Samsung Galaxy Quantum5 utilises RNG based on Quantum Physics for data security

Samsung just launched a new Galaxy A55 5G variant with a QRNG chip that uses entropy for your data security. What does that mean? Well, let’s discuss more about the Samsung Galaxy Quantum5, the QRNG chip, the Quantum Physic and entropy stuff, and finally what its price in Nepal might be in this article.

Samsung Galaxy Quantum5 Overview

QNRG Chip

The main highlight of the Samsung Galaxy Quantum5 is that it is equipped with the ID Quantique (IDQ)’s SKT S2Q000 chip. This chip is a QRNG (Quantum Random Number Generator) and generates full entropy. In other words, it produces fully unpredictable and truly random numbers. Quantum-based random numbers can be generated in multiple ways and IDQ utilises photon counting solutions for this purpose.

Samsung Galaxy Quantum5 IDQ SKT S2Q000 chip

Basically, the global leader in quantum cybersecurity uses photons of light or lasers to generate a number. It then uses that number for encryption and decryption of data like biometrics and passwords.

What does all this mean to you?

Using a quantum-based random number ensures nigh-unbreachable security even in the future. You must have at least heard about quantum computers. It is a type of computer that can process vast amounts of data extremely fast. Given that, one of its major uses is decoding cryptography.

Samsung Galaxy Quantum5 hands-on

This means the conventional methods of random number generation break down when quantum computers get involved. They can figure out the algorithms used by such RNG without much issue. However, the same cannot be said for quantum-based random numbers. Hence, using a QRNG on Samsung Galaxy Quantum5 pretty much guarantees that no one can hack your valuable data even by using a quantum computer.

Let’s be real, no one will actually try to extract your data with a quantum computer. At least, not anytime soon. Therefore, it is primarily about having peace of mind that your phone is an impenetrable fortress.

The phone itself

Apart from the fancy QRNG chip, the Samsung Galaxy Quantum5 is the same as the Samsung Galaxy A55 5G. It comes with flat aluminium frames and Gorilla Glass protection on the front as well as the back. It has the Gorilla Glass Victus+ on the front which is one of the newer iterations of the hardened glass. Meanwhile, the screen here is a 6.6-inch Super AMOLED panel offering FHD+ resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and 1,000 nits of peak brightness.

Samsung Galaxy Quantum5 colours

Inside it has the in-house Exynos 1480 chipset coupled with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. The Samsung Galaxy Quantum5 packs a 5,000 mAh battery for power and supports 25W charging speed. Camera-wise, it has three on the back comprising of a 50MP primary, 12MP ultrawide, and a 5MP macro. Likewise, it has a 32MP shooter on the front for selfie and face scanning. The fingerprint sensor sits underneath the display. All this comes in an IP67-rated dust and water-tight body available in Awesome Ice Blue, Awesome Lilac, and Awesome Navy colour options.

Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro launching soon with OLED panel and 24GB RAM

1

Xiaomi’s comeback scene in the tablet arena has been well-received. The Xiaomi Pad 5 and Pad 6 Series proved to be the best value-for-money tabs in the market. And looks like, the Chinese tech giant is not stopping here. Reports suggest the company is now gearing up to launch two new tablets: Xiaomi Pad 7 and Pad 7 Pro! We’ll go through everything we know about these tablets in this article.

Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro Rumors Roundup

“Snapdragon 8” Power!

Initially, it was rumored that the Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro would be sporting the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. However, one of the most trusted leakers — Digital Chat Station says otherwise! According to them, the Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro can get the latest goodies. This means the Pad 7 Pro will likely be flying with the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3.

Snapdragon 8 gen 3

Additionally, as per the leaker, the tablet will also have two other variants with non-Pro monikers that will rock the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC instead. Moreover, the Pro version will get up to 24GB of RAM.

Design and Display

No renders — official or not — have been outed to date. However, there is some buzz about the display of the tab. At first, it was thought that the Xiaomi Pad 7 pro would sport a 10-inch LCD panel from Tianma. But recent development suggests the tablet will flaunt an OLED panel instead, which would make it a first in the series.

Xiaomi Pad 6 Pro Design and Display
Pad 6

Similar to the case of the chipset, the non-Pro siblings will get the LCD panel from Tianma. Either way, the screen will likely have a 144Hz refresh rate and a 2367 x 1480 resolution.

HyperOS and the rest

The upcoming tab from Xiaomi will boot on the HyperOS 2.0 built on top of Android 14 or 15. It’s an upgraded version of the HyperOS operating system with a combination of an advanced Android base and Xiaomi’s self-developed IoT (Internet of Things) platform — Vela. It will eventually be the key thing in Xiaomi’s ecosystem binding smartphones, accessories, laptops, and homes.

Xiaomi HyperOS Firmware

Additional rumors relating to the hardware suggest that the quad stereo speaker setup is here to stay. Other than that, it appears that the upcoming Xiaomi Tab 7 Pro may boast charging speeds of up to 120W.

Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro Launch and Availability:

The launch of the Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro seems to be right on our doorstep. According to Digital Chat Station, the Chinese OEM brand will reveal the tablet in its home country next month i.e. in October!

Will the tablet make its way to us normies outside China? Most likely — No! But, we’ll keep an eye out for any new information on this tablet and update this article accordingly anyway!

X suspended in Brazil after facing legal issues

0

A judge in Brazil ordered the ban of social media platform X after the company failed to meet a deadline set by the Supreme Court on an ongoing issue. In this article, we will delve into the details surrounding this case.

Reason behind the ban of X

According to the report, X, formerly Twitter, got suspended due to failure to appoint a new legal representative in the country responsible for managing legal matters of Brazilian laws. The judge, Alexandre de Moraes ordered the “immediate and complete suspension” of the platform until it adheres to court orders and pays existing fines.

X accounts linked to disinformation

The issue started in April when Justice Moraes ordered the suspension of several X accounts which were accused of spreading disinformation.

Justice Moraes vs Elon Musk

Regarding the ban, X head Musk argued that these orders violate free speech and described them as politically motivated and illegal under Brazilian law.

“Free speech is the bedrock of democracy and an unelected pseudo-judge in Brazil is destroying it for political purposes.” – Elon Musk

On the other hand, Moraes has instructed Apple and Google to remove Twitter (X) from their respective app stores immediately. He further added that individuals or businesses accessing the platform through VPNs face daily fines of R$50,000 (~USD 8900).

Twitter (X) closed its office in Brazil earlier this month, due to the threats of arrest for non-compliance. The company described the situation as censorship and illegal. However, as per the judge’s order, the ban on X will be in effect until the company appoints a new legal representative in the country and pays fines for violating Brazilian law.

From WhatsApp to X: Quite a history

Since about 10% of Brazil’s 200 million population uses this social media platform, the ban on X could somehow impact the company. Nevertheless, X is not the only social media company to experience pressure from Brazilian authorities. Last year, Telegram was temporarily banned for not complying with requests to block certain profiles. Meta’s WhatsApp also experienced temporary bans in 2015 and 2016 for refusing to provide user data to law enforcement.

Motorola Edge 50 Neo is FINALLY here with Moto AI

After months of “coming very soon”, the Moto Edge 50 Neo is finally here! While nearly all the leaked information stands true, we now have further clarity on what remained hidden. In this article, we will look into the Motorola Edge 50 Neo including its expected price in Nepal.

Motorola Edge 50 Neo Overview

Design and Display

The Motorola Edge 50 Neo is more or less a mini version of the regular Edge 50 launched last month. Given that, it looks pretty much identical apart from the size and plastic frames. It boasts IP68 as well as MIL-STD 810H military rating, similar to its larger counterpart. The phone is available in wider colour choices, which include PANTONE Poinciana, PANTONE Lattè, PANTONE Grisaille, and PANTONE Nautical Blue. All the options are crafted with vegan leather on the back.

Moving on to the front, you get a 6.4-inch pOLED screen with Super HD resolution and Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It offers an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz, touch sampling rate of 300Hz, and peak brightness of 3,000 nits. It also covers the full DCI-P3 colour gamut and displays over a billion shades of colour. The Motorola Edge 50 Neo has bagged SGS certification for blue light and motion blur reduction.

Performance

This phone has opted for the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 for its processing duties. In contrast, the regular Edge 50 has the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 Accelerated Edition instead. While the two phones have different chipsets under their helm, they are quite similar on paper (note: the Accelerated Edition has a peak frequency of 2.5GHz). Hence, one might not feel the difference in real usage between the Motorola Edge 50 Neo and non-Neo variants.

MediaTek Dimensity 7300

In terms of configuration, this phone can have up to 12GB RAM and 512GB storage. The leak mentioned that there would be an 8GB + 256GB variant too, however, it has not yet been listed on Motorola’s website. Regardless, users can virtually extend the RAM on the Motorola Edge 50 Neo, but cannot expand the storage. Meanwhile, it has a much smaller battery capped at 4,310 mAh. Despite the lower battery capacity, it supports the same charging speeds as its bigger sibling i.e. 68W wired and 15W wireless.

Camera and Moto AI

The Motorola Edge 50 Neo has a 50MP OIS camera coupled with a Sony LYTIA 700C sensor as the primary shooter. It is then assisted by two additional cameras on the back. One is a 13MP ultrawide lens that doubles down as a macro shooter. The other is a 10MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and OIS capability. In the meantime, it has a 32MP unit on the front for the selfies. All in all, it has the same camera setup as the Motorola Edge 50.

Moto AI Magic Canvas

The Moto AI is one of the key highlights of this phone. Motorola talks about two particular features — Style Sync and Magic Canvas. The former allows you to snap a picture of your outfit and generates wallpapers and device themes based on that. Likewise, the latter generates images based on your prompts. It’s basically what platforms like ChatGPT, Dall-E, Midjourney, Firefly, etc. already offer, but on the phone itself.

Similar to other Motorola offerings, we can hope for its arrival here as the brand was recently rejuvenated. If and when it makes its way here, we expect the Motorola Edge 50 Neo price in Nepal to start at NPR 79,999 (based on European pricing).

Benefits of Buying iPhone in Nepal from Authorised Retail Channels:

1. VAT Bill

VAT bill not only certifies the legality of a product but also ensures that a portion of your payment goes to the government. So, buying from the authorized channel also helps you serve the duty of a good citizen. Having said that, grey Apple products are usually cheaper than those from the authorized channels.

2. IMEI Registered

In addition, when the iPhones are brought to Nepal by the authorized distributors, they register the IMEI numbers at the Nepal Telecommunication Authority (NTA). Therefore, when you buy an iPhone from an authorized channel, you will be enjoying the privilege of an IMEI-registered phone.

There are plenty of advantages to registering your smartphone’s IMEI at NTA; one is the ability to claim or track your phone in case you lose it. Furthermore, NTA has also announced the registration of the IMEI number of smartphones as a mandatory criterion. Failing to do so might get your phone blocked.

3. Warranty

When you buy from an authorized retailer, you will be offered one year of warranty (replacement warranty on factory defects and Nepal-authorized warranty on software and hardware). Just keep in mind, that this warranty will not cover any sort of physical or water damage.

In addition, there are also chances that the products from unauthorized vendors to be refurbished. So, the greed of little amount of money could engulf you in regrets in the long run.

4. EMI

If you wish to own Apple products but are incapable of paying the price right now, then you will not have to worry. The retailers have an additional service to cope with such difficulties. According to EvoStore, being a credit card holder of NABIL, Global IME, NIBL, Laxmi, Himalayan, or Siddhartha Bank gives you an additional privilege.

If you are a credit card holder of any of the aforementioned banks, you can buy an iPhone with a 12-month EMI plan. You can contact your convenience store for further information and procedures if you find yourself eligible.

This processor is built on a 6nm process, offering a slight improvement in power efficiency and performance compared to the Dimensity 6080 found in the previous model. 2

A new business-focused Dell laptop has hit the Nepali market. The new Vostro 3520 is a 15-inch notebook for business personnel and small enterprises powered by 12th Gen Intel CPUs. Here, we will discuss the specs, features, latest price, and availability of Dell Vostro 15 3520 in Nepal.

Dell Vostro 15 3520 Overview:

Design and Display

As expected of a 3000-series Vostro laptop, the design of the Vostro 15 3520 is not anything to write home about. It comes in a 15-inch chassis that weighs 1.66 kg. Dell offers the laptop in two builds, one with an all-plastic design and the other with an aluminum lid. One thing worth mentioning is the hinge which lifts the laptop’s base slightly when opened. This makes for a comfortable typing experience while also increasing the base clearance of the chassis where air intake vents and dual speakers are located.

It sports a 15.6-inch display with noticeable bezels. The top one even houses a 720p webcam with an integrated microphone. The cheaper models feature a TN panel with HD resolution, whereas higher-end models have 120Hz FHD IPS panels. Both cover 45% of the NTSC gamut, while the IPS panel is marginally brighter at 250 nits.

Performance and Memory

On the GPU front, the Vostro 3520 is configurable with up to entry-level NVIDIA MX550 discrete graphics. However, it’s reserved for higher-end models, and the majority just ship with Intel’s integrated solution.

Rest of the Specs

In terms of connectivity, the Dell Vostro 15 3520 features three USB ports, an HDMI, an ethernet, an SD card reader, and a headphone jack. Oddly, Dell has excluded a Type-C port, making you pay extra if you need it.
