Oppo A3x launched in Nepal with a military-grade shock-resistant build

Oppo is expanding its portfolio in Nepal and has launched the A3x smartphone. It is a cheaper variant of the Oppo A3, which also arrived in Nepal about a month ago. This article will discuss the Oppo A3x in further detail, including its price in Nepal.

Oppo A3x Overview

Design and Display

The Oppo A3x is almost the same as the titular phone, which is apparent straight away. These phones look virtually the same, barring the colour choices. It is available in Ocean Blue and Nebula Red colourings. The former comes with wavy patterns on the back, while the latter has a plain monotone finish. The Oppo A3x also offers the same toughness as the regular variant. That being said, it passed the MIL-STD-810H test and received a five-star rating from SGS for shock resistance. It is IP54-rated too, able to brush off liquid exposure like water splashes, and spillage of other drinks like tea, soup, and such as well.

Oppo A3x Build

For display, the Oppo A3x has a 6.67-inch LCD panel touted with twice-reinforced Panda glass. You get an HD+ resolution with a 90Hz refresh rate, a maximum touch sampling rate of 180Hz, and a peak brightness of 1,000 nits under the sunlight. Likewise, the screen has a pixel density of 264PPI, a colour depth of 16.7 million, and covers up to 83% NTSC colour gamut. Furthermore, the Oppo A3x supports the “Splash Touch” feature allowing undisturbed usage even with wet hands or screen.

Performance

Under the hood, the Oppo A3x packs the same chipset as the regular Oppo A3 i.e. Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 1. In fact, the Oppo A3 series is the first smartphone in the world to have this processor. Which would be great, if it was a new silicone. In reality, this chip is just a renamed Snapdragon 662, which launched in early 2020. Being a unit from quite some time ago, the internals on this thing are no better with 11nm fabrication and older cores. If we are to compare, this chipset falls in the same category as the Helio G80 or the UNISOC T616.

Oppo A3x Performance

The Oppo A3x is available in wider configurations in the international market than the regular offering. However, Nepal only gets the lowest two trims from all the available ones, seemingly to create enough separation from the regular Oppo A3. Given that, you get a single 4GB memory option here with an option to expand the RAM virtually. In contrast, you can choose between 64GB or 128GB as the ROM option. There is also a MicroSD card slot if you want to increase the storage space.

Camera and the rest

The major difference between the Oppo A3 and A3x lies in the optics department. While the former boasts a large 50MP shooter, the latter settles with a measly 8MP unit. The forward-facing camera on both phones is a 5MP snapper. In the meantime, the rear camera setup consists of a flicker sensor, which supposedly helps capture flicker-free shots. This comes especially in handy when taking pictures of things like a bulb, display, and ripples on a water body.

Oppo A3x Camera

In the tank, we get a 5,100 mAh battery with SUPERVOOC 2.0 charging support. The Oppo A3x supports up to 45W of charging, able to reach 50% charge in just 30 minutes. Additionally, the company claims that the battery retains 80% of the original capacity after four years of usage.

Samsung Galaxy S24, S24 Plus Overview:

Design and Display

Both Galaxy S24 and S24 Plus smartphones have a very small centered hole-punch with minimal uniform bezels. They have Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection, ultra-sonic under-display fingerprint readers, and an IP68 rating. But they do miss out on the Titanium body of the Ultra, instead opting for an aluminum frame (Armor Aluminium 2.0).

These devices look pretty similar to their predecessors but now sport a flat design just like modern iPhones. Galaxy S24 and S24 Plus are available in Onyx Black, Cobalt Violet, Amber Yellow, and Marble Grey color options. In addition to these, the Samsung website exclusives include Jade Green, Sapphire Blue, and Sandstone Orange colorways.

On the screen front, you are greeted with 6.2-inch and 6.7-inch flat AMOLED displays. The vanilla Galaxy S24 gets an FHD+ screen while the larger S24 Plus boasts a sharper QHD+ resolution. Both can reach an impressive 2600 nits (peak).

Exynos 2400 for Nepal

Although these devices will ship with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy in the US, South Korea, and China, the rest of the world including Nepal will get Exynos variants. Both Galaxys (S24 and S24+) will be powered by Samsung’s in-house Exynos 2400 processor. It is a deca-core chip with a powerful Cortex X4 core clocked at 3.2 GHz, 5 Cortex A720 cores, and 4 Cortex A520s. Samsung says that the 2400 has 1.7x the CPU performance, and 14.7x the AI processing over its predecessor (Exynos 2200).

Samsung Exynos 2400 Deca-Core CPU

Other than this, the vanilla Galaxy S24 has 8GB of RAM paired with 128GB of storage (up to 256GB). Whereas the Plus variant’s base model enjoys 12GB RAM and 256GB storage (up to 512GB).

Camera and AI

Moving on, both the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24 + feature triple cameras on their backs.  Led by a 50MP main with OIS, the setup includes a 12MP ultrawide alongside a 3x telephoto (10MP, OIS). On the front, these two feature a 12MP f/2.2 selfie shooter.

Although the camera hardware might not look mighty impressive, Samsung has loaded the S24 series with a lot of useful AI features under the ‘Galaxy AI’ umbrella. For starters, the “ProVisual Engine” brings clearer, less noisy Night photography into the play. Its ‘Circle-to-Search’ feature, similar to Google Lens,  identifies objects within images and returns search results. There’s also ‘Generative Edit’ which can remove elements, move objects, or paint out entire backgrounds. Besides those, there are also features like ‘Instant Slow-Mo’, ‘Live Translation’, ‘Transcript Assist’, and ‘Chat Assist’.

Battery and Charging

Under the hood, the smaller S24 and S24 Plus feature 4000mAh and 4900mAh batteries respectively. This is a nice upgrade from the 3900mAh cell on the Galaxy S23 and the 4700mAh unit on the Galaxy S23+.

Samsung Galaxy S24 and S24+ specifications

Both phones have 15W wireless and 4.5W reverse wireless charging. But while the Galaxy S24 Plus enjoys 45W wired charging (0 to 65% in 30 minutes), the base S24 is limited to 25W (0 to 50% in 30 minutes).

On the software front, both the Samsung Galaxy 24 phones ship with OneUI 6.1 based on the latest Android 14. Moreover, it appears the company will be offering 7 years of OS updates up to Android 21.

This upcoming Apple home accessory will come with Apple Intelligence

Apple HomePod is one of the most popular smart speakers that can perform a plethora of tasks through voice commands. It appears the multi-trillion dollar company is working on a similar kind of device, which could very well be Apple HomePod (3rd generation). Let’s discuss all that we know about the home accessory device Apple is seemingly working on.

Apple Home Accessory Device Rumour Round-Up

A little context…

Though you can ask the Apple HomePod to do a lot of things, it is just a speaker at the core, — and it looks like one too. However, there are other similar offerings in the market, that have a full-fledged display offering users wider usage with it. Given that, Apple seems to be brewing a similar home accessory product of its own.

Apple HomePod (2nd Gen) Design

What do we know so far?

Sources have found that Apple has been working on a new smart home accessory under the codename J490. The A18 chip will apparently power this device — it’s the same gravy that powers the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus! This is probably so that the upcoming device can utilise Apple Intelligence to assist with users’ complex requests.

Apple Intelligence

Furthermore, the upcoming Apple home accessory will be equipped with a touch display. As per sources, the screen is squarish in shape, unlike that of an iPad. Moreover, the device will likely run on tvOS like the Apple TV. This rumour stems from the fact that 9to5Mac uncovered a few touchscreen-ready lock screens in the tvOS beta. In the meantime, the Apple J490 also has a camera that lets you FaceTime friends as well as identify hand gestures.

Apple Home Accessory Device Launch and Availability

Apple is supposedly targeting to launch this new product in the spring of 2025. However, there is no concrete evidence or statement in support of this claim. There is no confirmation on whether the product will arrive as the Apple HomePod (3rd Generation) or something entirely new. In fact, this product might not even see the daylight, similar to how we have been hearing about foldable iPhones and iPads for years now. The same is the case for Apple Car.

All in all, we just want to let you know that Apple is working on a smart home accessory device with a screen and A18 chip, which may or may not launch formally.

A few weeks ago, Xiaomi launched a 10,000 mAh power bank capable of dishing out a whopping 165W of combined charging speed. Now the Chinese tech giant is one-upping itself and launching an even larger… even faster power bank. Let’s discuss more on the Xiaomi Power Bank 25000 212W in further detail, and try to put a number on what its price in Nepal might be.

Xiaomi Power Bank 25000 212W Overview

Design

This behemoth of a power bank continues to have a slender build despite packing such a large capacity battery inside. What sets it apart from the rest of the offerings in the market is its look on the front. It has a transparent finish, proudly flaunting the circuitry inside. Moreover, this gives the power bank a fresh and unique look. It does not have a built-in USB-C cord like Xiaomi’s usual offerings. Instead, it is equipped with two USB-C and one USB-A port.

Xiaomi Power Bank 25000 212W Design

The Xiaomi Power Bank 25000 212W also comes with a colour screen, similar to its previously launched 10000 165W sibling. It displays the battery percentage on green or yellow depending on whether it’s charging or discharging. Additionally, you can also see the battery capacity remaining, charging time, charging speed, and the charging protocol being utilised.

Battery and Charging

Just as its name suggests, the Xiaomi Power Bank 25000 212W is a 25,000mAh unit. It consists of five 5,000 mAh cells and has a total rated capacity of just 14,000 mAh (5V/6A). If you are wondering if it is aeroplane-legal then, the good news is — it is! The typical energy on this thing is 90.8Wh, easily complying with the international aviation standard of 100Wh.

Xiaomi Power Bank 25000 212W Use

The charging capability of this power bank is definitely its key highlight. It can output a combined speed of 212W — 65W from USB-C1, 27W from USB-C2, and 120W from USB-A. When used individually, the USB-C port can push out even faster speeds at 140W and 45W respectively. Not only does it charge other devices rapidly, but it can also fill itself up in a similar fashion, supporting up to 100W of intake. That being said, Xiaomi has set up a temperature monitor as well as a control management chip in the Power Bank 25000 212W to avoid overheating, electricity leakage, and such.

Xiaomi Power Bank 25000 212W Specifications

  • Design: Slender build with a transparent finish on the front
  • Capacity (Typical): 25,000 mAh (5x 5,000 mAh cells), 90.80Wh

The upcoming Galaxy Flip phone might have a display with built-in speaker!

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 may soon introduce a new feature allowing users to answer calls while the device is closed. Currently, users can only answer calls using the loudspeaker, which does not provide privacy. Samsung is reportedly working with LG on a solution to enhance call functionality. In this article, we will discuss more about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7, including its release date and specifications.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 Rumors Roundup

New kinds of speakers

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 cover display

This new technology involves embedding a piezoelectric speaker into the cover display. Piezoelectric technology works by converting electrical energy into mechanical energy, which allows the display to vibrate and produce sound. This integration allows users to place their ear directly on the cover display, enabling private call answering without opening the phone. Additionally, this design helps save space by eliminating the need for a dedicated ear speaker, which typically occupies valuable space in foldable smartphones.

Performance

Snapdragon 8 Elite - Xiaomi Teaser

In addition to the new speaker technology, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 is expected to feature the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen Elite chipset. This chipset has already been confirmed for the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, meaning the foldable are so likely to feature them.

Display and Battery

Just like its previous iteration, we expect the upcoming Flip 7 to feature a similar Dynamic LTPO main display with sAMOLED display as well. Meanwhile, rumors are calling for increased battery life as well.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 Launch Date

Well, the Flip 6 was only launched back in July, we’d have to wait for almost a year for this major change in the upcoming foldable. Stay tuned! As we will bring you all the pieces of information, rumors, and leaks regarding the upcoming Flip 6.

It can also keep a record of those metrics throughout the day along with the kind of sleep you are having.

Ultima Prime 1.0 launched with in-house “Ultima Link” app support!

Ultima offers affordable qualitative products while also focusing highly on user experience. They have taken another leap in the latter regard and become the first Nepali brand to have an in-house app for wearable audio devices. That being said, Ultima has launched “Prime 1.0” with proprietary app support! Let’s discuss further on these earbuds along with the Ultima Link app in this article.

Ultima Prime 1.0 Overview

Ultima Link

One of the main highlights of the Ultima Prime 1.0 is that it comes with a companion app, named the “Ultima Link”. While having such an app isn’t unheard of, this is the first time a Nepali company has offered such a feature. This effectively makes Ultima Prime 1.0 the first-ever Nepali earbuds with in-house app support. And in a true Nepali fashion, Ultima Link offers Nepali as a language option alongside English.

Ultima Link

Apart from that, the Ultima Link offers a handful of pro features — the major one being audio customisation. You get two preset EQ modes — Signature and Balanced. On top of that, you can tailor and add more sound profiles which suit your taste better. You can also customise the earbuds’ touch control and tap into the “Game Mode” through the app. When in this mode, the latency on the Ultima Prime 1.0 drops as low as 40ms. Then there is the “Find my device” feature which will trigger a loud sound for you to locate your earbud if you ever misplace it. Lastly, customers can also seek the brand’s support easily through the app!

With this, Ultima Link adds more premium features to Prime 1.0 earbuds and opens the way for the brand’s future audio accessories to do the same as well.

Design and Audio

Now talking of the earbuds, Ultima Prime 1.0 comes in an in-ear fitting with a dual-tone finish. The front of the earbuds’ stem has a reflective layering while the rest of the body has a glossy finish. This aesthetic carries on to the charging case too with a shiny chrome design on the lid and the standard shade on the rest of the body. This gives the Ultima Prime 1.0 a slight resemblance to the Xiaomi Buds 5 on the outside. Other than that, these buds are IPX5-rated offering good resistance to sweat and water splashes. They ship in two colour options: Space Black and Star Gold.

Ultima Prime 1.0 Design

Moving on to the audio, the Ultima Prime 1.0 is equipped with 13mm titanium drivers for audio delivery. In addition, these buds have two microphones on top of the main receiver dedicated just to noise cancellation. As such, these earbuds have a six-mic setup offering both active as well as environmental noise cancellation. Users can enjoy up to 30dB of unwanted sound negation along with Transparency and Adaptive modes.

Connectivity and Battery

These earbuds come with Bluetooth v5.4, offering a stable connection with your smartphones and computers. Furthermore, they are capable of the “Dual Pairing” feature allowing you to connect the Ultima Prime 1.0 to two devices simultaneously. They are compatible with both Android and iOS platforms.

Ultima Prime 1.0 Dual Pairing

In terms of battery life, the Ultima Prime 1.0 is one of the best in the industry — offering up to 60 hours of combined playtime. Likewise, the charging on this thing is rapid too supporting BOOST Charge, which can translate a measly 10 minutes of charge time into two hours of usage.
