Huami Amazfit Pop with 60 Sport Modes launched in China

Huami has launched a new budget-focused wearable. The Xiaomi backed company is known for making affordable wearables. And they had been teasing the new Amazfit Pop for quite some time now. This device seems like a rebranded Amazfit Bip U. The company launched the Amazfit Pop yesterday in China, where they revealed the specifications, features. Read along to find out more about it including the expected price in Nepal of the Huami Amazfit Pop.

Amazfit Pop Overview

This budget smartwatch comes with a 1.43-inch HD color display. It has a resolution of 320 x 302 pixels and a pixel density of 305ppi. A notable feature of the Amazfit Pop is that it’s pre-loaded with 50 watch faces. Furthermore, it supports custom watch faces too. The overall design of this smartwatch is inspired by the Apple Watch. Thus, you get a rounded-square screen with a crown on the right-hand side.

The smartwatch comes with a host of health-related features. It has the usual, SpO2 blood oxygen detection, 24 x 7 heart rate monitoring, distance traveled, and calorie tracker. Additionally, it comes with 60 different sports mode. Also, don’t worry about ruining the device while swimming as it is waterproof up to 50 meters.

Other tracking features include sleep monitoring, stress monitoring, breathing training, physiological cycle management, and PAI health assessment system. Furthermore, the device also comes with NFC. 

For people who exercise regularly, the Amazfit Pop informs them about the impact of the exercise too. For instance, it alerts the user if some training is putting an extra strain in their heart and so on. Overall, it has a host of health and fitness-related features that buyers can benefit from.

However, the device is not all about health. You get your basic features such as notification monitoring, camera controls, music controls, weather alert, alarms, and more. Huami Amazfit Pop is powered by a 225mAh battery. The company claims that the device provides 9 days of battery backup, and it takes about 2 hours to charge it.

iQOO U1x with Snapdragon 662 launched at an affordable price

iQOO is known for its premium lineup of gaming smartphones. However, for quite some time now, they are trying to ship some much affordable gaming phones. For instance, in July, we saw the company launch iQOO U1. This was iQOO’s cheapest smartphone. And now, they have launched a much affordable version of the iQOO U1 itself. The device is aptly named as the iQOO U1x. Being an affordable version of a device, the U1x does compromise on a few fronts. So, let’s find out what the iQOO U1x compromises on in comparison to U1 and also look at its expected price in Nepal.

iQOO U1x Overview

This device comes with a 6.51-inch IPS LCD panel with HD+ (1600 x 720 pixels) resolution. Now, the U1 has a 6.53-inch screen with FHD+ resolution. So, a marginal difference in the display itself. Anyway, U1x’s display has an aspect ratio of 20:9, 89% screen-to-body ratio, and 269ppi pixel density. The side bezels are thin, however, it has quite a considerable chin. There’s a waterdrop-notch upfront. And it houses an 8MP selfie shooter.

The back is a plastic panel and the design seems like the camera module is shooting rays. As for the camera module itself, it is a triple camera setup. It has a 13MP primary sensor, a 2MP depth sensor, and a 2MP macro lens.

Under the hood, iQOO U1x runs on Snapdragon 662 SoC. In contrast, the iQOO U1 sported a much powerful Snapdragon 720G chipset. The RAM options on the U1x are 4GB and 6GB. Similarly, the storage options are 64GB and 128GB.

Inside, there’s a huge 5000mAh battery with 18W fast charging. However, it charges over the dated micro USB port. Finally, as the device was launched initially in China, it does not have Google Services. However, it does come with Vivo’s Jovi AI assistant.

Huawei has launched three new devices in the Nepali market. The top of the line here is the Huawei Y8p which comes with an OLED display and 48MP triple camera setup. Let’s learn more about the Huawei Y8p in detail, including its specifications, features, official price, and availability in Nepal.

Design and Display

Like any other midrange device, Huawei Y8p comes with a notched display. The 6.3-inch OLED display has a dewdrop notch on the top to house the front camera. It is among the handful of devices that offer OLED panel in this price range. The corners are rounded and the bezels around the screen are minimal. It has helped the phone achieve a screen to body ratio of 90.17%. The screen packs in a total of 2400 x 1080 pixels with over 16.7 million colors. Since it has an OLED panel, the fingerprint sensor is now under the screen.

Huawei devices, especially in the budget and mid-range segment, tend to focus more on the design and aesthetics than the performance. And for some reason, this formula has been working for the company. The same is the case with Huawei Y8p. It comes with 3D curved edges, and the rear panel shows off what Huawei calls the “Light and Shadow” design. The color gradient on the back reminds me of the recently launched OPPO F15. Even the placements of the camera module and brand logo look similar.

Performance and Memory

While other smartphone brands are going with Helio G90T and Snapdragon 720G for lower and mid-range phones respectively, Huawei is still sticking with its Kirin 710F, paired with Mali G51 GPU. It’s the same combination that we saw in the Honor 9X International edition. The performance is okay, but comparing with what smartphones offer in the same price range, it is simply not enough. Even the Helio G90T beats Kirin 710F in benchmark tests; that too, by a big margin.

For memory, users can choose between 4GB and 6GB of RAM. Both variants come with 128GB of internal storage. If you don’t think that’s enough, you can expand it up to 256GB using Huawei’s own NM SD card.

Camera

Huawei Y8p comes with a 48MP triple camera setup. The three cameras are enclosed inside a pill-shaped camera module along with an LED flash on the top left side at the back. The 48MP primary camera has a SuperSpectrum sensor and an aperture of f/1.8. The SuperSpectrum sensor helps capture better details, even in low-light conditions. Huawei Y8p triple cameras

The technology was first used in the Huawei P30 series. You also get an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera (f/2.4) and a 2MP depth sensor (f/2.4). For selfies, there is a 16MP camera inside the dewdrop notch on top of the display.

Battery and Others

Huawei Y8p gets its juice from a 4000mAh battery, which supports 10W (5V / 2A) charging. The phone runs on Android 10 with Huawei’s EMUI 10.1 on top. If you decide to buy this phone, you will have to live without Play Store and Google Play Sevices, which are replaced with Huawei AppGallery and Huawei Mobile Services, respectively.

The smartphone supports dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz / 5 GHz) and Bluetooth 5.0. It features a USB Type-C port for charging and a 3.5mm headphone jack. For security, there is an optical fingerprint sensor beneath the screen.

Huawei has launched three new smartphones in Nepal today. Among them is the Huawei Y6p, which is the company’s offering to the competitive sub 20K market segment. Let’s take a look at the specs, features, official price, availability of Huawei Y6p in Nepal.

Here, Huawei Y6p features a 6.3-inch IPS panel with HD+ resolution (720 x 1600 pixels) and a 20:9 aspect ratio. The notch on top is a U-shaped one and it houses the 8MP selfie camera. The phone, as expected from a budget offering, has a plastic body with plastic frames. The rear panel also houses a traditional capacitive fingerprint sensor for security.

Talking of cameras, there is a triple camera setup at the rear of the phone consisting of a 13MP primary sensor. It is accompanied by a 5MP ultra-wide-angle lens. Huawei Y5p has been launched in the Nepali market. It is a budget device from Huawei that was initially launched in Romania back in March. Let’s check out the specs, features, official price, and availability of Huawei Y5p in Nepal.

Design and Display

From the front, Huawei Y5p looks like a smartphone from the distant past. The bezels around the screen make it look outdated in a time where there are budget smartphones with punch-hole, teardrop displays. It has a 5.45-inch TFT LCD panel. The screen packs a resolution of 1440 x 720 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18:9.

At the back, the device has a square bump that houses the camera setup. As always, the design on the back panel is plastic. It looks to have been inspired by Oppo’s Polar Sky design that we have seen is some of its latest releases.

Performance and Memory

Under its hood, Huawei Y5p packs in Mediatek Helio P22. It is an octa-core processor based on the 12nm FinFET process that was announced back in 2018. In real life usage, the P22’s performance is comparable to that of Snapdragon 450. Huawei has included 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage onboard. You can expand the storage via a microSD card.

Huawei Y5p comes with a single-camera setup. The 8MP camera is inside a squarish camera module along with an LED flash. From a distance, the module can trick you into believing that the device has multiple cameras. It has a 5MP selfie camera placed on the top bezel.

Samsung’s Galaxy S and Note series lineups represent the best Samsung has to offer. However, facing severe competition from flagship killers from OnePlus and Xiaomi, Samsung decided to launch Lite variants of its flagship smartphones. Samsung launched the Galaxy S10 Lite and Note 10 Lite earlier this year and they were quite well received in the market. Samsung followed it now with the Galaxy S20 Fan Edition which was revealed on Sept 23rd in the Galaxy Unpacked event; the third Unpacked event of the year by the way. The Galaxy S20 FE is an affordable take at the flagship with most of the essential specs intact. Let’s learn more about the Samsung Galaxy S20 Fan Edition including its specs, price in Nepal, availability, and more.

Samsung Galaxy S20 FE slots right in the middle of flagship-level devices and the mid-rangers. While there are some obvious compromises in the device, it still has a lot to offer. And most importantly, the S20 FE seems like a device that is perfectly tailored for these torrid times.

The device has a flat 6.5-inch AMOLED display, FHD+ resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, 240Hz touch sampling, and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. A rather thick bezel surrounds the display. There’s a small punch-hole in the middle to house the 32MP front camera. And like the other devices in the S20 lineup, this too gets an IP68 rating. 

There are two variants of the S20 FE – 4G and 5G, and they differ in terms of the specs. For instance, the 4G variants run on Exynos 990 chipset whereas the 5G variants equip the preferable Snapdragon 865 chipset. And given people’s liking for Qualcomm chipsets, I bet most will go after the 5G variant. However, not all regions will offer both variants. In the case of Nepal, we’re getting the Exynos 990 variant of Galaxy S20 FE. Anyway, in both cases, the SoC will be complemented by either 6 or 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB storage.

Matte Plastic Back

Samsung has made some compromises in terms of the rear panel. It is a matte plastic (glasstic) material, which Samsung says is an amalgamation of plastic and glass. And the camera unit seems a bit bulkier. However, the cameras itself are no joke. The setup is similar to that of the Galaxy S20. It comes with a 12MP primary sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide lens, and an 8MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. Furthermore, it also offers optical stabilization and 10x digital zoom. The 64MP telephoto lens that we saw on the S20+ is gone, so you will not be able to take 8K videos.

Other specs include a 4500mAh battery, optical fingerprint sensor, and stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support. I am worried about Samsung’s optical fingerprint sensor here as they are usually slow and responsive. Samsung uses the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor on the flagship phone, so the optical fingerprint sensor on the S20 FE seems ridiculous.

Over the past few years, Oppo has continuously expanded its ecosystem; from innumerable 5G smartphones to smart bands and whatnot. Moving on, Oppo TV R1, unlike the flagship S1, is primarily aimed at mainstream users. It comes in 2 different sizes – 55-inch and 65-inch, and despite not being a flagship, it still offers great specs. It has a 4K LCD panel with an LED backlight. The TV has a floating full-screen design and a 96% screen-to-body ratio. Furthermore, it covers 93% of the DCI-P3 color gamut.

A cool feature that the R1 packs in is the AI PQ original color rendering. It basically identifies the source scene and accurately restores the light, shadow, and color. This feature will be most appreciated by movie lovers who want an authentic movie watching experience at their home.

Oppo Smart TV R1 does not offer a 120Hz refresh rate, however, it does have MEMC. Moreover, its less powerful MediaTek MTK9652 processor too supports Wi-Fi 6.

Coolpad, a Chinese smartphone brand, made its comeback in the Nepali market with the launch of Coolpad Cool 6 earlier this month. The company has not wasted any time to expand its portfolio of products here. The latest of its offering is the Coolpad Cool X, which the company launched today. Design and Display

Coolpad Cool X has a massive 7.12-inch display with an FHD+ resolution. The display features a waterdrop notch on the top that encloses the front camera. The device has thick bezels surrounding the screen which is quite evident. The bezel on the chin of the Coolpad Cool X is much bigger than the other three sides.

At the back, there is an elongated pill-shaped camera module that houses the dual-camera setup along with a flash. The physical fingerprint scanner is also mounted on the rear panel.

Performance and Camera

Under the hood, Coolpad has included Helio P23. It’s an octa-core chipset introduced two years ago. It consists of 8 Arm Cortex-A53 cores with a clock speed of up to 2.5GHz (typical 2.3GHz). For memory, the device features 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Coolpad Cool X ships with Android 9 which is quite dated for a device launching in 2020.

Talking about the camera, the device flaunts a dual-camera setup on the back. It consists of a 16MP primary camera paired with a secondary camera with a 0.3MP sensor. On the front, Coolpad has enclosed the 13MP selfie camera inside the waterdrop notch.

At IFA 2020, Realme announced that the company will be launching its second smartwatch in the last quarter of the year. It has already been confirmed that Realme will be walking away from Reame Watch‘s Apple-inspired squarish design. Instead, the upcoming Watch S Pro will feature a circular display. It will have two buttons located on the right side. Rumors suggest that Realme will be opting for a 1.39-inch display with a resolution of 454 x 454 pixels. Another upgrade from the original Realme Watch will be the inclusion of an AMOLED panel. The FCC listing suggests the smartwatch will weigh around 64.5 grams.

Additionally, it will come with a wide range of health and fitness tracking options. For instance: a pedometer, an optical heart sensor, and a SpO2 sensor to name a few. Realme Watch S will also have an IP68 rating.

Design

Like most of the Android earbuds these days, the Oppo Enco X also takes inspiration from Apple’s AirPods lineup. It is an in-ear earphone with silicone ear tips. The stem of the Oppo Enco X is rather short. It also gets bulky as we get to its end. Enco X is available in three different color options – Black, White, and Green. Oppo Enco X Design

Talking about the charging case, it measures 66.3 x 49 x 21.7mm and weighs around 52.5 grams. It has an LED indicator on the front. The elliptical shape of the case is quite evident when the lid is closed. Together with the two earbuds, the whole setup weighs around 52.5 grams.

Internals

For the Enco X, Oppo has adopted a new arrangement of internal components, which the company is addressing as a coaxial dual-unit design. The superconducting magnetic plane diaphragm unit is placed on the front while the tri-layer composite ring unit is on the rear side. Similarly, to improve noise reduction, Oppo has included a dual-core chip along with a dual-feed microphone. Another highlight of Enco X is the support for Bluetooth 5.2. Features

To improve the sound quality of the Enco X, Oppo has collaborated with Dynaudio. Oppo adds that the Enco X was made after 30 materials exploration, 120 wheel structural modifications, 152 device selections in Dynaudio Research Development Center. To bring Hi-Fi sound to the new earbuds, the company has also developed a new DBEE 3.0 sound system. Basically, it is the successor to DBEE Dynamic Sound that Oppo developed back in 2007. Users can now use LHDC audio codes along with more basic SBC and AAC. However, this feature is limited to select Oppo devices running ColorOS 7.1 and ColorOS 11. As stated earlier, its noise reduction technology uses two feed microphones. A third microphone helps you to connect to calls. There is also a low-latency mode which reduced the latency of a full-link transmission to just 94ms. It is available on both Android and iOS devices.

The 44mAh battery on each earbud is rated for 4 hours and 5.5 hours with strong noise reduction mode and noise reduction mode turned on, respectively. Likewise, Enco X’s 553mAh battery on the charging case extends it up to 20 hours and 25 hours, respectively. The earbuds take around 80 minutes to charge from 0 to 100%.
