After multiple rumors and leaks, the Google Pixel 8a has finally gone official. This new midrange offering arrives with a 120Hz OLED display, Tensor G3 chipset, dual camera setup, and more. Without further ado, let’s head into the specs, features, and expected price of Google Pixel 8a in Nepal.

Rounded Corners Design

Pixel 8a has finally strayed from the boxy design of its predecessor and adopted a curvier body with rounded corners just like its more expensive siblings. The back features the iconic camera visor alongside a Google logo in the center. You also get IP67 ingress protection. In terms of color options, Google has provided some fun colors this time: Aloe (Limited Edition), Bay, Obsidian, and Porcelain.

As for the screen, it is a 6.1-inch FHD+ OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, the first time ever on an “A” series Pixel phone. Tensor G3

The Pixel 8a is powered by the 4nm Tensor G3 chipset. This 4nm fabbed 9-core SoC boasts a prime Cortex-X3 core at 2910 MHz, four Cortex-A715 cores at 2370 MHz, and four Cortex-A510 cores at 1700 MHz. The upcoming Pixel 8a continues providing a dual camera setup. The primary camera is a 64MP Samsung jN2 sensor, complimented by a 13MP ultrawide lens.     Design

    The South Korean company has taken a unique approach to the design of its power banks. They do come in a cuboid shape, however, their edges are not uniform. While all the edges have a curved finish to it, the top edges have a flat end to it. This subtle tweak aesthetically sets the Samsung Power Bank apart from other power banks.

    The 20,000 mAh Samsung Power Bank can charge three devices simultaneously via its USB Type-C ports. The highlighting feature on this power bank is Super Fast Charging 2.0 support. This is to say, this battery pack comes with Samsung’s proprietary 45W charging technology. However, the charging speed only hits 45W when only a single device is plugged in. Other than that, it also supports the PD 3.0 charging protocol.

    Similarly, the 10,000 mAh Samsung Power Bank also charges three devices at once, however, it only has two USB Type-C ports. Hence, for the third device, it offers wireless charging instead! The circular bump in the middle of this power bank that I mentioned earlier is a wireless charging unit. Meanwhile, the solitary charging speed on this power bank is 25W, but when using all three interfaces the output is capped at 7.5W each.

      Honor Magic V2 review: It’s thinner, but is it any better?

      I’ve been using the iPhone 15 Pro Max for more than six to seven months now and I am been really satisfied with it. But for almost 2 weeks now, I have switched to the Honor Magic V2, which is Honor’s latest foldable phone. To tell you the truth, I’m not really into using foldable phones much and have never been a fan, because of three main reasons – first, they are too bulky, second – the battery life of foldable in general is not that great, and the third reason is that the cameras aren’t as good as flagship phones.

      But there’s something in this phone that has caught my attention. In this review of the Honor Magic V2, I will be sharing all of my experience with this foldable phone. But before getting any further let’s have a quick rundown of its specifications.

      To get started,  the Honor Magic V2 has completely changed my perspective on foldable! Firstly, you don’t even notice its thickness. It’s so thin that it looks like a normal phone. When I compare it to my iPhone 15 Pro Max or the S24 ultra, it doesn’t feel bulky at all. In fact, the thickness is almost the same!

      And even when you use its folded display, it operates just like using a normal phone.  You can easily operate it with one hand, without any stress, which is a big plus for a foldable.

      As you can see, there’s hardly any gap in the hinge, and once you open it, you get this large 8-inch main display, which also boasts a 120Hz LTPO panel similar to the cover display. It supports Dolby Vision HDR and is very bright as well. Moreover, It features a 6.43-inch w LTPO panel when folded with excellent brightness, viewing angles, and minimal bezels.

      If I were to nitpick, the crease is slightly visible, especially when scrolling in the crease area. My second complaint is that, unlike Samsung’s Fold series, it lacks IPX8 water resistance. However, apart from that, the thin and lightweight design engineering of this device is commendable.

      Plus, Its hinge is incredibly strong, allowing you to keep it at various angles. Also, it’s satisfying to fold and unfold with a reassuring snap sound. Moreover, I found this blue color variant really classy. The camera module on the back looks clean, it doesn’t appear bulky at all! If you’re a business user, you’ll appreciate its elegance.

      Battery

      Actually, the main reason this phone is so thin is because it uses a Silicon Carbon battery instead of a traditional Lithium-ion battery. The energy density of Silicon Carbon batteries is much higher, allowing Honor to include a large 5000mAh battery in a small surface area. This makes it the thinnest foldable available in the market today.

      As for battery life, it’s really impressive. I managed to get around 7 hours of screen-on time, which is only slightly less than what I get with my iPhone 15 Pro Max. Additionally, the 66W charger that comes in the box charges the phone quickly, typically within 45 minutes. So, in terms of battery performance, I’m pleasantly surprised.

      Performance and UI

      When it comes to the core specs of the phone, it features a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. Now, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset is from last year, so it’s not the fastest available. However, everything still runs super smoothly here.

      Honor’s UI is extremely fluid and surprisingly optimized for foldables. Transitioning to it is seamless and there aren’t any noticeable performance issues.

      I really enjoy using the large main screen to run multiple windows side by side and eve have an additional app in a floating window. It’s incredibly convenient and makes multitasking effortless. 

      Moreover, Honor includes a back cover in the box that doubles as a stand, allowing you to prop it up on a table and use it comfortably. Whether it’s watching movies on the large screen or playing games like Clash Royale, there are so many benefits to having a foldable device like this.

      UI/OS

      • Software: Android 13-based Magic UI 7

      One thing Honor seriously needs to improve is its software updates! Not just this phone, but almost all Honor phones are still running on Android 13. However, the upcoming Honor Magic 6 Pro is poised to debut with Android 14 onboard, indicating an imminent release of the latest Android version. Honor has revealed that the smartphone is scheduled to launch in June.

      Another thing I’ve noticed is that this phone tends to heat up slightly, especially during gaming sessions or when using mobile data extensively.

      Camera

      Anyway, another aspect of the Honor V2 that I really enjoyed is its camera! It takes excellent photos from the main camera. The details are crisp, and the colors are vibrant. Even the ultra-wide camera performs well. While it may not be at flagship level, it’s close enough.

      And when it comes to taking portraits and selfies with the 2.5X zoom, this phone does a great job of capturing accurate skin tones. In good lighting conditions, you’ll get awesome photos.

      However, one area where it falls a bit short is in video quality. While it’s better than midrange phones, it doesn’t quite match up to flagship phones. Especially in terms of stabilization and HDR, there’s some room for improvement in the videos taken with the Honor Magic V2.

      Honor Magic V2 Review: Conclusion

      So, if we overlook the minor issues, this is easily the best foldable available in Nepal right now. However, I also like the OnePlus Open. I think the software experience of OnePlus, especially the “OnePlus Canvas” multitasking feature, is the best thing on a foldable. But after using the Honor, the OnePlus Open feels quite bulky.

      So, if you’re considering switching from a regular phone to a foldable one, I think the Honor Magic V2 is going to be easy to adapt to. However, it’s not wallet-friendly, as it’s quite expensive at Rs. 2.40 lakhs! But, there’s a unique charm to foldable that makes them worth the investment.

      inDrive, the popular ride-hailing service has now officially arrived in Nepal. Although its service has been live for a few years in the Kathmandu valley, the Russian company has now formalized its services by officially registering as a company in Nepal. In this article, let’s get into the info and news surrounding inDrive’s official availability in Nepal.

      inDrive’s official launch event happened today at Mariott Hotel, Nagpokhari Kathmandu with the presence of inDrive officials, IME Pay officials, and media persons. The brief program included some key points which we are gonna discuss below.

      10% service charge from drivers

      inDrive inherently rose to fame due to the 0% commission policy for drivers and fare bargaining features for passengers. The latter one is thankfully staying while the former is getting some changes. Now, the company will charge 10% of the service charge (commission) from the drivers for each ride made.

      inDrive Nepal

      For example, a ride costing 200 rupees will incur a 20 rupees service charge to inDrive, from the driver’s side. inDrive also mentioned, that the 10% charge is inclusive of all the taxes and drivers do not have to pay extra.

      Insurance is coming soon

      One of the major concerning factors while using inDrive is the lack of insurance policies for both drivers and passengers. Multiple fatal incidents have happened in recent times with casualties, having to bear the loss of lives and expensive medical treatments. Finally, this ride-hailing app will bring an insurance facility. As per the officials, paperwork is going in the background and it will go live very soon.

      Expansion to other areas

      inDrive will not be limited to Kathmandu Valley only. It will expand to Pokhara and Bharatpur in the near future with more areas in the plan. There is no official roadmap as to when it will be available in the aforementioned areas though.

      Cargo services too?

      As we all know, inDrive also does courier services around the valley. Well, the company is now also seeking to introduce cargo services to deliver goods from in and out of the country. The date of commencement of cargo services is still under the curtain. And time will unfold it in the coming days.

      IME Pay as the official payment partner

      This rapidly growing ride-hailing service has now partnered up with one of the leading digital wallets in the country, IME Pay. If you peek through the homepage of the IME Pay app, you should notice the inDrive payments option. It’s already been here for a few days as long as I have noticed. But turns out, that this feature is now only available for drivers in order to settle their accounts.

      An integrated feature for passengers is still yet to arrive. After all, you can easily use any wallet to pay the drivers as most of them accept digital payments anyway. But as far as I hope, inDrive and IME Pay collab might bring some exclusive offers, cashback, and points in the future.

      inDrive, previously known as inDriver was originally founded by a group of Russian students back in 2012, in one of the coldest places on earth, Yakutsk. Available in over 700 cities in 47 countries, inDrive is one of the fastest-growing ride-sharing platforms.

      Motorola has been aggressively pumping out smartphones in the affordable price range — particularly in its G-series. Last month, it launched the Moto G64 5G as the first phone with the Dimensity 7025 chipset. Now, the company is ready to launch another entry in the G-series. In this article, we will discuss everything we know about the upcoming Moto G85 5G in further detail.

      The soon-to-launch Moto G85 5G is the successor to the Moto G84 5G that went live sometime around September 2023. The phone made its cameo via a retailer’s website in Europe. The listing has barely any information besides the memory + storage combo and the pricing.

      Let’s start by stating the obvious, the Moto G85 5G will come with 12GB RAM coupled with 256GB storage. This combination is the same as the one we saw in its predecessor. This begs the question…

      Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 5G SoC

      What about the processor? The Moto G84 5G had the Snapdragon 695 chipset under its helm. So, will we see the same thing this time around as well? That’s a likely possibility. However, if we do see a processor upgrade on the Moto G85 5G, it might opt for something like the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 or the recently launched Dimensity 6300.

      The rest

      Now, we don’t have any other information on the phone. So, we will just do some speculations. Starting with the design, the Moto G85 5G will have IP54 water resistance, which has been a standard across the company’s recent offerings. Last time, we saw a leather back on the phone, so we expect the same this time around as well. The phone will likely not see any changes on the front either. Given that, it will sport the same 6.55-inch 10-bit screen with a pOLED panel and 120Hz refresh rate.

      Similarly, we don’t see a chance that Moto changes anything else on the G85 5G. As such, it will come with the same 50MP primary camera and an 8MP ultrawide shooter on the back. Meanwhile, the front camera will have a 16MP unit. In the tank, it will pack the standard 5,000 mAh battery and support 33W wired fast charging.

      The phone made its cameo on a retail site in Europe, suggesting that the phone has already arrived with the retailer. This means the phone will soon its way to the market officially.

      In the meantime, it was listed with a price tag of EUR 300 — the same as the initial pricing of the Moto G84 5G. Based on this rumour, we are expecting the Moto G85 5G price in Nepal to be around NPR 51,999.
