Lenovo announced new iterations for almost all of its laptops back in January at CES 2024. One of those SKUs was the Gen 9 of the IdeaPad Slim 5 series, which is now available in Nepal as well. In this article, let’s take a deeper dive into the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5i Gen 9 (2024), its specifications, official price in Nepal, and availability details.

Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5i Gen 9 (2024) Overview:

Design and Display

Starting off with how the IdeaPad looks and feels, you’ll not find many changes from the predecessor. Both 14-inch and 16-inch variants look very much like their Gen 8 counterparts, but while the chassis remains untouched for the former, the new IdeaPad Slim 5i 16 is a bit heavier now. Starting at 1.89 kg. There’s also a 15-inch model in the mix, but since it’s not available here yet, we’ll save that for later.

Anyways, the variants that have landed in Nepal feature a metal build with an aluminum top/bottom, but plastic-built IdeaPads are also available in other markets. Colors-wise, you get your standard Cloud Grey and Abyss Blue options.

Getting into the display, you can purchase the IdeaPad Slim 5i Gen 9 with IPS and OLED screens. The 14-inch screen offers WUXGA (1920 x 1200) resolution, while the 16-inch offers up to a 2K one. Brightness, color coverage, and coating depend on the configuration of the panel. These can range from a 300-nit matte display with 45% NTSC colors to a 400-nit glossy with full DCI-P3 gamut coverage.

Performance and Memory

Under the hood of the brand new IdeaPad Slim 5i Ultrabooks, you are getting brand new Intel Core Ultra 5 and Ultra 7 processors based on the newer Intel 4nm process. Not only are these chips faster than last-generation “Raptor Lake” processors, but they are also more efficient and feature much more powerful integrated graphics.

Intel Arc graphics in these Meteor Lake SoCs are said to be up to twice as powerful as their predecessors. A perfect combo of power and efficiency, ideal for ultrabooks like the IdeaPad Slim 5.

In terms of memory, you get up to 32GB of fast RAM, but unfortunately, it’s soldered to the motherboard. Similar is the story with storage, where you get up to 1TB of Gen 4 SSD but no extra slots in the IdeaPad Slim 5i (2024).

Battery and Connectivity

Moving on to the endurance side of things, there are three different battery configurations in total: an underwhelming 47 Wh one, a respectable 57 Wh one, and a jumbo 76 Wh cell. All IdeaPad Slim 5i models currently available in Nepal have a 57Wh battery regardless of the size. The 14-inch model supports up to 65W charging, while the 16-inch can accept 100W.

Despite the larger chassis, you don’t get any extra ports on the IdeaPad Slim 5i 16. Both models share two USB-C, two USB-A, an HDMI, a micro SD card reader, and a 3.5mm jack.

Apple recently updated its iPad Air lineup for 2024 and it comes in two different screen sizes: 11″ and 13″. And alongside the M4 iPad Pro, Apple’s latest iPad Air is now available in Nepal as well. Design and Display

The overall design of the latest iPad Air remains unchanged from its predecessors. As such, it has the same monotone finish and comes with a single camera on the back. It ships in four color options: Blue, Purple, Starlight, and Space Grey. While the Apple iPad Air (2024) looks the same for the most part, it is available in two screen sizes for the first time.

Performance

Meizu might not be the most popular name in the smartphone world, but this Chinese smartphone maker provides value-for-money products. The Meizu Note 16 Series has debuted in China, and its specs are exciting for its price. We have two models under the Meizu Note 16 Series— Meizu Note 16 and Note 16 Pro. Addressing the design side, the Pro version comes with a flat frame body and a big circular camera module on its rear. MediaTek is keeping its 4G chipsets relevant with the introduction of the Helio G200, the latest in its long-running Helio G-series. Although the name implies a significant advancement, the G200 is more of a subtle improvement over its predecessors. Here in this article, we’ll walk through the specs and features of the Mediatek Helio G200 SoC.

Mediatek Helio G200 Overview

6nm Architecture

At its core, the Mediatek Helio G200 still runs on the 6nm TSMC N6 node, just like the Helio G99 and G100. It also retains the same octa-core CPU setup, with two Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.2GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores at 2.0GHz. The key change lies in the GPU, where the Mali-G57 MC2 sees a modest bump from 1.0GHz to 1.1GHz, delivering slightly better graphics performance — a welcome but incremental gain. So, we can expect a slight improvement, although not much.

Display and Memory Support

In terms of display, the Helio G200 is capable of powering Full HD+ displays with refresh rates up to 120Hz, making it a good fit for budget mid-range devices. You also get the support for LPDDR4X RAM at speeds up to 4,266Mbps and UFS 2.2 storage, just like its predecessors

It will provide you with a 5-second output, which is pretty fun to share on social media.

What else will be on the Honor 400 Series?

As of the latest leaks, two devices have been mentioned so far: Honor 400 and Honor 400 Pro. The regular Honor 400 will feature a 6.55-inch flat AMOLED display, while the Pro model will come with a slightly larger 6.7-inch AMOLED panel featuring curved edges on all sides. Both displays will offer a smooth 120Hz refresh rate and an impressive peak brightness of 5,000 nits with HDR support.

Honor is also rumored to be working on an even smaller model in the series, possibly with a 6.3-inch screen. In terms of design, the Honor 400 and 400 Pro will closely resemble the Huawei Pura 70 Ultra.
