Fire-Boltt, an Indian homegrown brand is gearing up to launch an interesting product under the namesake “Dream”. It is a smartphone in the form factor of a smartwatch. As a matter of fact — the company is marketing this product as a “wristphone”, and rightfully so! Let’s delve into further details of the Fire-Boltt Dream, its specifications, price in Nepal, and so on.

Fire-Boltt Dream Overview

Design and Display

As I have said earlier, the Fire-Boltt Dream is a wristphone. Given that, it comes with all the basic specs of a smartphone but in a smartwatch’s form factor. Therefore, looking at it, it looks like any smartwatch with a screen up front. It features a home button, a speaker, and a crown on the right side. Meanwhile, the SIM tray sits on the left side of the device and the bottom features the sensor base. All of this is packed in an IP67-rated body and comes in 12 different colour-and-band options.

On the front, we are getting a TrueView display that measures 2.02 inches diagonally. The company has not specified what kind of panel it is, it is an IPS LCD panel perhaps. Nonetheless, it spans 320 x 386 pixels in resolution while being capable of 600 nits of peak brightness and a refresh rate of 60Hz.

Performance

To offer you the performance of a smartphone, the Fire-Boltt Dream comes with a combination of Cortex-A7MP quad-core CPU and Mali-T820 MP1 GPU. It is further coupled with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage. In the meantime, it also features the Fire-Boltt Health Suite offering you all the health and fitness tracking capabilities of a smartwatch.

On the software end, it runs on THE Android OS instead of the Wear OS. As a result, you can access the entire Google suite while also tapping into the wide selection of apps via Play Store. This includes the likes of your favourite social media apps, dating apps, e-commerce apps, streaming services, and even lightweight games like Temple Run, Subway Surfers, and Clash of Clans. It’s 2024 and Oppo has finally taken the curtain off from the Find X7 Ultra. Designed to be a camera powerhouse, the specs are pretty slick with a 50MP 1-inch main camera, dual 50MP periscope lenses with 3X and 6X optical zooms, and a 50MP ultrawide unit. Without further ado, let’s walk through the specs, features, and expected price of the Oppo Find X7 Ultra in Nepal.

Design and Display

Talking of the design, the Oppo Find X7 Ultra goes for a bold look with a two-tone color and a big camera bump on the vegan leather rear side. The middle frame is metal, which houses the power key, volume rockers, and an alert slider. Oppo ships this guy in three shades— Ocean Blue, Sepia Brown, and Tailored Black.

Moving to the front, this flagship device houses a 6.82-inch QHD+ curved screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and LTPO technology. This ProXDR panel is claimed to enhance the overall dynamic range for HDR content. Other attributes include 2160Hz of PWM dimming, 4500nits of peak brightness, 240Hz touch sampling, and DCI-P3 color gamut support.

All about the Camera

Let’s address the elephant in the room. The Find X7 Ultra rocks a quad-camera setup with solid sensors. First up, there is a 1-inch 50MP Sony LYT 900 primary shooter with OIS. Then, you get a dual 50MP periscope lens, for the first time in a smartphone. One is a 65mm Sony IMX890 sensor with a 3X optical zoom while the other one is a 135mm Sony IMX858 with a 6X optical and 120X digital zoom.

Both lenses are optically stabilized too. It is accompanied by a new 50MP Sony LYT-600 ultrawide unit with 123 degrees of FoV. With this, the Find X Ultra is capable of zooming between 14mm and 270mm. Over on the front, there is a 32MP snapper for selfies and video calls.

As a part of the Hasselblad collaboration, it will also get a Master Mode for tuning the images and also enabling RAW shooting for those editing junkies. Oppo has promised a 16-bit RAW MAX mode through a software update in March.

Performance

Fueling the horsepower on the core is the top-of-the-line Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. This 5G SoC is based on a TSMC’s 4nm process and features a prime Cortex-X4 core clocking at 3.3GHz, five Cortex-A720 cores at 3.2GHz, and two A520 cores running at 2.3GHz frequency. Handling the graphics is Adreno 750 GPU.

Xreal Air 2 Ultra announced with spatial tracking and titanium frame!

Xreal (formerly Nreal), a company known for its AR and Mixed reality glasses, recently unveiled its latest offering – Xreal Air 2 Ultra. And it brings a lot of cool features like 6 DoF (Degrees of Freedom), spatial and hand tracking, high-resolution screens, and a wider 52-degree field of view. In this article, let’s take a quick look at the Xreal Air 2 Ultra, its features, improvements, expected price in Nepal, and availability.

Xreal Air 2 Ultra Overview:

Spatial Tracking

One of the highlight features of the Air 2 Ultra is its 6 DOF and spatial tracking. Thanks to the 3D sensors on the front, the glasses can now scan your environment and project digital elements over the physical world. It can also read your hand movements and gestures to keep track of your interactions. And if you were confused about the degree of freedom (DoF) shenanigans, it simply means that you can not only move your head (side to side / up and down/ tilt) in a virtual space but also move around (left/right, forward/backward) in it.

This is in fact not Xreal’s first rodeo when it comes to 6 DoF, as its Nreal Light glasses, announced back in 2021, boast the same. So, in a way, the Air 2 Ultra is a successor to the revered Nreal Light.

Design and Display

Following the norm, the new Air 2 Ultra looks like a typical pair of sunglasses just like the Xreal Air 2 and Air 2 Pro. That’s if you don’t notice its pair of environmental sensors on the front. It’s also a bit heavy for a pair of sunglasses at 80 grams and around 10% heavier than the Air 2. But, the Air 2 Ultra features a titanium frame and looks sleeker and more stylish as well.

Talking about the display, the Air 2 Ultra sees a bit of an upgrade here. Now, you have a wider 52-degree field of view over the 46 degrees on previous models. It also functions a whole lot differently with the 6 DoF and spatial hand tracking we talked about earlier. Besides that though, Air 2 Ultra still has the same Sony Micro-OLED screens at 1080p resolution for each eye. It can reach 120Hz in terms of refresh rate and hits 500 nits of max brightness. They also have TUV Rheinland certification for color accuracy, eye comfort, low blue light, and zero flicker.

Watching content on the Air 2 Ultra should be very similar to looking at a 154-inch screen at a distance of 13 feet.

Other Features

Just like the Air 2 Pro, there is electrochromic dimming for improved immersion. With “Immersion Control”, you can opt between choosing to see the outside world (0%, 35%) or blocking it completely (100%). There are also directional speakers and dual microphones for audio.

One thing to note is that the Xreal Air 2 Ultra isn’t a standalone computer. It needs a separate computing unit to function to its fullest and you can connect the glasses to either Samsung’s S22 and S23 or the iPhone 15 series (via USB C) to use spatial computing. You can also use Nebula in Desktop or Mac to do the same but Xreal’s own Beam unit (computing unit for Air 2 and Air 2 Pro) only allows for 3 DoF. The company has, however, mentioned that it’ll be coming up with a custom computing unit for the Air 2 Ultra soon.

Xreal Air 2 Ultra Pricing and Availability

The glasses will be available starting March 2024. They cost USD 699 and aim to directly compete with the Meta Quest 3 ($499) and the upcoming Apple Vision Pro ($ 3,499). Although unlikely, if it makes it here, we expect the Xreal Air 2 Ultra price in Nepal to be around NPR 99,999.

AppleCare In Nepal Overview

Although AppleCare is supposed to span a wide range of Apple devices, it only covers Macs in Nepal (as of today). iPhones do come with a free one-year breakage insurance but you can’t purchase the Care or Care+ plan for them.

What is the AppleCare Protection Plan?

Starting off with the basics, AppleCare is an insurance policy that covers repairs or replacement of your Apple device (Apple Watch, HomePod, iPad including Apple Pencil, iPhone, Mac, and iPods) in the event of accidental damage or battery depletion. Moreover, there’s also the added benefit of getting priority access to Apple’s technical support.

What is insured in Apple Care & Apple Care+ Protection Plan?

The AppleCare Protection Plan offered for MacBooks provides a warranty extension of 2 years. This plan does not cover physical or liquid damage but does insure against manufacturing defects and software issues. You might have to pay a small fee though which I’ll talk about later.

Additionally, there is an AppleCare+ option, which not only extends the warranty but also covers physical damage. This plan doesn’t require the fee I talked about earlier. Instead, the minimum service charge is included in AppleCare+. Besides that, it doesn’t cover theft or loss of property.

While AppleCare+ is not directly available in Nepal, it can be purchased through a third party in the US or another foreign country. These services can still be fulfilled in Nepal though, even if the purchase is not made locally.

Honor X50 GT launched with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset!

Not long after the launch of the fabled Honor 90 GT and the Honor X50 Pro, the Chinese OEM has dropped another smartphone. This phone is an iteration of the X50 Pro and comes with an updated design and a few tweaks. Here in this article, we will discuss the Honor X50 GT, its specifications, its expected price in Nepal, and so on.

Honor X50 GT Overview

Design and Display

The Honor X50 GT follows a similar design pattern that the recent Honor smartphones have been following. As such, the phone comes with a large circular camera island on the back and boasts an IP53 rating. Meanwhile, the phone measures just 7.98 mm in thickness and weighs 192 grams. It is available in two finishes: Silver-winged Battle God, and Phantom Night Black. The Silver option has a yellow strip running through the middle of the phone.

On the front, we have a 6.78-inch AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. It has a 1.5K resolution spanning 1,200 x 2,652 pixels. Moreover, it supports a touch sampling rate of up to 1,200 Hz and a wide colour gamut of 100% DCI-P3. Other than that, it also offers a colour depth of 1.07 billion colours.

Performance

This smartphone packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 under the hood. It is an octa-core silicone built on a 4nm fabrication process. Moreover, this processor can achieve a peak frequency of 3.0 GHz. The Honor X50 GT is available in four configurations altogether i.e. 12GB + 256GB, 16GB + 256GB, 16GB + 512GB, and 16GB + 1TB.

The Honor X50 GT also comes with a 5,100 mm² vapour chamber to keep the phone’s thermal in check. Lastly, we are getting MagicOS 7.2 based on Android 13 on the software front.

In the optics department, this phone comes with only two cameras on the back. The primary camera here is a 108MP sensor and it is coupled with a 2MP sensor.
