The truth about sleeping next to your phone: Should you worry?

0

The last thing I do before bed is check my phone, I guess we all have been there. Whether it’s scrolling through social media, watching a video, or texting a friend, the phone ends up as our final bedtime friend. And when we’re finally done, we just place it next to our side, maybe even under the pillow. Sure, it’s not the best habit, but it’s what most of us do. Is it bad to sleep next to your phone? Well, let’s unpack that.

Is your phone really that dangerous?

You’ve probably heard the rumors that your phone’s radiation will give you brain cancer or fry your brain while you sleep. But here’s the thing: there’s no solid scientific evidence to back up these claims. Yes, phones do emit radiation in the form of radiofrequency (RF) waves, but before you panic, let’s break it down.

Your body is a pretty well-designed machine, and it has ways to deal with RF waves. Your body parts absorb these waves and convert them into heat making the radiation no harmful.

Sleeping next to your phone is not dangerous
Image: yahoo

Now, before you roll your eyes and think I’m just trying to make you feel better, let me dive into the science for a moment. What actually causes cancer is ionizing radiation that is found in X-rays or radon. This type of radiation is capable of damaging DNA and potentially leading to cancer. But you know what? Cell phones emit non-ionizing radiation, which doesn’t have the power to damage your DNA. In fact, the U.S. National Cancer Institute (NCI) itself confirms that cell phone radiation doesn’t cause cancer.

Still skeptical? Let’s talk about something you’ll see on your phone packaging: the SAR value. This stands for the Specific Absorption Rate, and it measures how much RF energy your body absorbs when using the phone. Phones are tested using dummy models of human heads and bodies filled with liquid to mimic how tissues absorb RF energy. The test measures how much energy is absorbed at the highest power level and in the worst possible scenarios.

In short: most phones meet the safety standards (1.6W/kg), which means they’re perfectly fine in terms of radiation exposure. So, next time someone warns you to keep your phone miles away from your bed, just remind them that it’s all good to keep it close.

SAR for body

But wait… there’s another side to the story

Alright, before you go back to sleeping with your phone under your pillow let’s flip the coin. There’s another side to the story, and it’s not about radiation. It’s about sleep quality.

While your phone might not be radioactive, it could be messing with your sleep. Ever wondered why it’s so hard to fall asleep after a Netflix binge or a few rounds of doom-scrolling through Twitter? Well, that’s because of the blue light your phone emits and the brain-stimulating content you’re consuming. Both of these things can trick your brain into thinking it’s still daytime, making it harder for you to fall into a restful sleep. And let’s not even get started on the noise notifications, pings, and calls that can wake you up in the middle of the night and make it tough to get back to sleep.

keeping phone next to you can cause sleep disturbance

The bottom line

So, here’s the conclusion: no, sleeping next to your phone won’t cause a deadly disease, but it might mess with your sleep quality. Your phone’s radiation isn’t the villain here, but the blue light and midnight notifications might be.

The popular earbuds could soon include sensors for heart rate and temperature monitoring, bringing them closer to the health-focused features already seen in Apple’s other products like the Apple Watch. In this article, we will discuss furthermore about the upcoming AirPods Pro.

Apple AirPods Pro Rumors

A new invention?

Apple AirPods Pro 2nd Generation - Design 1

While the new health-tracking capabilities might sound exciting, a quick reminder that these features aren’t really a new invention. Many other earbuds already include similar sensors. For instance, brands like Sennheiser and Jabra have already incorporated heart rate sensors in their earbuds, and some models even offer temperature monitoring. The Soundcore Liberty 4, the one I own, also includes heart rate sensors and works well in tracking health metrics. Apple is simply following the trend and bringing these features to its AirPods Pro lineup.

Health Sensors in the AirPods Pro

The AirPods Pro are rumored to include sensors for heart rate and temperature mapping. These updates align with Apple’s broader focus on expanding health tracking across its devices. Meanwhile, Apple has also reportedly revisited the idea of adding a camera to the AirPods. With Apple’s artificial intelligence in play, AI could also be a key focus for this product line.  However, there are no confirmed details on when these features will launch or if additional health-related functionalities will be included.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra will feature the first ever 2nd gen Gorilla Armor Glass

As with the tradition, Samsung Galaxy plans to launch a new smartphone of its S series this January or early February. A lot of work is going into the upcoming flagship phone, and we have some insight on the improved glass and other exciting details In this article, we’ll explore the latest rumors and anticipated details surrounding the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, including its specifications and more.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra Rumors Roundup

2nd-gen Gorilla Armor Glass

Samsung Galaxy S25 Rumors

The latest update on the Galaxy S25 Ultra suggests it will feature next-gen Gorilla Glass Armor, building on the S24 Ultra’s innovations. While the S24 introduced the first use of this technology with an anti-reflective coating, the S25 is rumored to offer improved anti-reflective properties and enhanced durability, further strengthening Samsung’s exclusive partnership with Corning

Ultra Slim Bezels

Popular tipster, Ice Universe has previously stated that the S25 Ultra will boast even thinner bezels than the competition, even beating the Xiaomi 15 and iPhone 16 Pro Max which have super thin bezels. So, Samsung is aiming for gold in the bezels matter with the S25 Ultra.

As for the design, the Samsung S25 Ultra closely resembles the Samsung S24 Ultra with a 5-ring setup at the rear, thin bezels up front, a hole punch screen, and a fully flat frame and sides.

This smartphone weighs 219g making it lighter than the S24 Ultra. Previously, only the Black variant was leaked, but ICe Universe has also hinted blue and white color options.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra Design and Display
Image: OnleaksxAndroidHeadline

Following the previous pattern, we can speculate the display of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra to again be a 6.8-inch Super AMOLED 2X screen. It will measure the dimension of 162.8×77.6×8.2mm. For protection, it will come with a Gorilla Glass Armor.

Snapdragon 8 Gen Elite for Galaxy

Previously, there were rumours about Samsung using the Exynos chipset for their upcoming series, but the recent development suggests that the phone will indeed stick with the Qualcomm chipset. Not only that, the partnership between the two companies is still going strong as the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra will continue to enjoy the overclocked version of the chip. The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra might actually have “Snapdragon Elite for Galaxy” instead.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4

Extending Battery Life

The Galaxy S25 Ultra will pack with a 5,000mAh battery and a charging of 45W, which is nothing new to its previous Ultra series. But this time something new is coming to the regular; “Battery AI”.

The primary objective of Battery AI is to extend the longevity of the batteries in these devices by up to 10%. Unlike some Chinese competitors who increase the battery capacity to achieve similar results, Samsung is rumored to be opting for the integration of AI technology into its batteries.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra rumored battery

While the exact workings of Battery AI remain undisclosed, it is suggested that the technology will eliminate non-essential tasks to improve overall battery runtime without compromising the phone’s performance. Notably, Battery AI is expected to function without downclocking the CPU and GPU, which is seen as a positive aspect by many users.

Camera

The camera of the Samsung S Ultra variant has always been the talk of the town. However, this time except for the ultrawide sensor, the camera does not have any update.  This time the flagship will feature a 50-megapixel ISOCELL JN3 sensor for the ultrawide, a 200-megapixel H2 primary camera and a 10-megapixel IMX754 sensor for the 3x telephoto zoom. Samsung is sticking with the 5X sensor, which will be a 50-megapixel IMX584 sensor. So, for the front camera, it would be wise to keep the expectations low with a 12MP sensor.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra Specifications (Expected)

  • Body: 219 grams, IP68 rated, Titanium frame, S-pen support, Flat sides
  • Display: 6.8-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity-O, Gorilla Glass Armor, Adaptive 120Hz refresh rate, Vision Booster, up to 2600 nits (peak)

Realme’s rebranding game isn’t coming to a stop anytime soon. The Realme C53 smartphone is official in Nepal, which is just the Realme Narzo N53 with a 108MP camera. In this article, we’ll be walking through the specs, features, and official price of the Realme C53 in Nepal.

Realme C53 Overview:

Design and Display

The Realme C53 is totally identical to the Narzo N53 that was launched a while ago. So here as well, you find a boxy form factor with a glass front, plastic frame, and plastic back. On the rear side, there is an iPhone-like camera module, housing dual cameras and a flash. Also, with the same 7.49mm frames, the C53 shares the “slimmest Realme phone” tag with its Narzo N53 sibling. And you can choose between two color options: the flashy “Champion Gold” and a subtle “Mighty Black”.

Realme C53 Design Display

Up front, you are greeted with the same 6.74-inch IPS LCD display with FHD resolution and peak brightness of 450 nits. This waterdrop notch panel on the Realme C53 refreshes at up to 90Hz and adapts the iPhone 14 Pro-like dynamic island notification style, dubbed the “Mini Capsule”.
