Vivo Y56 5G goes official with Dimensity 700 and 50MP dual camera

Just one day after announcing Vivo Y100 in the Indian market, the company has launched yet another mid-range smartphone in the Y-series. The new Vivo Y56 brings MediaTek Dimensity 700 5G processor and a 50MP primary camera. Let’s see what else Vivo Y56 5G has to offer, including its specs, expected price in Nepal, availability, and more.

Vivo Y56 5G Overview:

Design and Display

Vivo Y56 5G has a regular 6.58″ FHD+ IPS LCD screen that covers 96% NTSC color gamut. And it doesn’t bring a higher refresh rate either. This phone is quite sleek though, with a thickness of 8.15mm and a weight of just 184 grams. Vivo Y56 5G has an all-plastic construction but is available in a couple of pretty attractive color options including “Orange Shimmer” and “Black Engine”.

Its camera array and back panel look pretty similar to the one on the Vivo Y100—although it doesn’t use a color-changing design. At least it is also IP54 dust and splash resistant like the Y100.

Cameras

The Vivo Y56 5G has a dual camera setup on the back. The primary sensor is a Samsung 50MP ISOCELL JN1 f/1.8 sensor, which is complemented by a 2MP f/2.4 depth sensor. There’s a 16MP f/2.0 front camera inside the teardrop notch for selfies and stuff.

Performance

Under the hood, the Vivo Y56 5G brings MediaTek Dimensity 700 5G processor. This 7nm SoC has an octa-core CPU with two Cortex-A76 (@2.2 GHz) and six Cortex-A55 (@2.0 GHz).

Then there is Arm’s Mali-G57 MC2 GPU for graphics. Similarly, this phone is available with 4GB or 8GB LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of internal storage. You can also virtually expand RAM by up to 8GB whereas the Y56 5G also supports storage expansion using a microSD card.

HMD Global is taking a big stand for sustainability with its IFA 2022 announcements. With recycled materials and a Circular subscription service, the new Nokia X30 5G is made with sustainability in mind. Now, the smartphone has made its way to the Indian market. Nokia has focused on sustainability big time on this one. The metal frame on the Nokia X30 5G is made out of completely recycled aluminum and the plastic back is 65% recycled material too. Likewise, the box is 94% recycled paper and all of this is FSC-certified.

MediaTek Dimensity 7200 announced with TSMC’s second-gen 4nm process

The new MediaTek Dimensity 7200 chip is now official. Kicking off the Dimensity 7000 lineup, MediaTek says this sub-flagship mobile processor will “amplify gaming and photography smartphone experiences”. So let’s check out what the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 has to offer including its full specifications, availability, and more.

MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Overview:

Architecture

MediaTek Dimensity 7200 is based on TSMC’s second-generation 4nm process, called “N4P”. That’s the same one used in the company’s flagship Dimensity 9200 chip which you can find in phones like Vivo X90 and X90 Pro.

Anyway, the Dimensity 7200’s octa-core CPU consists entirely of second-gen Armv9 CPUs. This includes two Cortex-A715 cores clocked at up to 2.8 GHz and six Cortex-A510 cores at up to 2.0 GHz. MediaTek has integrated its fifth-gen APU (AI Processing Unit) called “APU 650” in the Dimensity 7200, which handles the efficiency of AI tasks and AI fusion. For graphics, there is Arm Mali-G610 MC4 GPU which supports fast response times and up to 144Hz FHD+ displays.

Made for gamers

According to CH Chen (Deputy General Manager of MediaTek’s Wireless Communications Business Unit), “The MediaTek Dimensity 7000 series will be vital for mobile gamers and photography enthusiasts who are looking for an affordable way to squeeze the most battery life out of their phones without skimping on performance.”

Dimensity 7200 also brings MediaTek’s HyperEngine 5.0 engine for gamers, which delivers AI-based Variable Rate Shading (VRS) to save power. It also enables other features like smart CPU and GPU optimization to deliver a smooth gaming experience.

200MP camera

Moving on, this chip supports up to 200MP main camera utilizing MediaTek’s Imagiq 765 ISP and an additional 14-bit HDR-ISP. This chipset can capture 4K HDR videos. It also allows users to shoot 1080p videos from two cameras at the same time while maintaining all-pixel autofocus mode. Dimensity 7200 also includes motion-compensated noise reduction for clear night shots. Furthermore, its APU supports advanced AI-Camera enhancements like real-time portrait beautification.

In terms of connectivity, MediaTek Dimensity 7200 features a 3GPP Release-16 standard sub-6GHz 5G modem with up to 4.7 Gbps downlink speed. It also supports triband WiFi 6E connectivity as well as Bluetooth 5.3. And for users on a 5G network, there’s the built-in 5G UltraSave 2.0 technology to ensure best-in-class cellular power efficiency. Furthermore, this chipset comes with 2CC Carrier Aggregation and Dual 5G SIM with dual VoNR (Voice over New Radio) too.

Moving on, Dimensity 7200 supports MiraVision display with all the latest HDR standards including HDR10+, CUVA HDR, and Dolby HDR. iQOO has finally launched the Neo 7 in India after a long wait. But the brand has rebranded the Chinese Neo 7SE as the global Neo 7. As a result, there are quite a few differences between the Chinese and global variants. Here, we’ll look at the specs, features, availability, and expected price of the iQOO Neo 7 in Nepal.

iQOO Neo 7 Overview:

Design, Display

Visually, the Neo 7 is very similar to the Neo 6. The rectangular camera module remains on the back, with a punch-hole cutout display on the front. However, iQOO managed to squeeze in a larger 6.78-inch screen, up from the 6.62-inch of its predecessor. The display has 1300 nits of brightness, a refresh rate of 120Hz, HDR 10+ support. And iQOO has thrown in a whopping 1200Hz touch sampling rate as well.

You get an in-display fingerprint scanner for biometrics. The Neo 7 is available in Interstellar Black and Frost Blue color.

Performance

Powering the smartphone is a Dimensity 8200 SoC. With four Cortex-A78 performance cores and four Cortex-A55 efficiency cores, the 8200 is a capable chipset in its own right. The Mali-G610 MC6 GPU is in charge of graphics here.

For cooling, IQOO has used a 2396 mm2 large vapor chamber (VC) and a 3D graphite structure. Memory options include up to 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage. And the phone boots on FunTouch OS 13 based on Android 13.

Exclusive to China-only Neo 7

Now, don’t get confused, the China-only Neo 7 has a few differences in terms of performance. There, the smartphone gets a more powerful Dimensity 9000+ chipset. On top of it, iQOO has offered a display-supporting chip dubbed the ‘Pro+’. It helps to reduce power consumption for a better gaming experience and more stable framerates. A 4013mm2 VC cooling system further helps the SoC to run at peak performance.

Similarly, to detect and monitor the temperature in real time, the smartphone employs 9 temperature sensors and a self-developed intelligent temperature sensing algorithm. There are also some differences in terms of cameras. While the China Neo 7 has a 50MP primary sensor, an 8MP ultrawide sensor, and a 2MP macro sensor, the global variant has a 64MP primary sensor and a couple of 2MP depth and macro sensors. Nonetheless, OIS is still present in the primary camera. A 16MP selfie camera is included for taking selfies. Vivo Y100 with Dimensity 900, color-changing design launched

Vivo has added a new member to its Y-series. Vivo Y100 is a 5G-ready mid-range smartphone that is just launched in India. In this article, let’s learn about the specs, features, and expected price of the Vivo Y100 in Nepal.

Vivo Y100 Overview:

Design and Display

To begin with, the Y100 takes a few design cues from the expensive V-series smartphone. Here, you get a color-changing glass back, although it’s limited to the Gold and Blue color. The Matte Black option, on the other hand, has a glittery matte finish. Also, the phone is quite light and thin at 171 grams and 7.73mm, respectively

Furthermore, the back panel houses two camera rings protruding from the back panel. Vivo also says the camera area has a pearl-like finish, hence it’s referred to as the “Dual Ring Pearl Glass” design.

Oppo’s first clamshell folding phone finally hits global market

Oppo has finally launched its first foldable phone globally. The Find N2 Flip was unveiled at a launch event today. It will give direct competition to Samsung’s Z Flip lineup, Motorola Razr 2022, and others. Design and Display

Oppo Find N2 Flip is the company’s first clamshell-style folding phone with a massive 3.2” cover OLED panel. Even the size alone makes the Find N2 Flip stand out among the competition. But Oppo has gone a step further by customizing its ColorOS 13.0 to use the extra screen real estate. With the external screen, you can take calls, check your schedules, take calls, and even use it for quick responses using custom messages, emojis, and voice-to-text transcription.

Oppo Find N2 Flip opens to a larger 6.8-inch display on the inside. It is an FHD+ AMOLED screen with a refresh rate between 1Hz and 120Hz. Likewise, the main screen covers 100% of DCI-P3 color coverage and has Samsung’s Ultra-Thin Glass (UTG) for protection.

Key to the Fold N2 Flip is the new vertical hinge composed of aviation-grade alloy. So, it is both strong and lightweight. Oppo has also paid attention to small details, such as the hinge’s design, which has a wave-like texture flowing from edge to edge and is said to have 12,000 micron-level fine carvings.

Likewise, the Find N2 Flip is rated for over 400,000 folding cycles. It doesn’t have superior IPX8 water resistance like Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 4, but Oppo has bagged IPX4 splash resistance here. The phone is available in three beautiful color options—Pink, Flow Gold, and Elegant Black.

Performance and Battery

Powering the Oppo Find N2 Flip is the latest Dimensity 9000+ SoC from MediaTek. Manufactured on a 4nm process, the silicon has a Cortex-X3 (3.2GHz), three Cortex-A710 (2.85GHz), and four Cortex-A510 (1.80GHz) cores. The Mali-G710 MC10 GPU handles the graphics.

It has been paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB UFS 3.1 storage. Find N2 Flip packs a dual-cell battery with a total capacity of 4,300mAh. While the battery life has been an issue with flip phones of the past, Oppo has assured that it provides over 11 hours of offline video streaming. On the other hand, the phone supports 44W fast charging.

Camera

Over on the photography front, you get two cameras to the side of the external display. They make up the rear camera setup and include 50MP primary and 8MP ultrawide sensors. The inner screen has a center-aligned punch-hole for the 32MP selfie camera. Oppo says the Flip also includes Hasselblad camera calibration and an in-house MariSilicon X imaging NPU for better image processing.

Furthermore, there are a few cool camera tricks that take advantage of the phone’s clamshell folding style. For instance, you can place your smartphone on a flat surface and take selfies. You can also take selfies with the main camera and preview the photo on the cover screen.

Design and Display

Dell has made significant design changes to the new XPS 13 Plus. While it is still made of CNC-machined aluminum and feels very lightweight, the real difference with the new XPS 13 is on the inside. Here, Dell has replaced the island-style keys on the previous models with a “zero-lattice” keyboard that runs from edge to edge across the deck.

It has a 12-core CPU that can run at up to 4.70GHz and has an L3 cache of 18MB. It also has its own integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics. The silicon is paired with a dual channel 16GB LPDDR5 RAM and up to 1TB of M.2 PCIe Gen 4 NVMe SSD.

As far as ports go, there are just two. Here, you’ll find one Thunderbolt 4 (USB Type-C with DisplayPort and Power Delivery) port on each side of the laptop. To make up for the lack of connectivity options, the company has included a USB-C to 3.5mm headset and a USB-C to USB-A 3.0 adapter in the box.

Moving on, XPS 13 Plus gets its fuel from a 55WHr battery. This 3-cell battery can be charged up to 80% in under an hour, thanks to the Express Charge technology. For attending meetings and video calls, there is a dual-sensor HD webcam on the front. And the laptop relies on a fingerprint reader for biometrics. Leading +2 college in Nepal pioneers robotics and AI education with innovative event

United Academy Nepal, a leading college in Lalitpur and Kathmandu, partnered with the Robotics Association of Nepal (RAN Nepal) to host a historic event on 27th Magh 2079. United Academy is a well-known educational institution in Nepal that offers affordable education options. It has consistently been ranked among the top colleges in the cities of Lalitpur and Kathmandu and is also recognized as one of the top science colleges in the country.

The event, United Robotics Fest 1.0 included a successful inter-school Robo Soccer competition, a panel discussion on the impact of Robotics and AI in education, and a science exhibition featuring 17 innovative robotic models designed and built by the Plus two students of United Academy. This event was a resounding success, attracting participation from schools across the country including some of the top colleges in Kathmandu and Lalitpur, and generating enthusiasm from students, teachers, and parents.

The science exhibition was held in conjunction with the Robo Soccer competition and panel discussion and showcased 17 cutting-edge robotic models, including an automatic hand sanitizer dispenser, a rain alarm system, a security alert system, a weather reporting system, and a soil moisture monitoring system. Other remarkable models on display were an IoT-based home automation system, an automatic street light, a smart dustbin, a fingerprint door lock system, an automatic solar tracking system, an RFID card-based door lock system, a jumbo RC car, an obstacle-avoiding robot, a line following robot, a room cleaning robot, a hexapod, and a fire fighting robot.

The event was a testament to the plus two students’ creativity and craftsmanship and received positive feedback from attendees. It was a major milestone in the advancement of the robotics and AI industry in Nepal and will inspire future generations of students to pursue careers in these dynamic fields right after Secondary Education Examination (SEE).

One of the notable moments of the United Academy Nepal event was the insightful panel discussion on the impact of Robotics and AI in education, featuring Ruchi Pandey, Sr. Director of Public Relations and Corporate Communications at Fusemachines Nepal, Er. Roshan Pandey, Senior Technical Officer at Nepal Academy of Science and Technology, and Er. Ramesh Shrestha, Principal at Sagarmatha Engineering College. The discussion was skillfully moderated by Er. Bikash Gurung, President of the Robotics Association of Nepal (RAN).

The panel discussion was particularly relevant for students who are considering their options after plus two. For those who are interested in pursuing a career in IT, the discussion provided valuable insight into the benefits and opportunities that can be gained from studying Robotics and AI in education. The discussion was an excellent resource for students who are looking to determine what to study after plus two and what to do to pursue a successful career in IT.

The discussion began with Ruchi Pandey highlighting the growing importance of robotics and AI in the field of education. She discussed how these technologies are transforming the way students learn and providing new opportunities for hands-on learning and skill development. She emphasized the importance of equipping plus two students with the skills and knowledge they need to thrive in a rapidly changing world saying.

“As a female in the AI field, I have seen the growth and progression of women in technology. At Fuse, we strive to create equal opportunities for both men and women in the field. Our goal is to provide quality education and training sessions for the youth, especially in Nepal, to unlock access to AI talent and stop the brain drain. Through AI fellowships, Nepalese students are benefiting by getting fully trained in engineering and some even become entrepreneurs. We believe that Nepalese have the curiosity and potential for AI, and we want to show them the opportunities here in Nepal.” – Ruchi Pandey.

m”As a mechanical engineer with nine years of experience, my passion for AI developed during my bachelor’s degree. I have seen the latest advancements in AI in other countries and I am proud to be a part of the AI integration at NAST. Our goal is to connect with the youth and bring AI to their everyday lives, especially in the education sector. Although Nepal has some penetration in AI, the output will take time as we seem to be lagging behind. In the future, AI will play a crucial role in every sector, and at NAST, we aim to support the young scientists and provide grants to students, as well as empower the uneducated with special talent through AI.”- Roshan Pandey.

Er. Roshan Pandey then spoke about the potential of robotics and AI to revolutionize education. He discussed how these technologies can be used to create more interactive and engaging learning experiences and how they can help students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. He also spoke about the need for educational institutions to adopt new teaching methodologies and technologies to keep pace with the rapidly evolving field of robotics and AI.

“AI is set to rule the world in the coming years with automation becoming the norm in every developed country. Every business needs to be sustainable and the key factor for this is AI and technology. Staying updated and prepared is a challenge in this ever-changing technology landscape, and workshops and collaborations should be carried out to address this. A career in AI requires a mix of incentives and passion, and in terms of global context, AI has a lot to offer. To ensure opportunities in AI, students from different backgrounds should have a strong foundation in Calculus, Linear Algebra, Statistics, and Probability, and an understanding of how the brain works. At Sagarmatha Engineering College, we are incorporating AI-related syllabus and providing dedicated funds to support the education in AI.” – Ramesh Shrestha

Ramesh Shrestha then added to the discussion by highlighting the role of engineering and technology in shaping the future of education. He discussed how engineering and technology education can provide students with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in a rapidly changing world. He emphasized the importance of investing in education to ensure that future generations are equipped with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in a rapidly changing world.

Simultaneously, there was also a Robo-Soccer Competition going on the same day. It was a 7-hour competition that had 8 participants in total. These participants were from all over the country — including teams from out-of-valley and all-girls teams as well. The first, second, and third place holders of the Robo-Soccer Competition were – Team Protsahan, Team Destructor, and Team Fireflies respectively.

The new TV Stick 4K shares the same design as the older Mi TV Stick. It is, however, somewhat longer and heavier, measuring 106.8mm and weighing 42.8 grams, respectively. Likewise, it enjoys the same 360° Bluetooth remote and is only available in a single black color variant.
