Samsung Galaxy A12 with 2 years old Helio P35 chipset now available in Nepal

0

Samsung has officially launched the Galaxy A12 in the Nepali market. It is the successor to the Galaxy A11 that was launched a year ago. Without wasting any time, let’s take a look at the specs, features, official price, and availability of the Samsung Galaxy A12 in Nepal.

Samsung Galaxy A12 Overview

Design and Display

The new Samsung Galaxy A12 comes with a 6.5-inch TFT panel. Interestingly, the company has opted for an Infinity-V notch while its predecessor came with a punch-hole display. It’s an HD+ panel with noticeable bezels around the screen, especially on the bottom chin.

Samsung Galaxy A12 Design

The body is most likely plastic considering its budget nature. Samsung has gone for a dual-tone finish with a textured look on the upper portion. It also houses the square camera module, while the lower portion comes with Samsung’s branding.

Performance and Memory

While Samsung has listed the phone with an octa-core processor, it has not publicly acknowledged the actual processor used. However, given the clock frequency, it has been speculated that A12 comes with MediaTek’s Helio P35. It features eight Cortex-A53 cores with half of them operating at 2.3GHz and the rest of them clocked at 1.8GHz. Samsung hasn’t mentioned the Android version the device will ship with either. But, we expect it to run on One UI 2.5 based on Android 10 out-of-the-box.

Galaxy A12 will be available in three RAM configurations – 3GB, 4GB, and 6GB. Similarly, there will be three memory options – 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB. The internal storage can also be expanded up to 1TB using an external MicroSD card.

Camera

Samsung Galaxy A12 flaunts a quad-camera setup at the back. The company has upgraded from the 13MP primary camera on its predecessor to 48MP on the A12. It also has a smaller aperture of f/2.0. The 5MP ultra-wide camera and the 2MP depth camera have been left untouched. On the other hand, Samsung has added another 2MP lens for macro photography. For selfies, there is an 8MP camera inside the Infinity-V notch.

There is an upgrade in the battery capacity as well. The Galaxy A12 now has a massive 5,000mAh battery. It also supports 15W fast charging but we will have to see if the charger will be included in the box. In terms of security, the phone has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

AQFiT’s wearables including smartwatches, TWS earbuds now available in Nepal

Fitness bands, smartwatches—basically smart wearables have been in the trend for quite some time now. We have the likes of Apple, Samsung, Fitbit, and Xiaomi comfortably ruling the market here in Nepal. And now, AQFiT has entered the Nepalese market with its selection of budget wearables. In this post, we’ll be taking a look at all the AQFiT smartwatches and TWS earbuds available in Nepal including their official price and availability.

AQFiT: Brand Overview

The company was founded in 2018, so it is relatively new to the scene. It is based in Noida, India and as mentioned above, specializes in smart wearables. According to the company, they adhere to the core value of “originality, quality, experience, and service”.

Going through their product catalog, I became highly doubtful of the “originality” in their products in terms of the design aspect. It’s not that the designs are bad, it’s just that there’s nothing new about them. So, that’s there. Anyway, most of their products are aptly priced and have been known to be reliable.

AQFiT Logo

Tech Studio is the authorized distributor of AQFiT products in Nepal. They are currently the distributor of HiFuture accessories too. So, we can expect some level of consistency in terms of product delivery and all. You can buy AQFiT accessories in Nepal exclusively at Sastodeal. More importantly, they are also complemented by 1 year of warranty. So let’s take a look at the AQFiT smartwatches, TWS earbuds available in Nepal alongside their official price and availability.

Sporting Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity, AQFiT A11’s case also has a LED display. The promotional posters reveal a series of numerical indicators on this screen. While I assume one of them represents the battery life, I’m not sure what all of them mean. Getting to the audio quality, these earbuds come with a dynamic driver packaged inside that the company says is designed for bass lovers.

For clearer voice calls, it also supports cVc (Clear Voice Capture) noise cancellation. Nubia Red Magic 6 series comes with a 165Hz screen and up to 18GB of RAM

Last year’s Red Magic 5G was the first smartphone to feature a 144Hz screen. This year, Nubia has taken it to next level by announcing the world’s first smartphones with a 165Hz refresh rate under the Red Magic 6 series. In this post, we will be taking a look at the specs, features, expected price, and availability of the Nubia Red Magic 6 & 6 Pro in Nepal.

Nubia Red Magic 6, 6 Pro Overview:

165Hz Refresh Rate

Red Magic 6 series features a 6.8-inch AMOLED panel with support for up to 165Hz refresh rate. The company has collaborated with Qualcomm to make this a reality. The refresh rate is also adaptive meaning the phone will adjust it based on the content on the screen. It can drop to as low as 30Hz when static content is on display. Similarly, Nubia has optimized its UI so that users can enjoy 120Hz in menus and apps. The 165Hz smoothness kicks-in in select games. There is also this technology called “Touch Choreographer” which that adds frames in-between to increase the frame stability.

Similarly, the Red Magic 6 and 6 Pro support 360Hz of multi-touch sampling rate which is in level with the recently announced Redmi K40 series. On the other hand, the touch sampling rate on the Red Magic 6 goes up to 500Hz when using a single finger. Similarly, at 165Hz, the click response time can get as low as 8 milliseconds.

More about the display

Nubia has used an FHD+ AMOLED panel. Its 2400 x 1080 pixels results in a 20:9 aspect ratio. The phone has slim bezels around the screen but still manages a screen-to-body ratio of 91.28%. The display covers 100% of the DCI P3 color field and has a contrast ratio of 1000000:1. As you would expect, the screen has an optical fingerprint scanner beneath it.

Nubia Red Magic 6 Series Design

Performance and Cooling

Red Magic 6 series is powered by Snapdragon 888 chipset. The chipset is based on Samsung’s 5nm process and boasts a maximum single-clock frequency of up to 2.84GHz. The graphics are handled by Adreno 660 GPU and users get to enjoy Qualcomm’s third-gen Snapdragon Elite gaming features. The phone comes with 8/12/18GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 512GB UFS 3.1 internal storage.

Nubia’s ICE 6.0 technology is responsible for keeping the temperature of the phone down. It consists of a 6-layer multi-dynamic cooling system. The built-in centrifugal fan can rotate at a speed of 18000RPM. The blades are just 0.1mm thick. Similarly, the cooling system makes use of copper foil, thermal gel, graphene, and VC sheet. Nubia claims that this setup can reduce the temperature by up to 16-degree Celsius.

Screencast and Streaming

You can cast the content of your screen to a bigger display in a number of ways. One way to do so is by using a USB direct-link screencast. As per the company, you can achieve desktop-level fps manipulation with this. You can even cast your screen using a wireless medium. Similarly, Nubia says it has worked on picture rendering enhancement technology for users who like to stream their live gameplay.

Rest of the features

Fueling the Red Magic 6 is a 5050mAh battery with support for 65W fast charging. On the other hand, the Pro model features a 4,500mAh battery but with a faster 120W charging technology. The two phones feature Nubia’s third-gen shoulder buttons with a touch sampling rate of 400Hz.

The triple camera setup on the back consists of a 64MP primary camera accompanied by an 8MP ultrawide sensor and a 2MP macro sensor.

Redmi Note 10 Pro with 120Hz Super AMOLED display launched in Nepal

0

After launching the Redmi Note 10, Xiaomi has launched the Redmi Note 10 Pro in Nepal. It is the Global variant and is identical to the Redmi Note 10 Pro Max for the Indian market. Hence, the Redmi Note 10 Pro that’s launched in Nepal comes with a primary 108MP lens instead of the 64MP that you find on the Indian variant. Anyways, let’s talk a look at the specs, features, official price, and availability of the Redmi Note 10 Pro in Nepal.

Redmi Note 10 Pro Overview:

Design and Display

The main talking point of this year’s Note series has been the display and design. This is the first time Redmi did not opt for an IPS LCD screen. And the best part is that users don’t have to choose between a higher refresh and AMOLED panel as you get both of them in the Redmi Note 10 Pro. You read that right – the 120Hz Super AMOLED panel is not exclusive to the Pro Max Model. You get the exact 6.67-inch FHD+ panel on the Pro model. The display covers 100% of the DCI P3 color profile and can play HDR10 content. It has a peak brightness of 1200 nits.

Redmi Note 10 Pro Color Options

Redmi has also altered the look of the phone. The company calls it “Evol. design”. It incorporates a new camera bump that is now on the top left corner. At just 192 grams, the phone is actually lighter than its predecessor. It is also thinner with a thickness of just 8.1mm.

You can choose between three gradient finishes – Vintage Bronze, Glacial Blue, and Dark Night. The Vintage Bronze and Glacial Blue feature a frosted glass back. There is Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection on the front and the back of the device. However, Redmi has not clearly specified the material used on the Dark Night.

Performance

Likewise, Redmi Note 10 Pro is powered by Snapdragon 732G chipset which we can find on the popular Poco X3. This chipset was launched last year as a successor to the 730G. When compared to its predecessor, the 732G has an overclocked Prime Core (470 Kryo @ 2.3GHz) and 15% better graphics performance. Nevertheless, it is an upgrade over the 720G found in last year’s Note 9 Pro. The biggest shortcoming here is the lack of 5G connectivity.

The device comes in two RAM variants – 6GB and 8GB. Both of them are complemented by 128GB of UFS 2.2 internal storage. There is also a 64GB variant that is exclusive to the 6GB variant.

Camera

Moving on, Note 10 Pro flaunts a quad-camera setup at the back. The setup is led by the 64MP Samsung GW3 sensor for the Indian variant, but the Global variant has a 108MP Samsung HM2 sensor. It is accompanied by an 8MP ultra-wide camera with a 118-degree Field of View. Completing the setup is a 5MP super macro sensor and a 2MP depth sensor. Users can record 4K 30 fps videos with the Note 10 Pro. Similarly, the device supports 720P slow motion recording up to 960 fps.

[Note: The Note 10 Pro variant that’s launched in Nepal comes with 108MP primary camera]

Redmi Note 10 Pro Quad Camera Setup

On the front, there is a 16MP selfie camera capable of recording 1080P videos at 30 fps. It also has a handful of interesting features like Night Mode, Panorama, Short Video, Slow motion, and time-lapse videos.

Rest of the specs

Fueling the device is a 5,020mAh battery that supports charging speeds of up to 33W. Redmi even includes a 33W fast charger inside the box. The Type-C port on the Note 10 Pro also supports reverse charging. There is a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for biometrics. Also, the device has an IP53 certification against dust and water. Other features include Hi-Res certified dual stereo speakers, and a Z-Axis vibration motor.

Meizu 18 series with Snapdragon 888, 4-sided curved screen launched in China

0

Meizu is a fairly established smartphone brand in China but isn’t known much in other regions of the world. The company has now launched the successor to last year’s Meizu 17 series. Here, the new Meizu 18 series bring a whole new design language on top of other improvements. Let’s learn more about the Meizu 18 and 18 Pro including their specs, features, expected price in Nepal, and more.

Meizu 18 Pro Overview:

Design & Display

As the name implies, the Meizu 18 Pro is the more premium of the two. The company has swapped the horizontal camera alignment on its predecessor to something that’s trendy in 2021. By that I mean to say just how similar it looks to Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra’s camera module. Besides this, the phone comes in an 8-curved micro-arc design. This means that Meizu 18 Pro has a curved display and curved frames.

Meizu 18 Pro - Color options

However, it’s not a waterfall-like curve but rather a pretty subtle one. The back of the phone has been molded using AG (anti-glare) glass material. Moving on, Meizu 18 Pro features mEngine 4.0 haptic engine for an immersive gaming experience. In terms of display, you’re getting a 6.7-inches 2K+ Super AMOLED screen. Meizu has used Samsung’s E4 panel here, and it supports a 120Hz dynamic refresh rate.

It also equips SGS low blue light emission which is a hardware-based solution for reducing harmful blue light release. In terms of colors, Meizu says the 18 Pro’s screen covers 100% DCI-P3 color space and is HDR10+ certified as well. Disappointingly, the company is sticking with old-gen Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection instead of Victus. This screen is also imbued with Qualcomm’s second-gen ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor.

Performance

Because it’s a flagship phone, expecting any less in the performance department would be a mistake. It is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset which has been coupled with either 8/12GB of LPDDR5 RAM. On the storage front, the choice ranges between 128 and 256GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage with no support for an external micro SD card. Running the whole show is Meizu’s in-house Flyme 9 OS based on Android 11.

Meizu 18 Pro - Display

The company is proudly advertising its Android skin as private, ad-free, and simplistic. On top of all the customizations, Flyme OS won’t come with any bloatware app pre-installed either. You can also make use of Meizu’s own “Aicy” digital assistant to navigate the phone. Anyway, Meizu 18 Pro also supports Wi-Fi 6E and the upgraded mSmart 5G 2.0 technology for unparalleled network connectivity.

Cameras

This phone looks to be a beast in the camera department as well. Featuring a quad-camera setup, it has a 50MP Samsung GN1 primary sensor. It’s the same lens found in phones like the recent Vivo X60 Pro+. The rest of the setup includes a 32MP Sony IMX616 ultra wide-angle/macro lens, an 8MP telephoto lens, and a Samsung ToF 3D sensor. Meizu 18 Pro’s ultra-wide camera has a 130-degree Field Of View (FOV) which can take macro shots from 2CM distance.

Meizu 18 Pro - Back Cameras

Likewise, the telephoto lens supports 3x optical, 5x hybrid, and 30x digital zoom. Coming to the front, the right-mounted punch-hole cutout of its predecessor has been substituted with a centered punch-hole instead. It houses a 44MP Samsung GH1 camera and supports features like AI Super Clear Portrait, 4K video recording, and more.

Battery & rest of the specs

Getting to the battery, Meizu 18 Pro gets its juice from a decent 4500mAh cell. In terms of charging, it gets a 40W wired and wireless option. Meizu claims that it takes just 50 minutes to fully reach from 0 to 100% via the 40W wired charging method. The company is targeting the gaming community with the Meizu 18 Pro as well. For this, the phone includes a VC (Vapor Chamber) liquid cooling solution although its exact specification remains a mystery.

Meizu 18 Overview:

Moving on, the standard Meizu 18 is more-or-less the same phone as its Pro sibling. Like how the 18 Pro takes its inspiration from the Galaxy S21 Ultra in terms of camera layout, Meizu makes do with that of the regular Galaxy S21. Moreover, it also drops the ToF 3D sensor. The remaining camera module is slightly different too. Instead of the 50MP Samsung GN1 sensor, this one comes with the 64MP Sony IMX682 camera.

Meizu 18 - Color Options

Apart from this, you get a 16MP Samsung ultra-wide lens which also doubles as a macro camera. But more importantly, the FOV of Meizu 18’s ultra-wide camera is downgraded from 130-degree on the Pro to just 122-degree. And then there’s the 8MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. The punch-hole cutout on the phone’s center is home to a 20MP f/2.2 selfie camera.

Other differences between the two can be seen in the display front as well. Meizu 8 has a smaller 6.2-inches 2K+ AMOLED screen with the same 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate. It also has a smaller 4000mAh battery with support for a 36W Super mCharge standard. Besides this, it lacks wireless charging support.

Realme outlines major camera features of 8 series including the 108MP camera

0

Today, Realme hosted an online event to discuss the improved camera features that the company will debut with the upcoming number series. The event was titled Realme 108MP event hinting at the use of a 108MP camera sensor on the upcoming Realme 8 Pro. In this post, we will be taking a look at all the new camera features that the Realme 8 series will introduce as highlighted in the Realme 108MP event.

Realme 108MP Camera Innovation Event:

Samsung HM2 sensor

Realme 8 series will be a camera–centric smartphone lineup. The highlight of the series will be the inclusion of a 108MP sensor in the Realme 8 Pro. In fact, this phone will be the first device from the company to feature a 108MP camera. Realme has opted for the Samsung HM2 sensor here. The same sensor has been previously used in Xiaomi phones like Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G and Mi 10i.

Samsung ISOCELL HM2 Sensor

This camera utilizes a 1/1.52″ image sensor and has a total of 12000 x 9000 effective pixels. For better image quality in low-light conditions, the camera makes use of 9-in-1 pixel binning (nona-binning). HM2 supports Samsung’s new imaging technologies like ISOCELL Plus and Smart ISO.

Realme 8 Pro 108MP camera shot

With the Realme 8 Pro, users will be able to shoot in 12MP pixel-binned as well as 108MP mode. The pictures taken with the latter will retain more details, clarity, and sharpness. But as expected, those shots will come with larger file size.

In-Sensor Zoom Technology

If you like cropping and zooming in on the picture, you will be happy to learn about Realme’s new In-sensor Zoom technology. When you use 3x zoom on the 108MP mode, because there is no optical zoom, the photo taken will actually be a portion cropped from the original frame. However, with the new in-sensor zoom feature, the camera will take up to 8 different 12MP pictures of the zoomed part. The pictures then go through an image clarity algorithm for a nice and clear 3X zoomed photo.

Realme in-sensor zoom technology

Realme claims that the picture taken through this feature can even be sharper than some optical telephoto lens. Realme also compared the 3x pictures taken using in-sensor zoom against pictures from a 3x telephoto lens from Realme X50 Pro.

Realme in-sensor zoom vs 2x telephoto lens

Starry Mode

Realme even confirmed that the second generation of the Starry Mode will debut with the Realme 8 series. The biggest change here is that the brightening of the stars will now be handled by the ISP (Image Signal Processor) itself. Prior to this, it was done via algorithms. The involvement of ISP means that the pictures will have reduced noise and brighter-looking stars.

Realme has now brought this feature to videos as well. Users will now be able to record starry time-lapse videos. In this mode, the camera takes 15 photos and combines them to form a single frame. Similar frames are then combined together for the 30fps time-lapse video. The camera takes 480 seconds to shoot 30 photos for a 1-second time-lapse video. So, it is recommended to use a tripod while shooting in this mode.

Tilt-Shift Technology

Another exciting camera feature in the Realme 8 series is the Tilt-Shift mode. This will allow your smartphone camera to replicate tilt-shift photography cameras. This is done by focusing on a certain part of the frame and adding bokeh to the rest. The end result is a miniature-like scene. Users can even control parameters like location, title angle, and transition effect. It is also supported in time-lapse videos.

Realme Tilt Shift technology

Trendy Portraits

Realme has also added some trendy new features to portraits on the Realme 8 Series. The first among these is called Neon Portrait. When enabled, the camera recognizes the light source on the background and emphasizes more on it for a better end result.

Similarly, there is the dynamic bokeh portrait that keeps the subject stationary while adding a motion blur to the background. The third is the AI Color Portrait that applies a black and white effect to the background making the subject pop.

Carbon 1 MK II is a one-of-a-kind phone with a carbon fiber build

0

Brands these days try to pack in as many features in their smartphones as possible in a bid to outshine the competition. As a result, smartphones have grown both in size and weight. Enter, Carbon 1 MK II. It is the first commercial phone from Carbon which is a Germany-based company (not to be confused with Karbonn, the Indian smartphone manufacturer). The brand is tackling the problem of growing smartphone weight by promoting the use of carbon fiber for the phone’s build. In this post, we will be taking a look at Carbon 1 MK II and the innovative technology that makes it the first of its kind.

Carbon 1 MK II Overview:

Unique Carbon Fiber Monocoque Design

Here, the Carbon 1 Mk II is the world’s first carbon fiber monocoque smartphone. Monocoque is a French word that translates to “single shell”. This design takes inspiration from eggs where all the support comes from the outer shell. This approach is complicated to pull off, but it results in an extremely lightweight body. Thus, it is mainly reserved for race cars and aircraft.

The monocoque design on the Carbon 1 MK II means that all the support comes from the external structural skin. Contrary to mainstream phones with a unibody design, MK II doesn’t have internal frames. The result is an extremely light miniature design. The phone weighs just 125g which the company claims to be lighter than 33% of the phone. Similarly, the phone is just 6.3mm thick compared to the average thickness of 8.3mm in today’s smartphones.

Advantages

Another advantage of using carbon is that reduces the use of plastic and thus is more environment-friendly. According to the company, this phone uses less than 5% plastic for its construction. And the lightweight design means that less CO2 is emitted for transportation and delivery. Carbon has also worked on the reparability of the phone. It says that the near-modular monocoque design of the MK II makes it easy for users to repair in case of a part failure.

Network Reception

But why did it take so long for companies to switch to carbon fiber if it has all these benefits? Well, prior to this, carbon fiber was known to block radio frequencies resulting in bad network reception in smartphones. Carbon has solved this with the help of its HyRECM technology, which is a result of four years of research. The company has forged carbon fiber with complementary radio-enabled composites for better network reception.

Technical Specifications

Let’s quickly take a look at what features the Carbon 1 MK II offers as a smartphone. The phone sports a 6-inch AMOLED panel. The 2160 x 1080 resolution of the screen results in an 18:9 aspect ratio. There is a 0.4mm layer of Corning Gorilla Glass Victus for added protection. The thickness is the least of all the Victus Glass to date.

The phone is powered by MediaTek’s Helio P90 which is quite outdated by today’s standard. In Carbon’s defense, the phone is not supposed to be a beast performer. With the Carbon 1 MK II, you get 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB of UFS 2.1 storage. You can expand the storage with an external microSD card but you will have to sacrifice the dual-SIM functionality for that.

Carbon 1 MK II design

Talking about the camera, there are two at the back and one on the front. The dual-camera setup on the back consists of two 16MP sensors. Interestingly, the front camera uses a 20MP sensor.

Fueling the device is a 3,000mAh battery and the fast charging support means users can charge it up to 50% within 30 minutes. The phone ships with Android 10 but the company has promised two major software updates and monthly software updates. In terms of connectivity, the phone supports dual-4G, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth, and NFC. The phone has a USB-C 3.1 port but sadly there is no 3.5mm headphone jack.

Carbon 1 MK II Specifications:

  • Design: Monocoque Design with Hybrid Carbon Fiber Composites
  • Body: 153.5 x 74.0 x 6.3mm, 125 gm
  • Display: 6.01-inches AMOLED, 395PPI, Corning Gorilla Glass Victus (0.4mm)
  • Resolution: 2160 x 1080 pixels, 18:9 aspect ratio

  • Battery: 3000mAh (fast charging support)

Carbon 1 MK II Price and Availability

Carbon 1 MK II is quite expensive as it comes with a price tag of 799 Euros which is a lot given the specs of the phone. However, it’s a first-of-its-kind and the lightweight monocoque build is super rare among smartphones. Interested buyers can pre-order the phone from the company’s official site. Delivery will start later this month. The phone will only be available in Germany and a couple of European countries including Austria, Switzerland, and more.
