How to get NTC eSIM online/offline? Find the process here

Nepal Telecom Corporation (NTC) has finally launched the much-anticipated eSIM service in the country. This state-owned telecom giant has signed an agreement with a UK-based company to provide eSIM services to its customers. In this post, we will be discussing the key features of eSIM and its implementation, and also discussing the process of how to get NTC eSIM in Nepal.

Nepal Telecom (NTC) eSIM implementation:

What is an eSIM?

eSIM or Embedded SIM is a digital SIM that allows you to use cellular services from the telecom operator without having to use a physical SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) card. That means there’s no need to insert a physical card into the phone. Instead, the telco operator will remotely connect your device to their network and provide you with a mobile number and its services.

Also, the information on an eSIM is rewritable, meaning you can decide to change your operator with a simple phone call. This technology is backed by GSMA which has defined the standards for eSIM worldwide.

Advantages of eSIM:

  • Easier to switch network operator
  • Supports dual-SIM connectivity
  • Takes up less space than traditional SIM cards

Disadvantages of eSIM:

  • Switching between smartphones is tedious
  • Can be comparatively easier to track

eSIM compatible phones

eSIM implementation by Nepal Telecom (NTC)

Nepal Telecom is the first carrier to allow eSIM connection in Nepal. The telecom operator allocated a budget for the project in the fiscal year 2078/79 to deploy its own eSIM platform. Similarly, NTC signed an arrangement with Monty UK Global Limited in April 2022 to provide an eSIM platform to the company.

NTC eSIM

NTC’s eSIM has now been available in Nepal from Bhadra 31, 2079 (September 16, 2022). The company had only allocated 50 units for distribution on the first day—that too from a single branch office (Sundhara). However, you can now get eSIM from all other Nepal Telecom counters outside the Kathmandu Valley as well.

How to know if my phone supports eSIM?

Okay, before you get in line to upgrade to an eSIM, it’s crucial to know whether your smartphone supports eSIM or not. The general rule of thumb is that if you have a relatively new flagship phone or tablet, then it might support eSIM. But to be really sure, simply dial “*#06#”.

eSIM Compatibility Check

If your device is indeed eSIM compatible, you should see an EID (Embedded Identification Document) value pop-up alongside the IMEI numbers. You can also get this info under the “Status Information” section (it might have a different name depending on your phone’s manufacturer) inside the Settings. Or, you can also check the phone’s product page to learn about its eSIM compatibility.

How to get NTC eSIM in Nepal?

  • All existing prepaid and postpaid customers of NTC are eligible for the eSIM upgrade at the cost of 50 rupees.
  • If you are looking to buy a new eSIM, it will bear the charge of a new physical SIM card; 90 rupees plus 50 rupees as an e-SIM conversion charge.
  • You can do it online via Nepal Telecom app or visit any NTC office near your home to get an eSIM.
  • To do it online, all you need is to fill out a form, and then submit it with an original photo of the official document. But do note, you must have the document in hand to do so, the app/website doesn’t allow uploading from gallery.
  • And you’ll get a QR code sent to your email.
  • If you have some spare time, you can visit the NTC office counter and submit the same form offline with the photocopy of your citizenship (both sides) attached. That’s it.

An NT staff will then proceed to activate eSIM on your phone. The whole process takes like 3-5 minutes, provided that you’re already at the front of the queue. You will also receive a piece of paper with a QR code, ICCID (Integrated Circuit Card ID) number, and an activation code in case you want to switch phones. But in case you want to revert back to a physical SIM card, Nepal Telecom says you’re gonna have to visit their office yet again and fill out a form requesting so.

How to set up eSIM on your phone?

  • To set up an eSIM (whether you have an Android or iOS device), open up the Settings menu and search for “Add Mobile Plan” (Android) or “Add Cellular Plan” (iPhone).
  • This option might have a different name depending on the Android smartphone manufacturer, but you should find it under the “SIM Card Manager” menu inside Settings.
  • Now, you will get an option to scan a QR code with your eSIM profile. Just follow the on-screen instructions to customize the plan name if required. And voilà, your NTC eSIM is ready!

iPhone 14 / 15 series purchased from the US will work in Nepal?

Apple announced the iPhone 14 series with eSIM-only models for the US region and the trend was followed with the iPhone 15 Series as well. So users might be unsure whether US variants of the latest iPhones will work in Nepal. So, let’s talk about it here.

There are a few factors that influence the use of the latest iPhones in Nepal. First off, the Nepal Telecommunication Authority (NTA) has implemented its long-awaited Mobile Device Management System (MDMS) service from September 15, 2022.

So any smartphone brought into Nepal from foreign countries—including the US—will now be considered grey or illegally imported devices if they’re not registered under the system. And such devices will be effectively blocked from the network of all telecom operators in Nepal.

But the entire MDMS thing has kinda gone back and forth with so-called full implementations to website crashing and whatnot! However, to be on the safe side, your iPhone must be registered under MDMS to use an eSIM in Nepal.

iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max - Natural Titanium

Besides MDMS, the other important factor to consider when purchasing the latest iPhone from the US is cellular connectivity. As mentioned earlier, the iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 lineup in the US only supports eSIM. So to enable cellular connectivity on those devices here in Nepal, you will also require a telecom operator that provides an eSIM facility.

And since Nepal Telecom now offers eSIM to its customers, you will be able to use the iPhone 14 series without any trouble. Granted that you have registered the phone under MDMS, of course.

Some Frequently Asked Questions about NTC eSIM

Does eSIM function as a regular SIM card?

Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro launched with triple drivers dual amp setup!

0

Alongside the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, SU7 Ultra, and the RedmiBook Pro 16, Xiaomi also lifted the curtains on a brand new pair of earbuds. The Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro is the successor to the Buds 4 Pro but brings in a couple of surprises like a triple driver setup and distinct Bluetooth and WiFi versions! Here we’ll take a quick glimpse at the Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro alongside its features, and specifications, with expected price in Nepal and availability details.

Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro Overview

Triple Drivers for the Win

The Buds 5 Pro are the first consumer TWS earbuds to feature a ‘dual amplifier triple driver’ setup. They use a coaxial triple driver configuration with an 11mm dynamic driver and a 10mm ceramic tweeter. This setup enables a wider frequency range, from 15Hz to 50,000Hz, delivering deep bass, clear mids, and sparkling highs. The dual-amplifier system complements this design by providing dedicated power to each driver as needed, optimizing performance across frequencies.

Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro Drivers

Bunch of Features

These buds ship with tons of audio features, but let’s start things off with Xiaomi’s spatial audio with dynamic head tracking and personalized audio. These provide immersive listening experience by tailoring spatial audio to your needs based on your ear structure. Cool. The buds are also tuned to the Harman Curve with a ‘Harman Master’ sound profile to provide the most appealing audio experience.

There’s also AI – of course – that’s able to translate speech to text real time with a 98.7% accuracy. Besides that, there is face-to-face translation and simultaneous interpretation that enables conversation between individuals speaking different languages.

The Buds 5 Pro features 55dB Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) covering a 5kHz range. For calls, the 3 mic setup uses AI noise reduction, supposedly eliminating up to 100dB of background noise.

Design and Battery Life

The Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro look like your typical pair of in-ear silicon buds but with a slight premium touch. The buds feature a glossy accent on their stem with cut outs for microphones and a flattened side for touch controls. The Case features a dual tone design with a glossy top and a matte bottom housing a small LED indicator for charging and pairing! The Bluetooth variant is only available in Black colorway while the WiFi version gets White and Gold options.

Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro Design

The case houses a 570 mAh battery offering up to 40 hours of playback on the total. The buds themselves either sport a smaller 53mAh or 64mAh cell depending on the variant. Xiaomi says you can expect up to 8 hours of battery life on the standard model while the WiFi unit will last 10 hours.

Connectivity and Extras

Xiaomi’s Buds 5 Pro support Qualcomm’s ‘aptX Lossless’ audio for 24-bit high res audio transmission at up to 2.1 Mbps via Bluetooth. The WiFi edition pulls ahead here supporting audio transmission at a whopping 4.2Mbps over WiFi. Pair that with the latest Xiaomi 15 Ultra (or other compatible devices) and you can get studio grade lossless audio wirelessly!

Razer Blade 18 (2025) is official with a 440Hz screen and RTX 5090!

0

So, there we have it folks, the top of the line Blade 18 has hit the market with a mind-bogglingly fast screen, new Intel processors, and the RTX 5090. There’s a lot more to love about this Razer Blade so let’s get right into the features, specifications, and expected price in Nepal of the Razer Blade 18 (2025).

Razer Blade 18 (2025) Overview

Design and Display

Like all Razer Blades, the new Blade 18 is a high-end machine CNC milled from a single block of aluminum. The brand touts it as the “most powerful Razer Blade” ever with new hardware from Intel and NVIDIA packed inside. Although it’s an 18” inch gaming machine, Razer is proud of its slimmest in class chassis that the Blades are loved for! The Blade 18 is available in Black and Mercury color options.

Razer Blade 18 2025 design

Moving on to the screen, Razer says that the Blade 18 (2025) has the ‘world’s first 18” dual mode display’. It basically lets you switch between UHD (4K) at 240Hz or FHD+ at a whopping 440Hz! What a treat! Besides that, the panel is Calman verified for true to life like color out of the box, has 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 gamut, and supports G-SYNC.

Performance and Memory

Under the hood, you can configure the Razer Blade 18 (2025) with an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX processor with 24 cores and threads alongside a 5.4 GHz boost clock. Surprisingly, Razer has opted out of offering the top of the line 285HX from Intel’s Arrow Lake HX lineup, but maybe it’s because the two only have a slight difference in maximum frequency which should not affect performance that much!

For the GPU, you have tons of options from NVIDIA’s 40 and 50 series. The latter brings support for DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Gen that can boost performance up to 4x using AI generated frames. Going all the way will get you the RTX 5090 Mobile with 24GB of VRAM that can ask as much as 175W from the system!

Drawing up to 280W (175W GPU + 105W CPU) can generate some serious heat, so the Blade 18 (2025) is equipped with the biggest vapor chamber in a Razer Blade yet alongside a three-fan setup and improved thermal gel.

Razer Blade 18 2025 cooling

Memory wise, you can configure your Blade with up to 64GB of DDR5-5600 RAM on purchase with upgradibility down the road. On the storage front, Razer offers up to a 4TB (2TB + 2TB) configuration but the dual M.2 slots can go up to 8TB in total.

Thunderbolt 5 and Connectivity

The Blade 18 (2025) is one of the very few laptops to support Thunderbolt 5 which brings a big improvement in data bandwidth up to 120Gbps! There’s also another Type-C port (Thunderbolt 4), WiFi 7, HDMI 2.1, and Bluetooth 5.4, alongside a 2.5Gb ethernet port. There are multiple Type-A ports, alongside a UHS-II card reader, and a headphone microphone combo jack.

Bells and Whistles: Everything Else

Getting the newest Blade 18 means you also get special treatment in a lot of other areas like an improved keyboard with better feedback, a total of six speakers, and a high-res 5MP webcam.

Since the Arrow Lake HX processor also has an NPU (Neural Processing Unit), Razer also mentions the use of various AI features in Windows like Cocreate, Live Captions, and Recall!

Samsung 9100 Pro SSD arrives as the fastest consumer drive yet!

0

Samsung has just unveiled the 9100 Pro series, which is now the world’s fastest consumer SSD, boasting a mind-blowing read speed of 14.8 GB/s. In this article, let’s break down what makes this SSD special.

9100 Pro SSD Overview

Samsung is stepping into the world of high-performance PCIe 5.0 storage with their new 9100 Pro SSD. This drive has four lanes and supports the NVMe 2.0 protocol, allowing it to achieve lightning-fast read speeds of 14.8 GB/s. It’s a huge leap forward in SSD technology.

9100 Pro SSD

Available Sizes and Performance

When it launches in March, the Samsung 9100 Pro will be available in 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB options, all in the M.2 form factor. You’ll also be able to choose between a version with or without a heatsink. There’s more! In the second half of 2025, a huge 8TB version will be released as well.

  • 1TB & 2TB Models: 14,700 MB/s read speed, 13,300 MB/s write speed (2TB gets a slight boost with 13,400 MB/s write speed).
  • 4TB & 8TB Models: These are the top performers, reaching 14,800 MB/s read speed and 13,400 MB/s write speed.

How better compared to previous models?

When compared to Samsung’s previous 980 Pro, the 9100 Pro blows it away. The new drive’s random read and write speeds are at least twice as fast, with 2.2 million IOPS for reading and 2.6 million IOPS for writing. It’s a huge improvement in overall performance.

Efficiency and Durability

The 9100 Pro uses a new version of Samsung’s TLC V8 V-NAND flash and comes with their custom-built “Presto” SSD controller. Thanks to this new tech, the drive is more power-efficient than before, using less energy while providing top-notch speed. The 9100 Pro also offers better thermal control and energy consumption, especially with the heatsink version, which ensures the drive stays cool and lasts longer.

Why should you consider the 9100 Pro?

If you’re into heavy tasks like photo/video editing, creating AI content, or gaming, I think the Samsung 9100 Pro SSD is worth considering. It offers incredible speed, reliability, and a solid storage solution for laptops, desktops, and even PlayStation consoles.

Vivo X200 Pro review: The flagship phone to beat in 2025!

Alright. So today I have the all-new Vivo X200 Pro in for review. This is the first time Vivo has launched its flagship “X” series phone in Nepal — and I must say — the X200 Pro is a fantastic way to break that tradition. That’s mostly because this is such a fantastic camera phone that Apple and Samsung finally have something to be scared about.

Vivo X200 Pro review:

Cameras

  • Triple camera setup at the back
  • (50MP main, 50MP ultrawide, 200MP periscope telephoto)
  • 32MP selfie camera (hole-punch cutout)
  • Vivo V3+ imaging chip

Vivo X200 Pro Camera

And I wanna start my review of the Vivo X200 Pro with the cameras itself. Last time’s Vivo X100 Pro (review) shocked me with its great portraits, and I absolutely fell in love with the Xiaomi 14 Ultra (review)’s 3x floating camera. Its macro photos, the Leica black and white portraits. They were stunning! And this thing here shows that the gap between the camera quality from Chinese brands and Apple/Samsung is getting narrower!

The X200 Pro has a fresh new 200MP 3.7x periscope zoom lens this time, which is quite a departure from the 48MP or 50MP 5x we usually see from Apple and Samsung.

With this, I found that 85mm (3.7x) is the perfect focal length to click portraits since you don’t have to go too far away. And since this sensor has a monstrous 200 megapixels’ worth resolution, I can also click 135mm (6x) portraits without compromising on the details. A genius move from Vivo and gives me a lot of flexibility.

Vivo has also been collaborating with Zeiss for all these years and I feel like that is truly starting to shine! I have clicked well over 100 portraits from the X200 Pro and they look stunning with precise edge detection and blur levels.

The bokeh it’s able to produce is easily the best I have seen on a smartphone. The skin tone is slightly processed and brightened — yes — and they might not look the most natural. But it is social media ready, and I don’t have to edit in post. This is also a pretty fast periscope lens with an f/2.67 aperture, so it’s perfect for taking it out on the streets for those sharp, crisp, and in-focus images.

I also liked all the different bokeh flares that Vivo provides in the camera app and different modes like black and white portraits which, again, come out fabulous.

And the funny thing is that this 200MP sensor is Samsung-made. It’s the 200MP ISOCELL HP9 sensor to be precise, and you won’t find any Samsung phone using it. Even when I compared it with the Galaxy S25 Ultra (review), I prefer X200 Pro’s portraits more. The way it maintains subject focus and background bokeh is just… too good.

I can also shoot macro photos with excellent details and clarity at 3.7x, 7.4x, and 10x zoom levels from this sensor, by the way. This is a much better implementation than Apple and Samsung, where you need to take closeup shots from the ultrawide lens.

Photos from the main 50MP camera of the X200 Pro are also hard not to like. It has plenty of details and excellent dynamic range even in the most challenging condition like this! The white balance is consistent almost all the time, although I found that its photos have that extra punch in colors even when shooting in “Zeiss Natural” mode.

Even during low light conditions, you will find plenty of details and nice exposure handling. And compared to the S25 Ultra, it controls noise much better too.

The third lens is an ultra-wide angle camera, which unfortunately remains unchanged from last year. So, it’s slightly behind the likes of Pixel and iPhone. The field of view is narrower and it’s not as bright or sharp as the main lens. Whereas I noticed how the X200 Pro likes to smoothen out the subject’s skin tone in selfies.

Moving on, Vivo has also upgraded the videography aspect from last year. You can shoot 4K 60 fps from all the cameras — including from the front camera — which was missing on the X100 Pro. And when I compared it with the S25 Ultra, I noticed how everything from colors to dynamic range and stabilization are so similar between them. The iPhone 16 Pro Max (review) still shoots the steadiest videos I’ve seen on a smartphone, but the X200 Pro is a close second.

This thing can also shoot portrait videos, 10-bit Log videos, 4K 120 fps slow-mo videos, so yeah. The Vivo X200 Pro is an excellent camera phone with every single feature that you’d expect from a flagship device.

Design and build

  • 162.36 x 75.95 x 8.20 – 8.49 mm, 223 – 228 grams
  • Glass front/back, aluminum alloy frames
  • IP68 + IP69 rating

Ok, I think I have talked enough about its camera now. And you know what? Other aspects of the Vivo X200 Pro are equally nice. First of all, although Vivo didn’t bother with a completely new design language this year, it still looks every bit as premium.

Vivo X200 Pro - Design

And instead of curved sides, we now get flat frames like on Apple and Samsung flagships. Vivo has also included an official IP68 and IP69 rating, which means it can stand full-on submersion and even high-temperature water jets!

Plus, even though there’s a big 6,000 mAh silicon carbon battery inside of this thing, the X200 Pro doesn’t feel that heavy. My only little complaint is that maybe Vivo could’ve chamfered the edges around that giant camera ring ’cause it’s quite sharp.

Display

  • 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED panel
  • 120Hz refresh rate, 4,500 nits peak brightness (HDR)

Moving on, the Vivo X200 Pro’s display is just as top-notch too. Vivo has gone with Chinese display maker BOE this time as well, and it. has. everything.

Vivo X200 Pro Display

Including a smooth 120Hz refresh rate to an LTPO backplane that drops the refresh rate to just 1Hz to save power, 2,160Hz PWM dimming, Dolby Vision, HDR10+ playback on OTT platforms, and 4,500 nits of peak brightness. Whereas it can also hit almost 2,000 nits in auto brightness mode outdoors!

Vivo has also upgraded to an ultra-sonic fingerprint sensor this year which seems to be a trend among most Chinese smartphone makers. Like iQOO, OnePlus, OPPO, Realme, and Xiaomi. This means the fingerprint sensor is now located at a perfect location, and it can unlock when my hands are wet!

I found its stereo speakers to be of excellent quality as well. Similar to what you get on the iPhone 16 Pro Max and Galaxy S25 Ultra. Plus, the X200 Pro also has a fantastic vibration motor so whether you’re typing up a message or getting a call, you’re gonna love its haptic feedback.

Performance

  • MediaTek Dimensity 9400 5G (3nm)
  • 16GB LPDDR5X RAM, 512GB UFS 4.0 storage (fixed)
  • Android 15 with Vivo’s Funtouch OS 15.0 on top
  • 4 years of OS and 5 years of security updates

The Vivo X200 Pro is also one of the few phones to be powered by MediaTek’s flagship Dimensity 9400 chip. If you wanna know more about this processor, I suggest you watch my comparison video where I put it next to the Snapdragon 8 Elite and Apple’s A18 Pro!

I know you might be skeptical about a MediaTek chipset on a flagship phone, but you should know that the company’s processors are as good as the ones from Qualcomm and Apple. And whatever the differences may be, they are negligibly minimal.

Vivo X200 Pro Gaming

And overall, I am very happy with the Vivo X200 Pro’s performance. Everything just feels so smooth. You can play most AAA games at a smooth 120 fps with excellent stability, while even games like Genshin Impact run well here without any hiccups or overheating at the highest of graphics settings.

As for the software, this guy boots up on Android 15 with Vivo’s new Funtouch OS 15. And I must say this new version of Funtouch OS has much better-looking icons, animations, and transitions which makes things like app-opening and multitasking super fast and intuitive. There are a bunch of AI features baked in as well, while Vivo also commits to 4 major Android upgrades and 5 years of security updates for the X200 Pro.

Having said that, I feel like Funtouch OS 15 still falls behind Samsung’s One UI in terms of the overall software experience. I know Vivo has been continually improving its Android fork year after year — but like all the hardware upgrades — I can’t wait to see a big overhaul in its software department as well.

Battery

  • 6,000 mAh battery (90W wired charging)
  • 90W power adapter inside the box
  • 30W wireless charging support

I wanna talk about its battery life next. And as I mentioned above, Vivo’s latest flagship phone packs a massive 6,000 mAh silicon-carbon battery.

Vivo X200 Pro Charging Pair that with a super-efficient LTPO AMOLED display and a super-efficient 3nm chip, I am easily getting like 7 hours of screen time even under a heavy usage pattern. This thing has even lasted me more than 10 hours on days when I wasn’t doing much of anything. And with the 90W power brick included inside the box, the X200 Pro goes from 0 – 75% in just 32 minutes. While a complete refill takes only 45 minutes.

Vivo X200 Pro review: Conclusion

Okay, so let me wrap up my Vivo X200 Pro review now. And after daily-driving this phone for more than 2 months, I must admit I’ve been incredibly impressed with this thing. Particularly with its cameras since no matter what phone I compare it with, I prefer the X200 Pro’s results more.

To be honest, the so-called “industry leaders” like Apple and Samsung have been super lazy with their smartphone innovations lately. And when it comes to cameras, Chinese brands like Vivo, Honor, Xiaomi, and Huawei have been leading the charge.

So if you’re a tech enthusiast who wants a state-of-the-art smartphone, if you want excellent cameras — especially for street photography and shooting portraits — then I’m sure you’re gonna love the Vivo X200 Pro. And I’m really happy how the Nepali smartphone industry finally has actual competition in the premium space other than Apple’s “Pro Max” iPhone and Samsung’s “Ultra” Galaxy.
