Realme, the renowned smartphone manufacturer, has recently taken the wraps off its latest addition to the smartphone lineup, the Realme 12+. Before getting ahead of ourselves, I want to remind you that, it is part of the Realme 12 Series, as they launched the 12 Pro and Pro+ just a month back. Let’s delve into discussing the Realme 12+, including its Price in Nepal and specifications.

Realme 12+ Overview

Design

The Realme 12+ boasts a sleek design, reminiscent of the popular Realme 12 Pro/Pro+, with dimensions measuring 163 x 75.5 x 7.9 mm and weighing 190 g. It features a glass front, a silicone polymer back made of eco-leather (vegan), and a plastic frame.

Equipped with a vibrant AMOLED display, the Realme 12+ offers a 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ support. With a size of 6.67 inches, it provides an immersive viewing experience, complemented by a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels. iPhone introduced ProMotion displays on iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max back in 2021. However, it has only been reserved for iPhone Pro and Pro Max users so far. It appears that it will not be the case anymore! But! From the iPhone 17 series. Let’s learn more about the iPhone of the future in this article.

iPhone 17 Series Rumours Round-up

Display

The base, and Plus variants of the iPhone have been featuring an LTPS panel that caps out at just a 60Hz refresh rate. On the other hand, Apple iPhone Pro models come with a “ProMotion” display. Which is Apple’s fancy way of saying it is an LTPO display with refresh rates of 1–120Hz. The same appears to be true for the upcoming iPhone 16 series as well.

However, sources claim that the iPhone 17 and 17 Plus will finally get LTPO panels. Moreover, as per them, BOE is eyeing to supply their LTPO panels to Apple. We saw a screen from this very company on the latest OnePlus flagship. Moreover, the Chinese display company apparently sent samples to the iPhone makers last year and is awaiting their green light.

Anyhoo, even if Apple approves the panel it is still unknown if BOE can meet the demands of the multi-trillion dollar company. After all, Apple is the same company that singlehandedly created a shortage of TSMC’s 3nm chipset. Hence, BOE may very well be incapable of sufficiently supplying Apple with its panel. If that is the case then Apple may stick with Samsung or opt with LG for the LTPO displays on the iPhone 17 series.

Design

The word is that the iPhone 16 series is getting taller with 6.69 inches and 6.86 inches display size and 19.6:9 aspect ratio. If that comes to fruition, we can expect the size and the aspect ratio to trickle down to the iPhone 17 series as well.

Other than that, there are also talks of camera bump design being updated to something similar to a fidget spinner or a triangular cutout. Furthermore, we are also hearing that Apple will be burying Face ID technology under the panel itself. As a result, the iPhone 17s might finally be the iPhone to have a hole-punch camera cutout on the front.

Titanium and Boxy

The iPhone 15 Pro Max started a domino effect on the flagship space by reverting to a flat design and featuring Titanium as the material of choice. This compelled Samsung to do the same on their Galaxy S24 Ultra as well. We can surely see more and more flagship phones going boxy with a Titanium back plate in years to come.

Judging by how popular this decision turned out to be, Apple will likely stick with the edged design and the metal for many years now. Thus, the iPhone 17 series should come with a flat frame made out of Titanium.

Performance

If we go by the company’s trend so far, the iPhone 17 and 17 Plus should come with the A18 chipset. A pro variant of the chipset is said to be in the works with boosted NPU for the upcoming top-of-the-line iPhone 16. In the meantime, the iPhone 17 Pro Max should introduce the A19 Pro chipset. Additionally, rumours suggest that the chipset will with WiFi 7 support.

Camera

iPhones have been a staple camera phone since the dawn of time. And why would it not be? Apple has been very consistent with its cameras. It doubled the camera resolution to 48MP while also introducing Photonic Engine on the iPhone 14 Pro Max. At the time of the iPhone 15 Pro Max, they increased the default image size to 24MP.

We are yet to see what comes in the iPhone 16, but the word is that we will be getting a 48MP unit for ultrawide cameras. Similarly, by the time of iPhone 17, sources are speculating that the 48MP number will be carried over to the telephoto lens as well. In addition to that, sources are hoping Apple will finally bump up the selfie camera resolution to 24MP in the iPhone 17 series.

Well, it is an open secret that Apple launches its phone in September every year. So, the iPhone 17 series should launch in September 2025. Until and unless we are hit by some unforeseen happenstance on a global scale this is unlikely to change.

We still do not have a word on how much the iPhone 16 Pro Max will cost. So, getting a lead on the price of the iPhone 17 series is obviously out of the question. But, if I were to put an estimate nonetheless, I would expect a maxed-out iPhone 17 Pro Max to go up to USD 1,799.

Here’s a new MediaTek 4G chip for budget phones — Helio G91

In recent times, it seemed as if microprocessor manufacturers had diverted all their focus to 5G chips only. However, MediaTek just launched a new 4G processor without making much noise about it. Let’s discuss the new MediaTek Helio G91 chipset in further detail in this article.

MediaTek Helio G91 Overview

The latest MediaTek chip shares a lot of similarities in terms of hardware to the Helio G88 and G85 processors. So, we could say it is an update to those Helio chips.

Internals

MediaTek Helio G91 comes with eight cores altogether where two of which are ARM Cortex-A75, and six of them are ARM Cortex-A55 cores. In terms of the fabrication, it follows TSMC‘s 12nm process. This processor can achieve a peak clock speed of 2.0 GHz through its A75 cores while the A55 cores cap out at 1.8 GHz.

The graphics on the MediaTek Helio G91 are handled by the ARM Mali-G52 MC2 GPU and clock in at a maximum of 1.0 GHz.

Hardware support

The main highlight of this chipset is that it can support up to 108MP of camera unit. On top of that, the MediaTek Helio G91 comes with different hardware accelerators such as a hardware depth engine for dual camera bokeh captures, Camera Control Unit (CCU), Electronic Image Stabilisation (EIS), and Rolling Shutter Compensation (RCS) technologies.

Other than that, this processor supports a display with resolutions of up to 2,520 x 1,080 pixels and a 90Hz refresh rate. Furthermore, it can work with up to 8GB LPDDR4x-1800 RAM while it can go hand-in-hand with eMMC 5.1 storage.

Connectivity

As mentioned earlier, it is a 4G chipset and supports 4G VoLTE cellular connectivity while allowing you to use data even when you are on a call. Similarly, MediaTek Helio G91 offers additional wireless connectivity through WiFi 5, and Bluetooth v5.0 support.

Meanwhile, it has a four-way navigation capability with BeiDou, GALILEO, GLONASS, and good ol’ GPS. MediaTek has packed this processor with an internal navigation engine allowing it to understand its dashboard mount orientation. Looking into the details of the chipset we can easily deduce that it is targeted at the budget phones. Even though MediaTek has not mentioned when will the chip make its way into smartphones and our hands. The Nubia Neo 2 5G is a phone for gamers, and you can tell that by just looking at it. The phone has a very mechanical design with two unorthodox octagonal camera cutouts on the back. Judging by the looks, the phone appears to have chosen polycarbonate as the material of choice on the back.

Cameras

As mentioned earlier, this phone is a camera-focused smartphone, and as such, it packs very solid camera specs. For starters, the primary shooter here is a Sony IMX890 sensor with 50MP resolution. Moreover, the phone features full-scene AI noise reduction for HDR videos, which Tecno says is the first in the industry. On the front, you get another 50MP shooter with an autofocus feature.

The Tecno Camon 30 Premier 5G draws its power from a 5,000 mAh battery with 70W fast charging capability. It comes with WiFi, Bluetooth, and an IR blaster for wireless connectivity. Meanwhile, the wired connections are handled by a sole USB Type-C port.
