AYANEO launches a mini PC with APU and an adjustable display

AYANEO recently held an event where they revealed a bunch of retro products updated with modern-day hardware. The event showcased handheld consoles including a Game Boy-like offering, a graphics dock, a power bank, and a mini PC. In this article, we will highlight the latter product i.e. AYANEO Retro Mini PC AM01S and also discuss its price in Nepal.

AYANEO Retro Mini PC AM01S Overview

Design

This mini PC from AYANEO is the successor to the Retro Mini PC AM01 and gets an “S” added to its name. The device remotely resembles the Macintosh Plus — just like its predecessor — and looks like it is straight out of the 80s. It has got a bit of redesign, but, still gives the same retro vibe.

The AYANEO Retro Mini PC AM01S comes with a flip-up screen which is the first in the series. The company has not revealed the exact specifications of this panel as of yet. However, they do mention that it will display performance data while also allowing for performance mode adjustments. Given that, this display is likely a touchscreen. Other than that, this mini PC comes with a wide choice of port options. This includes two USB4s, two 2.5G ethernet, six USB Type-A, two HDMIs, and a 3.5mm audio jack.

Performance

In terms of performance, the AYANEO Retro Mini PC AM01S relies on the Ryzen 8000HS series APU. To be more specific, this thing packs either a Ryzen 7 8845HS or a Ryzen 9 8945HS processor. Both these silicon are built on Zen 4 architecture, rely on AMD Radeon 780M for graphics, and come with AMD Ryzen AI. While there are a lot of similarities between the two processors, they are set apart by a slight difference in their clock speeds.

Additionally, the Chinese manufacturer has pushed the TDP of these chips by 20W and as a result, achieves a 65W TDP. In the meantime, AYANEO has also equipped the Retro Mini PC AM01S with a dual-fan cooling system to keep the thermals steady. Regardless, it will likely be available in various configurations as well as a barebone option similar to its previous iteration.

Therefore, considering the upgrades, the AYANEO Retro Mini PC AM01S might go for upwards of USD 299, which translates to its price in Nepal being around NPR 47,599.

[The price I mentioned for this product is merely my speculation, hence, the official price will most definitely be different. And the chances of this mini PC making its way to Nepal is quite unlikely too.]

Asus announced the latest iteration of their Zenbook S 13 OLED series of laptops a while back. These new laptops are available in two configurations under the model numbers UX5304VA and UX5304MA, the latter of which has arrived in Nepal. Here in this article, we will discuss the Asus Zenbook S 13 OLED (2024) in further detail including its price in Nepal.

Design and Display

Asus Zenbook S 13 OLED (2024) is an Intel Evo laptop, and that already gives us an idea of what’s it about. It boasts a slim frame measuring just around 10mm and weighing just a kilogram. Despite that, it is quite durable with its US MIL-STD-810H standard. In addition to that, it features a plasma ceramic aluminum body and comes with linear patterns on the lid.

This makes 2022’s Swift 3 models, which have just arrived in Nepal, the last in the lineup. So, let’s look at the official specs, features, latest price, and availability of the Acer Swift 3 (2022) in Nepal.

Depending upon the region, Acer offers the Swift 3 in three screen sizes: 13.5”, 14”, and a 16” variant. That said, the 14” Acer Swift 3 14 (2022) is the only variant— that you can get in Nepal. Although it now packs a faster RTX GPU, the design of Swift X 2022 has remained mostly the same. You get the same metal chassis with 17.9mm thickness and 1.39 kg weight. The lid is of a different color than the rest of the body, and Acer offers a couple of options to choose from.

Keeping the laptop cool is a single “ring” fan with inclined blades. It cools down the heat brought from the CPU and CPU through the dual D6 copper heat pipes. Air enters the setup with air inlets at the bottom and in between the keys. Likewise, the air gets pushed out the air through the exhaust event at the bottom of the display.

Design and Display

The Meizu 21 Note has a similar design language to the rest of its series members. It especially looks the same as the titular phone with two camera cutouts and the RGB Aicy Smart Ring. Other than that, it is 2.5D curved both on the front and the back. This phone is IP65 rated and is available in Unbounded Black and Meizu White colour options.

On the front, the phone houses an 8T OLED panel that stretches 6.78 inches diagonally. With this, it is fair to say the screen on the Meizu 21 Note is rich, smooth, and vibrant.

Performance

Under the helm, this phone packs the second-generation flagship chip from Qualcomm i.e. Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Though two new offerings have been launched by the foundry after this one, its days are far from over and is still a very capable processor. With its help, Meizu has powered the 21 Note with AI capabilities such as summarisation, game optimisation, circle searching, image upscaling, etc.

In addition to silicon, the phone comes in two memory and storage configurations. It only has a single 16GB RAM option while for storage you can choose between 256GB and 512GB. The Meizu 21 Note also packs a 5,000 mm2 vapour chamber cooling system to keep the phone’s thermals and performance in check.

Camera and the rest

The cameras on the Meizu 21 Note include two shooters on the back and one on the front. The primary camera here is a 50MP unit with a 1/1.56” sensor offering OIS and 8K video recording capability. Additionally, the auxiliary camera on the back is a 13MP ultrawide-cum-macro lens. Meanwhile, the front camera is a 16MP shooter that sits underneath the hole-punch cutout.

The phone packs a 5,500 mAh battery which is the largest in its series in terms of raw capacity. It is coupled with a fast charging capability of 66W Super mCharge. Motorola has launched the Moto X50 Ultra smartphone in China. The device packs high-end specifications and features with the chipset and the camera setup. This article will cover the details of the Moto X50 Ultra, including its expected price in Nepal.

Moto X50 Ultra Overview

Design and Display

The Moto X50 Ultra has a sleek design with dimensions of 8.6 mm thickness and a weight of 197 grams. It features a glass front with Gorilla Glass Victus protection and either a wooden or silicone polymer (eco-leather) back. The frame is made of aluminum. The phone supports dual SIM (Nano-SIM, dual stand-by) and is IP68 dust/water resistant, withstanding immersion in up to 1.5m of water for 30 minutes.

The Moto X50 Ultra boasts a 6.7-inch P-OLED display with a 20:9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 1220 x 2712 pixels (~444 ppi density). Performance and Storage

The Moto X50 Ultra runs on Android 14 out of the box. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset, built on a 4nm process. The chipset features an octa-core CPU with one Cortex-X4 core clocked at 3.0 GHz, four Cortex-A720 cores at 2.8 GHz, and three Cortex-A520 cores at 2.0 GHz. The Adreno 735 GPU handles graphics.

The Moto X50 Ultra is available in three configurations: 256GB 12GB RAM, 512GB 12GB RAM, and 1TB 16GB RAM. The internal storage uses UFS 4.0 technology, but the device does not have a card slot for expandable storage.

Performance and Memory

The most significant change in this year’s Acer Predator lies on the inside. It packs the latest 12th Gen Intel H-series gaming processor. The one being discussed here has the Core i7-12700H, a tetradeca-core processor with 6 performance and 8 efficiency cores. This is paired with NVIDIA’s RTX 3060 GPU with 6GB of GDDR6 and 115W TGP.

With the new 12th Gen processor onboard, Acer Predator Helios 300 (2022) now supports the latest DDR5 memory. You get two SO-DIMM with up 16GB of DDR4 RAM out of the box. However, users can later upgrade it to up to 32GB. For storage, you get two M.2 SSD slots arranged in a RAID 0 configuration.

To help cool the laptop during an extended period, Acer has used two 5th Gen AeroBlade 3D fans, each with 89 blades. It is further backed by liquid metal thermal grease and the in-house CoolBoost solution.

Design

Acer Predator Helios 300 2022 Gaming Design

Over on the outside, Acer has made some minor changes to the 2022 edition of the Predator Helios 300. The biggest of all is the hinge. Now, the display sits on two distinct pedestals, differentiating from the keyboard deck below. Furthermore, the top lid does retain the Predator logo, but the two curved lines next to it are gone. As a result, the latest Helios 300 has a more formal look than its predecessor.

As with previous years, Acer offers the Predator Helios 300 (2022) in 15.6” and 17” versions. This article will stick to the former since it’s the only one that is currently available in Nepal. It is an FHD panel with a 165Hz refresh rate and a 3ms response rate. There is even a QHD model with the same specs, but like the 17” version, it is yet to launch in Nepal.
