Design and Display

Right from the get-go, it is pretty clear that Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G is trying to emulate what the higher-end Note offering did last year. Among the available designs, a single purple color option sticks out the most with a vegan leather finish — similar to the Note 13 Pro+! We are getting a 6.67-inch 12-bit OLED screen with 1.5K resolution on the Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G. Moreover, it is capable of up to 120Hz refresh rate, 3,000 nits peak brightness, and 480Hz touch sampling rate. In the meantime, the instantaneous touch sampling rate on the Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G is much higher at 2,560Hz. Not only that, but it also offers wet hands touch support, 1,920Hz PWM dimming, DCI-P3 color gamut, HDR10+ and has a triple certification from TÜV Rheinland for eye protection features.

Along with the aesthetic, the Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G gets an upgrade on the performance side of things as well. Firstly, the new phone houses the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Ultra, which is decently better than the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 on its predecessor. It is available in two configurations, those being: 8GB + 256GB and 12GB + 512GB. Likewise, the battery is 5,110 mAh. However, the charging speed has dropped to 45W from 67W, which is still plenty fast.

Camera and the rest

The camera department gets some adjustments too. Xiaomi has once again gone for a 200MP main sensor on the global variant, ditching the 50MP Sony LYT-600 sensor found on the Indian and Chinese variants. Other than that, the auxiliary lenses remain unchanged with an 8MP ultrawide and a 2MP macro shooter. Meanwhile, the selfie snapper is now a 20MP unit instead of the 16MP on the previous iteration.

Redmi is going bonanza with the Redmi Note 14 Series launch. The Xiaomi subbrand took the curtains off from the 4G iteration of the Note 14 as well alongside the Note 14 Pro 4G. The Redmi Note 14 Series has gone global with two additional models: the Note 14 4G and Note 14 Pro 4G. This article will focus on the Pro version with a Helio G100 Ultra SoC and 200MP camera. Without further ado, let’s head straight into the specs, features, pricing, and availability details.

Redmi Note 14 Pro 4G Overview:

Design and Display

Design-wise, the Redmi Note 14 Pro doesn’t distinguish it from its 5G sibling. The square camera module, curved middle frame, and a curved display upfront. Unlike the 5G version with a proper IP68 rating, you only get an IP64 rating here. Talking of the latter, it’s a Xiaomi favorite— the most used— 6.67-inch AMOLED panel with FHD+ resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, 1800nits of peak brightness, and a Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection. Redmi ships this guy in three colorways: Ocean Blue, Midnight Black, and Aurora Purple.

Performance

Camera

Talking of the optics part, the setup remains unchanged from the last year. Yeah, a 200MP main (OIS), an 8MP ultrawide and a 2MP macro unit. But with some AI features like AI Erase Pro and AI Beautify. In terms of videography, there is still no 4K recording here sadly. So, 1080p 60fps is all you can go at max. Panasonic has officially announced Panasonic LUMIX S5II and S5IIX at CES 2023. Successor to the original Lumix S5, the new mirrorless cameras feature Hybrid Phase Detection Autofocus, a first for Panasonic cameras. Let’s get into more detail about the Panasonic Lumix S5II and S5IIX and their expected price in Nepal.

Cameras

Both the Lumix S5II and S5IIX are advanced mirrorless cameras with a 24.2MP 35mm full-frame CMOS sensor and L2 imaging technology. The Hybrid autofocus system, mentioned earlier, combines Phase Detection Auto-Focus, and contrast detection, with a total of 779 AF points. This allows for tracking human and animal movement very well.

Moreover, with twice the performance of the original LUMIX S5, both cameras can record up to 6K videos at 30 frames per second. They also have burst shooting support at 30fps which is great for capturing fast-moving objects.

Additionally, you can record in 4K at 120fps and 1080 at 180fps for smooth slow-motion footage. Panasonic has used a new heat dispersion method with a built-in fan and heat sink that allows for continuous 4K recording without overheating.

Moreover, the company claims that the camera has more than 14 stops of dynamic range in V-Log/V-Gamut. And they support real-time LUT applications for in-camera calibration by uploading your LUT to the camera directly.

The S5II and S5IIX also have improved dual-native ISO for better low-light performance. Furthermore, both cameras can record 10-bit 4:2:2 video in UHD or 4K resolution.

Stabilization

This year, Panasonic has also improved the stabilization system, which now includes 5-axis Body IS and 2-axis lens-based OIS, which works for both photos and videos. There is also an Active IS mode for video, which optimizes the horizontal, vertical, and rotational correction ratios by detecting camera shake.

Differences

While the Lumix S5II and S5IIX are identical until now, they differ in a few areas. That is, the S5IIX can output RAW video right out of the box. This feature, however, is available as an optional upgrade with the S5II.

S5IIX, on the other hand, also supports USB-SSD recording as well as ALL-Intra and ProRes recording. There’s also wired and wireless streaming for live streaming, as well as USB tethering.

There are always new tech surprises at CES and this time we get an upgrade to both the popular display interfaces with HDMI 2.2 and Display Port 2.1b. Let’s quickly look at the improvements, upgrades, and future availability of HDMI 2.2.

HDMI 2.2 Overview

Increased bandwidth

The new HDMI standard brings double the bandwidth of its predecessor at 96Gbps. This allows support for much higher resolutions at a variety of refresh rates. HDMI 2.2 can support 4k at up to 480Hz, 8K at up to 240Hz, 10k at up to 120Hz, and even 16k resolution. That’s a whopping 8 billion pixels per second (16k at 60Hz) without accounting for overheads. For context, the current display standards: HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 2.1 can power 8k displays at 60Hz and 120Hz respectively.

Note: DP 2.1 also supports 16k at 60Hz but is limited to 8k at 120Hz.

Thankfully, the HDMI connector remains the same as previous generations but you are going to need a new cable to take advantage of this increased bandwidth. The ‘ULTRA96 HDMI Cable’ is much thicker than your typical HDMI 2.1 cable but it does unlock new possibilities for high FPS 8k or even 16k gaming in the future.

The HDMI Forum Inc. also introduced Latency Indication Protocol (LIP) that improves audio video sync for TVs and soundbars. Say goodbye to dealing with trailing dialogues and de-sync in multi-hop systems even when using multiple audio/video receivers.

DP 2.1b

Well, DisplayPort also got a small bump with new DP80LL (‘low loss’) active cables that offer 80Gbps of bandwidth for up to 3 meters utilizing a four-lane UHBR20 link rate. Previously, that kind of bandwidth was limited to just under a meter with the existing DP80 (passive) cables. There’s not much hardware that can fully utilize all its features, but NVIDIA’s recently announced RTX 50 series graphics do support DP 2.1b.

HDMI 2.2 Availability

HDMI 2.2 will be available to TV and display brands in Q2 of 2025. But, it’ll likely be a lot longer before we see widespread adoption and market availability. HDMI 2.1 was introduced back in 2017, and it took a few years just to see the first TVs with this tech. Widespread adoption took even longer at around 4-5 years. So, if the new version follows a similar timeline, we’ll only get to see HDMI 2.2 as an industry standard sometime around 2030.

The new Yoga Slim 9i (2025) features a stunning 4k OLED screen but what’s even more fascinating is that the webcam is actually hidden underneath this panel allowing for an awesome 98% screen-to-body ratio. The pure aesthetic-driven design of the Yoga Slim is sure to catch your attention. It’s a super sleek premium ultrabook with nearly an all-screen front and a glass-topped lid. The front features astoundingly minimal bezels with a record-breaking 98% screen-to-body ratio all thanks to CUD (Camera Under Display) tech that houses a 32MP sensor underneath. But what we traded for in the webcam, we surely get in the display department. The Lenovo Yoga Slim 9i (2025) features the brand’s flagship PureSight Pro screen with a 4k resolution, Delta E < 1, full coverage of sRGB and Adobe RGB gamuts, and up to 750 nits of peak brightness. That’s all packed in a 14” form factor weighing just 1.25kg and protected by an ‘impact-resistant’ glass (lid).

Performance and Memory

Staying on theme, the Yoga Slim 9i features an Intel Lunar Lake processor for maximum efficiency. You can spec it up to the Intel Core Ultra 7 258V chip with in-built Arc graphics.

Oppo Reno13 launched in India with MediaTek Dimensity 8350

Oppo launched its new batch of products including the updated Reno-series smartphones. The titular Oppo Reno13 comes with the MediaTek Dimensity 8350 chipset, AI features, and so on. In this article, we will be looking at the Oppo Reno13 in further detail, including its price in Nepal.

Oppo Reno13 Overview

Design and Display

The Oppo Reno13 comes with flat aluminium alloy frames as well as a flat-screen. It is IP66, IP68, and IP69 rated against water and dust exposure. The phone ships in Midnight Black, Galaxy Blue, and Butterfly Purple colours. Here, the latter option has a butterfly wings-like pattern while the former two come in regular faded shades.

On the front, there is a 6.59-inch AMOLED panel with 1.5K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. It supports a touch sampling rate and PWM dimming of up to 240Hz and 3,840Hz respectively. Likewise, it can reach a peak brightness of 1,200 nits and covers a wide P3 colour gamut.

As I mentioned earlier, the Oppo Reno13 has the MediaTek Dimensity 8350 as its primary driver. It is one of the first devices to come with this chipset and has a similar architecture to the Dimensity 8300. Other than that, the phone can come in a configuration of up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage. Meanwhile, it has a large 5,600 mAh battery in the tank while supporting up to 80W Super Flash Charge.

The software is one of the most exciting aspects of the Oppo Reno13. It boots in the ColorOS 15 based on Android and comes with baked-in AI features. The phone can utilise artificial intelligence to locate, summarise, and rewrite documents. It can also understand what is on the screen. Similarly, the company has introduced O+ Interconnection, which is basically an AirDrop-like feature that also works with iPhones.

Camera

The AI magic continues to the camera and images as well. This phone uses software to upscale and get rid of motion blur and glares as well. It also supports Live Photos and comes with various in-built filters.

Talking of the camera hardware, the main sensor and the selfie snapper are 50MP units each. In the meantime, the ultrawide shooter is only 8MP. That being said, due to the high water resistance of the Oppo Reno13, you can shoot underwater photos as well!

The much anticipated POCO performer is finally here with a very powerful chipset and an appealing price tag. So, let’s get right into the features and specifications of the POCO X7 Pro 5G alongside its expected price in Nepal and availability details.

POCO X7 Pro Overview

Design and Display

The POCO X7 Pro is basically the global version of the Redmi Turbo 4 exclusive to China. It’s got a similar boxy build with a dual-tone design measuring about 8.2mm thick. The smartphone is available in three different colors: Nebula Green, Obsidian Black, and POCO Yellow. For durability, there’s an IP66+IP67+IP69 rating with Corning Gorilla Glass 7i on screen.

On the display side, the POCO X7 Pro features a 6.67-inch AMOLED panel running at up to 120Hz. It’s a 1.5k screen with up to 3200nits of peak brightness and 68 billion colors. There’s also support for Dolby Vision and HDR 10+.

Performance

Under the hood, there’s MediaTek’s Dimensity 8400 Ultra chipset with an all-big core configuration on POCO X7 Pro. It’s based on TSMC’s 4nm process and features 8 Cortex A725 cores that clock up to 3.25GHz. Roughly speaking, it competes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 and Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipsets with over 1.7 million scores in the AnTuTu benchmark. On the GPU side, there’s the Arm Mali 6720 MC7 delivering flagship-grade graphical horsepower. To keep things cool, there’s POCO’s Ice Loop cooling system with a large 5000mm² vapor chamber.

Memory-wise, it houses either 8GB or 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM with 256GB of UFS 4.0 storage. It’ll run on HyperOS version 2 and get 3 years of OS and 4 years of security support.

Moving on to the cameras, there’s a 50MP Sony LYT 800 sensor with OIS as the primary supported by an 8MP ultrawide on the POCO X7 Pro. The front side houses a 20MP selfie cam housed in the punch hole.

Under the hood, the POCO X7 Pro houses a large 6550 mAh silicon carbide battery with 90W fast charging support. The brand promises 16 hours of continuous use with all-day power with just a 19-minute top-up.
