Vivo Y50i launched with almost the exact same specs as Y50 5G and Y50m

Behold the Vivo Y50i, the third entry in the Y50 lineup, which includes Y50 5G and Y50m. But the only thing different between the Y50i and its siblings is in terms of the charging speed. So in this article, we will take a closer look at the new Vivo Y50i, including its features, specifications, and expected price in Nepal.

Vivo Y50i Overview

Design and display

Starting with the design, the Y50i features a clean look like most budget Vivo phones we’ve seen recently. It has a light ring at the back for notifications, while the Y50i has a fairly tough build since it has also received the SGS five-star drop certification.

Vivo has also secured an IP64 rating for this phone, while it’s available in three colors: “Diamond Black”, “Azure”, and “Platinum”.

Vivo Y50i color options

As for the display, the Vivo Y50i has a 6.74-inch LCD panel with a standard HD+ resolution. It has a 90Hz refresh rate, 1,000 nits of peak brightness, 70% of NTSC color gamut, and also DC dimming support.

Performance and camera

Like the rest of the Y50 gang, the Vivo Y50i is powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 6300 as well. This chipset is paired with 6 gigs of LPDDR4X RAM and 128 gigs of eMMC 5.1 internal storage. Additionally, the device boots on OriginOS 5, based on Android 15.

The Vivo Y50i has a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP selfie shooter. Both of them are capable of shooting 1080p videos.

Same battery, slower charging speed

The Y50i has the same 6,000 mAh battery as other phones in this lineup, although it charges slower at just 15W. Compared to 44W on the Vivo Y50 5G and Y50m. But the funny thing is that Vivo is still providing a 44W charger in its box.

Vivo Y50i 6000 mAh battery

Other than that, the Vivo Y50i comes with dual SIM 5G support and a Bluetooth 5.4 connection. We also get GPS navigation along with NFC and an IR blaster. While ports include the normal USB Type-C and a 3.5 mm headphone jack.

Xiaomi’s new midrange tablet has flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite processor

0

Alongside the Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro, and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, Xiaomi also launched its latest midrange tablets. The Xiaomi Pad 8 and Pad 8 Pro. This mid-range tablet has Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, and it’s launching in the global market as well. So let’s explore what this tablet has to offer, alongside the expected price of the Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro in Nepal.

Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro Overview

Elegant design and a fast display

The Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro looks simple in its own way. The tablet is thin at just 5.75 – 5.8 mm, while weighing between 485 and 494 grams depending on the model. Since, like the regular Xiaomi Pad 8, the Pro version also gets an optional “Nano Texture” display that can cut reflections by 70%.

The Pad 8 Pro doesn’t have any sort of IP rating, but it does come in a couple of interesting color options like Gray, Blue, and Green.

Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro color options

Unfortunately, Xiaomi didn’t bring any upgrades to the display this time. We are seeing the same 11.2-inch LCD panel, which can go up to 144Hz. It also has 12-bit colors, 800 nits of peak brightness, 360Hz touch sampling rate, and a 3.2K resolution.

The only new addition here compared to the Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro is that it now supports the HDR Vivid standard, alongside HDR10 and Dolby Vision.

Upgraded chip

As for performance, the Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro is powered by a flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite processor. Which was only recently succeeded by 8 Elite Gen 5, by the way. And although it is now Qualcomm’s second-most powerful mobile chip, it’s still a massive performance leap over Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 on the Pad 7 Pro.

With something like 78% better CPU and 105% better GPU performance according to Xiaomi.

Additionally, this has been paired with either 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM (8533 Mbps) or 12/16GB of faster LPDDR5T RAM (9600 Mbps). Xiaomi has also gone with a slower UFS 3.1 storage on the base 128GB model, compared to UFS 4.1 on the 256GB and 512GB models.

And in terms of software, the Pad 8 Pro runs on HyperOS 3 on top of Android 16. With some interesting features like XiaoAi for various AI workloads, cross-device functionality with iPhones and iPads, and all the usual multitasking features like split-screen and dock that we’ve seen on HyperOS before.

You may also like:

A bigger battery, but the same cameras

Like performance, the Pad 8 Pro also earns a battery upgrade to a 9,200 mAh cell (versus 8,850 mAh on its predecessor). The charging speed remains the same at 67W, although it does support 22.5W reverse wired charging now.

Interestingly enough, Xiaomi hasn’t made any changes in the camera department here. It still has a 50MP f/1.8 camera at the back and a 32MP f/2.2 front camera in a horizontal layout as the Pad 7 Pro.

Rest of the features

The Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro houses four speakers with Dolby Atmos audio. They even support adaptive audio to ensure a consistent listening experience depending on how far you are from the tablet.

Xiaomi Focus Stylus Pro

In terms of accessories, you can pair this tablet with the Xiaomi Focus Stylus Pro and the Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro Floating Keyboard. Whereas it has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and an IR blaster as well.

Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro Specifications:

  • Design, build: 251.22 x 173.42 x 5.75 – 5.8 mm, 485 – 494 gm
  • Display: 11.2-inch IPS LCD screen, 3.2K, 144Hz refresh rate
  • Chipset: Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite (3nm mobile platform)
  • Memory: 8/12/16GB RAM, 128/256/512GB storage (non-expandable)

  • Front Camera: 32MP sensor

Vivo V60 Lite 5G is arriving soon in Nepal with a massive 6,500 mAh battery

Just a few days ago, the Vivo V60 Lite 5G went official in the international market. It’s got a massive 6,500 mAh battery, and we can now confirm that this phone is launching soon in Nepal as well. So let’s take a closer look at the Vivo V60 Lite 5G, including its features, specifications, and expected price in Nepal.

Vivo V60 Lite 5G Overview

Design and display

The V60 Lite 5G shares a similar design to the regular Vivo V60. But unlike the V60’s glass back option, this one features a plastic back only. The handset is also IP65 rated, making it capable of withstanding water splashes. Available in “Titanium Blue”, “Titanium Black”, and “Pop Pink” colors, the V60 Lite 5G is pretty slim at just 7.59mm.

Vivo V60 Lite 5G - Display

Similarly, it has a 6.77-inch AMOLED panel with an FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Vivo has also trimmed down the bezels by quite a bit, resulting in an impressive 94.2% screen-to-body ratio. Other than this, it has 3,000 nits of local peak brightness, whereas Vivo has paired it with a stereo speaker setup.

Performance and camera

As for performance, the Vivo V60 Lite 5G brings MediaTek’s Dimensity 7360-Turbo (4nm) chip inside. Which is a pretty upgrade over Snapdragon 685 on its 4G variant. And this has been paired with 8/12GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 256/512GB of UFS 3.1 storage.

In terms of software, it runs on Android 15-based Funtouch OS 15, although it should receive OriginOS 6 update as well, since Vivo is replacing Funtouch OS with OriginOS globally.

Getting to the cameras, the Vivo V60 Lite 5G has a 50MP IMX882 sensor at the back and an 8MP ultrawide camera with a 120° field of view. It also has a ring light for portraits, while you get a 32MP selfie camera here.

Battery and the rest

Like I mentioned earlier, both V60 Lite 5G get a massive 6,500 mAh silicon-carbon battery. Vivo says you can expect 27.5 hours of YouTube playback here—or 12 hours of PUBG gameplay—while its 90W fast charging can take the phone from 1 to 100% in just 52 minutes. Other than this, it also supports 6W reverse wired charging.

Vivo V60 Lite 5G - Design

Other than that, the smartphones come with dual SIM slots, dual-band Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4 support, and an optical in-display fingerprint sensor.

Vivo V60 Lite 5G Specifications:

  • Design, build: 163.77 x 76.28 x 7.59 mm, 194 gm, IP65 rating

Vivo is finally replacing Funtouch OS with OriginOS 6 globally

0

For years, Vivo phones have had two different forks of Android. There was Funtouch OS for the global market, while Vivo phones in China ran on OriginOS instead. Which is arguably the better designed of the two. And now, Vivo has officially confirmed that it is replacing Funtouch OS with OriginOS 6 for Vivo and iQOO phones globally.

Vivo OriginOS 6 to make its global debut

A couple of days ago, Vivo’s CTO Shi Yujian officially confirmed that the company is bringing OriginOS to the global market. Whereas the official X (Twitter) handle of Funtouch OS India recently changed its username to OriginOS as well.

A China-first debut

In China, OriginOS 6 (based on Android 16) will make its debut alongside the Vivo X300 series. Now we’re not sure if the global rollout of OriginOS 6 will be the exact copy of its Chinese version + Google Mobile Services. In any case, we can expect a fresh look and a lot more customization options with OriginOS 6 compared to Funtouch OS.

OriginOS 6

Vivo has also stated that they have reworked the core system with emphasis on optimization. Similarly, it is expected to come with new AI features like we have seen in the just-released Xiaomi HyperOS 3.

You may also like:

Transparent interface

Other than that, Vivo is clearly taking some inspiration from Apple’s iOS 26 with transparent aesthetics this time. For that, they have used “three-layer shading technology,” enhancing the real-time blur and brightening the colors even more.

Vivo OriginOS 6 - New transparency look

Whereas OriginOS 6 will also bring more customization options for the lock screen, alongside a redesigned control center, and smoother animations across the system.

Vivo OriginOS 6 global launch and eligible devices

Vivo will first introduce OriginOS 6 in China on October 10, followed by the global launch on October 15. And we also have the first batch of phones that are scheduled to receive this update. This includes Vivo X Fold5, X200, X200s, X200 Pro, X200 Pro Mini, and X200 Ultra.

While iQOO phones like the iQOO 13, Neo 10, Neo 10 Pro, and Neo 10 Pro+ will also receive OriginOS 6 update. We expect the complete list of all Vivo and iQOO phones that will receive the OriginOS 6 update to arrive shortly.

Apple iPhone Price in Nepal 2025 [Updated]

Are you thinking of buying an iPhone in Nepal? You have come to the right place. There are two ways to get Apple’s latest range of iPhones in Nepal. The first is via a grey channel, and the other is from an authorized channel. In this article, we will discuss all the available iPhone models you can buy from an authorized channel in Nepal, along with their specifications and official price.

iPhones in Nepal Overview:

Generation Next Communications Pvt. Ltd. is the sole authorized official distributor of Apple products in Nepal. Apple products include iPad, iMac, MacBooks, and iPhones. The company has different lineups of iPhones in Nepal with different variants to fit the interests of different types of customers.

The older models, iPhone 14 Pro series, iPhone 15 Pro series, and iPhone 16 Pro series are no longer available in Nepal through the authorized channel. However, you might get these older models from the grey channels. Anyway, to know whether the iPhone you bought in Nepal is from an authorized channel or not, you can follow either of the following steps:

  • Check the Generation Next hologram sticker on the box of your iPhone
  • Buy your iPhone from Authorised sellers like Oliz Store and EvoStore
  • Enter the IMEI number on Genxt Nepal’s website
  • SMS genxt<space>Service Tag number to 34001

Get extended warranty with Shield Pro on the iPhone 17 series

A phone that costs a premium does require some extra care. Otherwise, the repair cost is also on the same (expensive) side. But fear not, if you have purchased the iPhone 17 series from an authorized medium in Nepal, like Oliz Store and EvoStore, you can get an extended warranty service. This is brought to you by Shield Pro. Here’s what you will get:

  • Front screen replacement – Twice within 2 years
  • Back panel replacement – Twice within 2 years
  • Extended warranty – 1 additional year

However, you might need to pay as little as NPR 5,000 as a service charge. But it’s way cheaper than paying the full repair amount. Most importantly, the grey import of iPhones is rising due to MDMS being inactive for the time being.

So, it’s a pretty commendable extended warranty service brought by Genxt, the official distributor of Apple products in Nepal. Also, we always recommend you go for authorized products, and it makes much more sense now.

1. iPhone 17 Pro Max

The new iPhone 17 Pro Max is Apple’s flagship phone for the year. And compared to its predecessor—the iPhone 16 Pro Max—it brings a bunch of meaningful upgrades. Starting with the design itself. The 17 Pro Max has a new “plateau” design that holds most of the internal circuitry at the top of the phone. Not just that, but the iPhone 17 Pro series also moves to an aluminum unibody design and includes a vapor chamber for better heat dissipation.

iPhone 17 Pro Max - Cosmic Orange

We love all its fun color options as well, especially the one called “Cosmic Orange”. The iPhone 17 Pro Max has a brighter display (3,000 nits vs 2,000 nits) and second-gen Ceramic Shield glass for tougher protection. Whereas its new A19 Pro chip (paired with up to 2TB of storage for the first time on an iPhone) truly makes it a “Pro” iPhone.

The camera department sees some nice upgrades as well. Apple is now using a 48MP sensor across the board for the main, ultrawide, and telephoto shots, whereas it now upgrades to an 18MP front camera with an interesting “square”-shaped sensor. As a result, you no longer need to rotate the phone’s orientation to take landscape selfies. Plus, the 17 Pro Max has a larger battery and 40W wired charging instead of 25W.

iPhone 17 Pro Max Specifications:

  • Design, build: 163.4 x 78 x 8.75 mm, 233 gm, IP68 rating
  • Display: 6.9-inch OLED screen, FHD+, 120Hz refresh rate (LTPO)
  • Chipset: Apple A19 Pro (3nm mobile platform)
  • Memory: 12GB RAM, 256GB to 2TB storage (non-expandable)
  • Software & UI: iOS 26
  • Rear Camera: Triple (48MP primary, 48MP ultrawide, 48MP telephoto)
  • Front Camera: 18MP “Center Stage” camera (Dynamic Island)
  • Security: Face ID (via the front camera)
  • Connectivity: Dual-SIM (Nano), WiFi 7 (dual-band), Bluetooth 6, GPS / Glonass / Galileo / BeiDou / QZSS / NavIC, USB-C, 4G LTE, 5G
  • Sensors: Accelerometer, Barometer, Dual ambient light, Gyroscope, LiDAR, Proximity

2. iPhone 17 Pro

iPhone 17 Pro - Silver

Moving on, the iPhone 17 Pro is simply a mini-me of its “Pro Max” sibling. It’s got a smaller 6.3-inch display, a smaller 4,252 mAh battery, and no support for 2TB of storage—but besides that—everything is the same between the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max. Which means if you want the best that Apple has to offer in a relatively compact form factor, you’re gonna love the iPhone 17 Pro.

Although its smaller form factor means that even though this guy also has a vapor chamber, you’re gonna get better thermals on the 17 Pro Max. In terms of software, the entire new iPhone lineup runs on iOS 26 right out of the box with that “Liquid Glass” design. Oh, and one more thing. So while the iPhone 17 Pro models are eSIM-only in some parts of the world, we still get a physical SIM slot.

iPhone 17 Pro Specifications:

  • Design, build: 150 x 71.9 x 8.75 mm, 206 gm, IP68 rating
  • Display: 6.3-inch OLED screen, FHD+, 120Hz refresh rate (LTPO)
  • Chipset: Apple A19 Pro (3nm mobile platform)
  • Memory: 12GB RAM, 256/512GB/1TB storage (non-expandable)
  • Software & UI: iOS 26
  • Rear Camera: Triple (48MP primary, 48MP ultrawide, 48MP telephoto)
  • Front Camera: 18MP “Center Stage” camera (Dynamic Island)
  • Security: Face ID (via the front camera)
  • Connectivity: Dual-SIM (Nano), WiFi 7 (dual-band), Bluetooth 6, GPS / Glonass / Galileo / BeiDou / QZSS / NavIC, USB-C, 4G LTE, 5G

3. iPhone Air

To say that the iPhone Air is Apple’s most ambitious phone yet would be a massive understatement. This is the thinnest iPhone Apple has ever made, as it measures just 5.64mm! The iPhone Air is also the 5th slimmest smartphone in the world… but you have to wonder… who is this for? Especially given that it sacrifices so much in pursuit of being thin and light.

iPhone Air - Light Gold

Because the iPhone Air only has a 48MP f/1.6 camera at the back, meaning no telephoto shots like on the iPhone 17 Pros (and not even ultrawide shots like the regular iPhone 17). Its battery life is also worse than the rest of the iPhone 17 lineup, although the iPhone Air’s screen time seems to be perfectly adequate for most folks based on the reviews we’ve seen so far.

But despite its slim profile, the iPhone Air is surprisingly durable. Even JerryRigEverything couldn’t snap it in half with his hands, so you know Apple has done something special with its engineering. One of the reasons could be that it still has titanium frames versus aluminum on the iPhone 17 series. And of course, performance shouldn’t be an issue thanks to the A19 Pro chip (with one less GPU core) and a smooth 120Hz display.

iPhone Air Specifications:

  • Design, build: 156.2 x 74.7 x 5.64 mm, 165 gm, IP68 rating
  • Display: 6.5-inch OLED screen, FHD+, 120Hz refresh rate (LTPO)
  • Chipset: Apple A19 Pro (3nm mobile platform)
  • Memory: 12GB RAM, 256/512GB/1TB storage (non-expandable)
  • Software & UI: iOS 26
  • Rear Camera: Single (48MP camera)
  • Front Camera: 18MP “Center Stage” camera (Dynamic Island)
  • Security: Face ID (via the front camera)
  • Connectivity: Dual-SIM (eSIM), WiFi 7 (dual-band), Bluetooth 6, GPS / Glonass / Galileo / BeiDou / QZSS / NavIC, USB-C, 4G LTE, 5G
  • Sensors: Accelerometer, Barometer, Dual ambient light, Gyroscope, Proximity
  • Battery: 3,149 mAh with 20W wireless charging (no power adapter in the box)

4. iPhone 17

So while everyone is busy talking about the “plateau” design of the iPhone 17 Pro, or the thinness of the iPhone Air, we think the base iPhone 17 might actually be the best iPhone of the year. Especially for its value. ‘Cause compared to the iPhone 16, it has a nicer display, better cameras, better performance, and better durability. I mean… what more could you possibly want?!

iPhone 17 - Lavender

It also starts with 256GB of storage now, although I won’t call it an upgrade since the iPhone 17’s starting price has gone up as well.

But yeah, the iPhone 17 definitely looks like the iPhone to get for most folks. Apple finally blessed its base iPhone with a 120Hz “ProMotion” display this time, finally shutting down the “slow 60Hz” complaint we used to have. Besides, it also enjoys new Ceramic Shield 2 glass that apparently has 3x better scratch resistance compared to the iPhone 16.

The iPhone 17 upgrades to a 48MP dual camera setup at the back as well for sharper ultrawide shots, and it has the same 18MP “Center Stage” front-facing camera as its “Pro” siblings. With the more efficient A19 chip and other optimizations, Apple even rates the iPhone 17’s video playback capacity at 30 hours versus 22 hours on its predecessor.

5. iPhone 16

The iPhone 16 packs a serious punch with its A18 SoC, delivering top-tier performance for everything from gaming to multitasking. You’ve got a stunning 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display that hits a peak brightness of 2,000 nits, making it perfect for outdoor use.

iPhone 16 - Pink

The camera system is also impressive, featuring a 48MP main lens and a 12MP ultra-wide lens with autofocus, which significantly improves low-light photography. Plus, with 8GB of RAM and storage options up to 512GB, you’re set for a smooth experience

On the flip side, the iPhone 16 doesn’t come without its drawbacks. The 60Hz display refresh rate is a letdown, especially when many competitors are pushing higher refresh rates for a smoother experience. And let’s not ignore the high price tag in Nepal, which could make potential buyers think twice.

Limited camera upgrades from the iPhone 15 also make it less appealing for those looking for a significant leap in photography capabilities. So, if you’re not all-in on the A18’s performance and AI features, you might be better off snagging the iPhone 15, especially with its expected price drop.

iPhone 16 Specifications:

Xiaomi Pad 8 launched with 11.2-inch 144Hz display and Snapdragon 8s Gen 4

0

Xiaomi launched the Pad 8 alongside the Xiaomi 17 series at Lei Jun’s Annual Speech 2025 in Beijing. This is their latest attempt at the mid-range tablet market, sitting below the more expensive Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro. The regular Pad 8 features many thing similar to the expensive 8 Pro. Now, let’s jump in this article, where I will discuss everything about the latest Xiaomi Pad 8, including its price in Nepal, specifications, and availability.

Xiaomi Pad 8 Overview

Display and Design

Xiaomi Pad 8 Display

The 11.2-inch LCD display uses a 3200 × 2136 pixel resolution. The tablet features 3:2 aspect ratio instead of 16:10 ratios found in most Android tablets use. You get a 144Hz refresh rate and 800 nits peak brightness with HDR10, Dolby Vision, and HDR Vivid support.

The display gets full DC dimming, whose point is to reduce flicker and eye strain during long usage. There’s also a matte edition available with AG textured coating that cuts reflections by up to 70%. The tablet measures 5.75mm slim and weighs around 485g.

Xiaomi Pad 8 display

You get three color options – Black, Ice Crystal Blue, and Turquoise Green. The build quality looks solid with what appears to be an aluminum frame, though Xiaomi hasn’t detailed the exact materials used.

Performance

The Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 sits between mid-range and flagship territory. It’s not the 8 Elite chip that the Pad 8 Pro gets, but the 8s gen 4 is tried chipset that can handle everything thrown at it.  RAM options go from 8GB to 12GB with LPDDR5x memory, while storage caps at 256GB using UFS 3.1. The Pro model will get you a faster UFS 4.1 storage and up to 16GB RAM.

The tablet runs Android 16 with HyperOS 3, same as the new phone lineup. Xiaomi’s included PC-grade productivity tools like WPS Office and CAD support as well.

Camera

The camera setup is pretty basic as they come in tablets – 13MP rear and 8MP front cameras. These are clearly cost-cutting measures compared to the Pro’s 50MP rear and 32MP front sensors. But honestly, tablet cameras are usually terrible anyway, so this might not matter unless you’re planning to use it as a giant phone for video calls.

Battery and Charging

The 9,200mAh battery matches the Pro model, which is really impressive for the lower-priced version. However, charging is limited to 45W compared to the Pro’s 67W.  Xiaomi hasn’t released specific battery life estimates, but 9,200mAh in a tablet should easily last a full day of heavy use or multiple days of light usage.

Audio and Input

Quad speakers with Dolby Atmos are also here and it should provide decent audio for media consumption. Four microphones suggest good call quality and voice recognition performance. The side-mounted fingerprint scanner doubles as the power button. You also get support for the Xiaomi Focus Touch Pen Pro and magnetic keyboard, though these are sold separately.

Connectivity features are standard as they come with WiFi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, and an IR blaster as well.  Meanwhile, Xiaomi also added a flicker sensor and color-temperature sensor.

Xiaomi Pad 8 Specifications

Xiaomi 17 Pro Max launched with a 7,500mAh battery, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5

0

Xiaomi unveiled the 17 Pro Max as the flagship of their new series at a recent Xiaomi event in Beijing. This is the bigger brother to the 17 Pro, with a larger display, massive battery, and improved camera sensors. The Xiaomi 17 series skips the 16 series in an attempt to catch up to the iPhone’s moniker, and in the meantime, it ends up replicating a similar design layout compared to the iPhone as well. However, since we have already discussed the Xiaomi 17 and 17 Pro elsewhere, here we will focus exclusively on the Pro Max, which, like the Xiaomi 17 Pro, takes the secondary display concept further while also ensuring the absolute maximum in battery life and screen real estate. Now, let’s jump into this article, where I will discuss everything about the latest Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, including its price in Nepal, specifications, and availability.

Xiaomi 17 Pro Max Overview

Design

Xiaomi 17 Pro Max design

The Pro Max weighs 219g and measures 8mm thick, which makes it significantly heavier than the regular Pro’s 192g weight but it maintains the same slim profile. The phone uses Xiaomi Dragon Crystal Glass 3 , which is an upgrade from the standard Dragon Crystal Glass on the vanilla model.

The metal frame construction matches the rest of the 17 series with that flat, iPhone-inspired design language. The rectangular camera module houses both the triple camera system and the 2.9-inch secondary display, creating a substantial bump on the back. Material-wise, you get the same premium aluminum alloy frame as the Pro. The 2.9-inch screen on the back has to work around three camera lenses plus the 3D ToF sensor, so the actual usable display area gets interrupted by these circular cutouts. Colors remain consistent with the Pro – Black, Cold Smoke Purple, Forest Green, and White.

Display

The Pro Max jumps to a 6.9-inch main display compared to the Pro’s 6.3-inch screen. That’s a significant size increase that puts it in direct competition with phones like the iPhone 17 Pro Max and Galaxy S25 Ultra (Even tho the most apt competitor to this phone would be the upcoming Xiaomi 17 Ultra). The display uses the same M10 LTPO technology as in the Xiaomi 17 Pro but adds 12-bit color support, which should improve color gradation and reduce banding.

The secondary display also grows from 2.7 inches to 2.9 inches with a resolution bump to 976 × 596 pixels. It’s still the same concept – built around the camera module for selfies, notifications, and those animated pets that reflect your phone’s state. The larger size makes it probably easier for things like music controls and reading notifications.

Both displays hit 3,500 nits peak brightness with DC dimming and support the same variable 1-120Hz refresh rates. Both Pro models get IP68 rating, but Xiaomi claims different water resistance depths. The Pro Max supposedly withstands submersion up to 6m in fresh water versus 4m for the regular Pro.

Battery

The 7,500mAh battery is the headline feature here. Xiaomi’s marketing it as “practically a power bank,” which isn’t far off.  They’re using the same silicon-carbon technology as the smaller Pro but with an L-shaped design to maximize space. The high silicon content allows for this density without making the phone ridiculously thick. Charging stays at 100W wired and 50W wireless, same as the regular Pro. The Surge G2 battery management chip promises to maintain at least 80% capacity after 2,000 charge cycles, which should translate to several years of heavy use.

Camera

Xiaomi 17 Pro max camera

The Pro Max uses the same 50MP Light Fusion 950L main sensor (1/1.28″) with f/1.67 Leica Summilux lens and OIS. The main difference is the addition of LOFIC HDR (Lateral Overflow Integration Capacitor) technology.  Where it differs significantly is the telephoto system. The Pro Max gets a 50MP Samsung ISOCELL GN8 sensor (1/2″) compared to the Pro’s smaller Samsung JN5. The larger sensor allows for a brighter f/2.6 aperture versus f/3.0 on the regular Pro, which should help with low-light telephoto shots.

Both phones offer 5x optical zoom, but the Pro Max can focus as close as 30cm for macro shots, while the Pro manages 20cm. The redesigned floating prism had to accommodate the larger sensor.

The ultrawide camera uses the same 50MP OmniVision OV50M sensor with 102° field of view across both Pro models. Front camera is identical too – 50MP OmniVision OV50M with f/2.2 aperture.

Performance and Cooling

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5

Same Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 as the Pro, which we’ve covered extensively in our chipset article. AnTuTu scores around 4 to 4.4 million, handling any current game at maximum settings. But the cooling system scales up to 5,533mm² vapor chamber compared to the Pro’s 4,637mm². The larger phone will surely for better thermal management during gaming or other performance-intensive tasks. Similarly, you are getting memory option up to 16GB and storage maxes out at 1TB, while starting at 512GB.

Software and Features

Android 16-based HyperOS 3 with the same secondary display functionality as the Pro. You get customizable themes, notifications, AI Pin for quick access to schedules or QR codes, and selfie preview using the main cameras.

The larger 2.9-inch secondary display could make some differnce. Reading notifications and controlling music playback feels less cramped compared to the Pro’s 2.7-inch screen. The Hyper XiaoAi assistant and HyperIsland features work across both displays, with contextual information appearing on whichever screen makes sense.

Xiaomi 17 is now official with a massive 7,000mAh battery and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5

0

Xiaomi just dropped its flagship series at Lei Jun’s Annual Speech 2025 in Beijing. But this time around, they’ve jumped one series from Xiaomi 15 to Xiaomi 17 series, perhaps in an attempt to catch up with iPhone (considering how the 17 Pro and Pro Max naming is now identical to iPhone’s, plus their camera module looks similar). But in this article, I will discuss everything about the latest Xiaomi 17, including its expected price in Nepal, specifications, and availability.

Xiaomi 17 Overview

Display and Design

Xiaomi 17 Design

The 6.3-inch M10 LTPO AMOLED display uses Xiaomi’s latest generation panel technology. Through which you’re getting 3,500 nits peak brightness compared to 3,200 nits on the Xiaomi 15.  Those 1.18mm uniform bezels come from LIPO packaging technology, the same method Apple uses for their Pro models.

The phone is 8.06mm thick and weighs 191g. Xiaomi calls it their “Superior R-angle design” with 1.18mm ultra-narrow bezels on all four sides. The frame has slight curves that wrap around the edges. The Dragon Crystal Glass is supposedly 10 times more drop-resistant than whatever they used before.

They’ve also bumped the water resistance to IP69, which is overkill but whatever. The rest of the specs are pretty standard. You get that flat aluminum frame, and matte glass back that doesn’t show fingerprints as much. It comes in Black, White, Blue, and Pink

Performance

The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is Qualcomm’s latest flagship chipset, which was launched yesterday. We’ve discussed this chip in detail in a separate article. This beast hits around 4 to 4.4 million in the AnTuTu benchmark. You can easily play the most demanding games at maxed-out settings. Stuff like PUBG can easily run at 120fps.

But I must remark that performance improvements in flagship phones have become boring because most people don’t need peak raw performance at all. But I’m more interested in how this chip will work out for other features, because the new Gen 5 features world’s first mobile AV1 codec support for professional video recording.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5

Anyway, the Oryon V3 Phoenix cores run at higher frequencies than the V2 generation in Xiaomi 15. Performance clusters hit 4.6 GHz versus 4.32 GHz, while efficiency cores jumped from 3.53 GHz to 3.62 GHz. The 4,497mm sq. vapor chamber covers both the main SoC and charging circuitry.

Optics

The triple 50MP setup looks identical to the Xiaomi 15 on paper. The main sensor keeps that 1/1.31″ size, but the aperture has slightly changed. The telephoto lens maintains the 10cm close focus distance as usual. But Xiaomi has now switched the ultra-wide camera from 14mm equivalent (115° FoV) to 17mm equivalent (102° FoV). You get less coverage but should see reduced barrel distortion and better edge sharpness.

The front camera jumped from 32MP to 50MP and added PDAF support. Leica’s Master Portrait Mode continues with what they claim is better hair detail rendering and more natural skin tones. The color spectrum sensor works with the laser autofocus system for white balance accuracy.

Battery

Xiaomi 17 battery

Xiaomi claims 7,000mAh capacity in a 8.06mm thick body using silicon-carbon technology with 16% silicon content. Traditional lithium-ion batteries use graphite anodes, but silicon stores more lithium. The problem has always been silicon expansion during charging cycles. But we’ve seen inflated battery claims from Chinese manufacturers before, so real-world testing will matter more than these numbers.

The 100W wired charging is up from the 15’s 90W. Reverse wireless charging doubled from 10W to 22.5W.

Connectivity and Software

Wi-Fi 7 support puts this ahead of most Android flagships still using Wi-Fi 6E. Bluetooth 5.4 adds LHDC 5 support, Qualcomm’s competitor to Sony’s LDAC codec. Similarly, Android 16 with HyperOS 3 ships out of the box. The infrared blaster remains, which most other brands have dropped.

iPhone Air Overview

Design and build quality

Measuring 5.64mm thick and weighing just 165 gm, the iPhone Air is Apple’s thinnest iPhone ever. The company’s clearly betting big on the ultra-thin form factor, banking on the “wow” factor, which most phones have failed to deliver in recent times.

Its grade 5 titanium frame gets a high-gloss mirror finish, and there’s this new “plateau” design on the back that houses the camera, speaker, and chips while maximizing battery space.

And as for durability, the iPhone Air’s display gets Ceramic Shield 2 with 3x better scratch resistance. While its backplate is protected by last-gen Ceramic Shield, which still offers 4x better crack resistance. Similarly, the Action button and Camera Control are both present here.

To save internal space, the iPhone Air doesn’t have a physical SIM slot either. Meaning it will be eSIM-only worldwide.

Display

The 6.5-inch LTPO display is bigger than the regular iPhone 17‘s 6.3-inch display. Apple’s using a Super Retina XDR OLED panel with “ProMotion” technology for a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. And since it’s also an LTPO panel, it can dynamically adjust down to 1Hz when not in use as well. Other highlights of this screen include 3,000 nits of peak brightness and Always-on display support.

Performance

Regarding performance, the iPhone Air packs the A19 Pro (3nm) instead of the regular A19 in the standard iPhone 17. The A19 Pro brings a 6-core CPU that Apple claims is the “fastest CPU in any smartphone,” plus a 5-core GPU with upgraded architecture for AAA gaming. Which is actually one less GPU core compared to the A19 Pro on the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max.

The iPhone Air also enjoys a healthy 12GB of RAM and a couple of custom Apple chips. There’s one called “C1X”, which is a cellular modem that is reportedly twice as fast as the C1 modem on the iPhone 16e. While also using 30% less power. Then there’s Apple’s new “N1” chip to handle wireless connectivity like WiFi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread.

Camera system

Getting into optics, you’re getting a single 48MP main camera with f/1.6 aperture and sensor-shift OIS technology. While there’s an 18MP “Center Stage” front camera, as the rest of the iPhone 17 lineup. This thing has a square sensor design that lets you shoot landscapes while holding the phone vertically. While its auto-framing and dual-capture features are nice touches as well.

But despite carrying only two cameras, Apple positions this as “the equivalent of four lenses”. By offering 28mm and 35mm focal lengths, plus “optical-quality” 2x telephoto cropping from the rear camera.

Battery life and charging

Despite the ultra-thin profile, Apple’s claiming “all-day battery life” with the iPhone Air. We know that it has a 3,149 mAh battery, an efficient A19 Pro chip, and an optimized internal architecture to maximize battery space. That being said, we have doubts about whether Apple can actually deliver on that promise.

Especially since Apple has designed a separate MagSafe battery accessory for this phone. And talking about MagSafe, the iPhone Air supports 20W wireless charging via both MagSafe and Qi2.

Software

The iPhone Air debuts with iOS 26. Which brings the “Liquid Glass” design language. It also supports Apple Intelligence, with features like Live Translation for real-time text and audio translation, plus updated visual intelligence features. The on-device foundation model works offline, whereas new screening tools could help filter calls and messages.
