Asus’s ROG series is a pretty sought-after name among gamers. The Taiwanese company has recently launched the ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 (2023) series with the new AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX processor. But what makes it an interesting option among gamers, creators, and alike is its dual screen. Here, we will look into the Asus ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 (2023) in detail, including its expected price in Nepal.

Asus ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 (2023) Overview

Design

The ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 (2023) comes with two screens placed side by side. This is a pretty identical design to its 2022 counterpart where the secondary display rises through a hinge when you open the lid. It comfortably sits at a 13° angle, which as per Asus, is perfect for content watching and casual usage.

Alongside that, users can also view the motherboard with RGB accents when the lid is opened. Neat! The laptop also carries the classic ROG design with the ‘Fearless Eye’ logo on the lid, complemented with RGB light. You can also find the RGB light in the diagonal iridescent slash on the back, which showcases the dual design language of the laptop.

Display

On the front, the Zephyrus Duo 16 (2023) houses dual displays, as aforementioned. The primary screen is a 16-inch Mini LED display with a Quad HD+ resolution. It refreshes at 240Hz with a 3ms response time for those swift gaming actions.

The panel is TÜV Rheinland certified for low blue light emission. On top of that, it also bags VESA DisplayHDR 1000 certification. Other attributes of the display include a 100% DCI-P3 color gamut, 1100 nits peak brightness, 1024 dimming zones, Dolby Vision, and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro support.

Meanwhile, the secondary display is a 14″ IPS touchscreen with a 4K resolution. It gets the Corning Gorilla Glass DXC protection, alongside anti-fingerprint coating. Asus is claiming 40% improved hardness and lesser surface reflections with the DXC.

Performance

Powering the core of the gaming laptop is the AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX processor. To compare, the Ryzen 9 7945HX comes neck to neck with Intel’s Core i9 13900HX. This powerful chipset is based on a 5nm fabrication process and has 16 cores and 32 threads. Likewise, AMD has infused a larger 64MB L3 cache here.

The chip is paired with 32GB DDR5 RAM which is expandable up to 64GB. The laptop supports 2TB + 2TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 SSD. Likewise, the MUX switch enables direct use of the discrete GPU directly to the display, bypassing the integrated graphics.

Talking of the graphics, Asus is providing four NVIDIA GeForce card options here: RTX 4090, RTX 4080, RTX 4070, and RTX 4060. The highest variant with the 4090 boasts a whopping 175W max TGP. Besides the GPU, the four models share the same specs across the board.

Cooling

With such gaming hardware onboard, you certainly require a good cooling mechanism under the hood. And Asus hasn’t made a compromise in this aspect either.

The laptop uses Thermal Grizzly’s Conductonaut Extreme liquid metal thermal interface material which offers 17X higher thermal conductivity compared to the standard thermal paste. This results in up to 15°C cooler CPU temperature, as per Asus. And unlike the regular thermal paste, the liquid metal interface never dries out, ensuring better-sustained performance.

Moreover, the machine uses Arc Flow fans which ensure 13% more airflow with less noise. On top of that, there are 5 heat pipes and quad heatsinks covered by ultrathin copper fins, allowing better heat dissipation with lower air resistance.

Ports and Connectivity

Talking of the ports options, the gaming laptop has 2x USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports, 1x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C, (DisplayPort, PD, G-SYNC), 1x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C (DisplayPort, G-SYNC), 1x HDMI 2.1 FRL port, 1x 3.5mm Combo Audio Jack, and 1x 2.5G LAN port. And the wireless connectivity includes triple-band WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2.

Battery and Others

The ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 draws its juice from a 90Wh battery. This 4-cell Li-iOn cell supports 330W fast charging. Likewise, there is a 1080p webcam for video, while audio is handled by 6 speakers (dual-force woofer) with Dolby Atmos & Hi-Res Audio support. The keyboard is backlit chiclet and offers per-key RGB.

We can expect the Asus ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 (2023) to cost NPR 554,999 for the RTX 4080 model & NPR 634,999 for the RTX 4090 variant if and when it launches in Nepal.
