LG Gram Pro series launched with the latest Intel processors

Lucky Goldstar, better known as LG, has put their Gram Pro series of laptops up for sale. The series consists of three members: a 16-inch one, a 17-inch variant, and a 2-in-1 laptop. Let’s discuss the LG Gram Pro series in further detail in this article including its features, specifications, and expected price in Nepal.

LG Gram Pro Series Overview

Design and Display

As mentioned earlier, the LG Gram Pro series comes in three flavours: a 16-inch option, a 17-inch one, and a 2-in-1 variant that also comes with a 16-inch screen. You get a full-size keyboard with a number pad all across the series. Meanwhile, all these laptops come in a single-tone black colour. Other than that, the 2-in-1 variant also offers stylus support.

The screen size of these laptops is clarified in the name itself. However, the panel can either be an OLED or an LCD. The OLED panel has a WQXGA+ resolution spanning 2880 x 1800 pixels while offering a 48–120Hz variable refresh rate. On the other hand, the LCD panel comes in a WQXGA resolution measuring 2,560 x 1,600 pixels and refreshes at a rate of 31–144Hz. You get 400 nits of brightness regardless of the panel choice. In the meantime, you only get an LCD screen on a 17-inch variant.

Performance

The LG Gram Pro series packs one of the two latest Intel Core Ultra processors i.e. 5 or 7. As for now, only the Ultra 7 variants are up for preorder. For graphics, you get Intel Arc integrated graphics at the very least. The 16 and 17-inch variant can also come with NVIDIA RTX 3050 with 4GB GDDR6 VRAM.

Additionally, you can configure these laptops with up to 32GB LPDDR5X dual-channel memory, and up to 2TB Gen4 NVMe SSD. Lastly, the LG Gram Pro laptops also come with a dual cooling system keeping the thermals in check.

Battery and the rest

You get two battery options depending on your graphics choice. If you have the integrated Intel graphics, you get a 77Wh battery, while the dedicated graphics card users get to enjoy a 90Wh cell in their tank. This also means that the LG Gram Pro 2-in-1 will only get a sole 77Wh battery option.

In addition to that, you get stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support. Furthermore, these laptops come with an FHD webcam with dual-mic. The port selection includes two USB 3.2 Gen 2 type-A, two Thunderbolt 4, HDMI, a four-pole headphone jack, and a MicroSD card slot. You get Intel WiFi-6E and Bluetooth 5.3 support for wireless connectivity.

The Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro has been available for a little while now, and the company is just launching the base variant of the watch. The vanilla model is almost similar to the Pro variant, so what’s the difference? Let’s discuss the Xiaomi Watch 2 further in this article.

Xiaomi Watch 2 Overview

Design and Display

Firstly, the Xiaomi Watch 2 has a different design from the Pro variant. The base model has two buttons for navigation on the right while the Pro version featured a crown. Moreover, the Xiaomi Watch 2 comes in an aluminium build while boasting the same ATM 5 water resistance.

On the front, you get the same AMOLED panel that measures 1.43 inches in diameter. Additionally, the resolution on the screen measures 466 x 466 pixels. In terms of colour options, the Xiaomi Watch 2 is available in two flavours: Black, and Silver.

The chipset under the hood of this smartwatch is the Qualcomm Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1. This suggests that it runs on Wear OS and comes with the same configuration of 2GB RAM and 32GB internal storage.

Xiaomi Watch 2 Price in Nepal and Availability

This smartwatch has appeared as an Amazon listing with a price of 200 euros in Germany, and Italy. However, Xiaomi has not listed it on their website at the moment. It will be available to purchase from 24 February in Italy, and a day later in Germany. When it goes live we will have more information on the watch and will update this article accordingly.

As it stands, if and when this smartwatch makes its way here, we expect the Xiaomi Watch 2 price in Nepal to be NPR 34,599.

Huawei Pocket 2 launched with “Hyperspectral” camera and vapour chamber cooling

Foldable phones are getting more impressive as time passes. Now Huawei has launched one such powerful clamshell phone — Pocket 2 with stacked hardware across the board. In this article, we will discuss the Huawei Pocket 2 in greater detail including its expected price in Nepal.

Huawei Pocket 2 Overview

Design and Displays

As mentioned earlier, the Huawei Pocket 2 is a clamshell foldable phone with IPX8 water resistance. This phone comes in four regular colour options: Tahitian grey, Rococo white, Taro purple, and Elegant black. The first two variants flaunt a pearl-inspired design with a glass back while the latter two come in a leather finish. Additionally, this foldable also has an Art Custom Edition named the “Blue Dream”. This version of the phone has Kunlun Glass 2 protection on the back. It also has lines drawn all across its back that appear to shift depending on the angle.

The primary screen on this phone measures 6.94 inches diagonally and boasts an FHD+ resolution spanning 2,690 x 1,136 pixels. This screen supports an adaptive refresh rate of 1–120 Hz, a touch sampling rate of 300 Hz, and a high-frequency PWM dimming of 1,440 Hz. Moreover, it is supported by a Xuanwu water drop hinge offering a gapless fold and a flat unfold.

Meanwhile, the external screen on the Huawei Pocket 2 measures 1.15 inches in diameter and sits below the camera module. This screen offers an adaptive refresh rate of 1–60 Hz and a touch sampling rate of 120 Hz. The resolution here spans 340 x 340 pixels and comes with added functionality like displaying QR codes for smart payments. Finally, both these screens are OLED panels with a colour depth of 1.07 billion and P3 wide colour gamut support.

Performance

The chipset powering the Huawei Pocket 2 is a mystery since the company has not listed it in its listing. While that may be true, sources are assuming the silicone to be the Kirin 9000S. It is Huawei’s in-house flagship chipset, however, it doesn’t hold much water against other processors in the market. There is a whole lot of fiasco that goes on with Huawei, its phones, chips, and all. Meanwhile, you can learn more about the Kirin 9000S in our dedicated article. While that’s there, it is an octa-core processor built on 7nm lithography and peaking at 2.62 GHz clock speed.

Other than that, it comes in two memory options 12GB for the regular ones and 16GB for Art Custom Edition. On the other hand, the Huawei Pocket 2 offers storage choices of 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB. It also allows you to add up to 512GB of external storage via the company’s proprietary NM card.

This phone for the first time comes with a mid-frame vapour chamber and a three-dimensional heat dissipation structure. Coupled with the 1,800 W/m·K high thermal conductivity graphene material this phone offers more stable and cooler performance. Lastly, on the software side of things, it runs of the HarmonyOS 4.0.

Camera and the rest

The Huawei Pocket 2 is a one-of-a-kind flip phone in terms of camera, as it packs four shooters on the back. The camera department is led by a 50-megapixel unit with OIS capability. Additionally, the second camera in this setup is a 12MP ultrawide lens. Thirdly, we get an 8MP telephoto camera offering 3X portrait shots along with optical image stabilisation.

Lastly, this phone also flaunts a 2-megapixel hyperspectral camera with ultraviolet intensity and sunspot detection capability. With this, you can perform fluorescent photography as well as use it to take a UV Sunscreen Test. In the meantime, the front camera is a 10.7MP ultrawide-angle camera with f/2.2 aperture.

In the tank, you have a 4,520 mAh silicon negative battery. This battery is probably similar to the 2nd Gen Silicon-Carbon Battery from Honor. The Huawei Pocket 2 supports 66W wired as well as 40W wireless fast and 7.5W reverse charging.

In terms of wireless connectivity, you get dual-band WiFi along with Bluetooth v5.2 with high-res audio codec support. Additionally, this phone is also capable of two-way Beidou satellite messaging where you can send messages via the Changlian app even when there is no terrestrial network. Lastly, the wired connection is handled by a sole USB 2.0 Type-C port.

With every brand going ‘Ultra’ with its name and the camera game, Xiaomi’s 2024 iteration is here with the Xiaomi 14 Ultra moniker. This new guy brings the solid quad camera setup, packing a 1-inch LYT-900 sensor, a 5X periscope, a 3.2X telephoto, and a 50Mp ultrawide unit. Sony LYT 900 Sensor, 5X Periscope

Addressing the elephant of the room, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra boasts a new 1-inch Sony LYT-900 sensor, an upgrade from the IMX989 the company used in the last model. In addition, this Leica Simmilux lens gets the f/1.6 – f/4.0 ‘Stepless Variable Aperture’ technology, claimed to capture 136% more light than its predecessor, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra. Next up, the zoom game is pretty much the same as last year.

You get a 50MP 3.2X telephoto lens and a 5X periscope lens. But the 120mm periscope camera gets a wider f/2.5 aperture and it can do 30X AI-powered zoom. Plus, the minimum focusing distance is 10cm from the 3.2X 75mm camera and 30cm from the 5X 120mm periscope lens.

And last not the least, filling the quad camera setup is a 50MP ultrawide sensor with 122˚FoV. Upfront, there is a 32MP f/2.0 selfie snapper capable of shooting 4K at 60fps.

Continuing the Xiaomi-Leica partnership, this camera-centric Xiaomi 14 Ultra gets all the Leica goodies such as Leica Authentic, Leica Vibrant modes, Leica exclusive filters, and so on.

Design and Display

In terms of build, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra goes for a flat frame body with slightly curved edges on the back. The regular editions come with an aluminum alloy middle frame with a glass or eco-leather back. Meanwhile, you can also opt for a Grade 5 Titanium frame edition for the extra sturdiness. As for the ingress protection, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra is sorted with an IP68 dust and water resistance rating.

Xiaomi has opted for a curved 6.73-inch screen with 2K resolution (3200 x 1440) pixels with self-developed Longjing glass protection. This is not your usual curved display but lightly curved on all sides like on the Xiaomi 14 Pro. It supports a 120Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision, HDR 10+, and 3000nits of peak brightness.

Under the hood, this Xiaomi flagship is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. This 4nm fabbed SoC boasts a prime Cortex-X4 core clocking at 3.3GHz, five Cortex-A720 cores at 3.2GHz, and two A520 cores running at 2.3GHz frequency. Handling the graphics is the Adreno 750 GPU. And to keep the thermals in check, there is a 3X larger vapor chamber cooling.

In terms of memory and storage, you get three options for the Xiaomi 14 Ultra: 12/256GB, 16/512GB, and 16GB/1TB. Moreover, booting the smartphone is the new HyperOS built on top of Android 14.

Fueling the Xiaomi 14 Ultra is a 5,300mAh battery with 90W wired fast charging, 80W wireless, and 10W reverse wireless charging support. Even the battery gets G1 and P2 chips for protection. Talking of connectivity, the Titanium Special Edition gets two-way satellite communications. While all of the versions boast a T1 signal enhancement chip for improved WiFi, cellular, and Bluetooth connectivity.

Xiaomi announced their Pad 6S Pro 12.4, alongside the Xiaomi 14 Ultra in a launch event yesterday. The naming scheme might suggest that Xiaomi is going the Apple route and will be launching a smaller (likely 11-inch) Pad 6S in the near future. In this article, let’s take a peek at the Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro including its features, specifications, price in Nepal, and availability details!

Design and Display

Xiaomi’s Pad 6S Pro features a uniform metal body design with a rectangular camera cutout on the top right and the company’s branding on the bottom alongside magnetic connection points. It weighs nearly 100 grams lighter than Apple’s 12.9-inch iPad Pro but is still somewhat hefty at 590 grams. The tablet is available in Black, Blue, and Green colorways.

iQOO has taken the curtains off from the most anticipated iQOO Neo 9 Pro in India. This premium midrange phone boasts the last-gen flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC and 120W fast charging. The major highlight of the iQOO Neo 9 series is the performance. It is powered by the Snapdragon Gen 2 SoC under the hood. This 4nm fabbed chip features one Arm-Cortex X3 (@3.19GHz), two Arm-Cortex A715 (@2.8GHz), two Arm-Cortex A710 (@2.8GHz), and three Arm-Cortex A510 (@2.0GHz). For graphics, there is an integrated Adreno 740 GPU.

The new iQOO Neo 9 Pro leaves behind the boxy camera island seen in its predecessors, instead opting for two individual roundish units. And to suit that fresh look, the device is available in Fiery Red, and Conqueror Black color options.

While the OnePlus 12 is the flagship phone from the company, its younger sibling–the 12R is no less amazing. With flagship-grade performance, great camera hardware, and long-lasting endurance, it’s for sure a great overall package for the price. And it’s the first time that an R series OnePlus phone is available globally (including Nepal). Plus, the preorder for this phone has already begun. So, in this article, let’s take a look at the OnePlus 12R price in Nepal, its specifications, and other features.

Display and Design

The OnePlus 12R features a 6.78-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a “1.5K” resolution. Additionally, this curved display boasts LTPO 4.0 tech and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection. The phone’s design language, with a center-aligned camera island adheres to the current OnePlus style.

Performance and Memory

Under the hood, the OnePlus 12R is powered by the last gen’s flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 silicon. This TSMC’s 4nm fabbed chipset features 1x Cortex-X3 at 3.2GHz, 2x Cortex-A715 at 2.8GHz, 2x Cortex-A710 at 2.8GHz, and 3x Cortex-A510 at 2.0 GHz. Handling the graphics chore is the Adreno 740 GPU. To keep it all cool, you get the same dual VC setup (9,140 mm²) as in the regular OnePlus 12.

Memory-wise, we get to see up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of UFS 4.0 storage. But the base 8/128GB variant features slower UFS 3.1 storage.

The phone boots on OxygenOS 14 based on Android 14 with some neat features and optimizations like the Trinity Engine.

Camera

The OnePlus 12R goes for the usual main + UW + macro setup without any kind of Hasselblad shenanigans. The primary camera is the same 50MP Sony IMX 890 sensor with OIS from the OnePlus 11R(review). It is accompanied by an 8MP ultrawide unit alongside a 2MP macro camera. In addition, OnePlus 12R sports a 16MP selfie camera on the front.

Battery and Connectivity

Additionally, the phone has a 5,500mAh battery, a 10% increase from last gen. It brings 100W fast charging which can take the phone from 1-100% in just 26 minutes. But while the OnePlus 12 brings wireless charging, we don’t see that in the 12R.

On the connectivity side, OnePlus 12R features Bluetooth 5.3, WiFi 7, and NFC.
