The Swift lineup was already a popular ultrabook because of its lightweight design and affordable price. Then Acer decided to introduce the “X” models with discrete graphics. These new laptops have grown in popularity among students with hybrid usage. This article will discuss the specs, features, price, and availability of the Acer Swift X 2022 (AMD), which has just launched in Nepal.

Design and Display

Although it now packs a faster RTX GPU, the design of Swift X 2022 has remained mostly the same. You get the same metal chassis with 17.9mm thickness and 1.39 kg weight. The lid is of a different color than the rest of the body, and Acer offers a couple of options to choose from.

The chassis houses the tried-and-tested 14-inch FHD IPS panel. The screen has 100% sRGB coverage and features a suite of in-house display technologies: Acer BlueLightShield, ExaColor, and Color Intelligence that adjust the screen in real time for the best possible experience. Unfortunately, there is no option for 16:10 aspect ratio and QHD resolution as in the Intel version.

Performance and Memory

Inside, you get to choose between Ryzen 5 5625U and Ryzen 7 5825U processors. These are the Barcelo refresh of AMD Cezanne CPUs. They are still based on Zen 3 architecture but sport higher clock speeds than Ryzen 5600U and 5800U, respectively. You can pair the CPUs with up to RTX 3050 Ti. Because of the Swift X 2022’s form factor, the TGP has been limited to 40W. It ships with up to 16GB of soldered LPDDR4X RAM and 512GB of NVMe SSD.

Keeping the laptop cool is a single “ring” fan with inclined blades. It cools down the heat brought from the CPU and CPU through the dual D6 copper heat pipes. The talk was Meizu was supposedly quitting the smartphone industry. In the midst of that, the company added the third and the most affordable member to its series. It joins the ranks with the titular phone and a Pro model. This article will further look into the Meizu 21 Note including its expected price in Nepal.

Design and Display

The Meizu 21 Note has a similar design language to the rest of its series members. It especially looks the same as the titular phone with two camera cutouts and the RGB Aicy Smart Ring. Other than that, it is 2.5D curved both on the front and the back. This phone is IP65 rated and is available in Unbounded Black and Meizu White colour options.

On the front, the phone houses an 8T OLED panel that stretches 6.78 inches diagonally. It spans 1.5K in resolution, offers a refresh rate of up to 144Hz, and is capable of 100% sRGB as well as DCI-P3 colour gamut. Furthermore, it comes with a touch sampling rate and PWM dimming of 2,160Hz while also being able to achieve a peak brightness of up to 5,000 nits. With this, it is fair to say the screen on the Meizu 21 Note is rich, smooth, and vibrant.

Performance

Under the helm, this phone packs the second-generation flagship chip from Qualcomm i.e. Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Though two new offerings have been launched by the foundry after this one, its days are far from over and is still a very capable processor. With its help, Meizu has powered the 21 Note with AI capabilities such as summarisation, game optimisation, circle searching, image upscaling, etc.

In addition to silicon, the phone comes in two memory and storage configurations. It only has a single 16GB RAM option while for storage you can choose between 256GB and 512GB. The Meizu 21 Note also packs a 5,000 mm² vapour chamber cooling system to keep the phone’s thermals and performance in check.

Camera and the rest

The cameras on the Meizu 21 Note include two shooters on the back and one on the front. The primary camera here is a 50MP unit with a 1/1.56” sensor offering OIS and 8K video recording capability. Additionally, the auxiliary camera on the back is a 13MP ultrawide-cum-macro lens. Meanwhile, the front camera is a 16MP shooter that sits underneath the hole-punch cutout.

The phone packs a 5,500 mAh battery which is the largest in its series in terms of raw capacity. It is coupled with a fast charging capability of 66W Super mCharge. Motorola has launched the Moto X50 Ultra smartphone in China. The device packs high-end specifications and features with the chipset and the camera setup. This article will cover the details of the Moto X50 Ultra, including its expected price in Nepal.

Moto X50 Ultra Overview

Design and Display

The Moto X50 Ultra has a sleek design with dimensions of 8.6 mm thickness and a weight of 197 grams. It features a glass front with Gorilla Glass Victus protection and either a wooden or silicone polymer (eco-leather) back. The frame is made of aluminum. The phone supports dual SIM (Nano-SIM, dual stand-by) and is IP68 dust/water resistant, withstanding immersion in up to 1.5m of water for 30 minutes.

The Moto X50 Ultra boasts a 6.7-inch P-OLED display with a 20:9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 1220 x 2712 pixels (~444 ppi density). Acer refreshed the popular Predator Helio 300 gaming series with Intel’s 12th Gen gaming CPU earlier which is available in the Nepali market now. So, in this article, we will discuss the specs, features, latest price, and availability of the Acer Predator Helios 300 (2022) in Nepal.

Performance and Memory

The most significant change in this year’s Acer Predator lies on the inside. It packs the latest 12th Gen Intel H-series gaming processor. The one being discussed here has the Core i7-12700H, a tetradeca-core processor with 6 performance and 8 efficiency cores. This is paired with NVIDIA’s RTX 3060 GPU with 6GB of GDDR6 and 115W TGP.

With the new 12th Gen processor onboard, Acer Predator Helios 300 (2022) now supports the latest DDR5 memory. You get two SO-DIMM with up 16GB of DDR4 RAM out of the box. However, users can later upgrade it to up to 32GB. For storage, you get two M.2 SSD slots arranged in a RAID 0 configuration.

To help cool the laptop during an extended period, Acer has used two 5th Gen AeroBlade 3D fans, each with 89 blades. It is further backed by liquid metal thermal grease and the in-house CoolBoost solution.

Design

Over on the outside, Acer has made some minor changes to the 2022 edition of the Predator Helios 300. The biggest of all is the hinge. Now, the display sits on two distinct pedestals, differentiating from the keyboard deck below. Furthermore, the top lid does retain the Predator logo, but the two curved lines next to it are gone. As a result, the latest Helios 300 has a more formal look than its predecessor.

As with previous years, Acer offers the Predator Helios 300 (2022) in 15.6” and 17” versions. This article will stick to the former since it’s the only one that is currently available in Nepal. It is an FHD panel with a 165Hz refresh rate and a 3ms response rate. There is even a QHD model with the same specs, but like the 17” version, it is yet to launch in Nepal.

Sony launches its latest midrange phone with minimal upgrades

Sony just launched a fresh smartphone that slots in the midrange space. It is the Sony Xperia 10 V successor and comes with a few tweaks while it continues to have the same confusing name. In this article, we will discuss the latest Sony Xperia 10 VI in further detail including its price in Nepal while also juxtaposing it with its predecessor.

Sony Xperia 10 VI Overview

Design and Display

The latest edition of Sony’s midrange largely remains unchanged from the previous model. We get the same monotone finish while the camera island has gone a bit more subtle with seamless integration to the back panel itself. Sony mentions that the Xperia 10 VI is light, soft, and translucent. Despite that, the phone boasts ingress protection 65 and 68 ratings and is quite resistant to outside exposure. Meanwhile, it ships in Blue, Black, and White colour options.

This toughness continues up front as well with a Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protecting the screen. The Sony Xperia 10 VI has a rather elongated panel with a 21:9 aspect ratio — perfect for media consumption. Additionally, it is the company’s proprietary Triluminos Display which is an OLED and offers a vivid viewing experience with a complete DCI-P3 colour gamut. Other than that, it comes in an FHD+ resolution, a 60Hz refresh rate, and a 120Hz touch sampling rate. Moreover, the top and bottom bezels are not going anywhere which houses the front-facing stereo speakers offering 360 Reality Audio certified sound.

Performance

The Sony Xperia 10 VI sees quite a bit of upgrade in the performance department. Firstly, the chipset has been updated to Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 as its predecessor had to make do with the same old Snapdragon 695 as the year prior. While the internal architecture of both the silicons is more or less the same, the newer chip has a more efficient 4nm lithography backing it up for better performance.

Secondly, the phone also receives a memory bump to 8GB coming in from 6GB on the previous model. Contrarily, the storage size remains unchanged at 128GB which is on the lower end by 2024 standards. However, that should not be an issue as this phone supports microSDXC cards of up to 1.5TB. Software-wise, the Sony Xperia 10 VI boots on Android 14 and is promised to receive three and four years of OS and security updates respectively.

Camera and the rest

Moving on to the camera, this time the company has decided to cut down on the number of optics on its phone. The Sony Xperia 10 VI comes with just two cameras on the back instead of three like its prior versions. The telephoto shooter has been snapped out of existence on this phone while the remaining two sensors remain unchanged.

Given that, it comes with a 48MP primary camera with a 1/2.0” Exmor RS sensor. Similarly, the auxiliary lens on this phone is an 8MP ultrawide shooter while the front-facing camera is also an 8MP unit.

In the tank, the Sony Xperia 10 VI packs a 5,000 mAh battery which supports USB PD fast charging. Furthermore, it also comes with multiple features like Xperia Adaptive Charging, Battery Care, and STAMINA Mode. Apart from that, it is a 5 G-ready phone with dual SIM support with one Nano-SIM and one eSIM. Additional wireless connectivity includes dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth v5.2, and NFC support. Lastly, it also comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack for a wired connection.

Xiaomi launches a new high-speed data cable dubbed the “6A USB4”

Xiaomi has a whole ecosystem of products ranging from home appliances to cars. Adding to their ever-growing catalogue, the Chinese tech giant has now launched a new data cable capable of high-speed data transfers. In this article, we will discuss the latest Xiaomi 6A USB4 data cable in further detail including its price in Nepal.

Xiaomi 6A USB4 Overview

Design

There is not much we can talk about in terms of the design of a data cable. The Xiaomi 6A USB4 looks pretty standard with Dark Grey colour and USB Type-C ports on both ends. Inside, it uses a coaxial core while the outer body comes in a braided finish. Meanwhile, the material of the cable is a combination of TPE and PTE, both of which are a type of polymer.

In the meantime, the cord stretches a metre in length and has a tensile strength of over 100N. Meaning, that the Xiaomi 6A USB4 can hold weights of up to 10 kilos without much issue. Lastly, the company assures a plug and unplug life of more than 10,000 times.

OFFICIAL: Poco X3 Pro with Snapdragon 860, 120Hz display launched in Nepal

Poco’s latest phone, the Poco X3 Pro has also been looked up to as the true successor to the original Poco F1 because of the price-to-performance ratio. And the phone has finally launched in Nepal today (16th of May). It is expected to be available later this week. Let’s look at the Poco X3 Pro in more detail, including its specs, features, official price, and availability in Nepal.

Poco X3 Pro Overview:

Design and Display

Poco X3 Pro is identical to that of the Poco X3 in terms of display. The phone features a 6.67-inch FHD+ DotDisplay, and still uses an LCD panel which is kind of a bummer given that the recently launched Redmi Note 10 Pro comes with an AMOLED panel. Moving on, you do get a 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate. The typical brightness is listed at 450 nits. The display is protected by a newer Corning Gorilla Glass 6. Other features include HDR10 certification, Sunlight display, and Reading Mode 2.0.

On the back, the design also remains unchanged from the vanilla Poco X3. However, it now has anti-fingerprint textures. The 3D curved panel is available in three color options – Phantom Black, Frost Blue, and Metal Bronze.

Performance

For the #PROformance, Poco has gone with the Snapdragon 860 chipset that was announced alongside the device. The chipset features eight Kryo 480 CPU cores with the Prime core clocked at 2.96GHz. The graphics are handled by Adreno 640 GPU. Thus, the new chipset is very similar to the Snapdragon 855+.

According to the company, the chipset can attain a 419,412 AnTuTu v8 score. Thus, it is 52% better than the Snapdragon 765G. Similarly, the improved AI engine is capable of operating 7.6 TOPS compared to SD 855’s 7 TOPS.

The phone also has the LiquidCool Technology 1.0 Plus. It uses a copper heat pipe and multiple Graphite layers that help to reduce the temperature of the phone.

Poco X3 Pro is available in two memory configurations – 6/128GB and 8/256GB. Irrespective of the variant, you will be getting LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 3.1 internal storage. The phone also ships with MIUI 12 (for Poco) based on Android 11 out-of-the-box.

Camera

In terms of cameras, the phone features a quad-camera setup on the back. Interestingly, the primary camera now uses a 48MP sensor. The vanilla Poco X3 had a 64MP sensor. There is an 8MP (f/2.2) ultra-wide camera with a 119-degree Field of View. Poco has added two additional 2MP sensors to make up the numbers.

Talking about camera features, you now get Night mode support on the Ultra-wide sensor. Similarly, the phone supports Dual Video, Video clone, and Long exposures. On the front, there is a 20MP (f/2.2) selfie camera as in the vanilla X3. It also comes with a dedicated Night mode.

Rest of the specs

X3 Pro packs in a massive 5160mAh battery. Poco is including a 33W charger in the box. There is a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for biometrics. The phone supports Bluetooth 5.0 and WI-Fi 5. NFC connectivity will be available in select regions. Other features include IR Blaster, stereo speakers, Hi-Res Audio, and Z-axis linear motor.

Sony Xperia 1 VI officially launched with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and improved zoom camera

Enthusiast phones are pretty rare these days. Previously we had seen the Zenphone series from ASUS, and Xperia always had its mark with super manual camera-centric phones. Now, the Japanese company has finally unveiled its flagship phone for 2024, the Sony Xperia 1 VI. In this article, we further discuss everything about the latest Sony Xperia 1 VI, including its expected price in Nepal, specifications, and availability.

Sony Xperia 1 VI Overview

Design and Display

The phone features a minimalistic, boxy design with flat edges and a flat back along with a pill-shaped camera island. It has a glass front (Gorilla Glass Victus 2), a glass back (Gorilla Glass Victus), and an aluminum frame. The device is IP68 dust/water resistant, weighs 192g, and has an 8.2mm thickness.

The Xperia 1 VI sports a 6.5-inch FHD+ (1080 x 2340 pixels) OLED display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The display supports HDR, full DCI-P3 color gamut, X1 for mobile, a 1-120Hz refresh rate, 240Hz touch sampling rate, and 240Hz motion blur reduction.

It retains the 3.5mm headphone jack and supports various audio technologies like 360 Reality Audio, 360 Spatial Sound, Dolby Atmos, LDAC, DSEE Ultimate, Qualcomm aptX HD audio, and LE Audio.

Lenovo launches ThinkPad P14s Gen 5 (AMD) — ABSOLUTE PERFORMANCE!

While the Lenovo Legion Slim 5 Gen 9 just made its way to Nepal, the company just refreshed another one of its laptops for the international market. The laptop — or “mobile workstation”, as the company calls it — in question is built for performance and comes with an AMD Ryzen PRO processor. We will further discuss the Lenovo ThinkPad P14s Gen 5 (AMD) in this article including its expected price in Nepal.

Design and Display

The design of any given laptop series is pretty iconic and usually does not change. Similar is the case for the fifth-generation Lenovo ThinkPad P14s. It comes in an all-black monotone finish with the red TrackPoint in the middle of the keyboard. Additionally, the laptop also boasts the MIL-STD-810H certification for its durability.

On the front, the Lenovo ThinkPad P14s Gen 5 (AMD) comes with a 14-inch screen that is available in five different configurations. The highest of which can be an OLED panel with a 2.8K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. This screen is capable of 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut and 400 nits peak brightness. Other than that, you can also get the laptop with an IPS LCD panel with touch support and 500 nits brightness.

Performance

As I mentioned earlier, this laptop packs an AMD Ryzen PRO 8040HS series chipset under its helm. To be more specific, it can either be a Ryzen 5 PRO 8640HS or a Ryzen 7 PRO 8840HS. The former comes with six cores, 12 threads, 16MB L3 cache, 4.9GHz max frequency, and a Radeon 760M integrated GPU. Meanwhile, the latter processor option has eight cores, 16 threads, 16MB L3 cache, 5.1GHz peak clock speed, and a Radeon 780M graphics.

Both of these processors also come with the AMD Ryzen AI engine that handles on-device AI duties for the Lenovo ThinkPad P14s Gen 5. In addition to the silicon, this laptop comes with up to 96GB of memory which can be configured with DDR5-5600 RAM in a dual-channel. In terms of storage, it can have a maximum of 2TB of NVMe PCIe 4.0 Performance SSD. On the software side of things, this laptop can boot on different versions of Windows 11, Fedora Linux, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.2, as well as Ubuntu Linux LTS.

Battery and the rest
