Oppo A3 Pro launched with minimal upgrades and an IP69 rating

Oppo unveiled the successor to the A2 Pro in China a few days ago. Not only does the smartphone sport a fancy-looking design, but it also has an impressive mix of features for a phone at its price. In this article, let’s take a quick look at the Oppo A3 Pro, its features, specifications, and expected price in Nepal.

Oppo A3 Pro Overview

Design and Display

Looks-wise, the A3 Pro features a circular camera island at the center surrounded by either a glass or vegan leather back. There’s a ring enclosing the camera bump, similar to the A2 Pro. However, this time around the camera ring is larger and more pronounced. The back is protected by Oppo’s ‘Crystal Shield’ with improved drop resistance while the front features Corning’s Gorilla Glass Victus protection. All this with an IP69 rating for improved dust and water resistance.

The three color options for the device include Azure, Pink, and Blue. The former comes in a dual-tone glossy finish with glittery patterns on the back. Meanwhile, the Pink and Black options come in a dual-texture finish featuring leather and a marble-like strip running through the centre.

On the front, you get a 6.7-inch OLED display with Full HD+ resolution and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. It features a punch-hole on the top with minimal chin and side bezels.

Performance and Software

Under the hood, the new Oppo A3 Pro sports the same Dimensity 7050 chipset from MediaTek as its predecessor. So, in terms of raw power, there won’t be much of an upgrade here. Memory options are also similar with the smartphone supporting up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of memory. On the software side, A3 Pro boots on ColorOS 14 based on Android.

Mediatek Dimensity 7050

Cameras

There are a total of 3 cameras on the A3 Pro. The primary shooter is a 64MP sensor with an aperture of f/1.7 accompanied by a 2MP depth sensor. Over on the front, there’s an 8MP selfie camera. Safe to say, the camera setup is almost unchanged from the ast generation.

Oppo A3 Pro Specifications:

  • Display: 6.7-inch OLED screen, FHD+ resolution, 120Hz refresh rate
  • Chipset: Dimensity 7050 (6nm mobile platform)
  • Memory: 8/12GB RAM, 256/512GB storage UFS 3.1 (expandable)

Huawei FreeBuds Lipstick 2 launched with design overhaul

Huawei is one of those companies known for its innovation. Sometimes they bring products that are straight-up bizarre. One such offering from the company was their Lipstick earbuds that launched back in late 2021. Now, they have launched a follow-up product with a design overhaul. This article will discuss the Huawei FreeBuds Lipstick 2 in further detail including its price in Nepal.

Huawei FreeBuds Lipstick 2 Overview

Design

The latest Huawei FreeBuds Lipstick 2 more like other Huawei FreeBuds is a design-heavy product. Though it is the follow-up to the original and has “Lipstick” on its name, it barely resembles lipstick anymore. This time around the charging case is more reminiscent of a treasure chest instead. The earbuds themselves also look entirely different from its predecessor. It comes in a “water drop” shape similar to the Huawei FreeBuds 5. Matter of fact, these Lipstick buds might as well be repackaging of FreeBuds 5.

Huawei FreeBuds Lipstick 2 Design

While that may or may not be true, the buds come semi-in-ear fit along with IP54 water and dust resistance. The charging case features a leather-like material with linear pattern carvings. Additionally, the hinge on the case is made of high-strength stainless steel and titanium alloy. However, unlike the buds, the case does not have any dust or water resistance. The Huawei FreeBuds Lipstick 2 ships in two finishes: String White with white case and silver buds, and Phantom Black with black case and red interior and buds.

Audio and the rest

The audio on the Huawei FreeBuds Lipstick 2 is driven by a dual magnetic rotor that is 11mm in diameter. With this, these earbuds are capable of producing a frequency range of 100Hz to 2KHz. These earbuds come with Bluetooth v5.2 for wireless connectivity with your phone. It supports a wide range of codes including two high-definition ones in the form of L2HC and LDAC with transmission rates of up to 990 kbps.

Huawei FreeBuds Lipstick 2 Features

The Huawei FreeBuds Lipstick 2 offers a multi-device connection with devices running on HarmonyOS 3.0 and later. Similarly, the case packs a 410mAh cell. With this, it can offer up to 5 hours of playback with ANC turned off. In the meantime, when you factor the charging case in, you get 24 hours of usage. When you are completely drained of the battery, it takes about 90 minutes to fully charge. Additionally, it can offer you 2 hours of playback with just 5 minutes of charge as well.

Leica Leitz Phone 3 announced with 1-inch CMOS sensor

A company — we are all familiar with — has announced a new smartphone. It’s Leica! Yes, the same company that Xiaomi partners with for their cameras! Matter of fact, it’s the third iteration of their phone! Let’s discuss the Leica Leitz Phone 3 more in this article.

Leica Leitz Phone 3 Overview

Design and Display

The design, unsurprisingly, is not the company’s main focus. As such, there is not much deviation from its predecessor i.e. Leica Leitz Phone 2, apart from the rounded corners. Additionally, the phone also features liner patterns all across its back panel. It has an IP68 rating and comes with a large circular camera dial aligned to the centre of the phone. The overall finish emulates the look and feel of a Leica camera offering perfect grip on different use case scenarios. You also get a cover and a lens cap bundled with the phone.

Leica Leitz Phone 3 Design

On the front, we are getting the same display as the last iteration, and the one before that. That being said, it’s a 6.6-inch unit with an IGZO OLED panel spanning 1,260 x 2,730 pixels in resolution. Other than that, you get a high refresh rate of 240Hz and a peak brightness of 2,000 nits. The Leitz Phone 3 comes with Gorilla Glass protection — the version of which Leica has not specified. Thus, it could be the original Gorilla Glass that launched back in 2008.

Performance

Under the hood, this phone packs last year’s Qualcomm flagship chipset. Though not the latest processor, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is still very powerful with one of the best image processing capabilities. In addition to that, the Leica Leitz Phone 3 packs 12GB memory and an ample storage of 512GB. You also get external storage support of up to 1TB via a MicroSDXC card.

On the software side of things, this phone boots on the Android 14. You get a Qualcomm 3D Sonic Max as the fingerprint sensor. The Leica Leitz Phone 3 is also capable of facial recognition even when you have a mask on. It comes with WiFi 6, Bluetooth v5.3, and NFC support for wireless connectivity. Meanwhile, for wired connections, you get a USB Type-C port and the classic 3.5mm combo headphone jack. Lastly, it draws power from a 5,000 mAh battery.

Camera

Moving on to the star of the show — the CAMERAS! Starting with the primary camera, which has an effective resolution of 47.2 megapixels. Underneath, you get a 1-inch CMOS sensor as well. With this, the main camera offers a focal length of 19mm which is also equivalent to 35mm format.

Leica Leitz Phone 3 Camera

The secondary camera on the back is a 1.9 MP distance sensor like we saw on the Phone 2. On the front end, you get a 12.6 MP camera with a 78° field-of-view, an aperture of f/2.3, and 8x adjustable digital zoom. The front sensor is also CMOS while the focal length is 27mm.

Camera Features

On top of this solid camera hardware, you get additional camera-centric features on the software end.

Leica Look

Firstly, the Leica Leitz Phone 3 comes with the “Leitz Look”. This is a specially developed software engine that emulates the look of the three most famous Leica M-Lenses. Namely, the Noctilux-M 1:1.2/50, Summilux-M 1:1.4/28, and Summilux-M 1:1.4/35. Moreover, you can switch between different aperture stops allowing for bokeh, vignette, and spotlight render control.

Leica Look

Leica Tones

In addition to the Leitz Look, the Leica Leitz Phone 3 also comes with Leica Tones. They are basically filters for setting the tone of an image. The Monochrom, Cinema Classic, and Cinema Contemporary tones that were developed especially for the Phone 2 are being carried over to the Phone 3 as well. In the meantime, Vivid and Enhanced tones have been added this time around.

Leica Tones

Leica Perspective Control

Next, it comes with “Leica Perspective Control” which was previously exclusive to Leica cameras. This feature allows for perspective correction of falling vertical lines, helping out mainly in architectural photography. The image correction occurs in the JPEG format leaving the DNG untouched.

Leica Perspective Control

Dedicated Widgets

Other than the in-camera features, you get two dedicated widgets on the Leica Leitz Phone 3. The first of which is the Golden Hour widget which takes your location into account and picks the ideal time for photography by sending you a reminder. The other is the LFI widget, which is a showcase of images from the Leica Fotografie Internation gallery. You get to see photos of a photographer from another part of the globe and get inspired.

Realme GT Neo 6 SE announced with 6000 nits of peak brightness!

0

Realme’s GT series always has something going for it, be it the price to performance, or super fast charging, or maybe something else. After shocking realme fans with its ‘world record brightness’ claim, the Chinese company has finally announced the smartphone. In this article, let’s take a look at the Realme GT Neo 6 SE, including its price in Nepal, specifications, and availability.

Realme GT Neo 6 SE Overview

Display

The Realme GT Neo SE features a BOE-manufactured 8T LTPO AMOLED display with a 1.5k resolution and 120Hz refresh rate (0.5 to 120 Hz). But the most intriguing part is the claim of ‘6000’ nits of peak brightness. Of course, this likely refers to a reading for a small area during HDR content but it’s super impressive nonetheless. The current record is held at an impressive ‘5000’ nits by Honor’s Magic 6 Pro followed by the ‘4500’ nits of a couple of BBK’s offerings (OnePlus 12, Find X7 Ultra). The global brightness of 1,600 nits is pretty appealing as well. Moreover, the display also has 2160Hz PWM dimming, up to 2500Hz touch sampling, and a bunch of other bells and whistles.

Realme GT Neo 6 SE display and design

Now, getting into design, the GT Neo 6 SE has a thickness of 8.65mm, 191 gm in weight and is IP65 rated. The phone is available in two striking colors: Liquid Silver Knight and Cangye Hacker. Moreover, it retains the same silver design as the flagship model. With a nano mirror coating, it gets a titanium sky mirror look. Plus, a misty AG process gives it a texture like titanium’s reflection.

Camera

Moving on to optics, you get a 50 MP Sony IMX882 as the main camera and an 8MP IMX355 ultra-wide on the rear. Sitting in the hole-punch is a 32MP Sony IMX615 selfie camera.

Performance

Just like we mentioned in our Realme GT Neo 6 series coverage, the SE sibling is getting the latest Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 SoC. To catch you up to speed, it’s Qualcomm’s latest offering in the premium midrange segment with a similar core architecture to the flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 — be it with lower clocks and an inferior GPU. And for the first time in a ‘Snapdragon 7’ series chip, you get onboard AI capabilities with the AI engine and NPU. The Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 SoC is accompanied by up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage. Moreover, the GT Neo 6 SE sports a 5,500 mAh cell with support for 100W SUPERVOOC charger.
