NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Graphics Cards Price in Nepal [Updated]

NVIDIA finally launched the GeForce RTX 3060 desktop graphics card as the latest entry to its Ampere-based RTX 30 series back in January 2021. Let’s take a closer look at the specs, features, price, and availability of NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 in Nepal.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Overview:

True Successor to GTX 1060?

RTX 3060 is the card that NVIDIA wants the GTX 1060 users to upgrade to. There was GeForce RTX 2060 in between the two but it failed to win the heart of the average consumers.

GTX 1060 vs RTX 2060 vs RTX 23060 Raytracing

The new RTX 3060 comes with NVIDIA’s second-generation raytracing technology. According to the company, it is twice and ten times better in raster and raytracing, respectively, compared to GTX 1060.

Key features

Similarly, it has NVIDIA’s third-generation tensor cores. These cores are used by DLSS, NVIDIA’s proprietary upscaling technology, to help improve fps in rasterized and RTX games. As of now, the tech is supported by 40+ games. Users can enjoy 60 fps on popular titles like Cyberpunk 2077, Minecraft (RTX), and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War using GeForce Experience’s optimization.

To further enhance the gameplay of RTX titles, the new card comes with DLSS – NVIDIA’s proprietary upscaling technology. It is compatible with up to 40 different games.

Also, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 is the first card in the RTX 30-series to support the Resizable BAR technology out-of-the-box. Their mobile versions come with Resizable BAR as well while existing RTX 30 cards will support this feature via a BIOS update. It is based on PCI Express technology that allows compatible systems to access all of the VRAM at once instead of doing it on fragments.

Like all other RTX 30 series cards, the RTX 3060 brings support for HDMI 2.1, DirectX 12 Ultimate, AV1 codec, and Direct Storage. Similarly, users will also get to enjoy features like NVIDIA Reflex, NVIDIA Broadcast, and NVIDIA Studio.

Technical Specifications

In terms of specs, the RTX 3060 comes with 3584 CUDA cores. The base and boost clock speeds are listed at 1.32 and 1.78GHz, respectively. Though the card has a narrow memory bus of 192-bit, NVIDIA has decided to equip it with up to 12GB of GDDR6 VRAM. To compare, the RTX 3060 Ti with a wider 256-bit bus only has 8GB of VRAM. It has a TDP of 170W which is 30W lower than that of the 3060 Ti.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Graphics Cards Price in Nepal [Updated]

This article includes the latest price of NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 graphics cards in Nepal from different brands. It is a high-end graphics card under NVIDIA’s Ampere-based RTX 30 series that was unveiled in September 2020.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Overview:

Here, Ampere is the successor to the Turing architecture (found in RTX 20 series), and it features NVIDIA’s second-generation raytracing (RT) cores and third-gen Tensor cores. Like every other entry in this lineup, the RTX 3070 is also manufactured under a custom Samsung 8nm process technology.

NVIDIA RTX 3070 Founder's Edition - Overview

During the launch event, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang mentioned that the RTX 3070 was faster than the Turing-based RTX 2080 Ti. In fact, the entire RTX 30 series represented the biggest generational performance leap in NVIDIA’s history! Anyway, the 3070 brings the GA104-300 GPU with 17.4 billion transistors. Then there are 5,888 CUDA cores, 184 Texture Mapping Units (TMU), and 96 Render Output Units (ROP).

Just 8GB GDDR6 video memory

As for memory, NVIDIA has gone with 8GB of GDDR6 VRAM here. This decision received widespread criticism because, for a card that was targeting 4K gaming, just 8GB of video memory was simply not enough. That too of the slower GDDR6 standard compared to the faster GDDR6X memory on the enthusiast-grade RTX 3080 and 3090 series!

3090 Ti 3090 3080 Ti 3080 3070 Ti 3070
VRAM 24GB 12GB 10/12GB 8GB
Type GDDR6X GDDR6
Bandwidth (in bits) 384 384/320 256-bit

Still and all, the RTX 3070 is just fine for 1440p gaming (and subsequently 1080p gaming too). And since it supports NVIDIA’s DLSS technology, the 3070 is also future-proof enough to handle 1440p gaming on future titles.

More on the memory, it features a 256-bit memory bus with 448 GB/s bandwidth. The RTX 3070 can run at a 1.50 GHz base or 1.77 GHz of boost clock speed. In terms of power, this card has 220W TGP, while NVIDIA recommends you use a 650W or higher PSU.

Founder’s Edition

Moving on, the RTX 3070 Founder’s Edition comes with a dual-fan design (both on the same side of the cooler). The left fan is dedicated to cooling the GPU while the one on the right pushes air through the card’s shroud to the opposite end. As demonstrated by multiple independent reviews, this dual-axial design is perfectly capable of keeping the 3070 quiet and cool.

But if you want even more aggressive cooling and also a bit of RGB flair, you can opt for RTX 3070 partner (aka aftermarket) cards instead. Companies like Asus, MSI, Gigabyte, EVGA, Zotac, Sapphire, ASRock, and others offer different categories of RTX 3070 with varying levels of cooling solution and visual aesthetics; all the while retaining the core specs of NVIDIA’s reference RTX 3070.

When it comes to price, the RTX 3070 Founder’s Edition had an MSRP (Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price) of just $499! However, thanks to the booming crypto industry and the global chip shortage, this card retailed for more than double/triple the price for a long time. To counter this, NVIDIA also launched LHR (Lite Hash Rate)-enabled cards that limited their crypto-mining capability.

But as both situations have eased up recently, the GPU prices in general getting back to normal. At least in the Western market. In any case, do note that partner cards are usually a little more expensive than their respective Founder’s Edition counterparts.

RTX 3070 Specifications:

  • CUDA cores: 5888
  • Boost Clock: 1.73 GHz
  • Base Clock: 1.50 GHz
  • VRAM Memory: 8GB GDDR6 (14 Gbps)
  • Memory Interface Width: 256 bit
  • Ray Tracing Cores: 2nd Generation
  • Tensor Cores: 3rd Generation

Hacking is now possible through HDMI electromagnetic radiation

0

Hackers can now see what’s on your screen just by reading invisible signals from your HDMI radiation. While this isn’t a major concern for everyday users just yet, the future could be a different story. In this article, we’ll dive into the details of this new threat.

Yet another AI threat

HDMI is a digital video and audio connection protocol that is commonly used to link televisions, hard disc recorders, game consoles, and personal computers to monitors.

In the past, it was easier for hackers to see what was on a screen by detecting signals from analogue video cables. Modern digital cables like HDMI made this harder because their signals are more complex. However, a certain number of electromagnetic waves still leak out when transmitted through an HDMI cable.

Hacking through HDMI radiation

And now hackers can intercept this radiation leaking from the cable connecting your monitor and computer and use artificial intelligence to decode what’s displayed on your screen. By comparing the leaked signals with the original screen content, the AI learned to reconstruct the screen’s image.

The AI can recreate text from the intercepted signals with about 70% accuracy, which is good enough for most people to understand. This means hackers could potentially see passwords, financial info, or private messages.

The researchers tested their method by using software to recognize text from the images their AI model recovered. They then compared this text to what was originally on the screen. Their technique improved the accuracy of this type of HDMI spying by 60% compared to older methods.

Now the hackers could simply use this technique by placing a device inside a building or using an antenna nearby to capture the leaked HDMI signals. This is already being used against the government and industrial facilities which is making them concerned, regular users don’t need to worry too much. However, if you are very security conscious, this could be a potential issue to watch out for.

Old concept with an “AI” tag

Well, the idea of hacking through HDMI radiation is not a whole new concept. This has been done before, not with the AI particularly, but using electromagnet using a display port interface at Cambridge University.

TEMPEST (Telecommunication Electronics Materials Protected from Emanating Spurious Transmission) is a set of rules and techniques by the U.S. National Security Agency (NSA) and NATO which deals with these kinds of issues (spying on information systems by detecting unintentional signals, sounds, and vibrations that electronic devices give off). So, the rules were there already then the idea cannot be new, right?

The difference between now and then is this time they have used “AI” for this purpose.

Since it’s an affordable laptop, there is no backlit keyboard on Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 1 (2022). The 14-inch model doesn’t have a numeric keyboard either. That said, you still get a dedicated function keys row and a mylar (plastic) touchpad with Windows precision drivers. As for audio, Lenovo IdeaPad 1 features two speakers with 1.5W each with Dolby’s backing.

Performance and Memory

Over on the performance, this laptop is available with processors ranging from the entry-level AMD 3000 to the new Ryzen 7000 series CPU. In Nepal, you can choose between the Ryzen 3 7320U and Ryzen 5 7520U variants of the IdeaPad Slim 1 (2022). These are entry-level mobile CPUs from Ryzen based on the older Zen 2 microarchitecture. Both are 4C/8T CPUS with maximum clock speeds of up to 4.1 and 4.3GHz, respectively.

This new chip brings support for LPDDR5 memory, which Lenovo is happy to ship the IdeaPad Slim 1. On the downside, the memory is soldered. That means you won’t be able to upgrade it beyond the default 8GB. For storage, you get one SSD slot with a capacity of 1TB.

Battery and Connectivity

Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 1 has passed 9 hours mark on the MobileMark 2018 battery test with the built-in 42Wh battery. The laptop ships with a 65W barrel-shaped battery. Talking about ports, Lenovo has included 2x USB-A, 1x USB-C, 1x HDMI, 1x combined audio jack, and an SD card reader. The laptop also has Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1 for wireless connectivity.

DJI Neo might be the smallest drone from the company

There is some buzz in the town that suggests DJI is adding a mini drone to their rich portfolio. They do offer something like DJI Mini which is quite lightweight in its own right, but this one is reportedly even lighter. In this article, we will discuss the DJI Neo and all the rumours surrounding it in further detail.

DJI Neo Rumours Round-up

Certified Mini Guy

The DJI Neo has already made it into the FCC listing carrying the model number “DN1A0626”. This confirms the existence of the product, though it does not reveal much detail about it. All that we know from this listing is, it packs a battery with a capacity of 1,435 mAh or 10.5Wh.

First look?

In the meantime, X user @OsitaLV posted a video where the supposed DJI Neo is being tested. In the video, we do not see any FPV headset suggesting that it might be a hover drone. It could be designed for simple flight operations and aerial photography.

Walmart Listing

Another X user DroneMood apparently found an early Walmart listing of the DJI Neo which reveals its pricing. The drone will cost USD 329, however, we should also mention that the listing is for the Fly More Combo. This means you will be getting extra batteries, a charging hub, and a carrying case bundled with the drone for that pricing.

What else?

Much about the aerial device is still unknown. But based on how the drone looks and its supposed pricing, sources are drawing comparisons of the DJI Neo with the HoverAir X1. The latter is also a hover drone and is currently listed for USD 349.

Other than that, it’s a speculation game. Drone expert Weiliang Zhang utilises his knowledge and does some math based on the drone’s battery to figure out what it might weigh. He concludes that the DJI Neo will be around 169 grams and might offer 15 minutes of flight time with a single-axis gimbal.

DJI Neo Launch and Availability

With all the leaks and listing hovering around, I think that this hover drone will be launching sooner rather than later. We already have a pretty concrete idea of how much it might cost as well.

I would say DJI Neo might officially surface within a matter of months. But hey, you can never tell certainly just based on leaks. So, it might even take more than that.
