image engine which merges nine frames into one for better clarity and range. Of course, there’s the Hasselblad optimization in terms of colors and portraits that has been the staple for Find X for the last few years. On the front, you get a 32MP selfie camera just like last year.

Battery and Extras

Despite the compact form factor, the Find X8 houses a big 5630mAh battery thanks to the use of Silicon Carbide technology that packs in more energy for the same volume. It’s super quick to charge right back too at 80W wired and 50W wireless top-up support. On the connectivity side, there’s the latest WiFi 7, Bluetooth 5.4 with support for LHDC 5, 5-way GNSS, and NFC. The USB port is limited to Gen 2 speeds though, unlike the X8 Pro.

OnePlus 13 is set to release soon with SD 8 Gen Elite and a new periscope telephoto camera

The OnePlus 13 is all set to change the pattern of release date and get released as early as October and now we already have some official information regarding its design and cameras. In this article, we’ll explore all the details surrounding the release date, rumors, and speculations about the phone’s details.

OnePlus 13 rumours roundup

Display

The OnePlus 13 is expected to feature a 6.82-inch BOE X2 display with a quad-curved design that incorporates micro-curvature. It will have a resolution of 2K.

OnePlus 13 Display

Performance

Like the norm, we are expecting the upcoming Oneplus flagship to ship with Qualcomm’s latest and greatest SD 8 Gen Elite alongside fast memory (LPDDR5x) and plenty of storage (1TB UFS 4.0). If you’re confused about the naming of the upcoming Oneplus smartphone is going to pack, check out our detailed article on Snapdragon 8 Elite here, where we talked about this upcoming chipset.

Camera

The OnePlus 13 features a Hasselblad Triple Rear Camera setup. The main camera includes a 50MP Sony LYT-808 sensor with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). The telephoto lens is now a 50MP 3X periscope, replacing the previous 64MP version, and it has a 1/1.95″ LYT600 sensor with an f/2.6 aperture, also equipped with OIS. Additionally, the ultra-wide camera uses a 50MP Samsung JN5 sensor, providing a 120° field of view. The company also shared some samples from its latest telephoto camera.

OnePlus 13 Camera samples

The periscope design includes a “multi-prism reflection structure,” which allows for a thinner and lighter module. This design improves focusing speed and image clarity. The OnePlus 13’s camera system uses the same imaging algorithm as the OPPO Find X8 series, designed to enhance light and shadow performance while capturing detailed images.

Battery

Given that the OnePlus 12 came with a 5400 mAh battery, an upgrade to around 6000 mAh seems likely for the successor. However, the charging capabilities may remain the same, with 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.

OnePlus 13 Launch Date and Availability

While the predecessor, the OnePlus 12 debuted in December of last year, the OnePlus 13 is set to break from tradition with an earlier release. This time, we can expect the OnePlus 13  to make its debut by the end of October or the beginning of November. Initially, it will launch in China before making its way to global markets.

Yatri P1 Gen 2 has some useful design tweaks

Yatri is working on the second generation of Project 1 which comes with some design tweaks to its predecessor. It will also have the company’s trademark Mountain Hold technology, and Apple CarPlay as well as Android Auto support! Let’s discuss all that we know of the Yatri P1 Gen 2 further in this article, including its price in Nepal.

Yatri P1 Gen 2 Overview

After all the “No provision on number plates for made in Nepal bikes” ordeal, it appeared that Yatri had settled down. Gone stagnant, perhaps. The company was expanding its charging stations here and there. But, not much was heard from them. Well, surprise, surprise! Turns out the company was working on Yatri P1 Gen 2!

You sneaky sneaky… 👀

The naming of the upcoming bike is an obvious sign that it is a reiteration of the popular Yatri P1. Not much information is available about it as of now for the second iteration of the bike. The company dropped the first teaser back on 21 October 2023 with a post captioned “Gen2 loading…”.

Yatri P1 Gen 2 announced

Yatri continued dropping subtle hints after that. Later, they posted a render of the Yatri P1 Gen 2 on 19 January 2024. Looking back, the company had been posting photos of the unreleased bike ever since the first teaser right at our faces!

What’s new?

World’s first!

Yatri announced that the Yatri P1 Gen 2 will be the world’s first electric two-wheeler to feature wireless Apple CarPlay as well as Android Auto! This means that you can now connect the Yatri bike with whatever smartphone you have. Additionally, this will turn the bike into a secondary device giving you access to essential features like calling, texting, music control, calendar, and most importantly navigation! Talk about convenience!

Yatri Apple CarPlay

Likewise, the aforementioned vehicle platform from both operating systems also converts the connected mobile device into the vehicle key itself. Moreover, the vehicle detects whenever the owner is nearby, and auto-unlocks! The support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto Yatri would suggest that this feature will also be available. However, Yatri has not revealed if that will be the case. So, that one’s up in the air.

Mountain Hold

The Kathmandu Valley has a pretty uneven plane and is full of inclined roads. Say you are going uphill and you get a call. Traditionally, you would have to stop the bike, take your phone out of your pocket and receive the call while holding the brake the entire time. For situations like this, Yatri offered a physical brake lock in the previous iteration.

Yatri Mountain Hold announcement

However, they are taking a different approach for the Yatri P1 Gen 2 — enter Mountain Hold feature. With this, the bike will sense that you’ve stopped on a slope and hold its position. In the meantime, you can let go of both the brakes, take your phone out and receive the call. Or you could just accept the call from the bike itself now that it supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto… you get the point. This feature also eases parking on steep surfaces without having to worry about the two-wheeler rolling backwards and falling over.

It is not the first time we have seen a feature like this though. Popular electric scooters brands like Ather and Zeeho offer a similar feature dubbed “AutoHold” and “Slope Hold” respectively. But it’s not about being the first to introduce the feature. It’s about adding quality-of-life updates — and Mountain Hold surely is one such update.

The dashboard

While the inclusion of the vehicle platform is cool and a headlining feature on its own, we can draw another conclusion from it too. The dashboard is getting an upgrade! We can further confirm this with the image posted by Yatri themselves. They have given the dashboard some definite retouching coming from the P1.

The sidelight signals have been integrated into the bezels on either side, while the right bezel sees an extra indicator for the high beam. The Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration has made the UI more intuitive. This also hints that Yatri has upgraded the display on the P1 Gen 2 with touch controls enabling interactions with the dashboard. Previously, the bike had a colour screen but lacked touch controls while also having a limited interface.

Looks and Build

The looks are also an obvious change over here. While most of the body looks entirely the same, we can see that the headlight area has gone through some remodelling. The disc brakes look more neutral while the tyres appear to have more grooves.

Yatri Project One Gen 2

The company also shared that it took one million kilometres worth of road data and user feedback into consideration when developing the Yatri P1 Gen 2. Moreover, they claim that the coming iteration of the bike will “deliver better and consistent performance over longer and adventurous trips”. They are also saying that it will come with a more optimised system with better reliability.

The little design tweaks

Recently Yatri shared all the little design tweaks they’ve added on to the P1 Gen 2. This includes an extended fender on the front, a language rack on the back, and an addition of a crash cage.

All these design decisions have been taken with adventure riding in mind. Firstly, the extended fender protects the bike’s frame and the rider from mud and gravel that the tyres throw off. Likewise, the luggage rack does exactly what it sounds like — it helps you fasten your luggage onto the bike.

Yatri P1 Gen 2 Frame Slider

Yatri has integrated a Crash Cage into the bike this time. It is a larger frame that also includes a much-requested frame slider in it. This protects the P1 Gen 2 from scratches, which will be a highly appreciated addition considering the price of Yatri bikes so far. Also, you can customise the colour of the frame slider!

While the Nepali bike manufacturer shared all these design tweaks through their social media, it is unclear if they will be available on all the units or as add-ons. Personally, the latter option seems more plausible.

Yatri P1 Gen 2 Price in Nepal and Availability

Some sources are claiming that the company is opting for a low-powered motor offering the same range as the Yatri P1. As a result, Yatri can price the P1 Gen 2 more competitively in Nepal —  landing somewhere around NPR 450,000. If it’s true, it is very exciting news since other imported electric bikes were cheaper than the OG Yatri P1.

Now, the last standing question is when is it launching? There are no words about it so we cannot tell concretely. The company hinted that they would soon be dropping the full specifications of the Yatri P1 Gen 2. But when will the bike itself drop? It’s anyone’s guess. Looking at the way the company’s been trying to hype its audience, they might launch it this very year! The Nepali year though — so… I’m guessing by the end of 2081 B.S.

While I am saying that, it’s just a speculation from my end too. So, take it with a grain of salt, if you will!

Firstly, the phone will apparently have the current Qualcomm flagship processor — Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 under its helm. It might pack a large 6,500 mAh battery with fast charging support of 100W. Likewise, it will likely have an OLED panel from BOE as its display which stretches 1.5K in resolution.

Snapdragon 8 gen 3

Since it will be a performance-focused device, it will probably cut corners in the optics department. While that may be true, it will not miss out on a decent primary shooter, which could very well be a 50MP camera with a Sony IMX9-series sensor.

Software

All the above specs are expected on the OnePlus Ace 4. We can expect the same with the OnePlus 13R by extension — as both phones are identical as I mentioned earlier. They do differ software-wise though, as China receives ColorOS while the international market gets OxygenOS. Regardless of whichever UI it is, it will be based on Android 15 for sure.

OnePlus 13R Launch and Availability

The OnePlus 13R will presumably launch after the OnePlus Ace 4. We can expect the latter to arrive in December this year. Additionally, the OnePlus 12R went live in January 2024. Given that, we can expect the OnePlus 13R to be available in January as well — so, in 2025.

Insta360 launches Ace Pro 2 for the year with support up to 8K @ 30 fps

Insta360 has unveiled the Ace Pro 2 action camera for this year. This new device directly competes with established brands like GoPro and DJI. In this article, we will discuss everything about the latest Insta360 Ace Pro 2, including its expected price in Nepal.

Insta360 Ace Pro 2 Overview

Video and Photo Features

Equipped with a 1/1.3″ sensor, the Ace Pro 2 records 8K video at 30fps and 4K video at 120fps. The camera utilizes a 157-degree wide-angle Leica Summarit lens, which includes Leica color profiles for enhanced image quality. Users can also capture still photos at 50 MP resolution.

Insta360 Ace Pro 2 Design and Display

The camera supports 2x zoom without any quality loss and features an integrated wind guard to minimize audio interference during recordings.

Design and Display

Rugged in design, the Ace Pro 2 is water-resistant up to 12 meters and includes precise controls for underwater shooting. This makes it suitable for various environments and activities.

The camera features a design reminiscent of GoPro products. Its front display provides essential information but does not offer a live feed. Instead, a 2.5-inch hinged main screen delivers improved brightness and pixel density for better viewing.

AI-Driven Enhancements

The camera incorporates AI-enhanced software to improve performance in low-light situations. The PureVideo feature reduces noise while enhancing brightness and detail, although it is limited to recordings at 4K60fps.

Battery Performance

The Ace Pro 2 has a battery life of up to 180 minutes. Users can achieve an 80% charge in just 18 minutes using a 30W PD adapter, while a full charge takes 47 minutes.
