As the name suggests, DJI FPV is a first person view drone that is also available in Nepal. So let’s go through the specs, features, availability, and official price of the DJI FPV Drone in Nepal.

DJI FPV Overview:

Design, Build

In a bid to deliver an immersive FPV experience, DJI has sacrificed the portability of this machine. Unlike other drones from the company, you can’t fold the FPV into something smaller. The propellers are removable though.

Here, the DJI FPV weighs 795 grams including the propellers with a diagonal distance of 245mm. The company also says this design is aerodynamic and wind-resistant. Its landing legs are also equipped with customizable LEDs.

DJI FPV Goggles V2

Moving on, the actual “FPV” promise of this drone is fulfilled by the DJI FPV Goggles V2. Looks like something pulled straight out of the Blade Runner universe. Anyway, these goggles alone retail for $569 which adds up to the entire combo costing $1299.

Unlike other FPV drones, DJI is using digital signal for data transmission between the two devices—specifically to facilitate long-distance transmission. Yet, digital signals are traditionally slower than analog signals found in other FPV drones. To solve this problem to the best of its extent, this drone uses DJI’s O3 (OcuSync 3.0) technology.

Long-distance transmission

With this, DJI is promising up to 10km of transmission range while the actual latency varies between different modes. Under the high-quality mode with 1440×810p videos, the latency is around 40ms. You can shoot either 60fps footage at 142º Field Of View (FOV) or 50fps videos at 150º FOV. For even reduced latency, you’d want to switch on the low-latency mode where the delay is as low as 28ms.

But this mode shoots slow-mo videos at either 100/120fps at 150º or 142º FOV respectively. The DJI FPV Goggles V2 is equipped with a 1800mAh battery with a rated backup of around 110 minutes. You can also connect up to 8 goggles together through which others can enjoy the drone pilot’s view too. For literal smooth sailing, the DJI FPV drone uses anti-interference technology and high-gain antennas. Plus, it also uses dual-frequency transmission (2.4/5.8GHz) with a bitrate of up to 50Mbps.

But the company suggests you use the 2.4GHz band most of the time since the other frequency band isn’t available in most regions of the world. In case there’s a signal loss between the two complementary devices, the DJI FPV has been programmed to automatically enable fail-safe RTH (Return To Home) mode. Its ADS-B (Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast) technology scans and receives flight location information from air units that transmit ADS-B signals so that you can avoid a possible collision.

DJI FPV Remote Controller 2

To control the drone’s motion, this drone is bundled with DJI FPV Remote Controller 2 (Mode 2). Retailing for $199, this is a conventional-style controller. At 346 grams, it houses a battery with approximately 9 hours of endurance inside.

Oh, by the way, the battery in all components comes with this intelligent feature where they automatically drain the charge after a couple of days in order to expand the effective battery charge cycle. Regardless, syncing the controller and the drone lets you enjoy your actions reciprocated with a minimal delay of 7ms.

DJI FPV Motion Controller

Now, if you want something funky to go with this FPV-capable drone, DJI is also introducing an optional motion controller. It requires a single hand to operate and lets you maneuver the drone with your hand’s movement. There’s a trigger button on the front for acceleration while a dedicated button on the top facilitates take-off and landing. DJI FPV’s fixed camera is controlled with the point controller mechanism where a central circle in the goggle’s console acts as the point of reference for flight controls.

And just like on the regular remote controller, the motion controller also comes with a button for emergency brake and hover. With a single press of the button, you can (almost instantaneously) stop the drone while it hovers stably. This is an incredibly useful feature to prevent any gnarly accident against any and all surfaces.

Flight modes

Here, the DJI FPV comes with 3 different flight modes intended for different levels of users. Whether you’re a beginner or an enthusiast, the company wants you to embrace the fun of FPV drones. Starting off, the N (Normal) Mode is targeted at new users. It is restricted to traditional drone flight controls while embedding different safety-oriented features like obstacle sensing. Then there’s the S (Sport) Mode that combines manual control with a simplified control mechanism.

And for the absolute pros, DJI lets you unlock the true potentials of this drone under the M (Manual) Mode. Unless you fit into the target demographics, you might one to steer clear of this one since all sensors and hovering features are effectively disabled here. While it’s typically not a racing drone, the DJI FPV could very well pass as one since it can hit up to 140 kph under M Mode. Impressively, takes just 2 seconds to go from 0-100 kph.

Camera

The DJI FPV uses a 12MP 1/2.3” CMOS image sensor. It’s a 3mm format equivalent lens with an f/2.8 aperture. You can shoot 4K photos and videos here at a max video bitrate of 120 Mbps.

Its single-axis (tilt) gimbal uses RockSteady EIS technology for stabilized recordings. In terms of resolution, 4K footages can be shot at either 50/60fps while you can shoot FHD 1080p videos at 50/60/100/120fps.

Realme Buds Air 5 and 5 Pro have launched alongside the Realme 11 series in India today. They offer strong Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), LDAC support, and spatial audio. Let’s dive right into the Realme Buds Air 5 and 5 Pro and their specs, features, availability, and expected price in Nepal.

Realme Buds Air 5 and 5 Pro Overview:

Design

Like the Realme Buds Air 3, these are also in-ear earbuds with a cylindrical stem and silicon ear tips. Both Buds Air 5 and Air 5 Pro are rated IPX5 water-resistant against water splashes. The vanilla Buds Air 5 is available in Deep Sea Blue and Artic White color options while the Air 5 Pro comes in Sunrise Beige and Astral Black. But do note that its case isn’t IP-certified in any way.

Audio and ANC

For even better audio quality, you can perform a hearing test inside the “Realme Link” app. According to the company, this can compensate for hearing loss and audio leakage to deliver richer sound overall. These earbuds pair with your devices via Bluetooth 5.3 and even support dual-device connection. There’s also a dedicated gaming mode, which can bring down latency to just 45ms on the Air 5 and 40ms on the Air 5 Pro leading to a better gaming experience.

Realme Buds Air 5 and 5 Pro bring a significant upgrade in terms of ANC as well. They can drown out up to 50dB of noise (versus 42dB on Buds Air 3). These earbuds also support 4000Hz ultra-wideband noise reduction, along with Realme’s “Deep Sea Noise Reduction 2.0” technology for clearer calls. This makes use of the microphones in each bud to capture ambient sounds.

Battery

In terms of battery, Realme Buds Air 5 is rated for 7 hours with ANC off while the 5 Pro will last you about 11 hours of music playback (ANC off). With the charging chase, the battery life extends to 38 hours on the Air 5 and 40 hours on the Air 5 Pro.

Anker’s latest addition to the Soundcore earbud lineup is the Liberty 4. These wireless earphones were released last year, and they are finally here in Nepal as well. This set of earbuds comes equipped with the ability to monitor your heart rate. Hence, let’s quickly go over what the Soundcore Liberty 4 brings to the table for Nepali consumers.

Design

Anker’s latest addition to the Soundcore Liberty lineup, the Liberty 4, showcases a stem design that sets it apart from most of its predecessors. Further, this upgrade works well with sensors for squeeze control. What is squeeze control, you may ask? It is a feature similar to the pinch control found in the Nothing Ear series.

The Liberty 4 offers varying battery life based on usage and features. It promises up to 9 hours of playback on a full charge during normal use. In spatial audio mode, battery life drops to 5 hours, while LDAC mode without noise cancellation offers 6 hours.

With only ANC turned on, the earbuds can last up to 7 hours on a single charge. The charging case adds extra hours and can be charged quickly. Under typical conditions, the Liberty 4 boasts up to 28 hours of usage before requiring a recharge.

While Google has always taken an active role in promoting RCS and setting forth guidelines and standards for its implementation, Apple has been unwilling to embrace RCS protocol. Nonetheless, now, a third-party application known as Beeper has permitted iPhone users to access RCS’s features. This article will cover information about RCS, Beeper, and how Apple has introduced RCS through Beeper in its platform.

Apple’s step towards RCS

RCS, What?

RCS, Rich Communication Services, is a messaging protocol designed to enhance and modernize SMS (Short Messaging Service) messaging by adding features like read receipts, message bubbles as typing indicators, high-resolution media sharing, and more. Android smartphones, including those from Google, have been using this for a while now. It’s often seen as an alternative to messaging apps like iMessage, WhatsApp, and Facebook Messenger.

Apple has traditionally used its proprietary iMessage platform for messaging between Apple devices which has many features similar to RCS but lacks cross-platform compatibility with Android.

Beeper’s new update

Beeper is an application that brings together various messaging services into one platform. This means you can use different messaging apps like WhatsApp, iMessage, Telegram, and more, all within the Beeper app.

It brings together all messaging apps, simplifying communication for users across different platforms. Additionally, Beeper has found a way to enable iPhone users to use RCS messaging by adding support for Google Message, which was previously not directly available on iPhones.

For Apple users, they can use RCS’s service by getting the latest Beeper Desktop version and then turning on the feature in the settings. But there are a couple of drawbacks with Beeper. First, there’s a waiting list to join the application, so new users might need the patience to start using the Beeper app.

Another concern is that the RCS integration is currently being tested within Beeper. Thus, issues might arise related to profile pictures, chat history, and determining if your messages were read in group chats.

Also, when using Beeper to access RCS messaging on platforms like Apple devices, there is a question of whether users are comfortable with the idea of routing their messages through a third-party app (Beeper) in order to gain the convenience of RCS features. Tecno Phantom V Fold is now coming to Nepal. Here’s all you need to know.

A few months ago, Tecno joined the foldable trend with the launch of its Phantom V Fold which is finally making its way here. Here we will walk through the detailed specs, features, availability, and expected price of the Tecno Phantom V Fold in Nepal.

Tecno Phantom V Fold Overview:

For starters, the Phantom lineup is home to Tecno’s flagship smartphones. Its recent release, the Tecno Phantom X2 Pro, featured a retractable portrait lens, a first for any smartphone. Now, the Phantom series is home to the company’s first foldable device.

Design, Display

The V Fold is a large slab with a 7.8-inch inner display. This is a 2K LTPO AMOLED panel with a variable refresh rate of 10 to 120Hz, 1100 nits of peak brightness, and 10-bit color depth. The cover screen is 6.4-inch AMOLED with Full HD resolution and most importantly, a pretty conventional aspect ratio of 21:9.

This gives Tecno’s foldable a much more practical form factor as opposed to Samsung’s candy-bar-shaped form. The outer display also has a 120Hz refresh rate.

Moreover, the phone folds completely flat with no crease in the center. The hinge is made of aerospace-grade material and is designed to withstand more than 200,000 folds. Not the best on the market, as Oppo promises over 400,000 folds in Find N2. Even so, it is comparable to the Galaxy Z Fold 4, which also promises over 200,000 folds. The smartphone is available in Black and White color options both of which offer a leather finish.

Performance

In charge of things inside is a Dimensity 9000+, making it the first foldable to use SoC from MediaTek. It’s a 4 nm-based mobile silicon with one high-performance Cortex-X2 (3.2GHz), three performance Cortex-A710 (2.85GHz), and four efficiency Cortex-A510 (1.80GHz) cores. Handling the graphics is a Mali G710 MC10 GPU.

Memory-wise, it has a single 12GB LPDDR5X RAM option paired with 256GB or 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. And it runs HiOS 13 Fold, which is Tecno’s take on software specifically designed for foldable devices. According to the brand, the new OS has over 2000 apps that have been optimized for the large screen.

Cameras

Moving on to the cameras, the circular module on the back houses a 50MP, 1/1.3-inch main sensor with an f/1.9 aperture, a second 50MP, f/2.0 telephoto lens with 2X optical zoom, and a 13MP ultrawide lens. For selfies, the cover screen has a 32MP lens and the inner screen has a 16MP sensor. Like any other foldable, you can take selfies with the rear camera as well.

Others

Moving on, the foldable gets its juice from a 5000mAh battery that supports 45W charging. The smartphone can go from 0-40% in just 15 minutes and can be fully charged in 55 minutes, says Tecno. There is a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for biometrics. In addition, the phone has dual stereo speakers for audio.

Samsung is developing 1-inch image sensor of its own

Samsung is making big progress in the smartphone industry, especially with cameras. After showing off its first 200MP camera sensor last year, the tech giant is getting ready to introduce four more new camera sensors that offer a range of high-resolution choices: a 50MP GN6 (1-inch type), a 200MP HP7, an unnamed 320MP, and a 440MP HU1 sensors. Let’s take a closer look at what these sensors bring to the table!

Future Samsung ISOCELL Image Sensors Rumors:

Leaked information from Revegnus on X has shown what Samsung is planning for its camera sensors that change the way how we perceive images. However, only time will tell whether these sensors will bring enhancements to photography and beyond.

50MP Camera Sensor

Among these sensors, the ISOCELL 50MP GN6 is quite interesting. It’s a 1-inch camera with larger 1.6µm pixels. If this turns out to be true, this 50MP GN6 could become Samsung’s largest and initial 1-inch camera sensor, giving competition to Sony’s IMX989 sensor that debuted on the Xiaomi 12S Ultra. However, it might be too costly to develop for just Galaxy devices, so Samsung might license it to other brands as well

440MP Camera Sensor

Before, the company had planned to make a 600MP camera sensor to surpass 576MP that a human eye can perceive by 2025. So, the rumored 440MP sensor might be a step toward that plan. However, this time, it’s uncertain whether this sensor is meant for phones or for cars with driving assistance features, as Samsung’s camera sensors serve both mobile devices and advanced cars with driving aids.

It is rumored to have slightly larger pixels and a bit better image quality compared to the existing 200MP HP2 sensor found in the Galaxy S23 Ultra. Unfortunately, similar to the 1-inch sensor, manufacturing costs have proven too difficult for Samsung to include in their own smartphones.

Availability

Despite Samsung’s development, rumors suggest that these sensors might not find utilization in Samsung’s own devices. Instead, they could be intended for external manufacturers and potentially other industries. Samsung is preparing for widespread production of four new camera sensors by the latter part of 2024.

After more than 3 years of absence because of the whole US-Huawei saga, Honor is finally back — now as an independent brand. Okay, the first thing I really liked about the Honor 90 is how it looks and feels in the hands. It’s actually giving me Huawei’s “Nova series vibes” with subtle curves all around, a bold, circular camera ring, and a slim and lightweight build quality.

And despite its sleek design, Honor has also managed to fit in a big 5000mAh battery inside, which is quite remarkable. I have it in this “Peacock Blue” colorway with a nice brushed matte finish, whereas you also get a bunch of other choices as well.

Thanks to its ergonomic design and terrific grip, I decided not to wrap it up with a clear case that Honor provides in the box. Unfortunately, that decision came to bite me back because I happened to accidentally drop it once, and… just look at this.

Maybe some kind of toughened glass would’ve prevented this, but since Honor 90 doesn’t have Gorilla Glass protection at all, I will definitely suggest you case it up, even though that takes away the remarkable hands-on feel of the phone.

Anyway, Honor 90’s display is equally impressive. And maybe one of the best things about it. In fact, it has received the “DXOMark Gold” certificate while tying with iPhone 14 Plus in DXOMark’s ranking of best smartphone displays.

So yes, I’ve been absolutely loving the almost… flagship-grade display experience on the Honor 90, which is honestly better than something like the Galaxy A54 or the OnePlus Nord 3.

Just listen to some of its specs, and you should be convinced. From a 1.5K resolution to a 120Hz refresh rate, 10-bit colors, 1,600 nits of peak brightness, and HDR10+ certification, this 6.7” AMOLED screen has got it all.

Flicker-free display

More importantly, Honor 90 is also the very first smartphone to receive “TÜV Rheinland Flicker-Free” certification, thanks to its incredible 3,840Hz PWM dimming support.

So this means when some people say they get headaches using their phone at low brightness? Or maybe you’re one of those people? That’s because of the low PWM — aka frequency of the screen, where the light-emitting diodes turn on and off rather slowly.

Not everyone notices this, but it can be the stuff of literal headaches to those who do. For comparison, Galaxy S23 Ultra and iPhone 14 Pro Max have PWM dimming of just 240 and 480Hz, respectively, which is considered to be on the lower end.

On top of a flicker-free display, Honor 90 also has a hardware-level blue light filter to protect your eyes from prolonged exposure to harmful blue lights.

I’m also enjoying the usual media consumption experience on this phone. It has no problem playing HDR videos or anything, so that’s great too. However, Honor’s decision to go with a single speaker setup on a midrange phone is rather disappointing. As a result, I’ve had to connect earbuds every time I want to watch any shows or movies on this thing.

Performance

Getting to the performance side of things, the Honor 90 is powered by Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chip. It’s not the newest or the most powerful processor in this price bracket, but it is capable enough to get through your regular chores perfectly fine.

Oh, Honor has gone with an “Accelerated Edition” of 7 Gen 1 here, by the way. This is just a really fancy way of saying it has a sli…ghtly overclocked primary CPU core and nothing more.

Either way — as I said before — normal usage feels superfluid on the Honor 90. I haven’t encountered any lags, stutters, or overheating issues while I go about my everyday errands here, even though I can’t recommend it to serious gamers.

You can play titles like PUBG and COD Mobile at a steady 60 fps, but the phone gets warm pretty fast. Whereas I also noticed some frame drops when playing Genshin Impact at just Medium graphics settings with 60 fps mode turned on.

But I do like how generous Honor has been when it comes to memory configuration for this phone. You get the base 256GB storage and 12GB RAM in its base variant. So multitasking and RAM management have not been a problem here.

Software and UI

MagicOS 7.1, Android 13

I find Honor’s MagicOS to be quite optimized as well, although some official confirmation on the number of software updates the phone would get would’ve been nice too. One Honor representative we spoke to did mention the Honor 90 will get at least up to the Android 15 update, but why not make an official announcement for everyone to see?

Camera

Okay, let me talk about the cameras now. And here, Honor has gone with Samsung’s 200MP ISOCELL HP3 sensor — the same one you’d on the Realme 11 Pro+ — alongside a 12MP ultrawide and a 2MP macro shooter. And taking care of the selfies is a 50MP sensor inside the hole-punch cutout.

Primary

I gotta say, the images from its main camera are pretty great actually. They’re a bit heavy in terms of contrast — yes — but daytime photos from the Honor 90 have good details and colors.

But since it doesn’t have OIS, it often struggles to lock focus on moving subjects like your pets. And this means its lowlight shots don’t turn out as sharp as they should either.

Ultrawide

Its ultrawide photos are pretty great, though. There’s not much color shift here compared to the normal shots, and the Honor 90 maintains a decent amount of details thanks to that 12MP sensor. And since it supports autofocus as well, you can also take relatively better macro images here.

Portraits

I like its portrait shots too. The way it manages background blurs, the subject’s skin tone, and the contrast level is commendable. There’s also a 2x mode for portraits, but except for a closer subject focus, there’s not much else with this.

Selfie

However, Honor 90’s selfie game is some of the best in the segment. I mean… seriously. The way it maintains skin tone, dynamic range, and everything feels almost flagship-level whether you’re shooting indoors or outdoors. The photos do have a little smoothening effect, but they are good!

Videography

Moving on, this guy can record up to 4K 30 fps videos from its primary, ultrawide, and even selfie camera. Once again — the lack of OIS hurts Honor 90’s reputation in the video department a bit — but the videos do have decent stabilization thanks to EIS.

Battery and Charging

As for battery life, Honor 90 has been getting me through my usual workday just fine. But still, the battery optimization on this thing is not the best, especially at low battery levels, where it starts draining pretty fast.

At least its charging speed is pretty sweet, with the 66W adapter you get inside the box, taking the phone from 0 to 100% in less than an hour.

Honor 90 Review: Conclusion

Okay, time to wrap things up now. And for the most part, the Honor 90 checks a lot of boxes for a balanced midrange phone. Not just in terms of the usual stuff, but I also like how Honor has paid attention to quality of life things like network reception and call quality.

So for something under Rs. 60,000 in Nepal, I think the Honor 90 is fairly competitively priced. And besides the phone itself, I’m also super pumped to see such a competent brand make its comeback in one of the largest smartphone markets in the world. Only time will tell what this means for the competition and the future of the smartphone industry, but I can’t wait to see things play out.

Honor recently launched the Play 40S smartphone, with similar design and features to its siblings, like Play 40 and Play 40C. The phone boasts matte colors, a rectangular camera setup, and the brand logo on the corner.
